Found my new favorite sushi restaurant! Fantastic customer service, we were immediately greeted and seated. The ambiance was nice with good music and a great environment. The sushi was delicious and FRESH! I had a tuna spicy mexican roll and a tropical mango roll. The rolls where big in size and quite affordable in comparison to other sushi restaurants I have been too. The tuna and salmon literally melted in my mouth... soooooo delicious! I usually order a hand roll but I didn't because it was too much food. I was stuffed with just two rolls! However, next time I will get a hand roll because they look delicious! I saw a server taking several hand rolls to a table near us and let me tell you, the hand rolls look HUGE. They are the biggest hands rolls I've ever seen! EVER! I would say double the common size. My hubby had chicken yakisoba and it didn't disappoint. Overall, super happy with our experience. Don't worry about parking because there is plenty at the plaza! 10/10 REALLY recommend!

I’am not a fan of Japanese food but this was a real good experience and the food was great. The staff was very friendly and the service was great as well. My wife had the sushi and she loved it. I had the chicken fried rice and it was very tasty. The food portion was enough for me to even take some home. I totally recommend this place.

I liked Japanese Cuisine! I found one of the authentic Japanese food here in National City. Service is good, location and parking are okay. Waiting time (dine in) is short. Menu, so many choices. $ affordable.

This restaurant is pretty popular . The wait times can be a bit but definitely worth it . The service is good from them and the sushi/food is served nice and fresh. I would reccomend for you to share a boat of sushi between 2-3 people . Worth the price !

Hanaoka is always a treat to come to. The food is amazing and I recommend this place to dine in at and for cute dates. Hanaoka also has the best service and great prices.

Always a good time at Hanaoka. Very friendly and attentive staff. I spent years in Japan and finally found a place with comparable food. They have it all from Sushi to Ramen, a bar and meal sets. I even like the ramen here better than some ramen restaurants like Tajima. I'll be back. See you in a couple weeks.

Great sushi, ramen and atmosphere! Usually busy almost every night so you might have to wait but believe me when I say the wait is worth it! Highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!

This spot is one of my favorite restaurants! The service is amazing and quick, food and drinks are delicious and prices are good. I usually get their sushi rolls and all of them are good, my husband gets their ramen and it’s his favorite, i’ve even taken friends here and they have also loved it. All of the staff is very friendly. The portions are good. I definitely recommend.

Highly NOT recommended . For their pricing I was expecting to atleast have a decent food . This is the most disappointing Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been , Japanese restaurants always have a good food or at least something decent to eat but this restaurant didn’t fail to disappoint us. Definitely ruined our day. Will never come back here ever again. Can’t believe an overpriced with a bad food Japanese restau exist.

Atmosphere is great and the service was wonderful. Sushi was good but a little rushed to make since the rolls were already falling apart before we even picked them up. Which is understandable since it was busy. You must get the sushi boat because the presentation was quite extravagant.

A good friend invited me to this amazing restaurant. We both had the Salmon Cutlet (tonkatsu) (breaded deep fried) because my friend’s mother loves it and she is Japanese. You should try it and don’t forget to ask for the tonkatsu sauce!

This place was OK. I came with my husband on a rainy day for some soba noodles. We were seated quickly, but otherwise the service was subpar. The soup arrived at a good temperature, but the broth was pretty bland. We ordered a side of veggie tempura that was soggy and not as good as I've had at other restaurants. A cup of hot green tea is $4 and it's powdered so we didn't finish them. I wouldn't return.

Great place to come and eat with your family. The food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. I like their ramen, the broth is really good and the nigiri. Every time I come here to eat, the fish is very fresh. The closest taste in food to Japan. It would be my first choice whenever I want to eat sushi or ramen.

Best teriyaki beef ever!!!! They have big portions and bento boxes!! Great service. They need more space!!! Too many people love it 😊

Awesome spot. Compared to the other ramen/Japanese places in San Diego, this one definitely takes the cake on culture/traditions aspect of it. Having lived in Japan, I really appreciated that. The staff were friendly and greeted in Japanese which I hadn’t seen at other restaurants out here. Big selection of food on their menu. I had the shoyu ramen and the broth was amazing. Do wish it came with an egg; wasn’t aware of all ingredients. Some of the best I’ve had since being here though. Also had the gyoza and karaage. Both exceptional; nothing that really stood out. Look forward to returning and trying different things on the menu.

Coming from someone who lives in the middle of nowhere, not even next to the ocean. I have never EVER been so satisfied with sushi, there's a reason these guys have huge lines and it's WORTH it. I have never tasted raw GOOD fish, and yes if you're wondering the seafood here as never got me sick, I wouldn't be worried about this place. The crunchy roll is a MUST here and you've got to try the eel. The noodle bowls are so much different from others and you'll never find as good sushi anywhere else. The staff are overall nice and keep the place clean and nice, prices are high but it's worth it for the food. If you want to have dinner somewhere and don't know where to go, this is THE spot.

The service is awesome, very friendly staff. The food is pretty good, better than I expected, to be honest. We ordered different sushi rolls all of us and we loved all the food. I would definitely come back if in in the area again! Recommend: tropical mango

Hanaoka its one my favorite Japanese food my friend and I we enjoyed the ca roll and crunchy roll and the Saphoro a Japanese beer. Everything its so fresh and delicious we recommended it 🍣🍱

Can’t beat the prices here. Very cheap for sushi. The rolls were mediocre hence the price. Did not appreciate the service here the food and drinks were just placed at the end of the table. The entire interior of the place is very run down. Tape on the seats to cover holes

Sushi was good, but was cut into quite uneven pieces, and many of them were too large to eat in a single bite. The ramen was altogether mediocre, and the broth was utterly bland. Chashu had flavour but was not tender.

We went here for lunch during a weekday and it was very busy. It was our first time. They have a good selection of lunch specials. We ordered the Bento lunch special that had a lot of variety. We were full. They offer happy hour drink special of sake and/or beer. We enjoyed our lunch and the service was fast,

Service was very welcoming but not good when they were busy. Felt rushed when they were taking in the order. After the food was brought to our table, our server did not check up on us. Our beverages could have used a refresh since they were empty. Had to ask a different server for the check Plentiful parking. They make you wait outside when waiting for your table *bring a coat pending on weather*

This is my place to go eat sushi, staff is supper friendly and helpful. Quality of food is excellent. Highly recommend it.

Parking in the lot. Located in a plaza area across from Carl's Jr. Busy place. Liked by a lot of people. but I wouldn't come back. Seems to have a lot of old regulars. No Asians dining in this Japanese American restaurant. 17 for a special roll. 15 for a salmon lovers combo. 11 for a soba. Food takes a while, dont arrive hungry. Decent value place for sushi. Soba was okay for 11 bucks. Salmon lover for 15. Nigiri has lots of rice and enough salmon to fill 1person. Comes w soup. Good beer deal. A pitcher for 10 bucks or so. Service was alright. Friendly but theyre so busy. Tables and menu sticky. The bathroom smell seemed to waft into the dining area. Overall didn't seem sanitary enough to be paying this much for food. I can pay 17 to get a special sushi roll at a nice place downtown without ripped seats and sticky surfaces. But this place is really popular for this area.
