Great hostel. Spent one night there and wish I could have stayed longer. The hostel tries to keep a fun atmosphere. The beds are comfy and towel is provided. You need to bring your own lock for the lockers. Its also designed very well making the entrance look grand and roomy. The hostel also sets up activities for the people.

Great little hostel with a lot of character! The staff here are super helpful and friendly. Charging points inside the lockers are awesome! It's a great, central location but easy to miss as you walk past. It's directly between 2 restraunts.

Me and my husband stayed here in the mixed dorm, for a night, the location of the hostel is pretty good. Not far from the airport, and surrounded by a lot of good restaurants. The front desk is open 24 hours. The room and the beds are clean. My dorm room was right on the busy street, and adjacent to the lobby. So was little noisy. There was no attached bathroom. You have to walk down the Holloway. The restroom is clean enough and maintained. There is vending machine inside. The environment inside is also friendly and nice. However, this is not the best hostel I have stayed so far.

Rooms are a bit smelly. Only place to chill is either your room or the small parlor. Staff are friendly and helpful Location is awesome right on the bar strip. Easy access to train and buses.

Best hostel I've been in, honestly better than most 4 star hotels I've been to as well. Will definitely stay here again, whenever I find myself in San Diego. Super friendly staff, clean bathrooms, towel is provided, fantastic vibes and setup, cute upper lounge, and did i mention amazing staff.

Bathrooms were always super clean!.. The whole place had a really cool vibe, amazing location... The free breakfast is a bonus & some nights free dinner is offered. Very international feel! My wife & I loved our stay & the people we met, she met some fellow Brazilians

I recently stayed at the USA Hostel in San Diego and was not a fan. 1. The staff were neither very friendly nor very helpful. I hated asking them anything because of how they would treat you. Ive stayed in hostels all over the world (literally) and this hostel had the most unpleasant staff of any. 2. After my first night’s stay I reported that my bed was broken (broken springs, visible and confirmed by the female manager), they gave me a discount which was fine, but what bothered me was that they didn’t remove the mattress and checked someone into the same bed less than 1hr after I moved bunks. Not cool. My experience wasn’t all bad though, the facilities were clean (the bathrooms were extremely clean) and the location was great. Unfortunately, the hostel options in SD are pretty limited. Good luck!

For a hostel, this place is very good. Bathrooms was super clean, and bed sheets, pillow covers and towels (which they hand you at the front desk) were fresh. Free high speed wifi. There is a common room with TV, a kitchen and an eating area. There is charging station inside lockers as well as next to the bed, which was super convenient. In the 6-bed rooms, there was no space to put your bags, except stuff them under the bed. If you are sleeping in the upper bed, this could become inconvenient. Bathroom sink area does not have a place to put your stuff, which was a pain when you are carrying around a bag full of stuff. Lockers require you to bring your own locks, which I didn't know until after I got here. The bedside lamp is way too bright. But overall great value.

They tried to traffick me. They told me for “$30 a night” a free ride to Tijuana. If it’s free, you’re the one product. Moreover, they were claiming they were “closing” they day of my departure, but I prank called and they were still accepting guests. Once I reported them, they found the biggest tunnel from San Diego to Tijuana. I have police reports to prove my case. Oh! And try to call them now… their phone line is dead 😂

You may find that "USA Hostels" is now closed and their popular Ocean Beach location is now @samesunoceanbeach In Downtown Gaslamp area we offer "Hostel on 3rd" , "LuckyDs" `and ITH Adventure Hostels. Hillcrest Colive Balboa Park, aka HillcrestHostel can be found @TheHostelCalifornia. Hostel Habibi is permanently closed.

No frills hostel. Has some cool decorations and really nice staff. It's in a phenomenal location. You walk outside and you're immediately hit with nightlife. That also means it's loud all night unfortunately. Not necessarily from the hostel but from the surrounding area. Breakfast is good, things are clean enough. The lockers only work with large locks, not the smaller TSA luggage locks. This was pretty frustrating to discover and I wish I had known earlier, as my two locks are useless. Overall, would stay again if I came to San Diego.

Everything was great about this hostel. The staff is super friendly. The location and price are great. In regards to the things someone may be wondering: There is a fridge for food storage and a supermarket down the street There is locked storage in your room I heard no exterior noise The location is super convenient There is microwave/toaster/toaster oven. You could hypothetically make a pizza. They have a shuttle that can take you to cool places occasionally (they have schedule with them) I’m very pleased with my experience and a bit bummed I wasn’t there longer as the staff have great personalities.

I have nothing good things to say about this place! The staff was uber friendly and explained everything so thoroughly. The room was clean, roomies were respectful, the restroom was clean, and the location is perfect! I'm a huge fan of the bar below so this was just great.

Really great. Super hard to find, and Google maps didn't help after walking around for almost 30 min I finally found it. Wish there was more descriptions about the actual location. Everyone was super sweet and the room was nice.

Best Hostel I have seen in awhile. It checks all the boxes. Historic building, central location, great staff and chill vibe. My only negative comment is to beware of the pizza place next door.

Best Hostel I've ever been too. Fantastic rooms for a great price, and so conveniently located. Be sure you understand the concept of a hostel before booking a room. I see too many people complaining about not having enough room/having to share rooms and I realize they had no idea what a hostel even was. This is how they are supposed to be, and this one does its job wonderfully

There is a strange smell in the building which you get used to. The rooms were really nice and clean. The bathrooms were also clean. The employees are really nice, outgoing and open-minded. The hostel also had cool events. You get here one of the best breakfasts. You are supplied with pancake dough and can do them on your own. You also get toast and a good range of fruits.

Perfect location in the heart of Gaslamp. Close to everything. Lots of dining options around. Rooms are clean and cozy, even though a little cold when I went in November. Bathrooms are very clean too and showers are individual with locked doors for extra privacy.

USA Hostels San Diego is a comfortable and budget-friendly accommodation option in the heart of this vibrant city. While it may not boast the luxury of a 5-star hotel, it more than makes up for it with its friendly atmosphere and excellent value for money. The staff at USA Hostels San Diego is incredibly welcoming and helpful, making you feel right at home. The hostel's communal areas are lively, providing opportunities to meet fellow travelers and share experiences. The free breakfast is a nice touch and helps you start your day on the right foot. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, offering all the basic amenities you need for a pleasant stay. Plus, its central location means you're within walking distance of many attractions, restaurants, and bars in San Diego. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option that offers a cozy atmosphere and a chance to connect with other travelers, USA Hostels San Diego is an excellent choice for your stay.

Clean gender free bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Affordable comparatively. I don't like that you have to make your own bed and then strip it and turn in the bedding to check out. Getting to know the staff was the most interaction I had with anyone. Most guest are kind entitled and don't even ! Make eye contact

Second time staying here and I love it. My go-to hostel when in town. Friendly staff, great location and comfy rooms. Bathrooms and showers are spacious and clean too.

Do not choose this hostel if you have difficulty with steps. There are many of them and they are steep. That said, I love staying here even though I use a cane.

USA Hostels San Diego offers a great location, putting you within a 15-minute walk of Petco Park and San Diego Convention Center.

This location is deep in downtown San Diego so it's close to pretty much anything you might wanna do in that area. The facilities are great. The building looks and smells a little old when you walk in but the aesthetics are really charming. There's a full breakfast of fruit, bagels, oatmeal in the morning which was so great!! What I appreciated most was how the staff were really friendly and how all guests were respectful of the rules. Overall, would stay here again!

I loved the few days I spent at USA Hostels SD. They have a fantastic team that is always there to do everything from give you quality advice on the city or pour you a shot! I was solo here for a few days and it was easy to meet some great fellow travelers. Not to mention the perfectly central location. Lastly, the place has some of the cleanest hostel bathrooms I've ever experienced because they clean it 3-4 times a day...makes a world of difference. Would return.
