The entire process of booking a room, checking in, being shown around the place, and checking out went smoothly without a hitch. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful congenial atmosphere being in the company of all of the other guests, whom I enjoyed meeting very much. The sleeping quarters were comfortable (I was in a room with several double bunk beds, and the beds had privacy curtains you could pull shut), and there were also lockers which you could put any valuable stuff in. There were plenty of bathrooms and showers - never a need to wait until one was available. Pancake batter was provided every morning with which guests could make their own pancakes (and the pancake batter was delicious); coffee was also provided. I was extremely impressed by how clean all of the facilities were (bathrooms, showers, kitchen, etc.). There was a recreation room with a pool table, TV with streaming services, and even a couple of guitars to play. The location is fabulous - 3 blocks from the Little Italy section of San Diego, plenty of restaurants nearby, small neighborhood markets within a few blocks away in case any supplies were needed, and it was close (within walking distance) to other downtown San Diego attractions (such as the Gaslamp Quarter, which is very lively at night with restaurants, entertainment, etc.). I had my car with me, and I was able to find free parking on the street at night within 1 block of the place on each of the 4 nights I was there. Overall, I absolutely loved the place, I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else, and I look forward to staying there again!

My week at this hostel was great! The staff was super nice, the kitchen was clean and I don’t think I’ve ever slept as good as I did at the Traveler’s house. I got to know many interesting people and I never got bored or felt alone. There was a nice sense of community. All the free events every night was an added bonus!

BEDBUGS AND UNFRIENDLY STAFF! I think a lot of the reviews must be fake. I just stayed there and what I found was half the people who were there are staying there for free or "volunteering". The "volunteers" were mostly Young latina women who are working illegally probably. The worst though was the cockroaches and bedbugs. I had a top bunk and bedbugs bit me all night. Killed a bunch. Even worse was the cockroache that tried to get in my ear when I was sleeping..... Seems like the lazy volunteers with entitlement issues cant even keep the place clean Nor free of pests. I wouldnt stay there again. Unfriendly staff and bedbugs arent what you pay for..

Amazing place, nice staff. I enjoyed staying in the 4-bedroom room. They offer breakfast from 7am to 9am. Coffee is available 24/7. The shower and laundry were fine.

This hostal becomes your actual home when exploring San Diego. I wouldn't have had the same experience of the city staying elsewhere! While the building is old (historic) and has its normal worn down, its kept all really clean and comfortable. Much more than any other hostel I have been at. The staff is fantastic. Friendly, helpful and organised, they always make you feel welcome. There are activities each day of the week to offer travellers space to meet each other. The kitchen becomes the heart of the house where lively conversations occur in the mornings at (free) breakfast and evenings with other guests over the table.

The place is friendly, fun, well organized. You have all you need for a stay in San Diego that is affordable and is also a great experience. Every time I have to stay in San Diego I choose ITH and always had a great time. Made new friends and had fun but also were able to rest after a long day.

My stay this summer at the Hostel was amazing! Little Italy is a very fun neighborhood to be in; from the delicious food to the amazing culture vibe. The managers Kayla and Nathan made it feel as if you were part of the hostel family, don’t know what I would have done without them. Adventure hostel is always clean and the staff is always willing to help you out at anytime. If you stay here download the app circuit for free rides in and out of downtown during your stay. I have had so many memories here and made some friends for life. I will definitely come back and visit when I can. Thank you for hosting me. Love you guys.

One of the best Hostels in San Diego. Prime location, next to beautiful Little Italy. Beautiful looking house with lots of character that is kept clean and tidy by the staff. ITH always has an amazing community vibe and the staff at this hostel in particular are very friendly and service oriented. I had a lot of fun going to the bonfires and events they hosted. I would highly recommend staying at this hostel.

Excellent on all accounts. Clean place, very comfy, friendly staff, great rates, and the location is pretty great. The free pancake breakfast is the best. They have all the things set up and you just make your own pancakes. I will definitely stay here again when I'm passing thru.

It’s actually worth 4,5 stars out of 5, but it’s not available on google maps. Pros 👍🏻 : -Friendly young staff (shout out to Gabriel & Sonja) -location -facilities (good kitchen, laundry, decent bathrooms, classic bunk beds, outside of the room lockers) -good internet connection (this is rare) - a pro and a con: I hope you enjoy pancakes as much as I do, otherwise you might get disappointed by the breakfast. There is almost nothing else proposed (apart from packaged oatmeal) and if you stay in the hostel for a week, a seven days pancake cure might be painful. Cons👎🏻 (or to improve): -fixing the metallic ladders of the bunk beds. Some are not fixed at the bottom, making their usage super noisy and maybe a bit unsafe -as an external partners is handling the washing machine, the reception might not have coins for you to use the machine. -dormitories doors are noisy a f, even with earplugs, there is a 90% chance to you can ear someone enter in the room, which at night sucks -no parking (don’t get robbed like us in the public parking that you can find in the streets and use the app “SpotAngels” to find free parking next to the hostel)

Negative: Every night, some guests talk loud inside and outside. I can’t believe every event starts at 9Pm, where’s quite time? Positive: Clean towels are put in the bathroom, sometimes it runs out though, this is really good service. WiFi speed is good. It takes 5-10mins from nearest station “Little Italy” on foot and takes 10mins away for Santa Fe or downtown area. Laundry service is good, it costs just 3.75 (that’s paid with quarter coins or APP. all clothes are dried just one time. Staff is very kind and open-mind. Key is card type and automatic-lock like a hotel.

I had never stayed in a hostel so I did not know what to expect coming in. One of the standout features of the place was the staff. The team is incredibly friendly, helpful, and diverse. They made it feel like a home away from home. There were always staff members around to chat with and I could tell that they really cared the events they put on each night and were so happy to be there. The other guests were also all unique and amazing people. There were plenty of bathrooms and a few different options- I never had to wait to take a shower or get ready in the morning. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here. The price, cultural immersion, location, and friendships you'll make are unbeatable. Highly highly recommend. I'll be back for sure!

I really like this hostel, the young's staff are really good and super friendly. The kitchen are interely equip, breakfast are good too, the bathroom are decent just missed some soap for travel you know. The bunk bed are correct, but need to repair the metallic ladder are not fixed. One note for the end, the price are cheap pour San Diego. I really recommend this place if you enjoyed talk with strangers 😁

Such a great experience, would recommend this hostel to anyone staying in San Diego! My bed wasn’t ready when I arrived a few hours early so I was able to leave my bag, use the public areas and relax while I waited. Very social space, showers and bathrooms were all very clean, do it yourself breakfast was amazing :)

It's a cool spot, a more calm vibe than the ITH in PB. For the most part it was pretty quiet when I stayed there. There are daily activities but a few of the nights were cancelled due to non-participation. One criticism I heard is that not everyone was "friendly" (but my own experience was great). Ultimately there is a bit of luck for any given moment because it involves who checks in, who works at the hostel, and your own effort to meet people. As for amenities, you are close to Gaslamp and Little Italy. The hostel has a unique look and charm. It's got a good location, only 5 min from the airport. I would stay here again!

Hostel was very clean. Two large bathrooms with nice showers and one bathroom with multiple showers. There is curtains in your bunk which helps keep the sun out and give you more privacy. Note: If you have a car, I recommend circling around and looking for meter parking along the streets. I got a spot two blocks away and walked a short distance. It is free overnight parking or 1.25$/ hour during the day. Parking garages and lots charge $25+ and are far sketchier than street parking.

I had a great experience here, nice ambience and the crew is awesome. The surroundings are very safe at night and a lot of places are near here. Good prices and safety I recommend this place to stay.

I have stayed here four times. Each time it is a unique experience. I always felt especially welcome here and staying here has been the greatest stay value in downtown San Diego. I met the most interesting people in the crossroads here on my travels. People from all over the world. The staff has always been so helpful and work very hard to maintain a clean place. The rooms and common areas are all very clean. I could stay here a month if I had the time. One of the best hostels on my travels.

Good location and great people! A super diverse group of staff and guests from all over the US and the world. The building feels very homey and is a great place to hang out. The staff did a good job communicating events with the guests and made me feel very welcome. They were nice to talk with, and helped me with any questions I had. Theres some street noise, but it was no big deal. I used ear plug a few times, mostly for early morning traffic, and slept well every night

I loved my stay at ITH. Location and staff were awesome. They were even kind enough to let me check in 3 hours early! This was my first time staying in a hostel, and I was super impressed by the cleanliness of the common areas. They also have great music taste :)

We liked our stay at ITH! The staff all had a down-to-earth, friendly realness to them. The cleanliness was far better than we anticipated-- we'd often see them sanitizing, disinfecting, cleaning etc throughout the common areas (even moreso than some regular hotels). We never had any issues with doors locking or feeling unsafe-- our room & the shared spaces were secure. Just like with any hostel, you're going to occasionally get a bit of a dorm vibe which is to be expected and we didn't mind (except the occasional loud person up making noise at 5:20 in the morning, but it is what it is). Overall it started to feel kinda like a second home and we were comfy coming back there each day. Would recommend! -- Just be sure to take 'em up on their free earplugs for the occasional (but bearable) crack of dawn sounds. We'll be back, and referring friends!

I have stayed here a few times now and love this place. It's super friendly and they do a free breakfast with coffee! I can't recommend them enough, there is something special about staying somewhere where nothing is a big drama and staff are helpful and flexible.

I really like this place. Amazing people and environment. The location is near little Italy which allows you to go to the best restaurants and bars in the area just walking!!!

The house is a nice historic home, nestled in the center of San Diego, close to Little Italy and a few blocks from the trolley system. I enjoyed the shared sleep room, community room, and kitchen. Though breakfast is served most days, I assume, it was not served the morning I left. The staff are attentive, kind, and polite. Enjoy!

This is going to be a long one so buckle in. TLDR: it was awesome. ITH Adventure was one of the best traveling experiences I've had in the US. Albeit I'm a new traveler, but this hostel was very accommodating and definitely an encouraging and warm introduction to travel hostels. I stayed at this hostel for 9 days and left wishing for a longer stay. Sleeping accommodations: - The beds are very comfortable, and they are building new beds within the next week that will have their own curtains. - I stayed in the 6-bed room, which was their most populated room. Aside from some guests who didn't wear deodorant, the sleep was very comfortable. - Most of the guests and staff respected the quiet hours, and by midnight the house was pretty quiet / lights out. Work/ Living accommodations: - I worked remotely during my stay at the hostel. The wifi speed was plenty for me to stream video and do software dev. A little faster wifi would be great, but the hostel isn't really geared towards working professionals but more towards travelers, so my expectations were beat there too. - The hostel was cleaned up to 4 times a day, and the staff did a great job doing it for the most part. - There is a living room which I worked out of that had a piano, guitar(s), and didgeridoos in it which I enjoyed playing / learning how to play during my stay. Staff: - The staff is extremely friendly. Going in, accept that you're going to meet people that are very different than you, and you'll have a great time. Everyone has great stories and great personalities. Nathan and Jacob were great and super funny too. Area: - The hostel is literally a minute walk away from little italy, and there's more than enough restaurants and bars to check out in the area to keep you occupied during your whole stay in SD. The Gaslamp district is also a walkable distance away as well as the marina (just bring your walking shoes!). Here are some of the places I visited in the area that I'd recommend you check out: - Cloak & Petal (beautiful bar with cool interior decorations and cooler drinks) - Underbelly (AMAZING ramen, MUST TRY!) - Coco maya (happy hour, cheap must-try drinks) - The Tipsy Crow in the Gaslamp district (Great bar upstairs, and club downstairs) Once again, I can't emphasize how great of a time I had at ITH Adventure. It was a great adventure and I'd honestly stay here again when I'm back in SD.

This place is the spot. Honestly, right downtown, close to absolutely everything. the team is incredible. Such good vibes would 100 percent recommend this spot to anyone travelling to San Diego. Plus free pancake breakfast can't go wrong.

The room was stinky, the beds were not comfortable. People were doing drugs in the facilities, there were no lockers available, no towels available, the restrooms were also dirty. Thank you for trying to improve but I already went back to San Diego and I booked another place where it was sparkling clean, they had a mich better service, they had lockers available, the beds were more comfortable and the price was lower. Honestly I don't think i will come back to you guys, there were broken lockers and I had to sleep with my suitcases in my bed, so far it's been one of the worst experiences I've had around the world. Thank you but no thank you.

Great staff and community, there are daily events such as taco Tuesday, and game nights. The staff are connective and friendly. a clean and welcoming environment. You meet all different types of people from all over the world, most of the time very friendly, This hostile contributed to some of the best memories in San Diego. I say thank you to Zac, Chris, Carla, Santiago and the other staff members for being awesome staff members and friends. I give this place a 10/10 will probably come back again.

Located in a pretty awesome spot near Little Italy. The staff were super friendly (they let me have some of their lasagna) and they had private rooms if you want! Only stayed their for a night though. Rooms have a college house/ hostel vibe.

We stayed here for a weekend with my friends and it was amazing pick, staff is amazing and really friendly, everything is clean and the location is great. Really big plus is that they are doing a lot of activities and trying to connect ppl together. We had so much fun. If I will travel next time to San Diego, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you for everything!🖤

I've never stayed at a Hostel and I was super sketch about it even upon arrival, I thought people would be weird or rude but I soon realized I probably was the weird one...lol everyone from the Staff and other guests were super cool, met some cool and friendly people from all over the world, the staff was very attentive and responsive! They actually cleaned more than a normal hotel...lol everyone was super friendly and respectful! I'd definitely stay again! One love to Aubrey and Santi and the rest of the staff who's name I forgot😁👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️ also the pancakes I made were amazing until everyone after me made them look even better with all the toppings I didn't use🤣🤣🤣

First time staying in a hostel stateside and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. All of the staff is incredibly helpful. This place is clean and well kept. There wasn’t a moment where I didn’t feel comfortable. Thanks for the jam session Gui. Great experience overall!

We booked the whole house on Front St this past weekend. By far my worst experience as a traveler, we started off with the host being unresponsive about check-in instructions on the VRBO app. I messaged the host 3 days before our check-in to inquire about instructions and I did not hear back from him until I called the number. Once I called the number, they provided instructions over the phone but when I requested them to provide check-in instructions on the app, they stated they didn’t know what app I was referring to. When we first arrived, the house smelled like Urine, there were huge urine stains in the front stairs. As we went inside the home there was a hole on the door, seemed like they removed the doorknob and just left the hole. This is not what was advertised in the pictures. When we asked about the whole getting sealed one of the hosts representatives gave us attitude and said well, we have cameras. To which we responded, we don’t care about your cameras we care for our safety. She angrily left to get someone to try to fix the hole. The house was not cleaned at all, there were mouse traps in multiple areas of the home. Throughout the whole home there were a lot of spider webs, kitchen and kitchen utensils were filthy. The house was advertised as fully airconditioned which wasn’t the case, there were only air conditioners in certain rooms. The kitchen table and all the surface areas were sticky to the point you where you would set your arms on the table, and they would get stuck. The pictures did not match what we were greeted with. There were multiple windows that were either broken, wouldn't close (allowing bugs), or missing entirely. There was one window (hole) that was patched with 2"x4"s and chicken wire. All in all, I would not recommend this location to anyone.

I was visiting for my Brothers Military Graduation and wanted to stay somewhere affordable but not cheap feeling. This place was better than I was expecting. The atmosphere was awesome, the staff was so welcoming and inclusive. There was always something todo after a long day of exploring. I made friends and memories that I will remember for the rest of my life. Staying at this hostel opened my eyes to a different part of life, one where I can travel, meet new people, and learn about different cultures. I can’t wait to see what comes next!!! Thank you Downtown Adventure Hostel for being so welcoming!!!

First and foremost, I would like to say that this place is incredibly amazing. Remarkable vibes and energy. I couldn't believe how inviting and warm all the staff and volunteers were it was incredible meeting. All sorts of people and cultures from all over the world. Nathan is a godsend that guy is fantastic at what he does. No one better. He sets the bar for what defines "above and beyond" other hstels ive stayed at employ terrible managers Nathan just knows how to keep things fresh with entertaining activitses, social events and he keeps the good energy alive with barbecues for us. Every weekend.( he's convinced his barbecue is better than mine) lmao. He definitely provides an atmosphere that is unforgettable not to mention his sense of humor. I loved my stay there. I will visit every single time. I will go. No place else they're awesome. ITH adventure is. Hands down outstanding. Can't wait to come back.
