The area is great but the price per single bed is very expensive. The rooms are scary to sleep in. everything is really dirty. the sheets are stained & have cigarette burn holes in them. THERE IS NO HOT WATER in the shower!! THERE IS NO PARKING ANYWHERE, even during the week! All of the patio chairs are broken and one even ripped a hole in my brand new pants. also, it doesnt matter if your check out follows procedure, they will steal your deposit as well. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you thrive on these type of conditions!

My sis and I decided to stay at Hostel Habibi after getting back from a cruise. I've never been to San Diego and wanted to explore the area. This hostel was much better than the one we tried a week before in Hollywood. The room and most of the common areas were clean. The place was quiet. The decoration was enjoyable. Prices are reasonable and they even offer cheap towel rentals (in case you don't have one). DeSean was the cutie who greeted us and took care of us during our stay. He gave us chocolate chip cookies :) They were pretty good. DeSean was very friendly and willing to accommodate any requests we might have. He even recommended spots for us to visit and hang out at night. We would definitely stay again. I docked one star because the common/TV room smelled bad (mostly like body odor).

This place is a reminder of just how bad a hostel can be. First of all, it’s filthy. Front desk staff know nothing about hospitality... they can’t make a single recommendation or provide anything as simple as a tooth brush, a suggestion of where to park or what to do in town. A/C is left blasting 24/7 even in a private room. Location is good at least.

Story time. Didn’t get see how the room could be but terrible customer service was the reason I walked out and find another place to lodge. I waited at the desk for 10 minutes and no one was there which was okay until I was “greeted” by an unneat looking man, I understand that it’s a hostel people can wear casual clothes but he looked like he was on the couch all day watching football with the absolutely not clean cut look. Okay no big deal, what really got to my nerves was he looked at me not a slight of customer service face asking “What do you need?” like excuse me didn’t even say hi and the tone he used like talking to an annoying kid. At that point I was over it, I felt relieved when I realized that my room was ready. I left and found a better place to stay. The place looked way darker and more timid than photos on google. No free parking around so if you have a car drive here to stay I would not recommend it because finding a free overnight parking is impossible. Put some extra bucks and go somewhere that values you.

I’ve stayed here 1-2 nights a week for a few weeks now. This place is clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful, even when checking in at midnight. The price and location cannot be beat, with restaurants, bars and grocery stores within walking distance, a rarity in car-heavy San Diego. It does get a bit louder sometimes but it’s to be expected for a hostel environment. Ive only stayed in private rooms, and have no complaints at all. Tip: ask for a room by the terrace; the extra few bucks are way worth it.

The staff is nice, the location is okay. The rooms are bare and hardly decorated. The real kicker for this place is that they are infested with bed bugs. I found a dead one in my room, however I talked to another guest and his room was covered in bed bugs. He said he found them on him when he woke up. I would not stay here until they get their bed bug infestation taken care of

Best hostel I’ve stayed in. Great location and if you have a car they help you with where to park it for free. We didn’t get too involved in activities but there looked like a good atmosphere here. Very clean and even though your in a shared dorm, the bed area was private. Small locker for valuables. Breakfast was good Bagels, fruit, coffee and tea available. Clean bedrooms and bathrooms Will be staying again when I come back to San Diego!

When we saw reviews we were a little bit scared about what we will find. But when we came we were felt very welcome. Owner (i think it was him ) he was so nice, he showed us how everything is working even wanted to take our luggage. We had private room with clean bed and floor . Bathroom and showers were also clean. I really recommend Habibi hostel.

The staff were very friendly and provided good service with explaining the process of how things work. My roommates were amazing and we all went walking around the neighborhoods. One was even from France!! The bathroom was very clean and the beds were comfortable. My overall experience was so great that I booked a second room the next day instead of trying to find a different hotel. Great quality for an inexpensive price.

Hostel in Hillcrest? Fabulous! The staff are very nice and accommodating. All problems I had were taken care of immediately. Also the other guests are friendly. My only complaint is that some rooms don't have a window to open. So, I does get a little stuffy at night. For the price, location and people...great!

Stayed 2 nights. Would have gladly given 4 stars had it not been for some plumbing issue last night there that resulted in me not being able to shower next morning when I woke up. Staff is friendly and definitely good company to hang out, chat or even hit one of the local spots with. Very good location. Within walking distance to great dining and bars and less than 20 minutes to a lot of popular beaches. The reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is paying for parking. You have to find a meter, paid parking lot or park a few blocks away to avoid paying anything. Not too much of an inconvenience but it is something that should be stated. The kitchen is open to the showers and bathrooms. A large curtain or low wall would be great for privacy. The hostel is not a hotel and a great place if you're looking for somewhere clean to rest your head for a night without paying a lot and want to chat and meet different walks of life. It's in the heart of a great LGBT community and very friendly locals. I was in town for business and it worked very well for my needs and would return. Thanks Hostel Habibi for some great memories!
