The stones are shiny, colourful and beautiful but the variety and quantity of the stones are too small to make this a 'museum'. Very little information is provided on the name, origin, dating etc of the stones. Unless you are knowledgable and interested in stones, it will not be a memorable visit for you.

Such a plethora of knowledge about all things mineral, silver fabrication and chasing & repoussé. Multiple blue ribbon winners for first place, from the San Diego County Fair, in jewelry design are here. They are cutting stones or fabricating a piece of art out of silver or copper. The people here are kind and genuinely interested in seeing you succeed as a lapidary or silversmith. Classes are $5 as of now and the only other thing to buy is a membership. There is a museum separate from the workshops which is right by the gift shop. The gift shop has one of a kind pieces from numerous on-site artists. Support local and support handmade. I once heard statements that resonate with me to this date "Life is to short to wear machined jewelry. Shop Handmade. Shop Local." Stop in and see what it is all about they will show you around the place too! If you like rocks, jewelry or want to learn a new hobby - this is your place!

I had a great time looking through the rings and Bonnie was very nice! I purchased the middle ring shown made by Jill Williamson. Would definitely recommend you check it out.

Nice selection of items to buy. Lloyd was very knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. Building is a little run down and has an old wood smell. They also have selections of gems and minerals from all over. Worth a visit if you're around the park.

As native San Diegans, one of the highlights when we take guests on a tour of our fine town. It's a literal treasure trove of gems and stones set back in Spanish Village. The jewels are housed in glass cases with shelves that spin. Pricing on various pieces is so affordable. The people behind the counter have many stories to tell. We love this place. One of San Diego's best-kept "secrets."

For the amateur geologist among us. You will be able to see the difference between gneiss, granite, dolimite and gold. You learn alot here" no mistaking it will make you look at the mountains, cliffs, valleys and the desert differently.

What a great place! Go on Wednesday mornings when lapidary and jewelry making classes are going on. Ask for a tour of the workshops. And there is an extensive, and reasonable, gemstone jewelry store that is a must-see.

Ummm. Kinda cool, and I love rocks. Sorta like visiting my uncle George's basement... Strange, but worth the stroll through.

Very worthwhile! Some displays are goofy, whereas others are full of marvelous specimens. It's just one room but it's still a lot to look at. You get to see the beautiful art center too. Pretty affordable jewelry, though I just browsed.
