Great place to cool off and get fresh air. There is parking if you are patient even on busy summer days. Dog and kid friendly, there are clean public restrooms and snack bars with fair prices near the fountain park ($1 bottles of water!) There are spots to sit to watch the water and boats.

This is a fantastic spot to come with children. There’s the splash pad section which is pretty much for all ages. The city keeps it very clean and no pets are allowed. It’s nice that it’s by a big grassy area which you can come with an umbrella and snacks. There’s also the park part which is designed for kids 2 and up. The park is very nice but there were some homeless people that got on the playground and were scaring the kids. The park is fantastic but security should be tighter at this park for families to feel safe.

OMG! My sister who lives in San Diego brought us here with the kids to the splash park! This place is amazing for children. I can't recommend this enough. Where to start? So much to do, endless water play - kiddos literally couldn't get enough of it. And then a huge playground with so much to explore. Absolutely lovely. Get there early, find parking and plan to have sandos on the lawns or grab food nearby. Brilliant day outing. Can't wait to visit again when we are back to SD!

I've been emotionally distraught, mentally drained and physically exhausted! Waterfront Park, Almost immediately took my Anxiety away! Park was Peaceful and Serene! Yet, full of Life! People, Cars, Bicycles, Skateboarding, Dogs playfully running, children splashing in the waterfall, Homeless people laying down on Benches, Security Guards Canvassing area, Ships Standing, Boats Gliding thru the Ocean and Glistening, Ripples Dancing on the water! Clear Baby blue Skies with the most Life Giving Light that Calmed My Heart Wrenching Troubled Heart n Warmed Me Up Inside soothing my inner most Demons and turned them into Dare I say Sparkling Diamonds! This is what I needed to brighten my Spirits and Help me see Bright Sunshine Thru My Deeply Clouded Thoughts and Opened Up The Way to Seeing That All Is Good With The Universe and I just need to Take a Moment to Soak in the Many Reasons to be Grateful for the Simple things and center myself with Nature! & Nature will run its course!

We love the waterfront park. During the summer we’re there a couple times a week. Even in the cooler months the shallow water with the black bottom keeps the water warm. We love hitting the New Childrens Museum and then the waterpark. There are food trucks nearby on the weekends too. There are benches with shade but those areas also have some loose decomposed granite so if you want to be in the grassy part and not get dirty, bring an umbrella. Depending on which security guard is there, you may not be allowed to play with water toys. It’s really nice that the playground is right there, it provides hours of engagement and group play in the water and the playground! It’s also sweet that people getting married stroll by :) the gardens on the north side provide a meditative walk too. Only downside is parking can be hairy and during the summer they sometimes close down the area for music festivals.

This park is right outside SD County office on Harbour drive. This place has changed a lot in past two years. The addition of water play area is a hit amongst people of all groups. Kids to adults they just enjoy playing in the water or sitting with their toes dipped watching the ships sail by. Also the play park and walking trails are well developed and positioned if someone wants to take a stroll. The underground parking lot is ideally located so that you do not have to cross any roads to reach this beautiful spot and is just a few steps away. Must visit if you are visiting SD downtown.

Beautiful and safe park with water features, rock climbing wall and many other gymnastic types of equipment for kids. Park is just across the street and in view of the ocean, boardwalk and Star of India sailing ship. The city and county municipal building is next door plus the park has uniformed security present.

wow wow wow, I’m from Vancouver and I flew up to attend an event here and this venue is just fabulous. I love the length, beauty of it right by the water, the well designed fountains, the layout. It’s truly a fabulous park and the park rangers were so kind and genuinely cared about public safety

Love the location. It's near the city hall and the waterfront. Walking distance to the cruises and USS midway. The playground is very modern. It's very well kept. They have ample tables and chairs. Overall, it's a great place to bring kids to play around.

Park is so much fun for kids. Can get busy and parking is limited. There's not a lot of natural shade, so bring an umbrella or canopy. Security also walks around and makes sure everything is cool. All in all a nice way to spend a hot day

It was the perfect day. Sun was shinning the weather was sweet here. We brought our food and beverages there was plenty of other people but everyone was social distancing. The bathrooms were open and super clean. There was security at all times counted about 6 of them. The kids had a blast in the water we had a blast watching them. Definitely something to do more often.

With world class views of the San Diego Harbor and the historic Star of India, this public park is everything we need and didn't realize we wanted. A fun and safe space for children and families to congregate and cool off. Parking can be challenging depending on what day and time you go but that comes with the territory as it's a public space. There are restrooms and a deli/Cafe for your convenience as well as benches and picnic tables. Bring a blanket and some towels. Pack some snacks and make a day of it. The kids will thank you for it and you'll thank me soon thereafter. I didn't see any creepers there that day... in fact I looked and looked and kept my open for a creeper only to discover that that creeper was me. I'm the weirdo. I'm the one people are not sure about. Hot dangit.

In the heart of downtown San Diego's Little Italy, Waterfront Park becomes my dynamic outdoor gym. The it's fun to do pushups against the backdrop of the waterfront. Here, the diverse community converges at this scenic spot, making it an ideal haven for personal growth or just a good place to relax.

Great set up for kids and families. Ideal spot to spend some time outdoors with the family with plenty to do. The play ground is spacious and fun for kids of all ages. Parking is difficult and the water fountain features not on. But still lots of fun and the views around the bay and Port Amazing. There are public restrooms, a snack bar and food vendors all around.

Really nice park with well manicured gardens, fountains, and art installations. Great place to picnic and bring kids and pets. Although, dogs are not allowed in the fountains. The park is located right next to the San Diego County Administration center, just across the street from San Diego Harbor. So there are plenty of tourist attractions (Star of India, museums) and other activities in the immediate area.

Awesome park! New playground equipment, sea saw, swings, jungle gym, and giant hill with a super big slide (dangerous for the young ones). No sand pit. Kids are allowed in the water fountain as well (no toys). Great area for spending the day and catching some sun. Across the street is the embarcadero with pirate ships. This park has bathrooms and active security guards (keep out the homeless).

Water starts filling up around 10 am but the fountains don’t turn on until 11 am! Super fun spot. Pretty easy to social distance as long as other parents are doing their part. Not a lot of shade but you could bring your own tent or umbrella. Cute little lunch/coffee shop on the south side

This park is cool and so close to so many other things. What a cool walk around the waterfront area. So much to see even in the winter time (December). We walked, but you can rent a scooter and ride around the area but I needed to get my steps in. Everyone will enjoy the views. The Midway (carrier 41) as well as other carriers visible on Coronado Island from here. The Midway Museum was not open due to COVID. Hope you enjoy this walk and please Thumbs up pictures if you like them.

I am impressed with San Diego’s water front. It’s old ships and submarines even an aircraft carrier. Maybe I am being picky but I think San Diego can do better for their downtown kids park. They should look at Seattle Science Centers rope park for a comparison. It has a lot more for the children to climb around on and is more challenging. Hopefully the city council will upgrade it sometime.👍🏻

I hadn't been in a long time, like a decade. Decided to take my boyfriend and we left after 10 minutes. A lot of loitering. Bathroom was disgusting. The murals are fun to look at but you can't enjoy if you're afraid of standing around to long. Last time I was there a local friend took me. I wish I could write a better review but it didn't feel safe.

We love this public park, for it's great location along the San Diego Bay, the cool ocean breezes, the fun water feature, the grassy area to play sports (although the grass has dried out due to the drought), and the playground with all sorts of attractions for the kids. Its a must anytime I'm in san diego. Great playground and don't forget an extra set of clothes for the kiddos to splash around in!!Street metered parking is the trickiest, but that's usually the norm in any downtown area. Plenty of paid lots around the park.

After the renovation, Waterfront Park is now a destination in San Diego for children and families during the summer days. At night it has many festivals and events for 21+. The water features are meant to be played in so bring a swimsuit!! There are large new playgrounds and swaths of grass and trees along the water features. It's also boasts plenty of paid parking $10, clean indoor bathrooms, and several different food shacks in the park. While playing in the fountain you can watch the downtown skyline begin to light up or turn the other way and watch the sunset over the bay and docked boats. You aren't a San Diegan until you've had this experience on a hot summer day!

Love this park for our family! We have lived in little Italy for almost 4 years and this is our go to park. They finally started resurfacing the nasty playground area so we are excited for that. My only gripe is the rules they enforce for the kids toys and bike/scooters. As a local, there is no safe space for my toddler to ride her scooter and security always gives her a hard time. I get it, bird & lime scooters are the worst and incredibly dangerous but I doubt my 30 pound 5 year going the speed of a snail will hurt anyways. Just my two cents, read the room! Motorized scooters suck but let the little kids enjoy some excercise on their little tricycle or scooters. Little Italy is riddled with tourist so we can’t enjoy our sidewalks any more, let them at least enjoy the park.

Fantastic park. Playground for all ages with great climbing structures, swings, 2 huge slides, and even a seesaw! New slip resistant turf was recently installed and it's soft enough to protect against injuries from falls from playground equipment. There is an huge kids' water park near by, where the deepest part of the water is 1 foot—so safe for all kids. There is a huge grass area right next to the park and water park in case you want to play on grass, soccer, picnic, etc. Highly recommend. Plenty of public restrooms and a little restaurant with very good priced snacks and beverages on the park grounds. Lots of parking nearby, but will have to pay either metered parking or in a dedicated paid parking lot. One of the best and most versatile family parks in San Diego! Highly recommend.

This is such a prime location for safe parking if you get there early enough, which my wife and I did! We went for a 4-mile stroller run with our dog to the convention center and back just to see the Comic-Con craziness. The sites were excellent, and it was wonderful to return and relax on the grass while our girls stomped around in the shallow water while the fountain sprayed down on them. Fun fact, I believe it cost almost $50 million to build the park a few years ago. That about caused me to choke, but I was thankful for the expenditure that gave my family such beautiful and tangible benefits!
