We spent a week at this beautiful KOA- thoroughly enjoyed it! The grounds are kept beautifully, with great attention to detail (flowers, Clean sites, grass to surround campsites) that we loved. It is dog friendly and a small off leash park is provided. The pool and 2 hot tubs with plenty of nice lounge chairs made an afternoon of relaxing so perfect! We were there end of Feb/early March, and during the week it was quiet and less activity. Weekends are for families and happy kids, but everything quieted down by 10:30. The community bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities are well maintained and clean. Con: internet stinks but a good reason to unplug. Pricey stay, but lower than a few others we checked out. We highly recommend this family owned KOA- it is terrific.

Excellent campground/resort. Very family friendly. We tent camped in one of the large family spots. There was enough room 2 very large tents, 8 people comfortably as well as 3 cars in our spot. There was also electricity in the site which was a nice touch. Fantastic accommodations: - sparkling pool, two Jacuzzis - Café with excellent food (try the wings and pizza) - playgrounds - clean bathrooms, they were always clean! - huge jumping pillows (jumper in the ground) The kids had so much fun, the staff was super friendly and we cannot wait to come back soon!

Have been bringing our kids here for at least 5 yrs now. I definitely feel like the prices have gone a bit crazy, camping here is going to leave a dent for sure. However the kids love it and there is so much for them to do. The pool, bathrooms and showers are clean! We stayed in the basic cabins again and they are just as expected. Our trip was less pleasant this time due to inconsiderate and rude neighbors in the cabin area. Not only did they just take our table without an ask or apology but they were up until about 2am at least. Their dog was outside barking, kids were shining flashlights DIRECTLY into our windows, parents and kids yelling and screaming at each other. I know staff is out and about all night, this couldn't be missed for hours on end. After a night of no sleep we got up and left asap for the first time ever. I feel bad for anyone camping near them for the rest of the weekend!

Great site for urban camping. Clean facilities. Lots of activities for kids if you want to stay put or you can easily go explore by bike. We biked to the local mall (~5 min) and to the 24th street trolley station (~10 min). From the trolley we biked all around San Diego from Coronado to Old Town.

The campground itself is nice. The pool, cabins and sites. The bathrooms are kept clean. Good laundry. Grounds are manicured. Where we get 2 of 5 stars is the fellow campers. It's party central. We spent 7 nights here and didn't get a single good night's sleep. Every night, one or more neighbors would stay out drinking, yelling until 2 or 3 in the morning. Our fire pit was stolen before we got here. Our picnic table, the 2nd evening we were here. People constantly walking through our site, inches from our RV like it was theirs. Neighbor kids played volleyball using our RV as a backstop. We asked them nicely to stop and they laughed and continued. The parents only stepped in after we yelled at them to stop hitting our RV. Other neighbors played their TV from first thing in the morning until midnight. I could go on, but the bottom line is there are a lot of inconsiderate people here and we couldn't wait to leave.

We just spent two nights in the Eco (glamping) tents and we had so much fun. It was great to get a bit of that camping feel without all the hassle of setting everything up and constantly feeling dirty. The queen bed was quite comfortable and the kids really enjoyed the separate room with the bunk beds. Arriving to a tent that was completely set up and had linens was awesome. They even have bath towels and pool towels for you to use. Having a sink and fridge/microwave in the tent was very nice. There is a private grill for each tent and the camping kitchen was just a few steps away. We could grill and use the stove at the kitchen at the same time. The cooking area was kept very clean. All of the amenities were in good condition and we had a lot of fun using them. The pool and jumping pillows were fun. The kids loved the rock wall and train. We did tie dye and rented bikes. They had a few other games and activities set up that were free for anyone that wanted to join. We will definitely be back and we'll likely bring friends next time.

Clean park, awesome staff. A Bit pricey but Overall great place to bring the family or, fly solo. My deluxe cabin as clean and comfy. I definitely Gotta emphasize the friendly staff, they were great!🙏 Only con…internet was absolutely terrible and did not work at all during my stay. Staff tried to support me but it was just poor internet service.

My family and I camp every summer with a group as large as 30 and as small as 25, and we absolutely love this KOA. It is hands down the best KOA we have stayed at thus far. We usually go camping between June-July, and this location it was perfect for our annual summer camping trip. KOA Chula vista has so much to offer everyone. We move around every year but spent the last 2 years at this location because it was such a beautiful campground and had all of the amenities you could ask for. Every part of the campground that we experienced was well maintained. This will be our new camping home every other year.

We tent camped Easter week. During the week up to Easter it was calm and not a large crowd. Good Friday up to Easter the place was almost maxed out but still wasn’t terribly crowded. Many actives for kids and adults to enjoy. Anytime of the day the bathrooms were sanitary. Bathrooms are huge and always clean. There are plenty of clean, private showers. Go to their web site and check out what activities are happening on your camping week. This was our second trip here and we made reservations for another one before we left.

Stayed at site 1909 with 26 foot trailer. -Absolutely amazing Campground in the middle of an urban city but you still feel like you're secluded. There is a Navy / Marine Corps Base nearby so there was a lot of helicopter traffic but that did not bother us at all, it was actually kind of cool seeing our military aircraft at work. All American Pride. -All of the staff was very friendly and helpful, even when I thought my trailer would not fit in the spot I was assigned (site 1909) I was able to flip around and go against traffic so to speak and back in making it work perfect. I have a 26 ft trailer and it will take some experience getting into this slot. But once in there was plenty of room to park my truck along the raod disconnected in front of my trailer. Also after Comic-Con we got back very late in the gate was locked but we were able to get in contact with the after hours number to get in, thank you late shift. -Also during the trip my toilet regulator broke making water in my trailer impossible, but because there were flush toilets and showers we were able to utilize those making the trip still possible without replacing the toilet. -My only recommendation would be that they need to replace many of the hooks in the showers that were broken and also add a shelf in each shower high enough where your clothes can stay dry. The bench provided was always very wet making you have to bring a second towel to put on the bench just to keep your fresh clothes from getting wet. -Bottom line, I would highly recommend to anyone going camping / traveling in San Diego to utilize this KOA as it is very family friendly and clean. -Thank you to all of the staff for making this an awesome stay while we went to Comic-Con 😃👍

A family friendly campground that works hard to accommodate all guests. The location between freeways makes some of the sites quite noisy. Fortunately, they could accommodate our request to move to a quieter location. We loved watching the families and children enjoy their free time with lots of activities planned for the kids. The facilities were kept clean throughout the busy Easter weekend and there is good shade at the well kept campsites. We would LOVE to see the outdoor TVs managed. We weren't interested in hearing all the latest sports news from the site across the drive, but we did. We asked the front desk to ask the site to turn down the volume, but it had minimal effect. Do others find the use of very large screen TVs with speakers blaring on the outside of RVs annoying? Its not the reason we go to a campground, it seems that is something you can enjoy from your living room at home. At the very least, campgrounds should limit the size of the TVs and the loudness of the audio systems. Fortunately, everyone at the campground shut off the music and TVs at 10 pm as required.

Wonderful place right in the middle of San Diego where you can picture tent build a fire and enjoy the great outdoors. This place is beyond clean and sanitary, bathrooms are always tidy, they have showers that are spotless, and the entire area is continually manicured and looked over by a grounds crew that never slacks. We had a great time here and we're treated very nicely.

Good place to take kids, lots of activities. Showers and bathrooms decently clean. Not great if you want a quiet camping experience, you neighbors are a few feet away and the quiet hours are kind of a suggestion. Oh, and not all of the shower room doors lock, so bring someone to watch the door while you're in there.

This place is nice! I had a deluxe cabin which had a outdoor sitting area witb fire ring and outdoor table and chairs. The rooms were comfortable and had air-conditioning. My fridge was almost full sized. So.e of the cabins have gas stoves and some electric. We rented a cabana one day. That was kinda nice, a place to call your own and escape the sun. They have a pool, rock wall, a overpriced store (cheap stores are minutes away) fields for baseball, a jumping pillow, bike rentals and a little crazy train that zooms around the grounds. We had a family reunion here. I would love to go back!

This KOA is awesome!! It is definitely more "glamping", but we had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone looking to camp in the area. The campground is beautiful- tons of trees to provide shade, paved spots, great pool, clean & new bathrooms and showers, fun playground for the kids. The staff was always pleasant and accommodated our requests. The location is great too! Only 15 min from downtown SD and 25 min from Pacific Beach. This was our first time staying and we will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Beautiful KOA. Entering it looks sketchy but in the park you are in a beautiful paradise. Perfect for families. Tight with larger coaches but maneuverable. Amazing dog park. Easy drive to all attractions. Even though our hoses could not reach the sewer hookup ( didn't want to buy an extension)and our cable was spotty we still have the park 5 stars.

Dollar for dollar this has been the best experience yet (over the past 6 months) and campgrounds from North Carolina to San Diego. As with most of the places we've stayed, the weekends are the worst: there's so many people and the lots are rather tight. Right now I have two camper bumpers not 20 (maybe 30 - I didn't measure) feet from my front door. Across the service road is my favorite... drunks who are freely sharing their opinions and music. While I am not opposed to drinking responsibly, I really don't care to know what a person is thinking. Okay, it's still well outside of the posted quiet hours. As soon as I try to listen to my music without hearing theirs I'm too loud. Having been myself a bit drunk on a few occasions, I won't wander over and ask these people to be a little courteous as drunks are typically not coherent, courteous, or even aware.

Location provides easy access to the highway (which can be heard throughout the night); Campground was well kept - staff worked on things each day during our stay; Easy check-in process and a lovely pool. We booked an economy site and were placed in an area up the hill behind the office from the main campground, so we didn't feel like part of the campground. The area behind our site seemed to be for employee parking.

This is an absolutely beautiful KOA. The landscaping is very well kept, the cabin we roomed in was clean and well maintained. All facilities are very family friendly with multiple playgrounds, bouncing pillows, and equipment rentals. There is a dog area on site, a cafe with tasty food and quick service, a kids center, and a well stocked and thoughtful gift shop/store. The staff was very helpful and professional, with welcoming and cheerful demeanors. Check in was painless and smooth, and we were given all the information we needed for our stay. There are several accommodation types, and each kind I saw while touring the grounds was lovingly kept. We will be returning to this KOA in the future, very pleased with our experience!

Fantastic campground for a family with kids. It's very clean, well staffed, lots of amenities and packed with kids. If you're not into that sort of thing... Go elsewhere. Been here three times and will definitely return. Close to everything in San Diego and the beach also.

We stayed in a electric/water tent spot. It was so much fun! The campground was decorated with Halloween decorations. SO many events to keep the kids busy. Very friendly staff. Management and staff is doing a great job! You have so many options when staying here. From tent to a luxurious cabin! Highly recommend this campground to all.

This place is the most fun for kids that I have seen in a long time! They have everything here playground swimming pool jumping pillows places for the kids to run around play ride bikes and have fun being kids! This is my first time here but I plan to be back every year at Halloween time they have decorations parades parties music magic shows and trick or treating tonight. The kids are all in costume and wound up tighter than a spring having too much fun!

I've been coming to KOA in Chula Vista for about 4 years now and everytime has been just as expected. We've tried all types of camping here (tent , lodge, and trailer) and enjoyed our experience each time. My 9 and 2 year old girls absolutely love it here. No need for devices due to the number of activities throughout the day. The pool and playground are a plus. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

Great place for Californians to camp out. As an Arizonan, it is quite crowded and I would prefer more space and solitude if I'm personally on vacation. Super fun for a big family reunion, though! :)

We paid $88 for a “budget-conscious” site. For that money, we got a pool with no water in it, beautifully renovated showers that weren’t super clean and had low water pressure and a night full of highway noises. At $50 we would have been fine with it.

The mattress was horrible. We were sleeping on springs. The othet mattress sunk. It wasn't very clean. Awful smell inside. The park itself was well maintained but not the cabin.

The management at the KOA were amazing and accommodating to our needs. The park itself is gorgeous with tons of amenities. It’s truly a resort experience all the way around. I highly recommend this KOA!!

This is a centrally located campground and it's easy to find. It's secure and very clean and well laid out. The only down sides are there is a lot of noise from children playing, skateboarding, etc. so if that type of noise bothers you then this isn't the campground for you. Also there limited restaurants in the area.

This KOA was absolutely amazing super fun for the kids and family! Tons to do here! There was a little confusion in the beginning of our reservation but manny and Paola went above and beyond and took care of it! We will be definitely be coming back! Place was clean and super friendly! Lots of stores near by if you forgot anything! Thanks KOA!!

We arrived to find out our site was smaller than we felt comfortable pulling into with our fifth wheel. The manager, Ramone gave us an upgraded pull through site to make our stay more enjoyable! A+ customer service! The campground was beautiful and there were so many amenities available! It was close to explore San Diego too!

  • 1/5 Julie W. 1 year ago on Google
I recommend NOT staying at this location if you are arriving late in the evening. We arrived at 10:30 and had to wait 40 min to get checked in. The after hours phone number had a full VM so I had to call over 7 times before I finally reached someone. Don’t waste your time if you are arriving late, there are plenty of other options in San Diego to choose from. I even emailed them asking for a concession for the wait and they wouldn’t do anything for me!

KOA is fabulous. This is a great family oriented facility. There are lots of great things at this facility to make your camping stay very good. I would have given them five stars, but the staff did not provide information regarding some of these excellent amenities. It would have helped with planning for the trip and made things much easier.

This place is over priced! They have empty spots but it’s hard to get in. 10 pm quiet time is a joke people come here to relax enjoy themselves listen to music grill but as soon as 10 o’clock comes you have to be quiet like we’re paying a lot of money to be here. I mean at least 11 o’clock should be a curfew by 10 that’s ridiculous and then they don’t even allow you to have your phone playing your music no music at all after 10 PM shut it down not cool.

This HAS to be the best KOA in the country. We recently made a cross country move from Kentucky to California. Throughout our trip we stopped at many KOAs on the journey. We've also stayed at several in Tennessee around Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. This KOA tops our list. Ammentities include a large salt water pool, play ground, two Jacuzzis, two different shower and bath areas, a train that runs throughout the day, many bike and buggy rentals. It also has a full service lunch and dinner. The location is perfectly placed in San Diego with nearly direct access to the interstate. We visited the Zoo, many beaches, Sea World, and much more. Do not hesitate to stop at this mini paradise.

Our first stay at this campground and it exceeded or expectations. Clean, organized, well maintained with lots of amenities. It's nicely laid out with lots of trees and greeneries. The San Diego Bay marina is a short bike ride away with local stores just two minutes by car. We'd definitely stay here again.

We got a spot for our tent with electricity. It was near perfect for being in the city, we kept hearing the helicopters passing by and the freeway sounds but otherwise was perfect. Clean bathrooms and showers, very helpful staff, boys enjoyed the giant pillow and pool.

Our stay at San Diego Metro KOA RV Resort was phenomenal! Hosts Bobby and Madeline created a delightful experience, setting up kid-friendly activities, turning it into a memorable vacation. This is undoubtedly one of the finest RV parks with unbeatable spots. The gift shop also offers great deals, adding to the joy. Their wonderful activities stole the show. Highly recommended!

We go every summer and use it as a home base from which we explore the San Diego area. Very nice pool and Jacuzzi. Close to grocery store (Food 4 Less is 3 minutes away) so you don't need to pack all of your food. We just speed shop daily on or way back from our adventures in San Diego, if we didn't dine out.

Very nice resort. The cabin was lovely and cozy. There's an off leash dog area and a lawn area too. On Sunday we enjoyed the buffet and a Chai latte. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We don't have kids, but if you do there's TONS of family activities. It's not a bad drive from the beach either which is nice.

Our stay was ok. We stayed in January when a lot ameneties were closed. Jacuzzi was closed, the water pool felt cold. I was trying to save some money by staying in the economical sites but I guess you get for what you pay for. I stayed in one of the sites that is just by the entrance. I did not realize how close you are to all the noise of the city, I tought it would be more secluded, but you can hear the traffic on the freeway, helicopters flying on top of you all day because of the proximity to the military base. There was also some road repairs going on so when arriving to the Campground, it didn't feel like we were going camping. It felt like if we were going to stay in some else's front yard. Also you could see people boondocking on the street,at least thats what saw on my way into the Campground. I guess thats common there, you see all lot of them going in to dump their tanks.( remember, I'm just by the entrance, I can see who goes in and out). My site was where some of this rigs been here for long, maybe this is their home. They have plants in front of their trailers and everything. They were quite, so guess we were the only one roasting marshmallows and watching a movie outside. I'm not coming back to this site, this not for me. I could've done this at my driveway and for much less and less noisy. I'm sorry if this offended anyone but this is my honest review.

This KOA is listed as a resort and it certainly is! You will find there is no need to leave. They have a pool, a store and a mini cafe. You can order at the window and pick an outdoor table to eat. Each camp site has a fire pit (wood available for purchase) a picnic table and a BBQ grill. There are amenities for the kids and kids at heart. I enjoyed the jumping pillow myself ( and I'm 72). Hubby chose a tent space last week and this week we reserved a Deluxe Cabin. We enjoyed this place very much. It is currently decorated for the Christmas season. Very nice.

Really great place with all the amenities. Be sure to check out “the Backyard” if you have kids with lots of energy. Only thing we dislike about this place is that you really have to keep an eye on speeding cars. Some people feel it’s on to speed way beyond what’s safe in a campground full of kids. Other than that it’s a great place and super clean. Staff works hard to maintain this place and it definitely shows.

  • 1/5 Beth B. 3 years ago on Google
I’m here right now and we are stressed out!!! We just arrived and the place is like a zoo! Kids on bikes and scooter with no lights, people playing games in the street and parking in the street and just yelling at you when you’re trying to navigate a trailer with very little clearance. No lead vehicle . Then our site was full of parked cars!!!!! Had to drive back around to the front and do it all again. Husband is cussing, kids are upset, even the dog is whining. Covid is obviously not a concern here as there are very obvious large groups having parties. We’ve stayed here before and loved it. Tonight, it’s late, people are rude, our site wasn’t prepared, and we’re sad. We were supposed to be roasting hot dogs, but I’m sitting in an overflow parking lot. Waiting for everyone to calm down. Hopefully during our two day stay, things will get better, but as of right now, I wouldn’t recommend this campground.

Great resort with all the amenities you'd need. Spots are tight, even for a KOA. So take it nice and slow when backing your rig into the site...or spend a little more $$$ to save the stress.

Great local getaway campground for me and my tents! Clean grounds, nice landscape and trees, great staff. Cant speak too much for RV spaces but they seems to be good for those who have. Lots of amenities, when open (currently closed due to the Rona). They also have really nice cabins that I may try at a later date, they look awesome. The camp spaces are rather close to each other so hope you have good neighbors but other than that satisfied over all!

We had to move spots because the ones up the very front were very difficult to get in and out of. But our new spot was great. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. Hot tubs are closed at this time, but the swimming pool is open and very big. I glanced at the deluxe cabins and they look very comfortable, has a kitchen, a grill and outdoor seating. My family decided join KOA membership.

This place is amazing the staff did great. If you read the reviews first and you see them say sketchy neighborhood don't let that bother you, Chula Vista is the safest town in California. Yes you are close to the freeway and the navy base yes you will hear the helicopters but other than that the place is great the tent sites are great the bathrooms are clean. I showed up on a Monday to an empty park only a few people then Thursday a full park it was nice everyone was friendly they would invite you over for a beer and watch the game or just hangout. The grounds are so close to the beach and our favorite Sea Port Village. I will be going back soon

Nice place overall. Came in on a Sunday for a few days, it was packed with families and parties, and most had cleared out by Tuesday. The grounds are well kept with lots of trees. The pool looked very nice, and the kids playground was a good size. I think this KOA is very relaxed on noise at night because the cabin next to us had multiple families celebrating together until at least 11:30pm. A lot of people and their dogs having a good time. I did have some frustrations with this KOA however: When I arrived with my kids they were excited when they saw the kiddie train riding around with a bunch of kids in it, however we soon found out that the rides were over for the day and that their wouldn't be anymore. The times were only offered in the middle of the day when we had plans to go out and see San Diego. Considering how many small kids were at the resort I think some extra ride times would be a reasonable service. The next day we took the kids to the "jumping pillows" And my kids were disappointed again when we found out they were closed. Even though the recreation page of the web site specifically says "Open Dawn 'Til Dusk Daily". We asked a worker there and they explained that the jump pads are only open on weekends which isn't what the web site said.... If they had them closed for health concerns I would of understood but only having them open during packed weekends seemed odd. I felt a little ripped off that it was closed for no apparent reason. Overall it's a nice KOA, I just would have appreciated it if they made their services more available to their paying customers.

This is a kid /family resort. Kids running around and screaming all day. Know that before booking. Staff is very friendly. Don't like the pool situation during covid it sucks. We didn't get to enjoy it.

This place is the best place to camp with kids. The amenities are perfect, we enjoyed the pool and the jumping pillow. Our Little ones had a lot of fun. Prices for RV's, Cabins and tent sites are affordable. We are definitely coming back. From now on KOA will be in our list of places to go whenever we want to have that camping experience.

Great spot to chill for the weekend. Plenty to do and very kid friendly. The Cafe food was okay. The Cafe does have a great selection of draft beer for good prices.

Incredibly busy. Narrow spots, loud music, dirty rv spot, old hookups. Great for families with kids, not so much for couples.

San Diego KOA RV Storage
Self-storage facility
🫤 It's a decent place to store your trailer or RV. If you store your trailer there and want to go camping at KOA they'll pull it out for you for a fee. The only downside to this storage facility is that since Covid they've increased storage fees significantly year over year. While that might not be...
