Awesome place with great examples of Marine Corps aviation. Very well laid out with lots of displays in relatively closed/small area allowing you to not have to walk far to see so much for those who love aviation this place doesn’t disappoint! Each display gives you information about the aircraft on display and arranged for great photo opportunities! There’s also indoor displays and a wonderful gift shop with lots of great items!

Last time I visited this museum was 2004 & the museum hasn't changed, but they have added more aircraft & helicopters to their collection. Free parking & admission including an overflow lot across the entrance that has a beautiful collection of jets & military vehicles. Very child friendly location & on weekends they have open cockpits so you can get behind the controls of some aircraft. Gift shop has everything on sale for 50% off so there are some great deals on museum merchandise. Sadly this museum is permanently closing on April 1, 2021. Hours 9am-3:30pm Fri-Sat. They have a flyer to get members of Congress involved to save the museum so help out if you can.

I would highly recommend this museum for any Marines or Flying Leathernecks to make a visit to this museum. Very informative staff, lots of pictures of World II to present day era. My husband is a Vietnam veteran and he really enjoyed the history of this museum. I was surprised at how many wars used dogs in their wars. They were photographed as well, very interesting place to see if in San Diego. A must see.

Admission is free, but they ask for a $5 donation, which is completely worth it. They have helicopters and jets on display that have historical significance. The staff are retired military and very knowledgeable, one of them was present during the attack on Pear Harbor and it was an honor to shake his hand.

What a piece of history! This is an excellent place to come and learn about the local history of Mira Mar and aviation. The staff is so welcoming and exited to share the experience with guests. I highly recommend bringing in friends and family to see what history is holds and enjoy a free afternoon.

Loved this free museum with knowledgeable volunteer staff. Interesting static displays and not crowded. Talked with Daniel about his service in the navy and things about the museum and local area. Plan for upwards of 2 hours to see everything but could easily do a short visit of 30 minutes to just see the static displays.

It was a nice day to spend a Sunday morning with the family at the museum. The kids enjoyed running around looking at the planes abs tanks. The gentleman who checked people in was really nice and knowledgeable. We took many pictures. Too bad it’s going to be closing soon.

A great place to go check out some anes and other things that the Marines used. The day I went they had open cockpit day on a few things like a helicopter an A-5 jet and a trainer plane. It is free but I always donate to help keep places open.

We hit up this cool "road side attraction" before hitting lunch. There's about 25 planes/Jets and helicopters to see, and a few you can even sit in. It's fun, but hot on the wrong day. We spent about 45 minutes her and saw everything.

Fantastic little museum with a lot to see. If you're like me and have to take several photos of everything, set aside at least 5 hours to explore. They close early (3pm) so keep that in mind!

Such a cool display of our military's airplanes, helicopters and tanks! My daughter who is 2 absolutely loved it. As for us adults it was a great history lesson. Admission was free which was nice for us tight on money, but they did have a donations box which we put in whatever we could afford. Staff was also very friendly which was the cherry on top 😁

Nice assortment of aircraft from US Marine Aviation history. They are working on expanding to a larger building/hangar; haven't broken ground yet though. The entrance is easy to miss if you don't know to look for the flags; Marine Corps Colors and US Flag. Closed on Mondays though.

I have lived very close by for years, but I have never taken the time to actually stop and explore all that this place has to offer until today. I went with my father and my two year old son. It was open cockpit day, so they had three aircrafts that we were able to sit in and explore in more detail. I had a blast watching my two year old enjoy exploring and looking at all of the different planes and other items they had, as well as watching my dad reminisce on his military days as he looked at the planes he used to work on in the early 70s. Overall, this is a great place to spend some time learning about the aircrafts and their history and getting to get a closer view of them. It's free and the items in the gift shop are all very reasonably priced. They do accept donations at the front, and all proceeds from refreshments, donations, and gift shop items go right back into the museum and it's upkeep. I'm glad that I took the time today to visit this place after passing by it nearly every day for so many years. A great place for kids and adults alike! I will definitely bring my son back here in the near future and many more times as he gets older. I hope it continues to remain open and in San Diego.

We found street parking that wasn't so far so it was nice. Very crowded and just what you would expect - selfie central. The lights were beautiful as the pictures shown. A great place to come hang with friends or a date.

Incredibly friendly staff and wonderful experience. Aviation history is a story filled with brave women and men. The tale began with iron people and wooden planes. It transformed over the years because of our willpower, determination, ingenuity, and fighting spirit.
