Good dog park. Not much of an outside trail for walking, but there are a couple benches to enjoy a view of golf park and beyond. We enjoyed watching dogs play while resting and continuing our walk.

Its a really cool park to go visit with your dogs!!! I was kind of nervous the first time I went, since their is no fence keeping your dog from running out the park, but honestly for some reason they just stay in the area their supposed to, and I have never really had any trouble with my dogs running out. Its a nice park to hang out and have a good time.

Love it here!! Always enjoy seeing all the wonderful dogs playing. Update: I've been coming here for years and I love it. A little bummed that the beautiful grass they put in didn't last long, but whatever. The park is starting to look even better each week. We came to the park one day and saw that they were making the bathroom look amazing bu painting little murals all around. It was nice to see some of these kids painting some of the animals, which looked amazing! So many people were happy to see this! I for one as I stopped to take a picture. BUT, I have to say I was a little disappointed when I came back to the park a couple days later and saw that the murals had been painted over making the bathrooms looked bland as before. I talked to someone else whom frequents there ans it seems that they need a permit to paint the bathrooms as it would be considered "Graffiti!" I would hope the right people will allow this to be painted again as its cheery and fun and makes the park more lively than it already is with our wonderful pups! I'll think good positive thoughts that this gets done sooner rather than later as this park is wonderful and we've met many wonderful friends here.

Grape Street Dog Park in San Diego is an absolute gem! Toby and I can't get enough of this place. It's like a canine paradise right in the heart of the city. The open space allows Toby to run and play to his heart's content, and I love watching him have a blast. The park is always clean and well-kept, which makes our visits even more enjoyable. It's a fantastic spot for both of us to unwind and socialize with other dog-loving folks.

Nice areas for shade for people, chairs, benches and tables for people to relax at. Water bowls in the park for dogs along with several water fountains for water refills. Bathrooms for men & women. Ample amounts of parking. Beautiful surrounding views of the golf course close by. By far one of our top favorite parks. Wear close toed shoes if you don't like dusty feet. 😊👌😉

Wide open space with lots of room for doggies to run. There’s an area with logs and tires that can be used for training or just plain old fun. It’s a lovely park and so many dogs and their owners have a fantastic time here.

This park definitely has the most dogs I have ever seen in one place! Lots of space to roam though, with side trails to other areas, and an agility zone to practice some jumps with your pup. It is not fenced in, so make sure your dog has good recall or stays on a leash

One of the best dog parks around San Diego. It is fenced on the sides facing the rest of Balboa Park and the golf course and has a simple barrier towards 28th Street, which dead-ends to car traffic so is very safe, even if the dogs run off the park. This park is much larger than many other dog parks in San Diego so for those runners, it's a great place to run, chase, and be chased. There's a portion that's shaded by trees and there's open space with grass and dirt. For some reason, most dogs/owners are in the southern side of this park. The northern side has a restroom. And parking is easy.

Love this park because it’s huge and does not have just dirt like many other dog parks. Currently a majority is under renovation and it won’t open back up until the grass grows back. However, there is still a good amount of space for the dogs to run on both sides.

Large, open area dog park. Never had a bad experience here. Plenty of parking. Just be aware the western side is open and that coyotes are known to be in that area and active after dark.

Great off leash dog park. My dog loves this place, and we often walk the trails surrounding this park. Which really gets her the mental stimulation she needs. Depending on the day or time of day it gets a bit crowded. But for the most part lots of the dog owners here are responsible for their pets. Minus a few oblivious ones who forget to watch after their pup and forget to pick up poop, bring some old shoes for when you step in it, not if, but when.

Big open fields for dogs to run around! At the end of a nice quiet street in South Park with adequate parking spaces. One thing that could raise concerns for some dog owners-- there is no safety gate, just a split rail fence between the park and the parking lot/cul de sac. The park also opens up to some parts of the canyon. If your dog is one to take off running, take extra precaution they don't escape the bounds of the park.

Moved to SD a few months ago so I've been trying a handful of dog parks in the area. I love this park! It is a fairly large park which is nice, but it is not a fenced area, so I would be cautious if your dog likes to run off and explore on their own lol. There are always a ton of dogs and people, so my pups always have a great time. There is a lot of seating, so it can be nice to come and sit or read while the dogs play.

We just moved to San Diego and this was the closest dog park to us. What a surprise that it turned out to be the best dog park we've ever been to. So excited to be able to come here much more often.

Parking lot, water fountains, restroom, trees, trails, large dog park area. Unfenced, on the edge of Morley Field trails and golf course. Note: there are coyotes living in canyons, take care mornings & eves if tou bring your dog to play at the park.

Lots of grass, shade, seating, bathrooms, water fountains, trash cans. Everything a dog park needs.

We love grape street dog park! The park has lots of space to play and is always kept clean. As with any off leash dog park, you need to be careful and know your pup. I have seen some aggressive dogs here on occasion, but generally, most dogs are well trained.

Neighborhood gem that other dog owners should definitely check out. Looking over driving range near Golden Hill Park, this large dog park does not feel restrictive due to limited fencing, plenty of trees and a spacious view of downtown. Logs and tires are laid out in one area for agility challenges. Long length allows dog groups to form and space out. In mid morning on a Friday, there were many medium to large dogs for my Aussie to play with. Connects to trails. More shade and fencing than Morley field dog park.

  • 5/5 Theresa D. 2 years ago on Google
This is a great, huge dog park with lots of large mature trees to provide shade. Be aware that there is no fencing surrounding the park and there are trails leading down into the ravine. This wasn't a problem for us since the doggos were playing with each other.

  • 4/5 Kelly Von H. 1 year ago on Google
Huge! So much room for the pups to run. Benches and bathrooms for the humans. Water fountains for the pups and even some extra bowls. Excited about the renovations being done. There is a lot of dirt, my only complaint.

  • 5/5 Taylor B. 1 year ago on Google
Second best dog park I’ve ever been to behind only fiesta island! It is such a joy to have so much space to walk and let the dogs run on GRASS - no wood chips here - lovely jewel.

  • 5/5 Christopher T. 1 year ago on Google
Great dog park with a great location and a lot of room! There also tends to be a lot of dogs, just FYI. My dog usually gets a little overwhelmed with the amount of dogs, so we aren't able to go here as much as we'd like. I also wish there was a chain link fence as opposed to the wood plank fence because my dog tends to get through the fence and runs back towards the car and into the street, which is another reason we aren't able to visit very often.

Best dog park in San Diego 🤩😍 There is a restroom, shade under the giant trees and good views! REAL grass, tons of SPACE and PARKING is a rarity in Southern California, but grape street dog park has it alllll and the doggos love it! The dogs here are always so lovely and we have been coming almost every day for months!!

  • 5/5 Kemner F. 7 months ago on Google
For me, one of the best dog parks in San Diego. Lots of parking, really big space for any and all dogs. Never had any issue with any dogs or their owners. Most of the dogs are socialized and want to play. There is shade and a bathroom as well One thing thou is it is NOT fully fenced. So def not for a dog who is not good on recall and/or wanders

  • 5/5 Jennifer B. 5 months ago on Google
My favorite dog park in San Diego. It's big enough that the lack of fencing doesn't seem to matter. There's usually some grass, so my dog doesn't get as filthy. The best part, though, is that for the most part, the dogs and the people that bring them seem to mostly well trained and conscientious. For such a huge open area, most of the poop is picked up and disposed of properly, and when dogs get out of their owners are generally right on hand to fix it. No dog park is perfect, but this is the best mix I've found in San Diego.

Just moved to SD and adopted a puppy so we've been trying all the dog parks and beaches. Came here early afternoon on a Wednesday and there were a good amount of people with their dogs. Owners were very attentive to their pets and since it's so spread out, there's a lot of room for everyone to enjoy. Also lots of shade! I would like this park more of it the grass area wasn't closed off and the park was fully fenced in.

  • 5/5 Roy F. 9 months ago on Google
Great dog park. Large area, big trees. The only odd thing is there is no fence to keep the dog in, so if your dog is a runner or won't stay with you, this place might not be for you.

Favorite dog park in San Diego

  • 4/5 Santi 3 years ago on Google
The thing that makes this dog park awesome is the people and dogs that go there. Never a shortage of well mannered fur kids to play with my big Dane. Otherwise I would steer clear of the north and south ends of the park since there's no fence and for how big the park is there's only 2 water fountains near the entrance. Parking can be challenging especially during peak hours from 4-8 and Sunday afternoons.

  • 5/5 Gal C. 3 years ago on Google
So much space for the pup to run around and play! The only downside to this place is that it is not fully fenced so your dog can get out from some areas to the parking lot and street. Overall, really good though.

  • 4/5 Jenna C. 3 years ago on Google
Great dog park. I just wish there was some fencing to prevent dogs from running into the canyons.

  • 5/5 Jan Vincent A. 3 years ago on Google
Love this place. Wide open, grass covered, and always plenty with good boys and girls. Restrooms are available. Open leash park but know that the park is not enclosed. There're open access to canyons and the entryway road. The canyon is large contains coyotes and rattlesnakes so definitely be cautious.

  • 4/5 Georgina S. 3 years ago on Google
Lots of room for dogs to run, plenty of parking and places for humans to sit - benches and conveniently large fallen branches! Pretty spot in a nice neighborhood on the edge of downtown San Diego’s Balboa Park. It’s the first dog park I’ve visited that isn’t completely fenced in; all the dogs there during our midday Wednesday visit were well enough behaved to return to their owners if they wandered past the partial fence.

  • 4/5 Dan M. 3 years ago on Google
While there is no gate or fence around the canyon, the dogs are too excited to run off. Responsible pet owners and a great first experience for my 1 1/2 year old lab.

  • 5/5 Tiger T. 3 years ago on Google
My dog likes this park the best in our neighborhood. It's not enclosed with a fence so you have to be careful. It seems I always get dog poop on my shoe when I go to this park though. It's a shame that people aren't monitoring their dogs more closely.

  • 5/5 Eric A. 3 years ago on Google
Cool park. Well sized. Be aware there is no fence so you need a dog that won't run away. Typically pretty busy during the post 5 am dog hangout time

  • 5/5 David C. 3 years ago on Google
We drive all the way from Mira Mesa to take our dog "Pepe" here. Pluses: the park is huge, almost 100% grassy, it's usually breezy, the dogs and people are great, there are usually birds to photograph in the many trees, there are water fountains here and a bathroom, people usually pick up their dog's messes, free parking at the park or surrounding neighborhood, and beautiful views of the Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course, and all the way to downtown San Diego. Surrounding South Park is picturesque with good cafes. You can also hike in nearby Switzer Canyon, about a 5 minute drive.

The park seems to be under maintenance, with some area closed out, however the garbage can was overflowing

  • 3/5 Sara S. 3 years ago on Google
Great dog park for large dogs. It’s a massive park that could be broken down into a small dog area and larger dog area.

  • 5/5 Rob S. 3 years ago on Google
Good park, some grass. Limited fencing, so dogs have to be under control.

  • 5/5 Robert C. 3 years ago on Google
Great place to socialize your dog and let the run and play with others. Plenty of grass and some dirt areas. Everyone is friendly and aside from a few harmless loud scuffles, the dogs play well.

  • 5/5 Jesse W. 3 years ago on Google
Outside of Coronado and Del Mar Dog Beaches, this is my favorite dog park to bring my pup. It's a fairly large and open dog park with no fences, which is a plus in my book. In my experience there seems to be less dog drama when a bunch of dogs aren't confined to small fenced in areas.

Great open space with plenty of room to run around. If your pet is not at least leash trained, don't bring them as there are no barriers from keeping bullets from leaving the area.

Not good. The circus of dogs is disturbing and not good for the area. Take your pet somewhere else.

Best dog park in san diego, hands down. Beautiful, top of a hillshide facing west. Surrounded by old eucalyptus trees, tons of space. A hidden gem. One of my favorite places in san diego for ever and ever. Do it. Your dogs will love you even more!
