It's a nice spot and the service was good. We ordered from the specials. The 2 suggested pizzas were really delicious. We also had the prosciutto and burrata that was served over cantaloupe. That sounded like a strange combination and it was, I wouldn't suggest it.

One of the oldest Italian joints in San Diego and they’re friendly staff and amazingly fresh and quality food proves why. Their daily specials are always made with the freshest ingredients. Although they’re known for their lasagna and pizzas, (literally any single one is delicious) any thing you get here is sure to make your tastebuds sing! They have two locations but this one is a bit more intimate.

Amazing italian restaurant, with generous and authentic pizzas. The pastas and deserts are delicious too. Be aware, you can't reserve a table in advance there; it's first come first serve: you have to put your name down on the list. On a Friday night, the wait can go up to 40-60 minutes. Also be aware that kids in a stroller count as one person

Great lunch with the family and dog!! All fresh ingredients. Gnocchi special with crab and pink sauce was the table favorite. But the calamari and caprese did not disappoint. Cannot wait to be back. They get busy so make sure to have a little patience or reservations will help!

I used to work in a couple of Italian restaurants so I'm happy to report that Buona Forchetta is outstanding, if not superb. Top notch service and food, in an unpretentious, family-friendly setting. Considering it was a busy, Saturday night and the number of covers, the sheer volume of high quality pizzas and pasta the kitchen must have been pumping out is mind blowing! Bravo!

What an awesome place to come spend a meal. Love the vibe here in a hip corner of South Park. If you’re going and it’s a decent day I would recommend sitting outside as the ambiance was fantastic with a smooth saxophone playing in the background. Food was also spectacular. I went with the Buona Forchetta sauce on some fresh fettuccine and it was excellent. We also split the Giulia pizza which had just the right touch of spice. Overall an awesome dinner and would highly recommend for good pasta in the area.

This restaurant is tucked in a residential area of South Park and I love the quietness of the neighborhood. Parking can be hit or miss depending on the day— you’ll need to find street parking. They have delicious Italian pastas and pizzas that you can customize if you’d like. I recommend making a reservation as well. Last time my friends and I went, there were a lot flying insects outside (hence the 4 stars), but it could just be the summer season. It would have been helpful if they had bug deterrent lights or candles.

This place is truly special… and the people that work really hard to make sure you have a great meal make it even more special. This place has great fresh food!! Valentina was our spectacular waiter and her recommendations were amazing. Pizza is so good and the ingredients they use for the pasta are so fresh… you will not be disappointed. A definite must try!!!

This has been one of the few restaurants out of the many I’ve been to that have genuinely surprised me. We went here and it was FULLY packed with a decent line out the door and they manage to get our apps and entrées out in maybe 40 minutes. A couple next to us sat down later and had their entrées/apps within$ 20 to 35 minutes. Impeccable service and amazing food! Highly recommend getting a rezzy before going! Food shown: Calmari, Pappardelle with Buona Forchetta Sauce, and the Juna pizza which we added arugula too. And of course their cannoli’s! We also ordered a tiramisu and it was phenomenal. Total for everything before tip was $80

We brought family from out of town and they agree, this is one of the best and most authentic Italian restaurants in San Diego. I was referred here by a native Italian, so I'm not surprised. I've been to Venice, Pisa, Florence and Rome. This is good Italian.

Buona Forchetta was an amazing place to go have dinner. The streetside environment was awesome, the service was fast and friendly, and very helpful explaining their menu options. When the food came out it was absolutely awesome, the margarita pizza has a great crust, great cheese, and awesome sauce. The pasta was super good as well. It was also very affordable especially for the quality of the food, and the servers were there to refill waters or check on how we were doing. Will definitely eat here again.

We dined with a larger party so got to try quite a few menu items and they were all delicious. Service was quick, you could tell the coordination of the staff was top notch! For appetizers there were classics, but we had the beet salad which was balanced and lite, alongside the gluten free focaccia bread 🤤🥰 While there wasn’t a full bar, the drink offerings were complementary and tasty. When the main dishes arrived we were wow’d again. The Cacio e pepe was super authentic. We felt like we were teleported to Italia where la nonna made the meal just like we like. All the pasta was delicious, but the Gluten free Eva pizza was the star of the show. A treat for the eyes and senses. The restaurant itself is pretty small. There’s more room at the outside tables than inside, and there are two single restrooms for customers, but most appeared to be local so the wait was short. When you visit you’ll see people lined up outside to pickup takeout. Parking was all residential street parking so leave time to find a spot and carpool if you can. We were sad to leave, great experience.

This food will transport you back to Italy in a heartbeat. Great for casual or special occasions. The pesto gnocchi and cannoli were some of the best I’ve ever had—even after living in Italy. You just can’t beat fresh handmade pasta.

My favorite Italian spot in San Diego and maybe of all time. The homey atmosphere, great rotating specials and friendly staff make it impossible to have a negative experience here I especially love the artisanal Neapolitan style pizza. I can get pretty busy as it is well-loved by all San Diegans, so make a reservation.

Buona Forchetta is completely insane! In the best way possible! Their focaccia, salads, spaghetti, and pizza are to die for. Top notch cooking and service. It’s hard to find any fault with this place besides the fact that you always need a reservation. Honestly, this is probably the best overall Italian restaurant in San Diego. A few beat it for specific dishes, but you can bring anyone here and find them an amazing dish they’ll love.

We ordered fried calamari and two pizzas. Calamari tasted fresh and pizzas were some of the best we had in a while. The pizza dough was chewy and soft and the toppings were flavorful.

Had to try this after hearing how good it was. Of course it did not disappoint. Staff were amazing and food was magnificent. I truly believe this is as close as you can get to homemade Italian food. Drinks and desserts were stupendous.

I give reviews typically when I'm overly impressed or extremely disappointed. WAITER WAS THE HIGHLIGHT... And he was not even supposed to be our waiter, but I guess our waitress had something else to do... I haven't been out much at all during covid... but decided to take my parents out for a nice dinner. My meal wasn't served until my father was already done with his Ravioli... I got Artichoke risotto sounded sooo good, couldn't see a single Artichoke and it was actually just bland and grey, lamb ordered medium rare, but served Well done... Sent that back, which I hate to do...Mother ordered gnocchi with scallops...One side of scallops seared, no cook on the other, they were under done raw in the middle, with gummy gnocchi and the porcini sauce had NO flavor... sent that back and got a to-go ravioli for my mother... since that was the only meal that was ordered at the table that had flavor and was enjoyed by my father... ordered a to go chicken picatta... I guess it's served with potatoes and carrots and some other vegetable.. gotta say, the chicken WAS cooked well, but the potatoes are raw and whatever coating is on the chicken is gummy and soft with a pungent lemon flavor that is not even close to a balanced picatta sauce. The waiter took the things we sent back off the ticket, and I was just going to chalk it up to a bad day, take the picata to go and eat that later, since I did not get a meal to replace the lamb and my father was done with his meal by the time I received my lamb. I can't see myself coming back if the chefs don't understand basics of cooking. I truly used to love everything I've ever had here. I hope it's just a covid-tastrophe otherwise, I can't see keeping customers coming back for more. We just wanted an enjoyable and tastymeal out... Not a free dessert to go... which we turned down. I don't think I would've even reviewed if the to-go orders were cooked well, but no such luck. I just spent $130 and I had a piece of bruschetta and a gummy gnocchi with a bite of risoto... My original post stopped here... but I just went to try the other vegetable on the picata... Couldn't even bite through a carrot. It was like it was rotten uncooked carrot head... SO SO SO HORRIBLE!!!

The service at the start wasnt good, waitress was annoyed and brought it while attending us. The price for the food was reasonable and gave a generous serving. I ordered the special Risotto with lamb rack, however, the food was bland and not tasty. My partner ordered pizza but he didn't enjoy his either. Probably won't be back here again.

Best Italian food I’ve ever had. The garlic focaccia was excellent. I really appreciated the vegan cheese option for pizza as well. We got the Bruna and the Juna. Service was fast. We didn’t have to wait even though we didn’t have a reservation Definitely going to come back here when I can

Came to celebrate Mexican Mother’s Day. My mom loved the place. She had pasta with pesto sauce, was a big fan. I had the fettuccine carbonara it was good, a bit heavy so I’m glad it wasn’t too late when we ate. We also had their house red wine and tasted pretty good (I’m not a big wine person) the fried calamari was great. The pizza was alright. Good flavor but the dough is so thin and the pizza falls apart when you pick it up.

Amazing food and really friendly service! It was busy and we could see the servers were busting their butts trying to get around to everybody but we never really felt left out in the cold apart from when we were waiting for them to pick up our bill. Even then we were totally fine with that because they were trying their absolute best. I ordered a pizza with mushroom, prosciutto and truffle oil and oh my lord it was amazing! Highly recommend!

One of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego. Located in South Park, this is a trendy restaurant in the area with outdoor dining. It seems to be always busy. When we visited this place for Father's Day celebration, the restaurant was packed with live music. Love the vibes here. The foods were amazing and absolutely delicious. The only reason I gave it a 4 star was that we couldn't get our waiter's attention. Maybe because they were busy due to Father's Day celebration. We started the evening with two appetizers. The focaccia bread was so good. I probably shouldn't have ate so much of it. We shared the appetizers and the fried calamari was one of the best we ever had. My son ordered their steak special. It was grilled to perfection. The meat was very tender and juicy. The portion was so huge. My son had to pack half of the food home. Probably the highlight of the evening was the Bronzino fish dish. I loved the tender texture of the fish. Like many high end Italian restaurants, Bronzino is always a featured dish. This restaurant did a good job on bringing out the natural flavor of this fish. I ate the whole fish by myself, no left overs. With the nice breeze outdoor, we had a great evening celebrating Father's Day together with the family.

Went here for dinner, ordered “Chris” pizza it was good but it needs more toppings. Also got the calamari and that was delicious. Good quantity, slightly breaded, not oily, not deep fried serve with arugula. For drinks I highly recommend the West Coast IPA. Smooth and easy to drink. Probably the best pizza and beet salad I’ve ever had!! I’m obsessed with both so having the best of each one in the same meal was an absolute treat! Everything was made to perfection. The service was incredible. They’re so kind and quick to attend to you. Our food came out super fast too! I highly recommend this restaurant! Can’t wait to go back when we visit again.

After waiting 45 minutes in line, at 7:00 pm they suddenly announced that anyone who had not placed their order would not be served. What did they just say? There's lots of Italian food choices for us. This place will not be one of them. Well, we ended up going there anyway... turns out our pizza was soggy and the salad was fairly mediocre and had way too many walnuts. So that's that. Way lots of other italian food choices for their nonsense.

I mean... nothing beats just being dragged into an authentic Persian restaurant by your Persian friends. I was told this has been here for over 40 years and a go to restaurant for most Persian families. Came in for a late lunch and it was still pretty busy. The kitchen had a glass window so you can see them grill & prepare your food. We got the yogurt dip with pita bread. I had them order for me since they wanted me to try other things. I ended up with a lamb kabob (1/2 kabob with rice & grilled veggies)... so tender, juicy, & melts in your mouth good. I never really thought I'd enjoy lamb but this was really good. I also tried their lamb chops & their combination plate. All really good. An order is plenty to split between two people.

Good service. The Mongolian beef is tasty. It's pricey but the service plate is family style and huge. Also got the Peking chicken which is tasty, sweet, and like the different deep fried and stir fried option kinda like orange chicken at Panda Express.

I have worked in many authentic Italian restaurants in my time and Italian is something that I regularly venture out for. The calamari fritti here was excellent, but my dinner I truly had to struggle through. An Alfredo sauce is pretty simple so the fact that the sauce for one of it tasting like the bottom of a shoe... Is saying something pretty bad. Everything else was pretty bland as well. We may be back for appetizers sometime but it's highly unlikely that we'll be ordering from here again. Staff seemed nice, but too occupied with duties to find out.

Been here twice for a weekend breakfast. Both times didn't disappoint. Patio seating is nice, inside even nicer with a very cool ambiance. I love the decor and shape of the building. The steep roof gives a very unique feel. Now, the food. It's amazing. From simple breakfast staples to things a little unique. The menu has many options and the service is very good. I look forward to my next visit.

My husband and I have seen this little cafe each time we drive down foothill. One day, when those cooperate restaurants were slammed with people , we decided to try it out. Sure enough, Great experience. Feels like home cook food. Like customer service . Definitely our morning place !!

I love this place, they have a really good menu selection and their food is delicious. I highly recommend most items, especially their pizzas. My main complaint rest with their foccacha bread, if you are reviewing my pics it is the bread looking item that looks as if it is half eaten. That portion is gone because it was burnt. Like charred. Not edible. My wife threw it out before I took these photos otherwise that would have been good evidence. My only other negative encounter was on mother's day. The table rep kept calling me my wife's name even after I corrected her twice and then told me my order, which I received a message telling me it was ready for pick up, was not ready. I had to show her the message in order for her to believe me. My food was ready and was brought out shortly thereafter.

I highly recommend this pizza hub cause they serve the best pizza in town! With a thin crust and the crispness of it! The cheese that indulge your mouth and you can tell the crew to add more of its toppings with not that pricey additional fee. What a perfect pizza pub in the area. I can't wait to visit this place again!

Loved this place! Cute outdoor ambiance with plenty of space. The servers were very kind. We visited on my birthday and got sang to by the server, along with a tiramisu! Wine was great, we had the burrata and calamari appetizers, which were fresh. The Fatore salad was large and delicious. We tried the pesto, carbonara, and their gnocchi special with clams. I recommend their pesto with pappardelle. Cooked perfectly al dente. All the pasta was delicious. We ordered a second tiramisu along with the cannoli. Grazie mille, alla prossima!

The waiter was a little rude and honestly he was not very helpful when deciding what to order. I honestly think he was inconvenienced by us asking questions. Which is quite odd since we went to an Italian restaurant that pretends like we are in Italy. Completely overrated and not worth the money.

This is our favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego! Food is always superb, service is very friendly. We’ve been coming here once every 2-3 weeks and we always get the same awesome server, Felipo. It always feels like we’re going to our good friends’ house. Today was the last day before another stay at home order takes effect so we decided to have lunch here. At the end of our meal we were treated to a nice surprise from the restaurant - a cheesecake and panna cotta. It was very nice of them!

This review is long over due. There's a true reason people love it here! The food is absolutely amazing. The staff is wonderful, and the vibe is so cozy. I was last here before Covid changed the world. This place left an ever lasting impression on me. My younger brother (who is the pickiest eater) cleaned his place and started on mine. Everyone there was having a blast eating the wonderful food. The waitress was genuinely nice enough to teach us the correct pronunciation of the dishes after we asked. This place deserves all the praise.
