As a non-vegan, I always chose Kindred as the best place for vegan food. They have a fantastic cocktail list. I always go for their tiki style drinks and they usually have a fun mug for sale as well. My favorite food item is the fried pickles with pickled buffalo cauliflower, delicious. I also tried an impossible burger for the first time, pretty good. Id definitely say check Kindred out for a fun atmosphere and amazing drinks. If you're looking for vegan food too then this is your place.

One of my favorite all around vegan restaurants in San Diego. Fantastic for a date night as they have excellent cocktails, and even better food. It's all vegan and if you're a fan of seitan, their skewers are insanely good. Wonderful texture and flavor. 💚🌱

Their menu is small but good selection. I got their version of Caesar’s Salad with a drink in a piggy mug and it was so great. It’s my third time coming here and they are always very welcoming and al and offer to bring a bowl of water for my dog. Great ambiance and drinks!

Wow! What a surprise Kindred was for us non-vegan eaters. Now I know how y’all feel every time you go most places to eat! ✊🏽 We went early Sunday for our vegan friends birthday and had great service from the bar and table server. I had the pancakes and they were amazing. We tried all sorts of things we would normally maybe not try, like; tofu Benedict! (Though I may ask for the ‘hollandaise’ on the side if you don’t like mustard) Cocktails are on point as any CH location tend to be. We tried the River Styx and it was fire! Go for brunch Sundays 10-2 or cocktails but prepare to wait as the location isn’t huge and is very popular. Worth it! -A Carnivorous dairy eater.

One of the best vegan bars that I've ever been to in the country. So if you are not vegan you can still enjoy the bar because it's super clean open and inviting. If you are vegan then this is the place to be to participate in what probably is equivalent of being at some other high-end bar where you won't be able to get any vegan food. Here you'll be able to enjoy a myriad of good vegan foods. Lot of them might be fried and not the healthiest but you can still get salads and vegetable type plates. If I lived in San Diego I would be hitting this place up on the weekends and if I was single I'd be taking dates here all the time. Since I'm married of course I would take my wonderful wife here once every couple of years. Just kidding haha.. I would take her every weekend 😀

Absolutely loved the food here! If I lived in San Diego it would a regular hang out and I would bring all my friends! We started with the Gloom and Bloom fried mushrooms with this great dill sauce. Then we both had egg roll burger. It has all the ingredients of an egg roll along with the crispy shell and a chili aoli sauce. On a beyond burger. We finished with pumpkin roll for dessert but needed to share because dinner was filling. Funky place heavy metal style music and cool decor. Staff super friendly and helpful. We didn't have drinks but heard people getting interesting drinks.

This is a gorgeous location with great service and a fun set of food. The food is pricey, with portion sizes that vary from certainly shareable to single serving, without much indication on the menu, but the menu is seasonal and the flavors are fantastic and fun and product good quality. The service was attentive and helpful. Cocktails are innovative and reasonably priced, so try a cocktail hour here!

Contrary to some recent reviews, I felt the service was good. In fact, we unknowingly walked in just as brunch was closing and the hostesses spoke to the bartender to made sure we were still able to order food! Rating 3 stars since the food & drink was mediocre.

Finally! We have heard such great things about this eclectic vegan gem 💎 and the great things were correct! Kindred delivers, ambiance, cocktails and delish healthy bites. Jenny our server was so pleasant and attentive even during the busy Saturday night crowd. Make a resy and enjoy a bevy because it’s totally worth it!

God had a hand in creating this beautiful place. You can get KFC an Taco bell within this establishment an thats the lords work. Sometimes when you get a hankering for fried chicken but also want some Mexican food to help flush out your bowels come no where but here.

We have been there for one of our date nights. We got there around 9 pm and we had to wait for a table about 50 minutes. If you want to avoid waiting in line, do the reservation in advance. It was our first time here and we ordered King Friday for drink which was good, only a little bit sweet for me. We ordered Babylon Burger and Soul Crush. The food was tasty and fresh. The menu was creatively set. I am not a vegetarian but you can say the menu offers a variety of vegetarian food. The atmosphere is great for date night. The bartender is helpful and friendly. The staff is polite and helpful. The service is great. Highly recommended!

Probably in my top three for best espresso martinis in San Diego, if you like chocolate and salt you HAVE to try their espresso martini. Everything we had was spectacular, definitely a favorite spot for cocktails especially waiting for Italian next door. Can't wait to come back!

The food was good, but we left very dissatisfied with the service and the portion sizes. They forgot my order for a while and it was really hard to get their attention. We ordered double cheese burger, torched carrots, carbonara (pasta) . The portions would be right for a kids menu. There were no accompaniments generally expected with these, like chips or fries with the burger, or even a small salad with the pasta. The drinks were good, but their entrees are really “small plates” And overly pricey.

This is my go-to spot anytime I'm in San diego. It's so good and everyone I bring here falls in love with it. The atmosphere is great and service is wonderful but the food and drinks are next level. They change the menu seasonally so it's always fun to try the new menu. I went with a couple folks recently and we tried probably half the menu. Literally everything we got was delicious! My favorite was the egg roll burger but all the dishes were a hit. Would also highly recommend the carbonara, Caesar with chicken escalope, and charred remains. The Caesar is my favorite vegan Caesar I've found anywhere. Creme brulee, garlic knots, Mac n cheese, and impossible skewers were really yummy too. The potatoes were really good but everything else was on another level so they seemed more standard by comparison.

I was blown away by how delicious the food was at Kindred. you know a restaurants going to be good when they can do their vegetables correctly. I’m not a vegan, but I have to say everything was super delicious. They also have Steakhouse Sundays For the whole month of November you can now enjoy premium Chunk Foods whole steaks I literally couldn’t believe that these steaks were 100% plant based. They were so juicy and tender and packed full of flavor! Topped with lemon thyme butter and paired with creamy mashed potatoes and asparagus to create the perfect vegan steak experience. .

Horrible vegan food!!!! Everything tasted bland and unhealthy. Came here for brunch and got the pancakes, BFS, and tofu benedict. It was the worst tasting vegan food I’ve ever had. The pancakes were way too sweet, the BFS tasted dry and bland and the potatoes lacked flavor. The benedict had no flavor. Also the restaurant has a very strange vibe and the music played was extremely loud metal. It was a bad experience overall.

I do not recommend this place, I was standing up at the main entrance for about 10 minutes and no one came to me and asked if I needed something. People that work there are not friendly at all. On the other hand, the food was ok, but small portions.

5 of us were seated immediately on a Wednesday evening at 630 pm but then a line quickly formed. Cool vibe in the restaurant and outdoor seating with heat lamps. Service was a bit slow but we understood with covid and shortage of servers. Nice cocktail menu but slim food options. I loved the wizard bowl and highly recommend but nothing else on the dinner menu truly stood out. We had the popped corn and seared broccolini which were also delicious. The “fried & pickled” was underwhelming. Pickled Cauliflower lacked flavor and fried pickles were mostly batter.

I don’t fancy the food... but I’m up for trying new things. The vegan food isn’t my thing but we tried a bunch of things. We got the pancakes, biscuits, and crusties to share. The pancakes might be better than real pancakes. The crusties and biscuits came with a variety of sauces. I got the forenoon which was a imitation sausage and it was pretty realistic. I ate it all. My husband got the Benedict and he hated it. He said it was too fake tasting. The Benedict sauce was too overly highlighter color , like fake and the tofu tasted weird. It was different. The best things were the amazing cocktails. They make really good cocktails.

If there is a wait here it is well worth it, everything is vegan and very delicious. I love their pancakes! They have a great cocktails selection and kind staff along with a gorgeous atmosphere! Vegans and non-vegans alike can enjoy this food, it's very tasty!

The food was delicious! I had an order of the Benedict. The way the tofu is breaded really gives it a fried chicken feel to it. Personally I like my asparagus to be a bit softer and I think it could do without the parsley. Just two minor critics of really an outstanding dish. I will definitely be ordering it again.

Even if you aren’t an elder emo or metal head, this place is the truth! The brunch cannot be skipped, under any circumstances. The potatoes with pimento cheese absolutely knocked our socks off. The butterscotch waffle was wonderful. The benny was also fantastic. Most memorable for me though was the non alcoholic charcoal pineapple drink, lord - so good! The gluten free options weren’t obvious or denoted so I needed to ask.

Brought here by my nephew. His mom & I visiting from east coast. We eat plant based. Which is extremely hard to find on the east coast! We were in heaven. Nephew recommended fabulous cocktails, all delicious. For appetizer we had herb spiced popcorn. Best popcorn we ever had! Seasoned with garlic, turmeric, dill, lemon. Very tasty, and great with the cocktails! I had vegan grilled cheese with tomato, grilled onions, kale and apple slices. Amazing! Great mixing of flavors and textures. My only complaint was the was a lot of bread. I could only eat 1/2 the sandwich d/t the amount of bread. We had a side of grilled broccolini. Seasoned with garlic and soy sauce. Very flavorful and delightful! My sister had a salad with Tempe. Flavorful salad, dressing, and Tempe. All the food her I'd vegan. So many great choices for vegan food on West coast. Give this place a try!

A dark, noisy restaurant-bar with no A/C, but the food is upscale IMO. Went there for our anniversary, and did not disappoint. You might like the vibe. We ordered High Stakes and Soul Crush. Never had a mushroom this tasty (High Stakes). Soul Crush was simpler with Gardein Chicken and mashed potato but the cheesy pasta it came with was 10/10, and the dip sauce was there to enhance the flavors. Zombie Prescription was a non-alcoholic beverage that tastes sweet, sour, and salty. We both liked it very much. Even if you don't like this vibe at least come once to taste the food. Street parking only so you might drive around the block - there were spots nearby even on Saturday night.

Was in the area with friends and stopped by for a drink. The wait to dine in is long but you can sit at the bar, or there are some small standing tables. This place is busy. Not sure I would dine in here during busy hours since it's pretty loud and crowded, but it was a great place to grab a drink. Loved the vibe and ambiance here. The vibe is demons + death + pink. Restroom kinda scared me but loved it lol. Drinks were really good and not too pricey. I got the Hidden Wheel. It was great and I loved the rim. Very slow service here because there was only 1 bartender and many people in line.

We visited with a group of friends and tried about different 10 cocktails between us all. We loved the goth/darker vibe and energetic atmosphere (very lively and fun), and the cocktails overall were decent and very well priced. I enjoyed all the combinations they put together, which tend to lean more tiki given all the flavourful fruits, but my one comment is that I found the drinks on the sweeter side. I prefer more tarte drinks, so this is my personal opinion. All said, I still recommend this place and enjoyed my experience—would recommend to others.

Took myself out on a little date night and let me tell ya, the grilled cheese with the added patty and tomato soup paired with a glass of red wine 😮‍💨 I was in heaven for the 13 minutes it took me to enjoy this meal 😂 super friendly people, the staff has fun with what they do. Recommend this spot for a date night dinner something low key 👌🏽 sabbath playing in the background is a nice touch. Friendly with your dietary restrictions is a plus.

We just ate there tonight. We were a walk in and had to wait nearly an hour because the awful and no personality hostess made us wait that long. The food was ok and our waiter was really nice. The hostess was very lousy though- insensitive and definitely could use some kind of training on how to actually be a welcoming host. Overall- I would rethink going back there again.

I've had plenty of "vegan sushi" in my day. And by that I mean AAC rolls in regular sushi joints. Not Earth shattering, but still enjoyable, right? That's why I didn't originally intend to go to Shizen. But then I read all the reviews and I was intrigued. "The hour long wait is worth it" they all said. So, my husband and I decided to give it a whirl.

Its a cool place if you like a drink, vegan food, rock music. It's actually been awhile since I ve been a cool looking bar without a jazzy lounge music playing, so that was cool. Bar tenders are awesome, definitely come check it out! They open only at 4 pm tough 🤙🏽

Pleasantly surprised by how good the vegan benedict was! Decent amount of protein with the tofu and the seitan combined. Drink + meal was a little over $20, which is not bad for a high quality vegan brunch in San Diego. Check out their merch too! The shirts look even better in person

Food was good but outdoor seating wasn't able to accommodate all of our plates. Ended up putting them on the ground since you can't hand them to the server. Either don't seat four people at a 24 inch round table or invest in larger tables.

The wait staff did an excellent job, considering all the considerations of the pandemic. Their sidewalk dining setup didn't at all impact how well we were taken care of. I kind of love this restaurant/lounge. What I like the most about this place is the interior/atmosphere, which looks upscale but at the same time is very warm and has character, and the drinks! They must have some of the best bartenders because every drink we have tried is made to perfection and everyone in our party usually orders second round.

"Vegan Goth Restaurant" is how my friend first described KINDRED to me before I went for the first time. Perfect. Decked out in chic gothic aesthetic, the place is filled with white marble, lit-up mirrored ceiling tiles, and a gigantic statue of a beast on the back wall that you may sit directly under if you're feeling particularly metal. The soundtrack dives into 80s metal and gothic, but don't untie your long headbanging hair yet, cuz the music is played at a low volume. You should also check out the bathroom because it is an EXPERIENCE. I won't spoil it for you, but I will just mention that they are always clean and tidy. BTW, this is an awesome spot for a date night. You can dress up, go casual, or show up in your best highschool "goth" interpretation via dark make-up and black skinny jeans. The menu sticks to the theme, is somewhat seasonal, and 100% plant-based! They do a wonderful job recreating some meals which are traditionally expected to have meat or dairy. If you or your party are not vegan, KINDRED will be a great spot to enjoy some decadence that meat-eaters might not even be aware that plant-based meals can be filling and satisfying in all the ways meat & dairy can. Their cocktails are on point. Their service is on point. Please check this place out. Long live KINDRED. <3

This place is absolutely pathetic. I’ve been sitting at drive thru for over 10 mins and no one has acknowledged me. When someone finally did they acted as if I was putting them out by ordering food. Not to mention they never get the orders right. It’s not our fault your job sucks so don’t take it out on us. I wrote about 90% of this while waiting for someone to ask me for my order. Four more cars have gotten in line since I’ve been sitting here.

I received a Burrito supreme with either dirt or mold on it.

  • 2/5 Beth B. 3 years ago on Google
Disappointing night. Cheesy roll-ups had a few onions in them. I've had probably 100 of these over the years, but never with onions. Bean burrito with requested extra cheese - extra charge - had so little cheese that I had to open it up to see if there was any cheese at all. Again, this is an item that I have ordered several times before, but it was never like this. I called the manager to let her know, just in case there was someone new working or someone else not paying attention. She didn't really seem to care. This KFC/Taco Bell has a reputation for being extremely slow and less than accurate, yet I believe in giving second, third, even fourth chances. After this evening, I'm not so sure. If the manager doesn't seem interested in what's going on, why should the employees care.

Worst Taco Bell ever. Every time I come here there’s an issue. I’ve sat in the drive thru for almost an hour multiple times just for my order to be wrong. Tonight I sat in the drive thru for close to 15 minutes to get this. This is supposed to be the steak rattlesnake fries & this is what I got. I paid $2.99 for 6 fries & 3 pieces of steak. Definitely will not return here again after this.

Good fastfood. I truly miss the Mexican pizza. It was my lunch staple 3 days a week. But it was clean, service was good and the food was good.

Look, I know there is a virus out there and some people have unfortunately passed away, but basic hygiene and you’ve got nothing to worry about. The dining room shouldn’t be closed unless you’re in a hotspot area. This whole response is utterly overblown. I for one will never sacrifice my freedom in the name of safety. People when we let those politicians who have vested interests, start dictating to us about what is safe and trying to enforce draconian laws. This is what we get, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.....

I got a ride here from my boyfriend dan, and the wait was very long. we waited around 25 minutes just for a bucket of turkey thighs... i mean chicken. They forgot our napkins to wipe my crusty beard on and our corn was watery. I didnt expect this but i choked on my chicken wing and then it made me sick, i had to use the flummer and it made me have an explosion. I have never had my stinkhole have more pain in my life

The more food you order and money you spend. The less they actually give you food! Ordered 40+ in food. Including 2 chicken quesadillas... they have two little pieces of chicken in each of them. I also order KFC, which is not fresh whatsoever. We will not be returning. Learn from others mistakes and take your business elsewhere!

Everything in my order was disgusting ! If I hadn't driven home before I opened it, I would have returned it and demanded a refund. I don't expect 5 star food from TB, but I do expect it to be edible.

Same as always, food is fine but the service is bad. Slowest fast food drive through in the world. Minimum of 10 minutes and sometimes 30 at the drive through. This is even during Covid 19 and inside is closed.

Average fast food place it's pretty nice that it has the option of Taco bell and KFC. So if you have a few children you know they can be picky. So plenty of options without having to go to multiple places.

The service is extremely slow. I eat a lot of Taco Bell and this is by far the most consistently slow location. This could be forgiveable if the food was above average but unfortunately the portions are small and usually cold.

I was super excited to try this place out and if I were just rating on food, my review would be higher. The food was delicious! It’s not all that expensive and good sized portions. The appetizers were larger than our actual meals which was surprising. We got the seitan skewers and rolls with togarashi butter - both delicious. For dinner, got the soul crush and Babylon burger. Both quite good as well. We sat at the bar on a Friday night and only waited about 30 min. We got a couple drinks while we waited (cheaper this way!). Once we sat down, 2 bartenders came over quite quickly so we could get some food in. I think we waited about 20-30 min for the appetizers and our entrees came out a bit quicker once we ordered. Once we got our food, we wanted to order a few items to go and this was unfortunately where we went wrong. These items took about an hour and 40 minutes to come out of the kitchen!! After about 40 minutes, we asked the bartender (Juan who was very kind) what was going on and he said the kitchen was backed up and the food would be another 15-20 minutes. I guess the kitchen was backed up more because it was about another hour. This was really unprofessional to not mention to customers that the kitchen is backed up when they order food. He offered us a gift card which was kind and then gave us a free t-shirt to make up for it but this was really disappointing. We did get our food eventually (I had to leave and come back) and to top it off, they forgot an item in our to go order. He gave us a free dessert, but then forgot our beer Mac and cheese. I really liked the food and the atmosphere of the place is cool, but would definitely recommend going early or late when they are not as busy. It seems clear that the kitchen is too small to handle the volume of the restaurant and I hope they are able to fix this problem.

Great food, all vegan. Amazing craft cocktails. Love the music. Overall good ambiance and vibe. This is a must visit for Vegans and it a restaurant that nonnvegans will love too. Fun to just go there for drinks.

Outstanding cocktails and food. Not many gluten-free options but that's difficult to do when your entire menu is vegan. Nice atmosphere and great location.

A wonderfully unique and creative joint. The rich and flavorful vegan offerings are anything but the cardboard and tasteless paste meat based detractors associate with botanical based cuisine. Love the flair and inventiveness in the cocktail menu as well and there nothing quite like magical aura of death metal playing softly in the background of this eccentricly decorated joint. Can't wait to go back.

A well chosen mix of metal and delicacy makes for a really cool unique setting to get a drink or food. We ordered two dinners and a drink. Drink was pretty standard and didn’t feel as unique as the setting would suggest but they have plenty to choose so maybe I chose a more basic cocktail. Dinner was better then the drink although not a huge portion. Not that I always welcome a huge portion so it felt adequate. We want to revisit and try some more items as either way it’s a cool spot to hang.

Amazing atmosphere and the best service. Best of all, they are Vegan. Must visit if you are in San Diego. Very hard to get a table for obvious reasons but definitely worth the wait

My first ever vegan bar experience definitely set the bar very high! My best friend and I stopped by after work for appetizers and refreshing drinks and this place didn’t disappoint. From the vibes, the amazing drinks, the lovely staff, and the tasty food, I’ll definitely be visiting again to try the entire menu. There’s such a diverse drink menu - ranging from tastefully crafted cocktails to complex mock tails that will treat the DDs with something other than water. We loved our drink choices and I can definitely have five more of the Rainbow Warrior (responsibly of course). In terms of food, we really weren’t expecting to be full after the two appetizers. I absolutely loved the Hearts of Artichoke flatbread moment. Texturally and flavor wise, the appetizer is a must order! Don’t forget to squeeze a lime over it :) The Skewers were such an adventurous choice for us and it left me genuinely mind blown. Words can’t even describe the flavor bomb you’d experience in your mouth. It’s definitely something you’d need to share as you might get tired of the texture!

So freaking good. My partner is a cook and so we love trying new vegan places. This one blew us away, and has been the highlight of our trip (food wise). Every bit of the food is perfectly thought out. Between the melt in your mouth apples, to the just crisped bun, each texture compliments each other perfectly. The pancakes were so light but thick, and the butterscotch bourbon my goodness!! Even the gravy on the burger was being stellar, you don't need extra condiments. In fact you can happily eat the pancakes without syrup, but we wanted to try both and were glad we did. Go in expecting a great many flavours, but actually sir and savour them. The chefs here really think our their menu, this isn't your basic vegan food place. This is an experience of food. Bonus is, the heavy metal music playing and the cute little gothic touches just make it so fun to look around and enjoy the atmosphere. We are very much looking forward to going back since they change their menu seasonally. Go in and just enjoy, tip the staff and thank the chefs for their stellar work.

Wow! A must for any vegan. Whether you drink (it’s a bar) or not, this food is amazing! This is one of those places that a non-vegan would absolutely love and never know anything is vegan too. Staff was so nice, attentive, and gave great recommendations. If I’m ever back in San Diego, I’m coming back.

Kindred's only failing was the heaters above the seating area. Heating your head to a million degrees whilst the lower half of your body froze. But I guess we need to blame climate change for that rather than kindred. Great selection of vegan dishes, beers and cocktails.

I just love this place. I love the vibe the menu and the drinks. Their vegan menu is awesome always, my top favorite is the vegan Caesar salad and eating while sitting in the bar with some good craft beer. This is my second favorite Vegan restaurant in San Diego.

I had just come from visiting the parent company’s newest themed bar, Mothership, when I decided to head over here for a bite to eat. While I knew Mothership was a vegan bar, I was surprised to learn that their older sister spot was one as well. And you wouldn’t be able to tell really until you got inside to order. The drinks are pretty good though many on the sweet side they were still quite balanced and fresh. The food itself was alright. I’m glad we’re all making strides in vegan cuisine but I still felt I was eating something I could pick up at the frozen food section at your local market. Tasty but not quite there yet. Still the ambience and design of this place is gorgeous which is a mix of heavy metal and French boulangerie, or like the Italian Bottega Louis in DTLA. As it is a corporately owned spot, they have a full menu of merchandise as well which includes some really nice mug ware if you’re into collecting what many call tiki mugs these days. Overall I was impressed with this spot as well as where it’s situated in the city. You’d imagine it would be somewhere closer to downtown SD (like Craft & Commerce) but I’m glad it wasn’t. I also really dig how they use old fantasy novels as their receipt holders.
