When you arrive, you wait in line to be seated. On a rainy Sunday morning, we only waited about 20 minutes. We ordered an omelet with a side of pancakes, and it was more than enough food for 2 people to share. The omelets are huge! Everything tasted really good, and I loved the cups of hot syrup for the pancakes.

Great breakfast spot. Line seemed long but it moved quickly. Once we got it we knew why. Service was extremely fast but we were not rushed. All the food was excellent. We had to try the famous apple pancake and it looks huge (it is huge) but it is light and not overly filling. We would go here again for wonderful breakfast food in a cozy local restaurant.

It does the job. I had high expectations for the pancakes. I prefer Cheesecake Factory pancakes which is nearby to this. Asked for crispy bacon it was more like jerky. Poached eggs were well done and solid on inside. Hash browns undercooked. Partner had a ham and cheese omelette as pictured. Huge. I’d eat here again for convenience only. Ok so we are here again. The bacon was part jerky part melt in your mouth. I had the blueberry pancakes which were much much better than the plain the other day. My companion had a ham and cheese omelette again and that’s why we came here... he loved that. 3.5 stars.

What a great experience. Line moved fast and service was prompt. Coffee is fantastic. I felt like there were four people taking care of me. Vanessa had a rude customer or two right next to me and she handled them with such class. The whole team are pros. The food was amazing. Nothing that hasn't already been said about the apple pancakes. Best breakfast experience I've ever had. Period.

Expect a wait but they are quick. I suspect the average wait time is 15 mins. It's a small place with seating on the outside. Very casual and homey feeling. Look at the menu while you wait so when you get inside you can place your order. Large portions. The food is good however I'm from the south so I had to add some seasoning. Great place for breakfast 🥞🍳

Exceeded my expectations! The food is tasty and cooked to order! The coffee is THE best I've had from anywhere I've traveled. So much so I brought some back to give as gifts and others to try! Definitely want to return to San Diego just to experience again.

Top 3 breakfasts we've EVER had! I don't even like crépes, but I stole two bites of my daughter's. I would order my own! BEST crépes ever in taste and texture. I had the Santa Fé omelet and wow. My other daughter got the potato pancakes and immediately you could tell how fresh they are. Start to finish this place is amazing. Oh and their coffee is pretty good too!

The food was Amazingly delicious; 1 order of pancakes is enough for 3-4 people… 1 order of an omelette can feed 3-4 people… with that being said the portions are big for the price. The down side is my SIM card got hacked after I used it there so if and when I return I’ll just use cash because the food was good.

Delicious breakfast food with a robust menu, including its famous pancakes and waffles. The avocado toast with thick cut bacon was fantastic, as were the chilaquiles with spicy green salsa. The coffee is topnotch too. Just be sure to get there early, even on weekdays, yo beat the crowd!

This restaurant is a great brunch spot with an extensive breakfast menu along with good prices. The portions are quite hearty and the quality is wonderful. Great service and atmosphere in the city as well. Would easily come back to enjoy its unique menu.

I have not been too impressed with what I have tried so far, very casual place. Felt very diner-y. Tried the pigs in a car and beef hash. Beef hash tasted better than it looked. The outdoor seating was not relaxing, there is a fan or AC that is very loud, which makes it hard to converse with the people at your table. Staff was really nice but I will not be coming back though.

The food at the restaurant was so amazing. The service was top-notch and very attentive. The coffee was fantastic and the quality of the food was great. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back when I visit San Diego. I thoroughly enjoyed the San Diego French toast, the thick bacon, and I got one egg with cheddar cheese scrambled.

I would like to give this place 5 stars, however; I cannot the whole atmosphere of this place made me uncomfortable as a young black women I came alone and wanted to try this place out as I have never been here before my experience occurred on 12/29 around 10:30AM the entire time the staff, servers, and customers (ALL mexicans) stared and would stop and listen to any conversation I had it was as though they could not believe a black person existed let alone would eat there....won't be back and if your black don't come here only if your mexican or white.

Awesome day to eat outside! Great coffee with frequent offers to top up. Fabulous service! They were slap busy, and another server jumped in on her break just to keep things moving. Fantastic food. No reservations. You could wait a little or a lot. Thursday morning went pretty fast for us.

Worth the wait for sure! Breakfast was yummy, my husband and kids said the pancakes were the best they’d had. My son’s omelet was filled perfectly so that the ratio of egg to fillings was equal. The bacon was crispy but not burnt.

The service was just great. The waitress was super nice and friendly, and the food was delicious. We had a fresh orange juice, and hot chocolate. The French toast We are perfect, pretty big too. The omelette was amazing. Full of veggies. I will totally recommend this place to my friends and family

For me this place had great service. the servers were friendly and nice and did what they could to make you as happy as possible. The person I was with got a great meal and was more than what he had even expected. My meal on the other hand was slightly less than what I expected and it was all right but only slightly disappointed. Other than that it was good enough to eat for breakfast. I may have to try this place one more time to give a better review.

Let me tell you this place is amazing for breakfast. David is the best server there. He deserve a big tip and pay raise. I'm a particular type of person and I never had to wait for anything. He always made sure my drinks were replenished. And he even said when we were not ready to order let me know when your ready because I don't want the reason you haven't ordered be because we weren't ready. I ordered the pig in a new blanket and i was not disappointed. My husband ordered fly me to the waffle moon. Than we ordered mushroom and cheese omelet with hashbrown. We were very satisfied thank you David.

Great place for breakfast. Definitely get there early to avoid the long line, but worth it. Service was wonderful and very helpful. The food is amazing. I had the cherry waffle and the cherries were so delicious. My husband had the apple pancake and all I can say is "Wow"!

In San Diego and saw this place had 5 stars, so we tried it and were not disappointed! Wait was short, outside seating so nice, friendly staff. Pretty sure the owner was out there hustling and bustling with everyone. Fresh strawberry pancakes, and corn beef hash breakfast, Coffee, iced tea. All so delicious!

Have been wanting to come here for years used to work downtown and always seen the long line when I passed by and was like I’m not waiting in that line trust me it’s worth it. Omelets are huge and can definitely share only thing don’t like is said it has to come with everything in it like the onions which we didn’t want in it but seen someone post a pic of a omelette that look like it just had ham and cheese in it so don’t know why we were told this.

The pancakes were fantastic! The baked pancakes with apples are a unique must try, and enough for sharing if you throw in a side of their thick, delicious bacon. It's just a short walk up from Seaport village.

I have gone here for 15 years. Food and service were excellent as usual. However, they have started to add a 4% surcharge “Due to rising costs”. There is no prior disclosure of this charge on their menus or otherwise. Staff was unable to explain where this charge even goes. This makes for very deceptive pricing. Where does the fee go? Employees? Is it a tip? Does it cover the cost of food? The owner’s pockets? Who knows. Also why do it as a surcharge, surprising customers, instead of increasing the prices of items? Leaves a terrible impression. More junk fees being passed onto consumers. Sad to see.

Excellent food and excellent service. First of all of their coffee is absolutely delicious. Also they have the best gluten-free waffles that I've ever had anywhere.... even better than the ones I make at home ( and I make pretty good waffles LOL) I had bacon and eggs that were cooked perfectly Melissa was our server. She was fun friendly efficient and paid great attention to detail. I love that she kept me refilled on hot coffee without ever having to ask for it. This place gets busy go early. I think they have a few locations we went to the one in La Jolla it was really nice.

This place was great. The secret is to arrive early. If you are there before 8am the wait will be minimal if any. We ate outside. The food was very good. I had the corned beef hash and eggs with pancakes. Everything was very tasty and good sized portions. The staff was very delightful and we never had to wait for someone to help us.

Overpriced for the quality you receive. Ordered a ham and cheese omelet and it was just a bunch of cheese thrown in the middle. Denny pancakes are better. The begin waffle was probably the best. Bacon was thick and too chewy.

The Baked Apple Pancake was worth everything: the price and the wait. Took the rest home. If you prefer to balance the sweetness I'd recommend a side of sour cream. The hash was a great choice except they need to cut the pieces of beef better; I found some gristle in my portion. The coffee is delicious! Attentive service, though very busy.

Very nice restaurant, we were lucky to get a table for 2 while the place is so busy! Service was excellent and people are friendly and fast, food is Delicious and the place is clean and sitting outside was excellent choice We ordered crepe and Mediterranean omelette baked in oven. I can’t say that the food was the best we ever had but it’s Good enough to come back to try other options The apple juice was the best we have ever tried though

Food was delicious. Service was horrible. It came off like I was an inconvenience being there an hour and twenty minutes before close. Every time I thought a staff member was coming to check on me they instead chose to pick up thing around me. I went to the nearby Ralph’s for a drink after I left because no refills were given offered. Rolling eyes and making faces around customers is unacceptable. I respect our service workers, as I’m a hardworking person myself, treating me that way is unforgivable and unfortunate. Perhaps this is the new standard of service for your establishment. Hopefully others have better service experiences that I did. It seemed like the customers who showed up after me near closing time surely did.

  • 3/5 Mary B. 1 year ago on Google
The menu is large and varied and includes vegan options. My hash browns were dry and burnt, and my over medium eggs were slightly undercooked. The cherry pancakes were soft and fluffy with a syrup with dark cherry flavor that was not overly sweet. The coffee was tasty although the cream was ever so slightly curdled. Service was excellent. This place is just kinda "meh"; I certainly wouldn't stand in line for it.

Really some great, even outstanding food here, just two blocks from my apartment in the Marina District, downtown. Try one of the baked pancakes for a delicious treat. The only downside is of course the price, which is steep for breakfast fare, but at least it's not just any breakfast fare. My companion and I tried at least six different things here over two days including the baked apple cinnamon pancakes, the cherry pancakes, the delicious smoky and thick bacon, and perfectly prepared eggs, amongst several other things that were all top notch. But $17 for a pancake (a la carte!) is pushing it, even with how ridiculously good the food is. Would be five stars otherwise. Service is spotty but with pancakes like these... Who cares?!

  • 5/5 Taurean W. 1 year ago on Google
Great food. Huge portions - one plate is enough for two people. Coffee was amazing and served with real cream - so good. Service was great as well. There was a line to get in, but it moved pretty fast. I will definitely come back. Pic of blueberry pancakes that came with my omelet.

  • 5/5 Eric L. 1 year ago on Google
Fantastic! Our crepe and pancake were rich, soft and perfectly baked. I especially loved the way they served lemon, butter and sugar for you to create your own lemon curd (or simply lemon juice). Their service and bottomless coffee was also nice. Remember to come early - we were there around 8am, and the line was already long around 9am.

When it comes to vegan breakfast options, Richard Walker's Pancake House is a standout choice! I opted for Veronica's Veggie Omelette without cheese, substituting it with vegan eggs, and it exceeded all expectations with its phenomenal taste and generous portion. Packed with broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions, the omelette satisfied my cravings. Though vegan butter was unavailable, they kindly offered jelly to pair with the thick slices of toast. The friendly service and quick food delivery added to the overall positive experience. My (non-vegan) sister thoroughly enjoyed her classic Eggs Benedict! Unfortunately, I live across the country. Otherwise, I would have definitely been back to taste their vegan pancakes and waffles. Overall, a definite must-try!

Terrible place the eggs benedicts were awful, the egg was completely cooked and the hollandaise sauce was like mayo. If you really love food, avoid this place! The location is great and also the ambience. Expensive place for the product. They remove only one of the two eggs we order both were the same. The duch pancake was descent.

  • 5/5 James P. 5 months ago on Google
The baked pancakes are the best. But be warned, it is not made from normal pancake batter - more of a pastry. Also if you get the cinnamon one, be prepared to consume your entire week's allotment of sugar. It's still worth it.

So our waitress was a bit of a mess. She kept bringing us coffee despite us saying we didn't want coffee. The food took about an hour and we didn't get the full meal. We waited an extra ten minutes after eating and still our full order hadn't came, so we had just decided to leave. Our waitress also offered to take away the plate as we were eating off of it...

Nothing Special. The pancakes are pancakes. The dutch baby we had was bare boned and boring. The grapefuit juice was tart. The service wasn't great but wasn't terrible. Not worth a wait. When Denny's beats your pancame game and you're a pancake house., it's time to step up your game.

I give this place 4 stars because while the food was absolutely OUTSTANDING!! The service really needed work. The server we had was hardly around, didn’t once check on us unless we got her attention for something. We didn’t ask for much but when our drinks were empty we had to constantly ask for a refill. For the price we paid I would at least expect better service. There was a man that was not our server sadly and his service was amazing! Made us feel right at home. We’re not from the area so the service was a big thing for me and im really disappointed it wasn’t what the reviews made it seem. There’s one lady that just really had a bit of an attitude, when we asked for a refill she furrowed her brows and said, again? With an unpleasant tone. Other than this I would most definitely come back! The portions for the price are AMAZING! The food was excellent in quality and in taste. Best pancakes we’ve ever had! But if I were you I’d steer away from having too much juice! Pricey and they charge per cup. But that’s not too big a deal, it just can definitely add up is all. Can’t wait to come back here when my husband and I return to San Diego!

I can't begin to express how amazing this place is! This is my go-to spot for breakfast/brunch. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is impeccable. Everyone is warm and friendly and it has such a great atmosphere. They have the best coffee (I typically drink 4-5 cups) and I normally don't drink coffee. This is at the top of my list when people ask me for breakfast/brunch recommendations.

My husband and I came here on a Saturday afternoon during our visit to San Diego from Houston. There wasn't a wait to be seated so we chose to sit outside. The owner, Richard, was there and was friendly to the customers. My husband ordered the San Diego French Toast with corned beef hash, and I ordered the turkey patty and eggs with blueberry pancakes no powdered sugar. The French toast was delicious and the flavor was not too sweet or overpowering, and the fruit toppings (strawberries, blueberries, and bananas) added the perfect amount of sweetness to this dish. In addition, the blueberry pancakes and turkey sausage were great!! However, the scrambled eggs were not good, but our other dishes were amazing. Thanks for a great brunch!!

Delicious corned beef hash!! Must order it crispy/well done & its like heaven. Got to meet Richard & he was so wonderful. It was honestly one of the best restaurants in San Diego & would definitely come back here again. Thank you Richard for giving us such a wonderful recommendation on the hash.

Maybe the experience, food wise is better at the restaurant, but I ordered food and it came cold. There were no utensils, napkins, butter. The chocolate milk literally was milk with chocolate syrup sitting at the bottom. Overall experience having the food delivered, not impressed. Won’t be ordering from this place again.

Great food, great service, and one of my go-to spots for breakfast. Plenty of options on the menu with some prices you'll be surprised to see in downtown SD. The waitstaff is on point and seem to love their jobs. Whether you're getting a classic breakfast, or one of their baked pancakes, you can't go wrong.

Let's start from the beginning. As expected, the parking is street or pay lot fairly close to the restaurant. I was only able to find a pay lot for $10. There were 2 of us and the wait wasn't too bad. About 20 minutes on Sunday at 9:30am. The place is so tiny, it's like sitting in a tin can. some people were place so close to the "one person at a time" bathroom, they were partially blocking the doorway. We didn't wait too long to order and the server was pleasant, but we waited 30 minutes for our meal. The coffee not bad, but not great and refills were free, so I drank about 4 cups while waiting. I ordered the egg & pancake combo and asked for over medium, but got supper runny eggs and the pancakes were way too dry to eat since I already drank 4 cups of coffee waiting for the food to arrive and was already at my limit for the day. My friend ordered the German pancake and said it was delicious, but it was so big, it was hanging off of the plate and when they placed it on our table, the pancake dragged across the surface of the table. I was literally disgusted watching it as it was happening. I wanted to try it, but after seeing that, I refused. In the end, the bill came to $50 plus 15% tip and $10 for parking. I enjoyed the coffee, the company, and the weather, but was underwhelmed by Richard Walker's Pancake House.
