Don't let the plain name fool ya! Steve's steak sandwich is one of the best I've ever had. It comes with a housemade chimicurri sauce that's to die for. It's what makes the sandwich. It takes about 15-20 minutes for them to make the sandwich, so call ahead if you're dining in! They also have other great Asian fusion items on the menu.

I really enjoy the chicken teriyaki plate. The grilled vegetables are always fresh and perfectly cooked. One of my favorite take out places.

We go to this place several times a month due to their great fresh food and good prices. I always order a chicken teriyaki bento with double meat and my wife a tofu bento. Soooo good. This restaurant is probably in my top 10 best restaurants in Chula Vista. Highly recommended

I usually don't write reviews. But felt like I needed to this time! Right down the street from my work. First time coming here, and I'm amazed I have not heard of this place before! The staff was friendly and the food was really really good. Since COVID, this is probably the first good meal I've had in a very long time. It did not disappoint. I didn't have to flavor my food it was legit GOOD. Veggies were fresh, the beef was not over cooked or undercooked it was perfect. I seriously will add this place to my lunch rotation. Thank you!!!!

Casual dining area. Fresh, flavorful food. Strangely, there wasn't much teriyaki flavor in either the burger or salmon, but the dishes were still very good. Server was very respectful about distancing. No outdoor dinng options but popular for take out

What a lovely, CLEAN, casual atmosphere on 3rd Avenue! The employees are kind and attentive and the food is freshly prepared but... The portions were very disappointing. We enjoyed a very tasty salmon "bento" box but... for $18+ you would expect to get a decent portion of rice to go with the salmon filet (decent portion of salmon but I was struggling to find any rice or Teriyaki sauce on the plate! See picture.) The vegetables were delicious!!! Only two, tiny fried gyoza come on a small bed of mixed salad. The ginger dressing for the salad is served separately and was good but it was so much compared to the amount of salad you get. The actual white plate that the food comes on is huge and adds to the illusion that the food portion is small, which it totally is. It did not scream "bento box." The lemongrass curry sauce on the wings was super yummy even though the wings could have been much crispier. They have canned sodas, canned Thai tea and green tea, Sapporo and other beers. I would reluctantly go back to try some other menu items but I won't expect good portions.

Ambience of the restaurant is nice with decor to accompany it. Service was adequate but the food was delicious. The chicken teriyaki was a bit on the drier side, but that is also because I ordered it extra Crispy. I was under the assumption that the chicken would be Crispy enough due to the fact that they don't really put too much sauce. I will have to try it another time with how it is usually cooked. The vegetables that came with it were great, although I was a bit iffy on the quality of the cauliflower. The tacos (beef and tuna) were both flavorful and tasty in their own right. Admittedly I was a bit surprised at the portion at first, but figured it would be quality over quantity and they delivered just that. Presentation of the food was great and I would definitely come back to try some more of their food. I will have to try their sandwich that everybody raves about and report back on it.

Never was here tried it cause I was in the mood for teriyaki chicken. It was very expensive two meals for almost 30 dollars and it was not worth it or very good. The chicken had no flavor and the vegetables tasted like they were microwaved. Definitely will not be back a big disappointment. Avoid this place. I can't understand how people can eat food that is not acceptable and say it is and how someone can claim they are a chef when clearly they are not

Good place to eat. Everything I've tried so far has been delicious. They could improve little bit on the lighting of the place and maybe new chairs and tables since they are kind of sticky!! Other than that, try the Chap Chae noodles, they are very tasty!!

The food was incredible as well as comforting, not to mention on point & beautiful. Someone once told me food enters first through the eyes and today I finally saw it happen as it was steaming and perfectly arranged. I cannot say a single bad thing about the place the prices were on point and fair as well as welcoming. I didn't felt rushed or bothered by the waiter as she waited for me with a smile a very lovely energy. I will return and enjoy probably the same thing as it was simply perfect lol. But I do recommend y'all try the other stuff in the menu since they sound just as good :) . PS. 12/27/18 Today I went back and did ordered the same but I got also the Japanese tuna device and it was simply glorious so rich in flavor and unbelievably beautiful as well as spicy, the dish itself is so sophisticated and yet simple, will update and keep posting more updates in regards of what I try here lol.

Was a regular a few years ago. Was in the area today and ordered my go to meal. STEVES SANDWICH. Cant say it was as good as I remembered. I'll defenetly come back to make sure it wasn't just me. Will keep you posted.

You can't go wrong with made to order food. Always fresh. You may wait. But it's worth it Teriyaki Bowl with double the meat is filling...add extra chimichura and you are good to go.

Mediocre food, took forever to get here. We got the knucklehead sandwich (I asked for no egg) and the teriyaki burger. They couldn't bring both meals at same time, and at the end the food was extremely mediocre.

Very good selection of food, tried several items and all quite tasty. The atmosphere was not particularly warm and inviting though, as the floors are polished cement and tables with hard chairs are the only seating options

Wow what a great place to eat!! This is not your normal Teriyaki Grill. So don't let the outside fool you, inside is a special treat. We walked in and they were so friendly to include a couple of their regulars, who recommended everything on the menu. I ordered the Mekishiko Taco which has seared ahi tuna and the Esteban Taco with steak. Wow! The tacos are small, so you need more then one but the flavors in these little tacos are delicious. The hubby got Steve's Steak Sandwich and it was amazing. The portion size is a normal size so don't plan on sharing a plate. The staff was very friendly and the place was clean. Parking on 3rd ave can be tricky, so you might need to walk a block or two. Pay attention to their hours, they close at 8 and aren't open on Sundays. So if you are like us and feel in love with their food on a Saturday and were talking about getting food from them again on Sunday, you and I will have to wait until Monday.

Salmon bowl is hardly a bowl at all. It comes in a sandwich to go carton and has one small piece of salmon, a few asparagus and a few zucchini cuts. Not worth $16. Also, the young lady at the front counter needs.some customer service training. The place seemed very clean, and the little bit of food I did get tasted pretty good! OMG... Really OMG!!! Why is this Steve sandwich so deliciously good. I went here on like a Friday or Saturday night... The music they were playing was perfect for me and my date the atmosphere was very welcoming. Then all of a sudden comes out the golden crispy bread lightly buttered with this amazingly chopped beef sandwich without hardly any fat. It was seasoned to perfection. I've never had a sandwich so delightfully good. It came with fries but they were kinda cold .. but back to my amazing sandwich. I ordered it medium well and it was absolutely perfect in every way. That chef that night was AMAZING GGG!!! I would've came.back but their closed on Sundays unfortunately. You must try this place...

This place has almost become a weekly meal that we need to have. The food is fantastic. The Bulgogi Beef Bentos is my go-to meal for when I'm really hungry. They prepare the sides well with the salad and potstickers. Excellent customer service and super friendly staff.

Steak sandwich for lunch was very good. Service a bit lacking. Server never checked to see if food was ok until i finished the meal. Only offered more water when i was finished meal. I had to bring my check to the cashier to have my credit card run. Overall service lacking, but very good food.

I guess they are not fully prepared for busy Friday night. At first it was a fast service, but they lost momentum with more people coming in. I had to ask them how much longer wait (30 mins pass). I was about to.cxl order if not made. 1904 loades fries was good. The Thai Curry Chicken was not flavorable (not quite thai curry). The bulgogi meat was alright. Overall, it was ok. Hopefully its better next time. Just needs a little help with servers at tables and less chaos seen in kitchen area.

Great food that was absolutely delicious. I got the teriyaki salmon this time. I also really enjoy their teriyaki beef which is made to order (medium-rare for me). Staff is great also.

Each dish is a carefully crafted experience of taste. I don't doubt everything on the menu is delicious. Don't leave without trying the 'Esteban Taco'. Divine!

Teriyaki Grill is a jewel in the heart of Chula Vista that offers wonderful fresh food at a very reasonable price my daughter had the steak chimichurri sandwich which was absolutely delicious and I had the beef teriyaki Bento also wonderfully tender pieces of meat tasty rice and salad a great value five stars a word of caution the plates take a little longer to come out of the kitchen but that's because everything is made fresh and to order... highly recommend!!

They are very busy and need extra help , forgot my order and had to wait total of 30 min my entire lunch time for my food and they made it quick , bad and only gave me like 10 french fries and not like I ordered it extra crispy since they forgot my order , not recommended and definitely will not go back!!
