Hands down some of the best fried rice I have had! I would come here again just for that fried rice! Actually came here for my birthday because I had to $30 off coupon and I'm so glad I found this place. Portion sizes are huge! My husband and I split the entree of the Spicy Hibachi Chicken and we both went full! The chicken was freaking amazing! So perfectly cooked and juicy and properly flavorful. Not too spicy at all. Fried rice was beautiful as well. Quite a large portion size of this as well. We asked for extra veggies because the veggies were actually quite little; Also only zucchini and mushroom so we would have appreciated a little more variety there. Soup and salad that came at the start but also very simple but delicious on their own. We also asked for the pan fried Chicken Gyoza appetizer. Came with I think six appetizers and they were quite nice. Not stomach feeling or anything and we didn't even need to have ordered these considering how much food there was in the entree. Got the Green Tea Ice Cream for dessert and it was unexpectedly nice! Smooth and just perfectly sweet. Disappeared real quick! Ambience of the place was also perfect. A lot of tables there and it seemed like a lot of people will celebrating their birthdays. Everything was quite a show as well. The chefs actually making the food was so skilled with the knives and everything they were using. Definitely recommend this place even for a good entertainment session haha.

The food is good. 2 stars due to long waits. We arrived on time for our 8:15pm reservation and we still endured a 25 minute wait to be seated. We were seated at a table that still had crumbs. Waiter took our drink orders promptly, but we received our drinks 45 mins later. Mind you, I’m here celebrating a birthday. We received soup after sitting at the table for an hour… and chef didn’t start cooking until 10pm… so if you are on a time limit or just don’t want to experience long waits- then think twice. Our server was very positive .. but the timing of everything was unbearable. Everything still tasted lovely. Instead of asking what flavor of ice cream we wanted, waiter asked if we wanted ice cream… isn’t part of the 6 courses that we paid for… then yes we want it .

Such a waste experience for 90$ I booked reservation at 8.30pm and Chef got to table at 10.30pm ! Not even once the manager came to apologize and the worse part they were not willing to even give 5% discount for waiting at our table without food! The chef completed cooking within 15-20mins and none of the food was prepared the authentic Benihana way! This is the fourth franchise I’m eating in and probably the only worst tasting food! The chicken was not well cooked . Such a disappointment and if you are short on chef please don’t take reservations and waste our money and time

First, does this look like a 35.00 meal? They brought inedible soup and salad! Then he didn’t serve fried rice to me. They said I asked for steamed? Nope. But it didn’t matter because I didn’t get any rice! My husband shared his disgusting burnt egg, raw onion fried rice with me. It was terrible! They gave me onions, which i specifically asked not to have. The Veggies were raw and unflavored! The filet had a lot of fat but was edible. The drinks had too much carbonation. Suffice it to say that I will never be back! Never never never. What I wish is that we had NEVER come here to eat. Then to boot, they brought my rice at the end of the meal. Said someone else took my rice. Nope. My rice was supposed to be fried and served near the beginning! Please for the love of God, go anywhere else! And it was $106.00 with zero alcohol or appetizers. Can I have a complete refund please?

This is not something spectacular place but it is good for a Japanese steak house. Would prefer 3 stars because of prices. Yiu have to pay extra for fried rice which I have never seen at such a place. Lots of birthdays being celebrated here. Giving 4 stars for the $30 off for your birthday. Food fresh, good cooks

I ordered my food online for pickup, get there to the restaurant, text the number that I was given to let them know I was there, no one never brought my food out, had to go in, once in looks like my order has just been sitting there, got the chicken fried rice for 2 which I thought but it was small and just for one, but anyway the food was cold and dry, didn't get any sauce or a fork to ear it with, only good thing was the lemonade and the 1/2 gallon size. But I guess they didn't have a top to go on it because it wasn't one on it. Just a all around bad experience

I've always enjoyed going to Benihanas , and not always for the show, the food is really good:) Lately, just expect a longer wait time to get a table, 15 min wait at dinner is more like 30-40 min wait. They don't have enough servers, so this is a big reason why you have to be patient. I over heard as we were waiting. This last time I went for my bday, and I love getting the bday certificate from them so I can use it on my entree which is $30 plus dollars. My husband gets sushi and I'll get a roll too. So we def spend more than the $30 they give you as a bday treat. This was the first time the server said I had to get $60+ worth of food to use it. I've always gotten $30+ worth of food, it says that too on the certificate. It excludes drinks and happy hr which is fine. So just a heads up on that. And whenever I get one of their entrees that includes several things at dinner, like a hot green tea, a soup, a salad, and a ice cream dessert:) Well, I never get the hot green tea or dessert unless I ask. So again, don't just expect to get it. Over all it was good, just pricey for the dining experience. They didn't even say Happy Birthday; and no I'm not expecting a song haha. But just saying it would be nice. And when we get the bill, the server just waited for payment this last time, like staying by me. I'm not gonna dine and dash lol. I saw alot of to-go orders, so if you're craving that chicken fried rice, then I would go that route for now.

Don't come here if you're hungry. I made a reservation for 7p.m. I made sure to arrive early but apparently that wasn't needed. My table was not ready until almost 7:30. The waitress came over right away to take our orders and since I was hungry I made sure to order an appetizer so I wouldn't have to wait for the chef. Needless to say by 8p.m. I had to remind my server about my appetizer which was just edamame so it shouldn't have taken that long and our chef did not come to the table until a little after 8:30. I don't think waiting an hour and a half to eat is acceptable when you make a reservation. I still rated this Benihana's with three stars because once the chef showed up he was highly entertaining and the food was good. But the wait kind of spoiled the whole night for all of us.

I had my birthday celebration with a large party so highly recommend a reservation for dinner time! The food was delicious and worked around my shellfish allergy. We had Chef Kyle, as our first experience, we truly enjoyed his humor and interaction with our large group of 8 adults. The staff & manager was helpful in storing my birthday cake and brought our extra utensils and plates for my guests. I can’t wait to return again!

So my gf took me there for my birthday and it turned to be the worst dinner experience ever. After waiting for almost an hour to be seated (although we have a confirmed reservation), we had to wait for another 30 minutes till the waitress showed up to take our order. Then 30 minutes later, our drinks and soup came. Then waiting for another hour till we got a chef to start to cook for us. Another thirty minutes to bring the dessert then another 30 minutes to pay our check. And finally guess what!! We saw our chef while we were leaving, peeing in the bushes. No wonder why I got an explosive diarrhoea in the middle of my meal. A total lack of personal hygiene and cleanliness that will prevent me from even thinking to come back or even recommend the place to anyone.

They have a good formula here, we got the steak and chicken and it was delicious. They put on a good show. Is it worth $43 per person? For onion soup, salad, fried rice, and meat and veggies? Then we had ice cream.

What a fun experience! Our server was Miles and chef was Tino. They both delivered. The table seats 8 and since we were a party of 4, we were seated with two other parties of 2 each. All the food we ordered was delicious (shrimp, scallops, steak, chicken, mushrooms, zucchini, onions) and Miles and Tino kept us entertained.

Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a family dinner to have! It's magnificent!! Thank you to all the staff at this location!!

We have always wanted to go to a Benihana's and there was one within walking distance of where we were staying and let us tell you it was totally awesome. After placing our orders and after they brought some super delicious Miso soup, this guy comes out and starts twirling the utensils and putting on a really great show. Then he gets to cooking for everyone around the table. At one point he sets the table on fire! WOW! We started out with the appetizer Chili Ponzu Yellowtail that was smokin hot but not too spicy hot and most delicious. Then he served us up the Hibachi Salmon that was cooked to perfection. One of the best meals we've ever had. We also had the Benihana Mango Lemonade that was totally awesome. Do yourselves a favor and get over there a.s.a.p. You'll be happy you did.

The food was delicious, good portions served. There were up charges not communicated to us. The wait on the lobby was terrible and the wait once seated was awful as well. We don't hate the place, but it won't be a first choice.

Friendly staffs. Food is good. More like coming for food experience. I come here often. Seems like recently the portion of food is less by half while the price remains. Need to book about 1 week in advance. We arrived at 6pm. It took about 1.5 hour to wait until we get the food. Seems like they don’t have enough chef. Chef is friendly but look a bit tired from work. No more family photo for birthday celebration.

This is a very basic restaurant people go here for the experience, but if you buy a griddle from Lowe’s, you can do the exact same things they do. The edamame it was “OK” and the sushi was definitely not the not up to par. Whoever came up with the “buffalo sauce on the shrimp idea” shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the decision making department.

The overall experience was good and suitable for a date night. The food was delicious, I ordered the Sumo rolls and my girlfriend had salmon noodles and veggies. The hot sake was good as well. The service was decent overall but we didn’t receive our appetizers until after the entree was already served. And the chef was cool and entertaining, but I had to inquire about my girlfriend’s food being cooked so our meals were served about 15 minutes apart. We just shared my meal until hers was served. The atmosphere was cool and I would say the only downside to sitting at the “chef’s table” in front of the grill, is limited space. There’s other parties at the table too so there’s not much elbow room to position your plates and eating comfortably. Good food though 😋

Benihana really does reduce amount of meat, however, the food are good as usual. Fresh ingredients, I ordered Ocean treasure, they come with small lobster, prawn, fried rice and scallop. I did enjoy my time with family, chef was also funny 😄 Apart from the amount of meat, everything was good.

My girlfriend and I went to celebrate and came away incredibly disappointed. The service was awful. We waited for 30 minutes just to have our order taken (after the waitress had said she would be back in "4 minutes"). We then waited another 50 minutes for the chef to arrive and begin preparing our meals. This occurred only after both my girlfriend and I independently went looking for another server because ours had disappeared. The food and show were mediocre at best. We've been to other hibachi restaurants and have been blown away by the experience. Our chef seemed nervous and like he was still in training. The food was under seasoned and underwhelming. The soup was the only part that met expectations. After the meal, we spoke to a disinterested manager and were given a begrudging 10% discount. This is my first ever 1 star review. We went in excited. We left feeling like we had wasted $100 and our time. Would not recommend.

For so many years I have been a customer of Benihana’s. It was my first upscale restaurant when I was 14. Celebrated graduations, birthdays and many special occasions. I proposed to my wife here 30 years ago and proposed again on our 25th anniversary. Benihana for me had been a place of tradition, quality and excellence until last night. The food is still the best however the service has been declining with the years. The Japanese hospitality has been fading, the goal of perfection is no longer there. Our server’s attention was only for her family member that was donning there, the other 5 of us had almost no service. I understand taking care of family but it’s a restaurant and all patrons are expecting a good service. When I talk of perfection I’m referring to the master cook. There’s no order or the cook decides how you are going to eat. He started with the rice… this is the tradition, I had order Splash and Meadows. He started with the stake and left the appetizers to the last I has my shrimp with the veggies and the appetizer shrimp all at once. I was celebrating my birthday and it was not a memorable experience like all the other time’s I have been there. Of course I will go back… at least one more time just to see if they go back to what my humble opinion is of quality and excellence. I really hope they fix the little hiccups.

The food was nice but for some reason we waited for our food more than an hour. We were served appetizers on the house. Anyway I think it was a bit pricey for what you get. Overall, a fine place.

We had reservations for 8 o’clock they seat us about 8:30. things were going really slow but when we finally got a cook he was really good. he put on a great show I’ve been to a lot of Benihana‘s and I’ve never seen any of the tricks that this guy does his name was Tino and I highly recommend Tino for anyone that’s coming here we had a great experience and he really knows how to cook the food. What time we were done with everything it was after 11:00 pm so I did take a long time

A good place to go with family or a big group. Their service is good the servers and chiefs are friendly and interactive. It is a bit on the pricey side as far as what you get, I feel like it should be less but it is in a busy area as it’s right by a hotel. I would recommend.

Reservation for 5pm. And at 615. Still have no chef at table. Seen waiter twice. Asked if chef is coming soon. He didn't know. Now just walked by and said 30 minutes Then have to wait for it to be cooked. No we won't be back.

12-3-22, Saturday, around 8am hubby and I randomly decided to stop by and try this spot, which I tried 20 years ago. It was a nice size crowd, but we were seated right away. We opted to watch the chef cook, so we had to share the table with three other couples that we did not know. We ordered a small bowl of a mushroom type soup, salad with ginger dressing, a small 4 oz size salmon fillet, sauteed veggies, and a nice size bowl of chicken fried rice. The water and food (some type of complete entree) were delicious, but the price was ridiculous for such a small piece of salmon. The chef was so cool and entertaining. This place is really expensive, but I would come here again for entertainment purposes as well as expensive quality food.

I come here for lunch usually since it is so close to the office. The food is good and fresh with lots of options. A little expensive for lunch but still worth it. The Japanese clad waitresses sang birthday greetings in English and Japanese. The ice cream desert included in the 5 course meal for the birthday celebrants had a sweet cookie, cherry, whipped cream and a candle added.

Benihana really let us down on New Year's Eve. We placed a pick up order before 2:00 PM and requested a pick up of 7:00 PM. So did everyone else, apparently. When I got there, there were a couple dozen people in what looked to be a line but was really a disarray of upset people waiting for their orders to be finished. I was first told that they were running about 30 minutes behind. 35 minutes later, I was told it would be another 30. Finally, a little after 8:00, I had my food and I was on my way. Of course when I got back to my family they were missing the green teas that were supposed to be included. The food portions were small and didn't come with instructions. For example, I didn't find my mushrooms for the onion soup until after I already drank my soup, and I had to guess at which sauce was for the salad. My "medium rare" filet was more medium well. I could tell the food was rushed. This was not the Benihana meal I was looking forward to. Overall, I was pretty disappointed, especially considering the money I scraped up to have a nice last dinner in 2020 with my family. Having to wait an hour for rushed, overcooked, and overpriced food (and missing some) was just a little extra salt in the wound of 2020. Happy new year.

This is truely one of my favorite places to eat. It comes at a price typically of $100 dollars or more but well worth it for the quality of service, atmosphere, food, and drinks. Even after coming here for 8 years it never gets old for me.

Benihana is a great place to eat, offering many different types of dishes. Whether you're resident or a visitor of San Diego, I would recommend setting a goal to try this place at least once (but you'll probably want to go way more often after that). The servers are really great at what they do and the hibachi chefs have a wonderful sense of humor as well as a finely tuned skill at making their cooking tasks an entertaining experience for onlookers.

  • 2/5 Liquid R. 3 years ago on Google
On a Date Night I cam see this as a great place to go for drinks and a small meal. Hibachi experience is lacking in the showmanship I have experienced in the past and honestly thats what you come here for. I had a Drink from the bar (their Mule) and it was good but not great. You expect more quality for the price and reputation they have. Overall it seemed lazy.

I was craving japanese food so bad that I ordered curbside pick up. I waited about 10 minutes once I got there then they brought the food out. I only live 8 minutes away so as soon as I got home to eat a lot of the food was so cold. I was expecting it to at least be luke warm since I waited in the parking lot for pick up. Price was expensive but I don't mind paying it for good quality food. I really would like to try it again because maybe it was just a bad night but that's a lot of money to waste ($44) for a meal for one person for it to be cold and not enjoyable

  • 5/5 Guillermo M. 3 years ago on Google
Came here with my girlfriend unexpectedly and the parking upon arrival is plenty. Initially we got us the Haiku Colada which tastes like a strawberry slushy for 10 buck. The Blue Ocean lunch bowl drink caught our eye as another person was served it. We got the Rocky’s Choice plate named after Rocky himself, jk no jokes, and it was Pieces of chicken and steak with fried shrimp along soup, salad, ice cream, and another thing for 30$ . Go here, highly recommend folks.

Great experience! I haven't been in a few years so it was a nice welcome back. Our chef helped celebrate our son's 21st birthday and made that very special. We were seated quickly. Food was amazing, drinks strong with fabulous service by Joe.

Sorry to say service was not good. My order was not submitted. My sister food came out she sent it back because her steak was over cooked. They brought it back and was still eating rice. I had to ask for my food. Also, the didn't want to honor my bday certificate. We were in the first high of the pandemic during my bday month so I could not go. They are getting awful with the customer service in Mission Valley location.

Such a great dinner date spot. Me and the hubby enjoyed every bit of it!
