Mommy knows best! I know it's a little redundant in these reviews, but please believe her when she tells you it's going to be too spicy! We made the mistake of pushing a level 2 our first time and couldn't handle the heat. Don't be afraid to start at a zero or half. She will add more spice if you decide you want it! Mommy herself is a character. She really makes you feel welcome and like a part of the family. She takes good care of you and will keep you laughing while you're there. She prides herself on the quality of her food and the fresh ingredients and even the items that she orders in straight from Thailand. And it shows in every delicious bite. The food itself is amazing! We have not been able to find anything like it in San Diego. From the curry, to Kao Soy, to the Tom Kha, to the friend rice...everything has been delicious. Mommy and her whole team really put their all into making the food. You can taste the love and care that has been put into each dish. You will not be disappointed if you decide to give this place a go. It's well worth the 20min drive for us to get here and we will be returning as much as possible!

Another lovingly small, family owned buisness to adore!! Honestly this is the best Thai place you can ask for for dining in and to go. Mommy is gonna be your fave auntie in the neighborhood and in life. Not once she forgets a face, or an order. Best of all is her personailty that really uplifts and makes me want to come back everytime. This is my second time ordering to go and she somehow both times it was ready in MINUTES. Honestly I would rather come to dine in bc it feels so homey, and isn't that the best kind of dining?

The BEST customer service I have ever received from a mom & pop restaurant. I walk in and mommy immediately created me and was so nice and welcoming. She was extremely funny and bubbly and walked me through the menu. Such a nice woman!! Come here if you want quality food and amazing customer service.

If you are looking for real Thai food in San Diego this is the best place you can go. Made to the order. Everything is so fresh. Owner Mammy is just amazing. Great customer service. Lot's of vegetarian options.

Good food in a cozy spot that you would probably miss when driving by, as it is tucked away in a tiny strip mall. The owner is super friendly, and funny! The veggie rolls and pad Thai were great. Will definitely be back!

This place is a hidden treasure in Chula Vista San Diego! There is a parking lot outside of the restaurant! It's a cute family style restaurant! We really enjoyed the food and the service! The first time we went with our friends, the owner Mammy was so friendly and so funny we had so much fun at this place, she loves to talk and get to know people, she treats everyone like family! She figured that my husband and I are newlyweds and she promised us that she will give us a surprise we visit again next time. We went back the next day and she brought us an amazing rice paper dish wrapped with chicken noodles inside and some peanut sauce on top!! It was delicious!! Their spicy level is 1-10, we only had 0.5 and we were sweating, it was really spicy for us but really good tho We spent about $20 for each person, I highly recommend their curry! It is very flavorful and creamy, the shrimp I had in the curry was sweet and big! Really good seafood! The sticky rice with mango was so yummy, the mango just tasted different than the one we can get in Walmart but the size wasn't too big and we paid $9 for it, it was a little pricey than other Thai food restaurants I had been to before but we love the food and the good friendship we have developed with Mammy! We will come back again!

Went there because everyone was raving about it. Not sure why they think it's so good because it was horrible. While I was waiting for my food there were flies everywhere. Super annoying and disgusting. It was hot and smelly inside. I ordered my favorite dish and it didn't taste good. Tasted off and super oily. I was sick for two days.

The food was soooo good. Very spicy for me and I'm a real mexican. Level 1 is more than enough. Mommy was awesome. Her big personality can be a little bit too much for some. But if you are not a fragil baby you will love her. She is very authentic. I'm definitely coming back.

The food was average. The service was excellent until the boss lady showed up. She started chatting up so much, without any care for our personal space. Didn’t let us eat in peace. Shoved food down our plates dictating quantities and spice level. Very inappropriate gestures made that felt very very offensive. I don’t think the lady realized what she was doing but it was very traumatic for us. And the food wasn’t even that great. We love Thai food. It’s our most favorite cuisine. We eat Thai at least twice a week but this was mediocre.

Not typically a big Thai food lover, but gosh this was good. For the price, me and my party all got a large and tasty meal. Food was amazing, and Mommy (the woman who served us) is a hoot. Such a fun place to get food, felt homey and lax. Would totally suggest going there!!! And listen to Mommy when it comes to spice levels! If she hadn’t talked my friend down to a level 2 spice, I don’t think he could’ve eaten it!

Place does not disappoint. Went there on a mission to get my face on the wall. I did…and I was wrecked for about 48 hours following. This place will not disappoint. Food is stellar. Excited to try it at a lower spice level so I can taste my food.

The best service and quality ingredients you will see ANYWHERE. The lady says they import everything from Thailand and I believe it! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! Everything is good, but the spice is authentic so a 7 hotness level anywhere else would be a 1 or 2 here.

Mama is literally the best! The food is amazing, super spicy!!! Her one is literally a 7-8 at other Thai restaurants! So be warned.

Best Thai food I have ever tried. Would always go back. It’s just we live too far, and they don’t open on weekends. Otherwise would go more often. Very spicy but love it so much. I can only take level 0.5 lol

Service is a 5. The food is a 3. I ordered the Larb Chicken with a spice level of .5. The chow mein was a level 2 and was like a level 7. Mommy our server is awesome, she's energetic & full of life but can be too pushy to eat her food. My husband wanted to cool down his mouth & order a 2nd thai tea, she refused and told him to take his time and enjoy the food... My Larb dish lacked flavor, the crab rangoon was ok, chicken satay tasted like chicken. I think the best food item I enjoyed the most was my mango sticky rice. We came here to meet friends who claimed it was the best Thai food, sadly it was disappointing and overpriced for the quality of food you were served. This was our 1st and last time at Tuktan Thai.

I was told this place is authentic Thai spice. Now called Thai Bistro(originally Tuktan Thai Food) Based off of my partner's expression it was very much enjoyed. Order Tom yum soup, beef salad, fried whole fish. The soup was very good we both enjoyed how flavorful it was. Beef salad was a perfect spice level(requested extra hot) fried whole fish with pineapple bell pepper and sweet sauce was tasty. I was craving fish and they did not disappoint. 2 Thai ice teas oh! So delicious 🤤🤤🤤
