Plenty of grass to train any sport or to sit and relax. The walking path around the park is a mile long so it's convenient for people that are keeping track on their walking or running habits. The two outdoor basketball courts are in good shape and it's always fun to play some ball with random people. Personally I come here to walk, play basketball, exercise or at times enjoy the nice view.

We just stopped by so the kids could play for a little while. It's always fun for them. It is a very historic park, I finally got to see the memorial.

What a mass of beautiful greenery. Any outdoor sport you want to practice, this is the park to do so. Community Parks create memories for birthdays, holding hands, kickball, learning to ride the bike and sometimes relaxing under the sun. By the way this is a good park to learn to roller skate. Montgomery Waller is surrounded by homes, near schools, the community library, senior housing and actual vibrant neighborhoods. It is quite a beautiful layout of this park. From a couple of baseball fields, full on outdoor basketball courts, paved walkways and walking trails, and play areas. It's a lot of land. If you can't social distance here, then there's a problema. As you walk the unmarked course around the park you may see cheerleaders practicing, litte league baseball, Pop Warner football, AYSO soccer, father's pushing baby carriages, celebration of birthdays and dog walkers. I really enjoy how this park is elderly friendly and safe. The paved walkways is very clean and flat and no cracks, crevices or unleveled ground. There are several manageable inclines and declines. If I was too start a walking or running club I would train at this park. In fact, I see groups doing yoga, tai-chi and cartwheels. It's biiiig. There are two areas of play structures that will likely become boring after a couple of times because expansion needs to happen. The rec center where classes are offered is atop the hill and classes are usually free. I saw Zumba having a blast. Also, there are dog poop bag boxes which offer free bags. Don't let your dog poop on the paved clean walkway. The cons to this park are a few: Limited toilets. I saw one outhouse, and two single toilets in this big park. I guess because this neighborhood is 90% diverse, perhaps they don't use toilets. I guess. Cause this is ignorant for this space to not have real toilets around the entire Park area. The other con, is the walkway should be marked with mileage markers. Parking is available in the lots or around the park. I come here once a week and enjoy it a lot. It is mostly an unshaded park from morning to evening. It's not impossible to find shade but it is a task. Bring your umbrella and/or canopy. You will thank me later. Absolutely, I would recommend this park if you are near the area. Would I make a special trip? Ummm, probably because it is a best kept secret; many people don't know it exists. If you're a trainer or have an exercise class or meet up outdoor meditation, this is a perfect place to do it.

I grew up around this area, walking by this park brings back lots of memories and now I get to experience it with my daughter, we celebrated her birthday on the park, just randomly hanged a piñata with candies, invited family over, improvised with wrapping a baseball bat instead of a piñata stick 🤭lol and invited kids from the park, it was so much fun, it was baby girl's first time hitting a piñata, she was so scared, grandma had more fun😅...🤗🙃 ...🍭🍬🪅🥰

It use to be in better condition and safer to exercise. There are dogs without a leash, they are sometimes running after children and adults running for exercise. There are places very wet and others very dry. They are operating the sprinkles in inconvenient times of the day. Why don't they turning on when people are not in the premises?

I've been coming here my whole life. I played baseball here growing up, I flew my kites here as a kid, I rode my bike, I played basketball, Ive used the playgrounds, the stands, I know the workers in the recreation center, this park is still by far the best park in south San Diego maybe even in general. Very spacious for family and kids, enough to hold events, bbq, baseball, soccer, basketball games and people running, jogging, and enough parking for all. After raining time (end of spring before summer) there is a massive bloom that lights up the area in yellow every year, never fails to disappoint. Not to mention the great sunsets/rise and view of Otay, San Ysidro to Imperial Beach, Tijuana and you can even see downtown.

A very large Park, looks to be about 5 acres, has 3 baseball fields, 5 basketball courts, and walking trail at least 3 miles, enough space for 5 soccer games.

This park is huge. If you walk all the way around the perimeter and hit near all the corners, it's a bit over a mile in circumferance. And the windy sidewalk paved walking trails internally are popular for locals to walk themselves, and their pets, or jog/run. There are huge grassy areas, shady trees, baseball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, an inside Gym with basketball court, bathrooms, water fountains. There are some picnic tables in a few areas for parties, or family picnics. Plenty of parking in 3 seperate large lots on the North, South, and SouthEast sides.

This park is descent but it is so dirty. There is trash everywhere. I saw park staff doing anything at all. They should clean this park more often because they are getting pay with tax money.

Went there Saturday evening with the grandkids thete was a free family event. They played a kids movie in a big screen out in the park. They also provided free water bottles, juice, coco, hot dogs, chips all free to anyone there. I arrived a little late and missed out on some if the events I believe there was also music. Public restrooms were available. It was a nice family outing. My grandkids enjoyed. Thank you to the providers of this family event.

Real estate-wise, this is a huge park. They have numerous baseball fields and space for numerous soccer fields. There are restrooms and a small snack window that is probably only open during games. There is a playground, but it is pretty minimal.

  • 5/5 Laurie C. 1 year ago on Google
They have nearly everything here! A rec center, plenty of adult and children's programs, paths to walk/bike on, playgrounds, a basketball court, a baseball and futbol pitch, picnic tables, and a giant wing. The wing is from an old B-bomber, and there's a memorial there to early aviators. There's an incredible panorama view from the wing, too. Various local sporting programs have a niche, team's play here. I'm sure the rec center will be helpful in connecting families to teams. It has lots of beautiful open areas to walk/play in. There are two parking lots, come early on weekends or else plan on alternative places to park. It's not far from Imperial Beach and surrounding businesses, so picking up a bag, box, or carryout meal is easy if you don't want to pack up your own food. Wear sun block, bring water. And have a great afternoon.

Beautiful place. The basketball court is awesome. The walking path through the park is awesome. The views of the cities and ocean from the parking lot is awesome. I usually come here to relax, sing or rap my heart out. If you catch men there and want to join me in a duet, please, do not hesitate to ask. I'll probably say no but it will make me happy that you want to sing with me. Ok
