It was great to take a 3 year old around to see and even sit in some vehicles. They have the a DeLorean car like Back to the future for people to sit in and take photos! There are other vehicles to sit in and even a kid's corner with items for kids to interact with. A lot of amazingly handsome and stunning cars there. We enjoyed it.

Small museum with a wide assortment of cars. Could be more interesting if you like motorcycles, I feel they have an even broader assortment of bikes. The museum is of high quality and there was a lot of thought put into each display. You can even get a photo op in a couple of the vehicles.

Fantastic place to go and learn a great deal about American and European automotive history. I have to say though, the Automotive Museum has a great collection of motorcycle and associated history. My favorite part of the museum were the bikes!!! A lot of great cars but an even better selection of bikes to learn about the history of motorcycle development. I highly recommend this museum to anyone that is going up to Balboa Park!

My son asked to stop in this museum when we were at Balboa Park. We had the Go City pass, so we went for it. He had a wonderful time. They have a lot of amazing cars and the staff are fantastic and very knowledgeable.

(Translated by Google) There are many classic cars on one floor. There are dozens of vintage motorcycles. You can also straddle the tattered Yamaha American (model unknown). The best recommendation is the Cadillac (?), Which has undergone a number of modifications, such as ironing, drinking water, and a bar where you can drink alcohol. Is "I see the world" flowing? Almost all exhibits are marked with "Do not touch", so don't touch them.

I love this place! Totally worth the entrance fee. It's not as big as I thought it was going to be, but if you were the kind of person who likes reading about the displays, this place is for you. I spent 2.5 hours there and easily could have spent another hour. If you are not into reading the details and just like to browse, you might find it a bit small.

This was an on the spot decision for our family and we’re pretty happy! The museum wasn’t as big as I had hoped/expected, but ALL of the cars and motorcycles were super amazing! I wish there were more to see! The young man who was very professional and friendly. He gave us some interesting facts about the cars which helped with the visit.

The kids and I really enjoyed visiting the automotive museum today. Price to enter is $7 for kids, $10 senior, and $14 adults. Place is small but they have really cool cars and motorcycles.

Make sure you go on a cool day - the main hall doesn't have A/C. The museum is on the smaller side, but has a decent variety of exhibits ranging from one of a kind vehicles to vehicles made by high schoolers! There was even a DeLorean they let you sit in for Back to the Future fans!

Customer service was awful. People were disrespectful, rude, and incompetent. The amount of cars were not worth the price of admission.

Great look at some cars you would never spot on public roads, well-focused on 80s and 90s. Of course, there are a lot of 60s & 70s classics as well. There’s even a 2050 GTR concept car. Interestingly there’s even used scale model cars on display in the gift shop which you can buy. My only real complaint about the museum is the complete lack of iconic 90s JDM cars. As of summer 2022 there aren’t any 90s Japanese cars on display. That might be fixed when they change the cars they show off, since they do that very often. I think they might even bring in an R32 GTR.

Honestly a letdown. I thought this would be a great museum and all but I have seen so many of the cars that were there and even have one more valuable then some of them. Also, the Plank Road display has so little information that I have read websites that had more info so it made that one pointless. The cars were in nice condition though.

Great museum with a lot of special different cars to see. Only downside is we wishes it was bigger. Does not take long to see e everything. But overall felt worth the visit. Went on a Saturday and it was not very crowded when opened.

History on display at one of America's aviation manufacturing cities. From the Spirit of St. Louis to the birthplace of naval aviation, Consolidated Aircraft, Ruben H. Fleet, Ryan Aeronautical, General Dynamics. One of America's finest targets. Don't miss it.

Lenny and his team have really put in work to make the SD Automotive Museum a must - see for out of towners and San Diegans combined! There’s always something on the move and displays / exhibits being updated. Of course - I am a bit biased with the new San Diego Highwayman permanent exhibit - honoring my Fathers 50+ year investment into helping others on the road! But even aside from that amazing Exhibit - Lenny’s really honed in on what makes the museum a great place to visit for the whole family! Stop by and check it out!

Great eye-opening walk through history's automotive creations. You get a sense of the style and quality of the era each car was produced. There's a plaque for each engineered work of art which includes a brief detailed short. Lots of history here.

Small eclectic assembly of cars, many motorcycles. We went on the "free" Tues. Guess what? It's not ENTIRELY free! They have a special section with an exhibit for $2.00. Now I know $2 is not much. But if they say it's free, it should be FREE. The reason for 4 stars. The cars on show are wonderful. The International harvester is the quintessential Horseless carriage. The Reo is early sophistication. The Cord is Glamorous and the Cadillac is substantial even back then. Nice way to spend the morning.

  • 5/5 Johnny G. H. 2 years ago on Google
It is small but they were able to fit many cars and motorcycles from early models to about the 1990's

  • 4/5 Rob B. 2 years ago on Google

Had a good visit. Overall, a bit small, but they were able to fit a nice variety in the space. Some really great history and stories behind most of the vehicles. If you're an automotive enthusiast, it's a nice stop in for about an hour.

I love the San Diego Auto Museum. Unlike most auto museums they're constantly rotating stock so you never get bored with the experience and the learning about the history they have San Diego. It's not the biggest Museum but what they have is breathtaking. Not just the automobiles but also motorcycles as well. If you haven't gone make it a priority. You won't regret it.

  • 4/5 Ken M. 1 year ago on Google
Small but mighty. Looks like they had about 40 cars and about 40 motorcycles. All the way from concepts to classics, quite an impressive collection, beautifully displayed.

All involved that put together this Cajon Speedway event at the San Diego Automotive Museum Sunday August 7 did an awesome job. All the administrative help was fantastic. Could not have been any better than recognizing Jerry Gay and Vance Butler for there effort in racing as well as their wins and championships. Also, Becky McBride always, always does an outstanding job getting all of us together. It sounds like new and exciting things are ahead to help our kids in this industry....I can't wait to see the success! Thank you for a great experience! Dave

Full of rare and historic automobiles and motorcycles. Deloreon you can sit in. REO speed wagon. 2020 Ford GT. Custom Dodge Spider. Later edition Ford Model-T. Original Chevy Electronic Ignition. Indians. Harley Davidsons. Lots of other rare and beautiful automobiles. An incredible small museum. If you like fine, historical and innovative cars and motorcycles this is your place. They included a few lemons as well. It’s a bit on the small size, one of the smallest museums in Balboa Park. However, a MUST-see for those with the Explorer pass. Not a comprehensive automotive museum, but has a range of cars and motorcycles that WILL NOT disappoint those who admire fine engineering. A true gem in San Diego. My son wishes this place were much larger, as he read nearly every plaque and admired the cars in less than two hours. Still, it is a deep experience in auto history.

This place is amazing. Recommend to any car enthusiast. They have some gentlemen there that are incredibly knowledgeable and courteous. Unique vehicles, very clean, very organized.

Fun. For the price ($8 a ticket) you get what you pay for. Cars with descriptions. It’s a one way museum with some cool gags, like a delorean and a racing simulator (not operational while we visited). Spent around 45 minutes there, but you could spend more time. Wouldn’t go back unless they updated things, but for what it is, it’s fun!

  • 5/5 Zach L. 4 years ago on Google
Great prices, cool cars. We only spent a couple hours here but I love cars and it was cool seeing all these older cars with all the history attatched to them. They had lots of lowriders when I went which I'll be honest is definitely not my thing but I appreciate all automotive craftsmanship. I kind of wish they had a bigger gift shop but I got a couple cool metal signs while I was here. Great motorcycle section of the museum also, I learned a lot about lots of different cars I didnt even know existed and I learned more about cars that I did know about. Would love to come back here.

  • 5/5 Emily G. 4 years ago on Google
This museum was worth the money! Look for the 2 for 1 admission coupon on the counter of the International Gift Shop - just $12 for 2 people. They had the Low-Rider event going on with amazing detail of cars and art. The displays were very informative and choice of cars were superb. The gentleman who was there was so interesting with details & stories. This is a smaller museum but packed with good displays!

  • 5/5 Cindy R. 4 years ago on Google

Wow, there are some really cool cars to see here! Unfortunately only half the museum was open the day we went and they were also taking more cars out while we were walking around. So many motorcycles to see also. Was a lot of fun to see such a great mixture of old and new cars plus lots of fun facts that I'd never heard before.

  • 5/5 Lyndsy F. 4 years ago on Google

As a car fanatic it is amazing. They give you information and quality cars. They make sure that the cars that are being borrowed are not touched or harmed. I cant wait to go their again when they rotate in new cars!

  • 4/5 Trey 4 years ago on Google
Definitely worth a stop if you are seeing some of the other museums in the area and want to kill some time. This is not a huge museum but they do have a great collection of cars to see and they rotate most of the cars out every 4 months, so you might end up seeing something new and unique the next time you stop by. There are cars, motorcycles, and few old vintage cars. The museum has a collection that closely resembles some of the automotives that are shown on the History channel show American Pickers. If you're into older automotives then this is definitely a good place to check out.

Parts of the museum were free on Tuesday so my friend and I went down to see the advertised cars. When we approached the advertised section of cars they wanted $2.00. The small amount of money was not a problem but advertising deceptively was a problem. I call it lying. Next time you advertise be honest. Just charge $5.00 for adults to see everything. That would be a deal.

Not as good for the price when considering other museums in California as well as the Barber Vintage Museum in Alabama. Small assortment of vehicles and very difficult to find parking since it's shared with the air museum and yhe Prada. It took us over 30 minutes to park and if you have a disabled family member you won't even find an available disabled parking space.
