😠 Just terrible. This wouldn't be so bad if it was free admission, but they're actually charging $30 at the door per head plus a $3 fee for each ticket. On top of that, you have to pay an extra $30 if you want to see the exclusive Spider-Man exhibit. I can't speak to the Spider-Man exhibit because I... Just terrible. This wouldn't be so bad if it was free admission, but they're actually charging $30 at the door per head plus a $3 fee for each ticket. On top of that, you have to pay an extra $30 if you want to see the exclusive Spider-Man exhibit. I can't speak to the Spider-Man exhibit because I did not feel like a $30 is a reasonable price point, so I opted to see the other exhibits instead. Honestly, I felt like the exhibits they chose for the Comic-Con museum were quite lackluster. There wasn't too much to do in the museum. The most interesting part was the Pac-Man exhibit on the ground floor, but other than that everything else was very lame. Don't understand how they're trying to charge $30 for something like this. It just seemed like a huge waste of time. Honestly. You can seriously see everything in the museum in about 20 minutes, and that's if you take your time. Definitely not worth it. I would skip this one if I were you.

It was okay, they didn't have all the Batman statues like above. More Marvel than DC memorabilia. The theater was the coolest to watch the old school Bug Bunny cartoons (real cartoons). A little pricey to walk through and view. Thank you, R&R

There are so many great museums in Balboa Park, but Comic-Con Museum is not one of them, sadly. For such cost, I'd probably go somewhere else rather than spending 25 minutes in here. There is almost nothing to see (even for the geeks). Few exhibits are decent (5-7 minutes of my time), others I have never even heard about. Overall, there is a huge lack of content. I had had a more pleasant experience visiting just a comic book store than the museum. I don't recommend going unless it's free or close to it.

It's not a huge museum but it's packed with tons of interesting Sci fi and comic related stuff. Unfortunately some of the interactive exhibits were not working, but most were such as the robotic potato claw! I would say it's about 50% Sci fi / Technology and 50% comic depending on what's on exhibition. So don't expect a mini Comic Con experience. But it is still really engaging and well presented!

The museum is pretty cool but not as extensive as you would expect for the ticket price. I was able to really view the bulk of the space (3 floors) in about a half hour to an hour. The museum did have some cool artwork and displays from past comic cons. Unfortunately this museum is no longer included in the multiple museum pass for Balboa Parks museums and might not be worth the seperate ticket cost.

They give this three almost 2, this museum need a little more work, I spent 45 minutes out, do you have a kids you might spend a little longer, if someone else says it has more to do with science-ish then comic con :( , does have potential but not quite yet, I was hoping to see all the Batman costumes but they were none:( I spent over three hours after air and space Museum next door:) Little more pricier but not much, A lot more to see…

Had a blast overall but not an incredible amount of stuff to look at or do. I still highly recommend it but you can see everything in about an hour and half. A lot of cool interactive stuff but you can tell that everything is just temporary.

This was our first visit to San Diego The train ride on Amtrak was amazing. The views spectacular and my Son loved the train as usual. Comic Con museum was amazing and not just because of Spider-Man. Staff were super friendly and the overall experience is not to be missed. Thank You all for a welcome that was so warm and best part was the location in Balboa park so much to do and see. A repeat visit is needed.

A permanent Star Trek exhibit is a great edition to this museum. The exhibits change periodically. The day I went, the Rocketeer exhibit and Archie comics were being highlighted. The original artwork in all the exhibits is phenomenal. The museum has lots of unused space. I can only imagine what items will fill this space in the future. The staff is well versed in comic con history.

So great to finally be able to go in the museum. They had a Pac-Man exhibit with plenty of arcade stations for anyone to play. Also saw the exhibit on classics like Archie, Sabrina, etc. The cardboard figures exhibition was amazing, but spent most of my time in the Star Trek section. Live long and prosper Comic-Con.

Good info, very interactive but not sure if I recommend it. For the $25 admission it expected more. Like real customs from movies, original object that belongs to a famous movie at least something that belongs to Walt Disney. But nothing. The only thing like that is a funko signed by Stan Lee, that's it 🙄

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed the Comic Con Museum. The throwback cartoons of our childhood such as Gumby and Flintstones were included as well as everything up to the present day Naruto. There was a fun scavenger hunt to help us view the displays more thoroughly looking for our list of items. Highly recommend for all ages! It's in Balboa Park near the Automotive and Flight Museums. Great gift shop with a solid variety.

I really feel like the name of the museum is quite a misnomer. It should be called a science museum with Comic-Con exhibits than the Comic-Con Museum with science exhibits. As you can see in my photos, there was an emphasis on science based technology presented in movies like Back to The Future and Terminator and less specifically dedicated to the marvel (no pun intended) we call Comic-Con. The basement level was dedicated to the contributions of Stan Lee. The second level was dedicated to sci-fi technology and the third level has some prints of a comic I never read as a kid. They have an activity center with very helpful attendants but it doesn't make up for the fact that there was very little Comic-Con history there, for a museum called the Comic-Con Museum.

It was a bit too pricey for what it was. The entire bottom floor was just closed off and they didn’t tell us ahead of time, so maybe half of the museum was just inaccessible. This left a section about animation and another small section about pac man and upstairs was an animation drawing activity where you ink a transparency or make an animation wheel. All of the comics were downstairs in the blocked off area so overall had nothing to do with comics or comic con culture besides cartoons and the one pac man room. I believe the exhibits change so double check what they have before you go. I was overall disappointed though. We paid $25 per adult and that was way overpriced.

Honestly pretty lame. Museum had nothing cool. The bottom area was being renovated, i feel like they should have given us a discount instead of charging us the full price for a ticket if you dont have everything to display. Please refer to this photo of card board groot as my face the entire time.

If you are comic book or fan of movies derived from comic books, you have to come visit. What a wonderful place to go to for fans, especially the younger ones. The Spiderman exhibit is coming in July until the end of the month. The gift shop is open on Sundays from 10am to 6pm. The staff were friendly the location was nicely laid out with a curated selection of books on how to draw comics and make comic books. Lots of great hard cover comic book compendiums are available from purchase right from the gift shop. There is plenty of parking right out front and convenient bathrooms.

Very small collection. We were done in 25 minutes. No batman suits. I think I've seen more things at a thrift store. Sorry but maybe the grand opening will be much better!

We came to see the Batman collection during comic con. I'm not a huge comic person but I with my fiance and his 10 year old! It was definitely a big collection for it only being about Batman and the life size replicas and Batmobiles were pretty cool. However it was definitely a let down from what I read before and what I thought it was going to be. We definitely wouldn't go again as it was basically 1 and 1/4 of a floor and took us less than an hour and a half to go through. We spent the same amount of time waiting in line to get in and that doesn't even count the time it took to find parking. But it was free and it was a cool thing to go do on a Sunday when we didn't have to Comic con tickets. It allowed us to do something and be kinda involved in the events! I wish I could do half stars. As this would be closer to 4 for being free!

Pro Tip: Use the restrooms inside the Museum. The Public restroom outside are DISGUSTING and a 3 month old porta-potty would be an upgrade. We arrived about 10:45am on 7/10/22 and there was a huge line out front and a lady speaking to the line...like it was a tour or something. We opted to buy our tickets there, as it was $3 per ticket as a processing fee. We later found out that the people waiting out front already had tickets, but were waiting for their allotted time to enter. It would be cool if the lines had some sort of sign or something. We finally made inside to purchase tickets and got 11:30am, not too bad, but we were told we had to wait outside till then to enter. Overall, spent $118 for two adults and 2 students - so pricey. The museum promised 3 floors - middle floor was awesome - the brand new Spiderman exhibit. Super interactive and state of the art. They had a live Spiderman actor, that didn't quit look like the real Spiderman if you know what I mean (he was much taller and not as thin) The lower floor had DC costume mannequins and a Batman along with a movie theater. The top floor had exhibits of various unknown prints but with a cool Archie exhibit and Rocketeer/Betty Page exhibit. My son (16 years old) stated - clearly you see where the budget went (meaning to the Spiderman exhibit). We spent about 1.5 hours inside and purchased a couple things from the gift shop. My kids did the scavenger hunt and got a 2020 comic con museum pin (I thought it was 2022?). Last stop was the PacMan exhibit by the front entrance that we totally missed coming in - they have free play on all of the machines!

Comic Con Museum is the perfect place for someone who loves pop culture. They had the Batman 80 Years Experience when I visited the museum. It's totally free and there's so much to do in there. There was an actual bat cave inside with a few PS4 which you could try playing Batman Arkham Knight. The lines might be long but they move really quick.

Very little to see inside and I was very disappointed the batman suits weren't there. Not worth the cost right now as spending more than a half-hour here is generous, unless you really love playing free Pac-Man. Will hopefully be worth it once they fill it up and have a more grand opening.

We went to the museum specifically to see the Spider-Man exhibit. However we were able to take in the rest of the space as well. I think they have a good idea and a good beginning but I'd like to see a lot more Comic-Con specific memorabilia and history. I definitely enjoyed the exhibits as they are. And I think every Comic-Con fan should check it out. Just make sure there's an exhibit you really want to see otherwise you'll probably be bored after about 20 minutes.

Hold onto your fandom, it's happening. The magic of Comic-Con all year round. Set to open in 2021, the Comic-Con Museum will bring the passion, imagination, and creativity to Balboa Park, San Diego. Driven by a passionate community of fans, the Comic-Con Museum will encourage an appreciation of comics and related popular arts through exhibits, programs and events drawn from across the Comic-Con universe. The Comic-Con Museum will be a year-round operation, manifesting the same values of accessibility, curiosity and appreciation that have driven the organization’s world-famous conventions. Through exhibits that refresh frequently and consistently, and programs that offer opportunities to learn, experience, and participate, the Museum will continue to build awareness and appreciation for the valuable contribution of popular culture. The Museum will be visitor-focused, whether a Comic-Con fan or a member of the general public and will provide engrossing experiences that engage curiosity and inspire learning.

Very fun and interesting place, they even have some craft activities for Kids and adults . They also have an exhibition about the first time humans went to the moon and a robot and AI exhibition as well. They also offer excavation hunter game with gifts for the people that finds what they ask for. There's very nice people you can even find volunteers here and you can volunteer yourself, they have a specific place that changes exhibition every since then and a Comicon Cosplay winners Costumes exhibition. Highly recommended 👌

This place is shaping up to be something special when it opens to the public next year! We just saw the Batman Experience during comicon and it was so well set up and organized! Major props for making the experience a great one! Cannot wait to come back when they open for public. The pricing during these events is horrid FYI. They could use traffic control for these major events in the future as it took 20-25 minutes to leave the parking lot.

For a comic con museum, there was very little to do with comic con. Most of the museum was focused on technology and science. The technology and science exhibits weren't even that much of interest.

  • 4/5 Rose V. 1 year ago on Google
What a way to end my comic con trip. Exhibits are well done. They are currently showcasing Spiderman on the main floor with props from the films and comics and photo ops. Because I am also a theatre nerd I wish they expanded on the Broadway show with more than a two sentence blurb (I highly recommend Wait in the Wing's video on it) There are mini exhibits to Pacman (with playable games that are free), Rocketeer, and Archie and cosplay costumes. I visited everything they had to offer including their two stores within an hour I knocked off a star because the $30 price is way too much. $15 would be reasonable and much more affordable esp for families and groups. Merch prices are what you expect. Still a fun museum to check out if you enjoy the culture and lore of San Diego Comic Con

This is a nice place to take some photos. The photos came out to be nice like you are in the real background, blended in, and have fun. I like the photos I took. However the room seems to be kinda small, and it is kinda pricey for what it is. It's just a painted wall. My friend did not like it. But if you are someone who like photos, you will like it.
