I came here on a Saturday night and had great time. The server was very knowledgeable about the wine and menu. The calamari we had was really good. My main dish was the short rib pasta. It was good but I thought it needed a little salt. Overall my experience was enjoyable. This place has a lot of vegan options for those who are looking for that. They also offer gluten free pasta substitutes.

I recently visited this restaurant and was very happy with my meal. The food was delicious and service was great. It’s a cute venue that feels very comfortable and authentic. If you are looking for a great venue in little Italy this is your spot.

My experience at this restaurant was horrible. I could have given 0 stars if that was an option. The food only looks good in photos, but it was tasteless. We ordered pork lasagna and it was too dry to eat, the butternut squash sauce tasted too sweet. They claim to have a specially catered vegan menu, but the vegan ragu pasta didn’t taste good at all. On top of all this, we ended up paying double tip. The server didn’t inform us that the service charge was already added to the bill. This is not the experience I expect when I go to a highly rated restaurant. Surprised how it even has a 4.5 rating on Google.

Lovely spot in Little Italy. Vegan friendly. You will have a long wait to sit down so be patient. Food was delicious! Server was wonderful & we had a great time. Plenty of dishes to choose from whether Meat, Seafood or Vegetarian. Dine in or sit outside.

Visited on a busy Friday afternoon/evening. Greeted by friendly host who got us seated quickly. Server was attentive and helpful. Good food. Good drinks. Nice location. Got ravioli and it was so good (although didn't taste much spinach which was included in description but still wonderful). Too full for dessert but they looked amazing.

Excellent pappardelle pasta and espresso martini. I got the martini on the house because then bartender took a while to make it. That was really nice of them considering I didn’t complain about it . Very sweet interiors and friendly staff.

Had a great dinner there. Prices weren’t too bad, good food. Our waiter, Baron, was super friendly made some good recommendations. Would totally go there again. They have vegan friendly options (one in the family is vegan so we look for those options, and it’s important to some). Are outside and had a view of the bay. Totally recommend.

Simple. Humble. Absolutely incredible. Civico digs deep into their roots to create honest, delicious and authentic Italian food. With a rustic, yet modern setting, you feel at home yet you know this is elevated dining, without being too fancy. Once you taste the food, (and the drinks!), you know they understand exactly what they’re doing when they serve you. Needless to say, I was without a doubt pleased and enjoyed every second of my meal. I literally just stumbled into Civico while walking around Little Italy, and I’m so glad I did.

Never been so disappointed before. Saw this place with high reviews so we decided to try it out. Food looked good, when I was about to eat it, I found out my fork was dirty, no one to be found to swap it out for a while. Then when I took one bite of the food, it lacked flavor! How can so many people review this place is good but we have 2 dishes and both lacked flavor! Won’t ever be going back again. Lots of other Italian restaurants in Little Italy full of flavor, skip this one.

Went in for a quick dinner at the bar and had a great experience, I ordered the parpadelle with slow cooked ribs and I had a spritz. The bartender really knows what he’s doing, the cocktail was great. Te food really tasty, I would recommend if you’re in little Italy. The restaurant has a great ambiance and the service is very nice and are always checking on you.

Located in Little Italy, this Italian restaurant offered a full Vegan menu with dessert options as well as a full regular menu for meat eaters. I dined with a non-Vegan friend, they ordered the ravioli and I had the Vegan lasagna. The portion was large and enough for two people. It had the perfect ratio of sauce and cheese with some mushrooms as well. The staff were friendly and attentive and provided great recommendations for our first visit. The bread with olive oil pesto was amazing and literally melted in my mouth. I was tempted to eat the entire bag, it was that good! Can't wait to come back to San Diego to try out other options on the menu.

This restaurant in Little Italy exceeded my expectations on multiple levels. First, during this time of higher awareness of PPE, the staff did a fantastic job making us feel comfortable and safe. The menu was simple, with a wide range of food to select. The pasta was fresh, and all the dishes had flavor. The staff was friendly and helpful in choosing our menu selection.

We took the lasagna and it was too dry. Water pitcher was a bit dirty, service was good in general but there is a 4% surcharge on the bill for the employees. It was overpriced for what we had in return.

You will be hard pressed to find fresh vegan pasta in most Italian restaurants, but at Civico 1845, they have a dedicated vegan menu complete with appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The ingredients are all super fresh and the plates are a good portion size.

So many amazing vegan options!! Started with fresh bread and pesto (both happen to be vegan) and then I had the vegan lasagna and my partner had a chicken dish. We both had a version of tiramisu (mine being vegan) and we both ordered a different tequila drink-both delicious! Save room for dessert and get the tiramisu…you won’t regret it. The vegan one was the best version I’ve ever had!!! Great service (thank you Marcello P), cozy inside and delicious food! We can’t wait to come back!

The service was 6/5 stars. I recommend the eggplant appetizer. For the pasta plates, it's nothing to rave home about. It was very american italian, if that's what you are looking for it will be great. If you are vegan, they do have a great selection of pasta and dessert.

THE BREAD THEY GIVE BEFORE THE MEAL IS ABSOLUTE HEAVEN 😍 they have fantastic vegetarian and vegan options and the food is decadent and filling🌱 I had a great experience there, service was great and the plating was absolutely beautiful. The wait was also super short, like less than 5 minutes during dinner time on Saturday so it’s a great place to go if you want a good meal but don’t want to wait a while for it 🥲. Their ravioli was also super yum <3 paired with the delicious pink sauce 😘👌 *chefs kiss*

Came here at the spur of the moment and what an excellent choice! Me and my partner ate off their vegan menu and OH MY GOD! this place is no joke, absolutely DELICIOUS! our server Alejandro was very kind and patient with us. We ate the lasagna, fusilli del Sud, fritti di mare, vegan cannoli and vegan tiramisu. The lasagna was good but that vegan fusilli was out of this world! The vegan tiramisu will have you floating on clouds, this is the best tiramisu I’ve ever had on the planet and space time continuum💫vegan or not you need to try it! The cannoli was good but if you had to choose the tiramisu will take you to the gods up above. Thank you civico we will be back!

We loved everything about this restaurant. My wife and I sat at the bar and shared a Caesar salad and lasagna. One of the best lasagnas I have tasted, I should add. And due to them having an espresso machine, I had to order an espresso martini. I was not disappointed. We definitely plan to come back very soon!

Great vibe in the center of Little Italy. Bruschetta with ricotta cheese and prosciutto was among the best. Spicy seafood pasta was also fresh and delicious.

Every dish was incredibly underwhelming. Their red sauce ruined the dish and the pasta was crunchy. My dining partner’s pasta dish was bland. Italian food is difficult to get wrong. Salad is difficult to get wrong. No table neighbors finished their meals or asked for to-go containers. The mocktails were tasty.

The food here was delicious! I enjoyed their pasta special of the night and my wife had the stuffed ravioli. Both excellent choices! The service was great considering we showed up without a reservation and were seated almost right away. The bread 🥖 and pesto they start you off with will leave you begging for more. If you want a fine Italian dining experience, give this restaurant a try!

I really liked this place, homey, comfortable, friendly. The service isn't he fastest, yet I believe that comes from the fact they are very busy not lack of attention. My obligatory Negroni was excellent - by the way the bartender is great, yet he needs an assistant:) I had the Burrata Heirloom Caprese and it was amazing. The prosciutto was probably the best I've ever had. I also had the Pappardelle - I mean everyone else did. It was also very good. The short ribs used in the ragu was very good, yet a bit chewy for me. I was too full for the tiramisu, yet it looked amazing too. AND bonus - they have a great selection of Amaro for after dinner:) Visit, chill and eat well:)

Authentic Italian cuisine made from scratch with vegan options that are to die for. Everything was excellent. The vegan lasagna, perfect. Vegan "beyond" ragu. The tomato gravy. All these things, spot on. The cannoli were amazing. A perfect balance of sweet and tangy in the canolo. Not too sweet, so it is a perfect after-diner treat.

This place has many vegan options including vegan desserts as well. The prices are about average for fancy food. Everything was clean, service was nice and fast, and the food was very good. It may look small at first but by the end of your meal, you are stuffed.

Fun dining experience in San Diego's little Italy. This place was insanely busy as was every other place in the vicinity. Make sure you got early. The food was lovely, albeit quite expensive for the small size of the plates. Great atmosphere and friendly attentive staff.

Amazing food, amazing experience, and amazing place. We ordered the zucchini appetizers, vegan gnocchi, and the pasta alforno. All AMAZING options. I also ordered a cocktail which was also very tasty. This place is not cheap so if you're looking for a cheap option this is not it. However if you're looking for quality food this is the place for you. We also made reservations which I highly recommend.

The best Italian since I lived there!!! We had the anti pasta, rib eye with arugula and the pasta with short ribs... all were perfect. Our server Ayla made it even more perfect!!

Everything is made from scratch in this memorable spot. The bread is just crazy good - you know you should stop, but can’t. The pasta dishes are hearty and tasty, and the lunch servings were huge. It made for a nice lunch - and dinner. Pleasant servers though a bit understaffed. Worth a stop next time you’re in Little Italy in San Diego.

Nice restaurant located in little Italy. Menu doesn’t have much to offer, but what is on the menu is well prepared and delicious. Wine choices are also minimal but have something for every palette and pair well with the dishes served. Ambiance is nice but a bit loud at times when sitting inside. Would recommend sitting outside for a quieter dinner. Civico delivers on a great meal and taste of Italy with good portions at reasonable price

This place is a gem. I had the Spaghetto Italiano from the vegan menu and my husband had the Pappardelle Brasato. The service was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised that our outside table had a view of the water.

but yeah i wanna point out that food was good but the service and the atmosphere was eh First of all they forgot to give us bread and give it to us with the food. It was quite disappointing how they completely forgot about us when there werent even that many customers in the restaurant. Second there was no ac. So freaking hot day and we were literally sweating while eating. This was the biggest downside!! Sooo hottttt.. Generally wasn't such a great experience but food is good

We stopped by the art store across the street and saw this as an alternative to the pizza place we were going to go to. I made a reservation via Google Maps/Opentable for 5:45 with ease, about 30 minutes into the future. We arrived at about 5:45. We were seated immediately near the restaurant, outside. It was really nice to be seated right where people were walking, but I think the addition of some plexiglass would help more with the current Covid-19 situation. About 75% of the people walking by were wearing their masks correctly, but that leaves the 25%, potentially careless people, walking close by while we are eating, with our own masks off. Our waiter, Matt, I think his name was, was really nice and wore his mask properly all except for our first encounter with him. When I asked him what I should order, he went through his favorites, and explained everything in great detail. He made my choice easier. My wife ordered the steak, and I ordered the Pappardelle Brasato which is slow cooked short rib ragu, cabernet. Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. Great choice, but halfway through my wife and I traded, for her Tagliata, grilled ribeye steak. Wow, I should have ordered that to begin with, but don't get me wrong, both dishes were absolutely wonderful. In my photos, I mislabeled my dish on accident. The phone came out horrible though anyhow. I definitely recommend this place, and the $$ is correct for the price description. The entire staff here were all wearing masks. Before eating here, you must have your temperature taken, however the person taking the temperature did a quick and dirty job of it. She was pointing the temperature scanner too far away to get an accurate reading. My daughter's temperature came to 95 degrees as a result. So who knows whom was eating there that might have had a fever.

Have ate at this restaurant many times over the years, authentic italian food and great wine. 🍷 The portions are smaller than usual (because of covid). Overall though, a great spot with delicious vegan and non-vegan options. 🍝🇮🇹 Top 5 best restaurants in San Diego BY FAR. The reservation process for my large party was simple and straightforward, they were also flexible adding on additional guests. I am biased towards the vegan menu...being vegan... but my friends said all their dishes were delicious from the traditional menu. Civico is one of the few places that strikes a balance between modern eating and tradition, from the bread, to the wine, and friendly faces... you're in for a great night. Despite Covid, Civico is thriving with its authentic energy and delicious food 🙏 Amore, from my family to yours❣️

This was one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. The food was very good and amazing customer service. My family and I were visiting from New Jersey this weekend. Not only did this restaurant take us In after they were closed but they surprised us by taking care of the bill!! I have never experienced such a thing I can’t believe it. Being from NJ I know Italian food and this place was off the chart good.

The pesto and focaccia bread they brought out before the meal were incredible. Easily the best pesto I’ve had in the US, rivaling what I had in Italy. The entrees were certainly good, but not the level of quality I would expect for the price.

By far my favorite restaurant in Little Italy. My fiance and I visit about 2-3 times a week. We have tried other Italian restaurants in the area but keep coming back to Civico. Every dish so far has been cooked to perfection and becomes a favorite. All of the staff is great and friendly. The bartender Simona is amazing! She always provides excellent service/recommendations and is overall delightful. Definitely stop by here if you are in town!

After speaking with the owner, Marc, it became very clear why The Morrison was so well rated. I'm changing my rating to 5 stars based solely on customer service. I'll return to try their food again and will post a review to comment on food-quality. Marc reached out to me with a genuine apology for my experience and sincerely offered to reimburse me for my purchases. I did refuse the offer despite multiple attempts by Marc to get me to accept. It didn't feel right to take advantage of the situation. Speaking with Marc left me a bit downhearted. There was a time not so long ago when many businesses held "customer service" as their ultimate goal. Not so today. My conversation with Marc made me realize how much I've missed those days. I hope the people at the Morrison never lose site of it. What a great example of the way things should be.

After traveling from Texas to Alaska and then down the west coast, we found ourselves at Civico 1845. What a memorable experience. This is real Italian and was outstanding; the food, the atmosphere, the staff and the owner were sensational. What a menu, more-than-fresh pasta, every bite was so delightful. The experience stood out during a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Not only was the owner a wonderful host, but ladies he's very good looking. Everyone should have the pleasure of Civico 1845 - a highlight in the little Italy of San Diego.

We had a very nice time out. I ordered pappardelle pasta for myself, the fusilli eggplant pasta for my 2 year old. We had calamari for an appetizer and all of us enjoyed it as well (including my 2 year old). We also had to fight our temptation to fill up off the rosemary bread. We had a friend that was out with us had a eating restrictions that were challenging and our server Patrick was awesomely patient and helpful. They were able to accommodate her and she had a beautiful and delicious meal. We had a delicious and nice meal. Thank you.

Best Italian food I have had since I was in Italy in 2005. Not exaggerating. Had the Pappardelle Basato with gluten free penne. Unbelievably good. The Chianti wine was a great pairing with that. The olive oil you can utilize for dipping was so pure that you could drink it. It may have been better than the olive oil I've had in Italy. Service was good too.

10/2020 - dropping two stars as service has been slow and generally bad the last few times we were here. For example, the hostess was rather rude today when we simply asked if our table is ready so we left and are across the street. 2019 - We had the mushroom risotto & gnocchi and scallops. Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also had the canolly as desert. This place is easily the best Italian restaurant in Little Italy.
