SECOND VISIT: And finally we returned. The ordering format changed. Now they seat you first and a waiter takes your order, like any traditional place. Unfortunately this wasn't the only thing that changed. Service was good, but the food was bland AF. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and they were so boring. Barely any cheese or sauce covered these things and the rice and black beans were boring as well. Not bad or cooked improperly, just boring. Wife ordered the potato rolled tacos and they were equally as boring. Salsa bar was one of the highlights from our last visit, but this also changed. Now instead of interesting salsas (see previous review below), they now had just about given up and had the bare basics. This place used to have soul and definitely a lot of potential as they just had opened prior to our last review, but now they lost something. That something, was a soul... (Original review - was 5 stars) Great place. Dined on a Saturday night during their soft opening. Ordering is similar to Tribute Pizza. You place your order and get a number then go find a table. I'm not sure if I like this system or not. It wasn't too busy, so finding a table wasn't hard, but I could imagine it might be a PITA during busy times. My wife and I ordered a couple of drinks, the mushroom quesadilla, and the brisket tacos. All the food was delicious and served quickly. They had a good craft beer selection and even a salsa bar, complete with free chips. This star for us was the kale and carrot salsa at the salsa bar. This was like the Latin version of hummus. Very savory and delicious. We will definitely be returning.

New place, didn't know what it was and I just walked in sort of by accident. No wait time, friendly staff. The food was really good. My friend tried the Elote and it was amazing! The roast duck taco wasn't worth the extra 2 dollars in my opinion. I look forward to coming back and trying different items on the menu!

One our favorite North Park stops. Some people on here complain that’s it’s not the best Mexican food they’ve had, but keep in mind this place is Latin food so it includes more than just your own personal San Diego version of Mexican fare. The empanadas are amazing and the drinks are great. Good deals for Brunch and happy hour.

Another great meal at Tamarindo. My friend and I ordered the guacamole and chips and it was delicious! The bowl comes with all the ingredients "unassembled," so you have the option of mixing it all together as-is, or you can remove or adjust the amount of each ingredient according to personal taste. We just mixed it all together and loved it. The pomegranate seeds were a surprise, but delicious, addition. My Cerveza fish tacos were great, as were the carne asada tacos my friend had. Another great surprise was my Tamarindo Margarita. Very unique and delicious!

Just sort of ran into this place walking around North Park one Saturday afternoon. The place is super cute on the eye, but it's not just looks. The food was amazing! I got shrimp and chorizo tacos. My partner got machaca. I got a fancy cocktail with absinthe and lavender in it because why wouldn't I? The food was delicious... crazy flavorful and a perfect serving size. Fresh and overall awesome. Great service and vibe. Definitely recommend. <3

My new favorite taco Tuesday destination in San Diego! The filet mignon taco was incredible and the chicken chimichurri bursting with flavor. I really enjoyed their Tommy margarita and found their guacamole recipe both original as well as gratifying.

Only came for drinks and a snack, so can't speak to the entrees, but everything we had was ridiculously good. Staff is also amazing and really friendly, and for a busy place, they have a great system for getting people their food quickly. (You order at the register and then find a spot and they bring the food and drinks to you.) I went for the margaritas and was impressed at how bright they were-not overly sweet.
