Someone was having a bad day in the kitchen. I tell you I have a love-hate relationship with this long-standing Roberto‘s taco shop. I’ve been coming here for 35 years and it is always hit or miss. There’s absolutely no consistency in their food- from flavor to portion size. Well today was the last straw. The size of my bean burrito was absolutely pathetic. They raise their prices but the quality of their food is horrendous. Check out the size of my bean and cheese burrito. It’s mostly unmelted cheese and hardly any beans. I didn’t ask for a quesadilla. Come on Roberto’s, get your act together.

My past experiences with this restaurant have been the worst. Last time I was there we saw the cashier walk outside with family members while we were waiting to order our food. We waited for her to go back in and after a few minutes I just went straight to the window and gave the lady my order. Today I went to order my food and it went worst that last time. I waited in line for about 20 minutes. Saw a guy pee on a car while my 6 year old daughter was in the car with me. When I got home I found out they gave me the wrong order. I call the restaurant and no answer. When they finally answered the phone sounds horrible and they couldn't hear me. I decided to eat the food and try again tomorrow. When I opened the food I found a hair inside the burrito. I will go to the restaurant to try and see if they could either give me my actual food or my money back. I feel disgusted by the experience.

My husband and I ordered food tonight from Roberto’s to go. He got rolled tacos the two first tacos he ate were fine the third rolled taco he bit into a tooth pick. Unacceptable. It looks like others are finding tooth picks in their rolled tacos based on the reviews below. Seems like this is intentional and the cook wants to cause harm. This place is looking for a law suit….

Look what I found inside my rolled taco !!! I let the manager know and he just smiled at me!! Very disappointing...oh...and no restrooms for customers either... and Roberto's did it again for the second time recently. Found another toothpick inside my taco and hurt my mouth. they returned the money but did not apologize. The owner should know about it. That's gross

I don't get it...this place use is to be happening. A line of cars consistently. So I go inside to order. Then they say no dining in. WTH. I asked why. Dude tell me the girl at the window is by herself. What does that have to do with me eating inside. It wasn't like I don't throw away my trash and make a mess. If they don't want dining...put a sign outside. What happened to the Roberto's of the old days

Upon pulling up to the drive thru there is no sign indicating where to order, and where it looks like you do, I did not hear anything. It gets really busy but the line moves fairly quickly. When arriving at the drive thru window, they took long to acknowledge me and I told the lady I couldn’t order because I did not hear anything upon passing through. She stated what I wanted because everyone was waiting. Well I obviously was one of those people waiting as well. Thankfully she had some good enough attitude to take my simple order of a carne asada burrito. This burrito was honestly not that great, it didn’t have much flavor and the salsa given is not even spicy nor too great either. There are much better taco shops out there and people who have a much better attitude to make business.

If it was possible to give this place a 0, I would've. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito through drive-thru. What I got was an abomination. A completely cracked tortilla with dried out refried beans and cold cheese. I thought I could get past the horrible looking tortilla, but after biting into it and tasting the beans and cheese, I had to throw the whole thing away. If this place messes up a beans and cheese burrito, what else are they going to ruin. Sad that this was served in San Diego of all places!

Tiny carne asada burrito. Enchiladas were good. Asked for guacamole on side and this is what I got. Too bad, love Roberto's Will stick to El Cajon Blvd location or Solana beach.

I’m giving this place 5 stars for their bean and cheese burritos. They’re DEFINATELY some of the best I’ve ever had. However, and I don’t know if this is a California thing, all the meat style tacos are just kind of plain and lacking in seasoning. In Arizona, our carne Asada is Sonoran style, and it’s LOADED with flavor and juicy. I don’t know if I’m spoiled in Arizona, but California take note lol. You guys REALLY haven’t had true, flavorful, melt in your mouth carne Asada till you come to our state! Maybe I just didn’t find the right spots this time.. But the bean and cheese, GREAT!! 3/5 for carne Asada taco.!

Food was _blank_. Borderline horrible but far from descent/ok. Service horrible rude/attitude. I think their attitude from previous customers transferred over to my order. I was not rude, demanding, obnoxious or drunk by any means. Me and my party as well as the next party were told we couldn't dine-in. But the third one was allowed to eat their plates there. Guacamole was dark, blacken. Food was cold. This place was OK in the past(6yrs ago) Place is dirty inside and outside. Bunch of homeless/ tweekers. True hurts but I don't want to smell something rotten while I eat my food.

Great food at a low price. I recommend anyone who is looking for some good food to come here. I have nothing bad to say when it comes to this taco shop. I will definitely come back again.

Today I Found what I thought was a cockroach in my horchata, after carefully revising my water it was not a cockroach but a fruit fly and I am very upset that my 2 yr old was drinking out of the horchata. I have been a loyal customer for a while now and although I do appreciate that employee offered a refund of my full order when I called, due to timing I was unable to drive back to return order. I called back twice to inform them that I couldn’t go back to return food but no one answered phone. I understand that things happen but my advise for the owner, is to oversee employees and make sure food is always checked prior to giving it to customers , ensure quality of food and always remind employees to provide good customer service( Most of the times, cashiers are rude and not friendly) The only reason why I kept going back was because the food tastes good but this time burritos were way to small, ( regular “home size” burritos ) smaller than any other time I’ve purchased. I honestly did not enjoy my food and my entire family felt nauseated, now I am not sure if this place cares about the cleanliness of their place. I will not go back to this place and will not recommend it to anyone.

Ordered a California burrito. Meat was dry n tough, the fries were old n stale. I was super disappointed. This place used to be good. The salsa is just tomato puree no spice or flavor. Honestly with so much taco shop competition in the area. Youre better off going down the street n spending your money elsewhere.

I asked specifically for no sour cream (allergies) & the roll tacos were filled with sour cream. I called them to explain to them, and ask to see if they can remake! Soon as I said hello! the lady said “ no we’re closed “ and just proceeded to hang up. So I wasted money, and couldn’t even get it re made. Not even a word out to explain what happened. Just hung up. Horrible customer service, and I loved this place. Sadly will never go back.

Classic late night spot with exceptional prices! I stopped in and got a machaca breakfast burrito for only around 5.75 and their quesadillas were like 3.75. In Hemet I pay almost double those prices. Food was fresh and fast!

Mexican food here is actually not bad. People here in Southern California really love their Carne asada fries, and here is the spot to get them. The only negative thing is that it draws in the drunk and rough crowds with no security present. If you want to come out with family, just avoid this place after 8

Haven't been here in years, wanted a drive thru so decided to get some dinner here, there were about 6 cars in front of me. I figured that was a good sign. To have a long line the food must be good. Then before I realized it we had been waiting a very long time! Almost drove out of their line to leave but ended up waiting it out. Almost a 40 minute wait!! The food was delicious but not sure if I'd wait that long again. Prices are decent and the portions are good.

You come here for the cheap food and 24 hour service. Not a fan of bean and cheese but their bean and cheese burrito changed my mind on em!! Literally went here everyday for a week straight to try everything and nothing disappointed.

I really don't care about the atmosphere. I care about the food. And the rolled tacos here are freaking awesome, great, terrific, and yummy. I will take pictures next time. Didn't get a chance because I ate the rolled tacos ASAP.

Food is pretty good. However, it claims to be open 24 hours and it’s not. They always close the store even if there is a line of people at night. They always claim to not have a cook. It’s really annoying, specially if you drive a long distance just to eat here at night. It’s an ongoing issue so it makes me feel like management is a joke. Place is usually busy so it’s definitely poor management. Embarrassing! Don’t come here past 11 at night.

They've definitely been stepping up their game. I used to avoid this spot at all costs on account of bad service and bad food but now it's actually decent! The rolled tacos are always on point now!🙏

Quality of this food was very good. I could not believe these friendly prices. Now I understand why they always pretend to be closed. Bean burrito was good but be aware that the shredded beef burrito might be more soggy than what you bargained for. Fortunately, there were plenty of napkins.

Most of their breakfast burritos are $5.25, and although that is up from $4.50 a short time ago, it's still pretty cheap. And they're good! No restroom on premises, but other than that, always a solid stop

I grew up in Chula Vista and these are the OG'S of mexican fast food! Whenever I'm in town I stop by and order some rolled tacos! You don't know how good you have it till you move and it's gone! The staff was great and the food is legit! Viva Roberto's !

A stoner staple in the heart of Chula Vista. Delicious Mexican food at 1am has never tasted as good as Roberto's. A simple bean & cheese burrito can be the difference between a good night and a great night.

My wife & I have been eating here since we we’re teenagers. It has always been affordable, they have the best prices in all San Diego’s mexican eateries. We ♥️ Roberto’s Taco Shop!
