Beautiful serene garden area with lots of roses. You literally can smell the roses as you walk. Towards the back you see beautiful california cactus plants and a beautiful view.

Yet another fantastic and very natural seeming find! Quiet and with great views of the park and areas of the city. The roses are wonderful and truly natural without that ‘only red and perfect’ feeling. These were more perfect in my opinion! If you are at the park, certainly worth a stroll through the rose garden.

A must when checking out balboa. There is free parking on the main road and the garden is also free. The hundreds of different varieties will leave you feeling rejuvenated and in awe of natures beauty. Makes for a nice stroll.

This is such a beautiful amazing place located within Balboa Park. So many different types of roses and colors to choose from. It can get busy as a lot of people love to do photo shoots there so be sure to keep that in mind. But its still just a beautiful amazing place. You have the cactus gardens right next to it aswell. They also have all the names under the type's of roses they are. I really think everyone should go and check it out for sure.

There are a lot of beautiful flowers. Perfect to go in the morning and take pictures. It small but packed of roses. You can walk this area in just a few mins. But you can sit here, under the shade of a tree and read a book. Or just take your time walking along the roses and smell them. They smell wonderful. Couple of bees resting on top of the flowers.

This place is amazing. It displays more than 130 varieties of roses on a three-acre site. The Balboa Park Rose Garden Corps, a group of about 45 volunteers, helps to maintain the garden. The garden is in peak bloom in April and May and is one of the most popular wedding sites in the park Well taken care of and groomed.

The Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden is located in Balboa Park along Park Boulevard. The garden has over 2500 rose bushes filled with a large variety of fragrant colorful roses. The rose garden is a beautiful place to visit just to take a stroll or get away from your busy day. The rose garden has a walkway that leads around the garden with seating area throughout. It’s one of my favorite places thus far. It’s truly a beautiful spot to wander, to ponder, or just to be enjoy natures beauty. The roses bloom from March through December, with the roses usually at their peak in April and May. Parking is located next to the garden or go over the bridge to the Rose Garden (free) Water fountain in the middle of the garden Across the pedestrian bridge adjacent to the desert garden near the fountain of Balboa Park

This garden is beyond stunning. I went in early July and there were SO many perfect blooms. Wow, just wow. I cannot recommend a visit here enough!

Came here mid April to see the roses in full bloom and it's definitely the tranquility everyone needs in their life. Plenty of ample street parking or park across the street and cross to see the roses. Also, nearby is a quaint walk along all the desert 🏜️ plants and a must do after visiting the rose garden. You'll see the bees buzzing, the chipmunks skirmishing around, red tail hawks soaring over the canyon and all the other types of birds that frequent the area.

In all my life, as a landscape architect, have I never seen such a rose garden as this! I would have to say it may rival the Rosegarden a Elizabeth Park in West Hartford. I like this this one a little better, due to the Spanish colonial inspired layout of the plaza and size of the garden beds. I really love the grown-in pergola, where the climbing plants have just absolutely flourished and created a natural jungle-like cave canopy. One should definitely come down here and take pictures for your quinciñera, baby gender reveals, graduation photos, or a cute date with a lover.

Good place for short walk into the rose trees. Roses are of multiple colours like red, pink, yellow, orange, white and purple. The roses do not have a great fragrance though.

Such a beautiful park. From the gorgeous variety of flowers and plants that adorn the park to the breathtaking sights of the surrounding hills, this park is such a gem to enjoy tucked at the end of Balboa Park. The views and gardens here provide the perfect backdrop for anything from family photos, to wedding photos, to engagement photos and more as well as being simply a peaceful place to take in the beauty and relax.

Beautiful roses, they are named and each type has a different scent. If your in the park, be sure to check it out. If you live in SD and have free mornings they are always looking for volunteers. Check the kiosk on the path near the fountain.

In October the roses are so pretty and yummy to sniff 😋 the best smelling one smells like rose chai latte, it's a purple rose with yellow middle near the cactus section.

From the NAT walk over the Park Blvd bridge to the gardens, a variety of cactus along the way to the gardens and fountain. Fragrance is amazing when the roses are in bloom. The whole Balboa Park is enchanting!

  • 5/5 Heather B. 4 years ago on Google
We stumbled upon this place while just wondering the park. I really enjoyed the variety of roses and unique cacti that I don't see back home on the east coast. I thought the layout was nice, easy to see a variety of roses and cacti without excessive walking. I think this is worth checking out if you have time or aren't ready to leave the park after all the museums have closed.

  • 5/5 Jaime M. 3 years ago on Google

  • 4/5 Joseph R. 4 months ago on Google
Very peaceful garden surrounded by a busy road and populated area. Great place to escape the stress of city life. Don't go too early in the morning. Homeless people sleep there, but they move on so everyone can enjoy the park.

A must see. Beautiful rose gardens and walking trails along Park Ave, across the street from the science and natural history museum. The fragrance of the various roses fill the air. There are benches and seating areas to rest, read, and/or just relax. The museums are just across the street making the gardens a wonderful way to start one's day in the heart of San Diego.

When all the roses are in bloom. BEAUTIFUL. I tease my mom about the beautiful flowers. When we are driving anyplace and she sees flowers and they could be dead on the side of the road. She always i mean always says, "look at the beautiful flowers" I'll usually mock her for a second she'll say "stop it stupid" (this phrase came from my friend Adriana. She used to say it all the time. Then we will laugh and if I see some before her I'll look to her and in a high pitched voice I'll say; "look at the beautiful flowers". Then I'll get a smack on the arm. This place is great to see in spring.

  • 4/5 Thomas B. 3 years ago on Google
They need a few more volunteers to help keep the maintenance on the flowers

  • 4/5 Mai V. 3 years ago on Google
The view was absolutely breathe taking, even though there wasn't too much to view. But there was a rose garden and like a dry desert garden on the other side to the left with cactus and all. I just didn't go towards that side. But sitting on the benches available and enjoying the breeze along with the beautiful roses was a great experience. Very calm and peaceful. I would understand why a gentleman was sitting by the waterfall meditating.

Just cross the pedestrian bridge just west of the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park for a beautiful collection of roses, pictured here in late September. Beside the rose garden, there is a desert garden—such a wonderful extra little stroll that is right beside Balboa Park.
