This place is our new favorite not only was the delicious food but the place was clean clean. Our waiter was on point. He was attentive and friendly. Only complaint was that while there was good music playing already (I enjoyed the music playing in the background) a young lady who worked at the restaurant turned on the tv and put music on while she sat on a table and put what it looked like utensils together. The music the lady put was also good music but it made the place noisy and sounded busy not in a good mood way. Let me mention is was breakfast when we went. We will come back for an afternoon cocktail soon.

Margaritas/Drinks were delicious!! I had the jalapeño, strawberry and the mango. Also ordered the Paloma. We ordered the carne fries, one of the burritos and a 2 item combo (enchilada and taco) and i really enjoyed everything! Beans were delicious. I only wish i would have asked for salt for the rice but flavor was good. Will for sure be back as this place is adorable!! Service was fast and our waiter was so attentive.

Best margaritas ever. Their homemade salsa was amazing, bought some to bring home.

Our server was Pablo, he was very courteous and attentive, food was good, they seemed to be short staffed especially for a Sunday, he was the only server I saw taking care of a crowd of about 18 people in 4 different tables! We had the queso fundido plain which was good, I also had the carne en salsa verde, which was tasty, my mom had the pozole and she also like it, everything was very well served and good size portions!

Food was excellant and the drinks were good! 4 stars for the fact that the place was hot so not sure if the AC was working and the drinks were a little pricey! The Service was excellent!

Not only is every member of the staff friendly and super hospitable the food is absolutely amazing. Anytime I visit San Diego I will make it my personal mission to come and eat here

Very good Mexican food. Everything I've had here is great. You get chips and salsa and hot carrots. Sometimes the red salsa is very hot sometimes not but always good either way. We love their refried beans but those are sometimes thicker than I like them, still not enough to not like them. The drinks are good, its a full bar. They have different flavors of margaritas and seem to make a lot of those.

I want to say that it was a very good day here at Casa Don Diego's I'm sure that my family really appreciated the service that was offered to us along with the smiles that lighted up the room. Even though there was a mix up in orders and my mom got a different plate we were still happy with the order. Me and my family have been coming here for some time now and we really appreciate the goods that come from this place and those that work here. Thank you for all that you do here

Breakfast today sucked!! I order chicharrones with scramble eggs!! Jesus! You could not eat that food. It was too hot mucho chile!!! I told the waitter but he only recomnded to add sour cream!!! No way amigo thats is not the way to cook chicharrones!! I should know I' m mexican !!! Los chicharrones NO se preparan asi!!! You lost a customer!!!

I have nothing but good things to say about Casa Don Diego. From the excellent salsas and chips served when you are seated to the fantastic meals served and cocktails, it is all you can ask for in a family style Mexican restaurant. Despite having a sentimental attachment to the place, as my extended family has enjoyed meals here since 1970, I can honestly say it is some of the best traditional Mexican food in Chula Vista. The place has changed owners several times but each has kept the recipes intact since their opening in 1969. Do stop in, you won't regret it.

Low key classic Mexican restaurant. Best enchilada sauce Ive had in a long time. everything served fresh and hot friendly service. Great menu, Sunday brunch looked amazing, we opted for menu items. We'll be back for sure.

Always delicious. One of the best places in my opinion in this area to get some good Mexican food, with a nice vibe to it. Never disappointed in a meal here, very friendly wait staff and love to take anyone visiting as well. One of my favorite dishes is the carnitas, and a lot of places don't seem to get them right. I haven't been there in years, & a friend suggested we have lunch there. There were 8 of us, & we were all were blown away with how great everything was! The food was absolutely delicious, & the service was fantastic! We will definitely be back.

This is my first time inside the restaurant, I had a reservation for 18 ppl and they were short staffed. I made a reservation 2 weeks ago. I've been here for over half an hour and still don't have a drink. That is the first thing, the second thing is that it is so dark in here that you can't even see the menu. Last but not least it is very hot in there and there is no AC or windows open. I might be here waiting for a few hours before I get my food. You are better off going somewhere else until they upgrade this old place and they get better service. This place is super slow. Everyone is getting frustrated and mad from waiting so long. I feel like leaving this place. Some of my guest left, almost everyone ate except for me I was too mad to eat anything anymore.

Been going there for 30 of the 50 years in business. Their food is great, no matter what you order. Had cheese enchiladas and were very cheesy and their sauce is the best. How do you stay in business that long if the food isn’t great? Best margaritas too! Try them!

On vacation in the area and looking for a quick bite to eat. I'm glad we picked Casa Don Diego. The building from the outside leaves a little to be desired, but aren't most of the good unique places that way? The food was very good but what really stood out was the polite and attentive staff. All around a very nice evening and if we find ourselves in Chula Vista again, we'll definitely stop in.

The food and service is great.Enchiladas Del Mar are delicious as well as some hefty Chile Rellenos. Every time I eat there it never let's me down. The flan is INCREDIBLE creamy smooth and flavorful.

I didn't even know it was still open. I loved going there years ago to eat and hang out watch the games. Food is great. Not over done with fluff. Its Straight Mexican food. It's great to go back to my old neighborhood and see this restaurant still there. Definitely going back.

Best Mexican food in the South Bay. Maybe even the city. Me and the Misses have been coming here for quite some time now. They always give us outstanding service. The food is excellent. We love the family style Mexican cooking. With a Mexican food favorite filled extensive menu, and great service. We always leave feeling satisfied. They’re what’s turned into our weekly restaurant spot. I know I always appreciate hearing Casa Don Diego’s being said while running errands. Because I know the experience I’m going to have there, is always going to be top notch. They serve some of the best hot sauce in the city. With fresh made chips, hot from a clean fryer brought to the table, as soon as you sit down. You can’t go wrong having this spot as a fun, family night fave.

Wonderful Family owned restaurant. Owners are great people. This is my husband and my favorite date night place to go. Recently upgraded and remodeled. Outdoor patio also. Sorry. Didn't think about the pics until I was half way thru my caldo tlalpeno 🤦🤣 husband had carne asada salad. Both delicious 😋🤤

Happy Hour is great. Two dollar Bud Light bottles. Plus very good chips and salsa. You even get carrots with your chips, not too hot with a great flavor.

This place always has great food and service. Usually you can take a seat right away, however, if you do have to wait for a table it's never long. We have taken multiple friends here for breakfast and mimosas. (Their enchiladas con huevo are incredible!) They have indoor/outdoor seating. Absolutely of my favorites places to eat. It never disappoints!
