I don’t know what all these other reviews are talking about, our stay at this hotel was aweful. We checked in, and went to our room and the first thing we saw on the bed was three bed bugs(what I assume to be bed bugs, they sure did look like it) crawling on top, as well as the smell of cigarettes . We went immediately to the front desk and got a new room. This room too smelled like cigarettes, as well as mold. The tv was already on like someone had just left. The beds are insanely hard, and the walls are paper thin. I heard everything and I mean everything our neighbors said word for word. They were up ALL night. Safe to say we got aweful sleep. Overall, the experience was sketchy and bad. I will not be staying here again.

Clean venue, and parking lot and surrounding area are well lit at night. Building is old but it seems to have been recently renovated. Rooms were clean and comfy. We had a King size bed. Bathroom were clean. Big screen TV with free cable. Free slow Internet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There's a Mexican restaurant and a 7-Eleven at few feet away. Hotel offers early Continental breakfast 6am-9am. Hotel is in a heavy traffic street so sometimes it's noisy. I felt safe walking outside at night.

Rooms were a bit outdated but had all the basic amenities like a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, iron and TV etc. Shower was high pressure and felt amazing. Bed was a little squeaky but overall comfortable but I would've preferred better a heavier/nicer comforter especially since it was cold. Service was overall acceptable although I had an incident with an extremely rude front desk clerk for asking for a coffee packet. Location is great and worked for my purpose. I was able to quickly get an Uber to get around.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Carpet needs to be cleaned , rooms smell like straight cigarettes took me forever to figure it out because first of all i called reception because i lost my debit card i said “if i book will it be okay if i dont have my card “ they said YES then they said $50 deposit ,so i booked it , when i got there they said that theybneeded my debit card or otherwise i cant stay & no refund was available. When the guy on the phone said i could, they also said it was a $100 deposit when on the phone they said $50 My phone was on 1% & they did not care at all i am a young adult, with no family out there i was just visiting & my car broke down. They didnt want to take my prepaid card but took my boyfriends card # through a picture , i mean seriously what was the difference? What if it wasnt my boyfriends card?? were still rude about it and clearly do not communicate about pricing for some reason. Totally rude as hell never again

The staff was really nice, the desk clerk Zack was helpful, and his assistant Aksway where kind and polite to me and my family. The rooms look fabulous and smelled clean. It's a very convenient place to stay and I felt safe. Next time I want to get out and explore San Diego with my family again, I'm SURE to STAY at SURESTAY! OH, the maintenance guy does a great job keeping up those rooms.. What's his name again.. Oh HECTOR. ALL. IN ALL, THANK YOU SURE STAY for making my family feel comfortably, safe.. Next time I'll take some pictures.

This was the worst place I have ever stayed at. It's in a sketchy part of town. The room we stayed in Room 219 reeked of cigarette smoke though it was supposedly non-smoking plus TV didn't work so we asked to get moved and were told they had no other rooms available and that the maintenance guy would look at the TV. They did provide us with glade to spray the room which didnt help. The message on the TV screen said that there was no service in place but I was told a maintenance man would look into it which never happened. In the morning what appeared to be a homeless person was yelling outside the hotel and was apprehended at the nearby 7-11. We decided it was just too sketchy for our family on top of all the other issues so we asked to check out 2 days sooner. Initially was told I could get a refund 3-5 days later from the person at the front desk but they refused to give me any paperwork confirming this info but said I'd receive an email. The person checking me out even pretended to be checking us out of the place on their computer. I returned my keys and thought that was the end, then 2 days later get a call at 9:30 at night asking if I could fill out their registration form before I check out. I reminded them that I had checked out 2 days before and they said they thought I was still at the hotel and that I had a 3 day reservation. Also another strange incident was having to pay a $9/day "convenience fee" although I paid online through a 3rd party vendor for the entire reservation beforehand. I also never received a receipt for this convenience fee upon check-out. Super sketchy people running this hotel. Would warn anyone wanting to stay here to think twice!!! DON'T DO IT!!! ****************************************** Having read the response from the Mgmt company I am appalled at the lies about my situation as I am neither smoke or drink alcohol and was on vacation with my kids in my hometown. We stayed in that area to be closer to family. We left on our own accord before the 11am checkout and even apologized for cutting our stay short due to the smoke smells bothering my asthma and caused my child to cough all night. Please take this as a warning that the people who run this place aren't reliable or trustworthy. I wonder if they make it hard to stay so you'll leave and then take your money since they can't refund you if you book through a 3rd party. This review is beyond the money I lost I would feel bad for anyone else getting the same treatment. This is the only Google review I've ever written because it was that bad. Read other Google reviews to find this pattern of deceit, because I wish I would have and BOOK AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

The room was good, but it smelled like if someone smoked cigarettes in there. In the bathroom, the shower was leaking water and with the most minimum movement the beds were making noise. In the reception we needed to check out fast but there was nobody in there. At 8:00 AM we didn’t find breakfast in the reception.

I had the best experience! The front desk clerk was friendly and understanding. The room was very nice, clean and smelled fresh.. I Have had hotel stays, where I request a non smoking room..and as you enter can smell the tobaco. Thank you!!

WORST PLACE EVER. The room was dirty… floors were sticky, awful smell, sheets had hair on them, shower was disgusting. We were in the room for maybe 10 minutes and decided we did not want to stay there. I went to the front desk to request to cancel the room and refund the payment. The lady at the front desk had an attitude and texted the property manager to which he told her no because I “moved the sheets”. I then asked to be moved to a different room that was clean and was denied a clean room because again I “moved the sheets”. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I've stayed at a lot of Best Western hotels due to work. " Worst ShureStay Best Western Ever!" Staff is even the worst. I can't believe it's a Best Western.. and and to the Management. : This review IS pertaining to your property on the 700 Block In Chula Vista California. and is the worst Best Western ever. And I've probably stayed at almost 100 different properties by Best Western hotels . as a matter of fact your property charged me for arriving Early! I'm a platinum Rewards member I never have been charged anywhere else .

A complete scam I booked online, payed ahead of time and because my middle name was written out on my ID and my credit card only had my middle initial he refused to pay the deposit with the card. They took my 170 dollars and he laughed about it making jokes saying his name starts with a C too.

Pros: excellent motel staff - who are all doing a great job. The rooms have very nice large TVs. My room was kept very clean for my entire stay. They have installed security cameras. Police make rounds to the parking lot each morning. The security and safety are being actively managed. Cons: a few noisy motel guests. mattresses are hard. This is not a hotel, it's a motel. Light leaks around the room door. Every time I turned on my TV it was at max volume and I had to turn it down. There was a severely dirty chair in my room, it should go to the dumpster. There was a roach trap underneath the sink, but I never did see a roach. Pest control is being actively managed.

Update on my last comment about my stay. It’s funny because even the online booking as you called it a third part was willing to give me a refund but you’re hotel claimed nothing was wrong with you’re toon so I’m guessing you didn’t see the upload picture here I will kindly provide them again when both rooms smell like meth and have left over trash from the last guest in it I wouldn’t waist another minute in the hotel you can’t go above, and beyond when you’re cleaning people can’t even clean a room correctly and was already kind of sketched out that they wouldn’t allow me to put my deposit on a card they wanted to cash therefore with rooms already being trashed and smelt like drugs they could have easily tried pointing fingers to the new guest an kept my deposit definitely a fishy place to stay

The first 2 rooms strongly smelled like cigarette smoke. All management need to do is shampoo the carpet to get the smell. Finally got a room that was supposedly their nicest. The AC didn't work, multiple lights were dead and the noise level constantly woke my partner and I up. To top it off there was a cockroach hanging out to next the sink the morning of our first and last night here.

Our room was clean and comfortable. Nice big flat screen TV. Breakfast was good. Scrambled eggs and link sausages and yogurt and toast. Apple and orange juices. Front desk staff was friendly.

Sketchy area with sketchy rooms. Cable cut off during stay and getting 2nd room key took forever. Good thing taco food next door if you get hungry and bar not to far.

Rooms were clean & spacious. Good bed & amenities. Didn’t clean our room during our 2 night stay which is unfortunate. Quite noisy as well as there is a car wash across the street. Didn’t try the breakfast.

I've appreciated the help I've received here from both guests and the employees. I'll never go back to the last place I stayed at 70 Broadway. All of the machines for ice where broken. This place is ten times clearer. One thing I did notice, is that whoever does the repairs... That person is NOT doing their job.

For the money paid, it isn't terrible but not my cup of tea. The local area is best described as commercial. There is a carwash across the street. A strip mall across the parking lot. The biggest distraction is that it is located on a main thorough fare. Lots of traffic noise. Rooms are very clean and smell of Pinesol. At least they are trying to make a sanitary environment. There are signs of age mostly in the bathroom area. I noticed peeling paint and mold around the top of the shower enclosure. The heater/AC unit interferes with the blackout drapes. When it blows, it fills the curtains and heats or cools the window. I attached a picture. Checking in and out was easy. I didn't partake of the free breakfast. A warmer filled with scrambled eggs and brown & serve sausage links wasn't appealing. Breads, muffins, cold cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee rounded out the menu. If I return, it would be for the price only and I would be alone.

I absolutely loved this place! I stayed with my boyfriend and he hasn't slept that good in months. It was quiet and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place.

This hotel was okay. Nothing special at all. But for the amount of money I spent for this room. Was disappointed in the over charge and the air conditioning had a bit of mold I tripped over the missing transition piece that was missing from the bedroom to the bathroom. The electrical outlets only 2 worked the shower had good pressure but the ceiling looked like was going to cave in and thr beds were hard on your back.

  • 1/5 Claude H. 1 year ago on Google
First of all I requested an ADA room, they gave it away to someone else. They blamed it on the booking site. The hotel was so so. The carpet was filthy, when you would walk from the bed to the bathroom your feet felt dirty, when I rinsed them off in the shower the water was black and brown! So no walking around the room in bare feet. Next the bathroom wall had small blood spots all over the area of the tissue holder ( GROSS ). Then the next disgusting thing was dried boogers on the bathroom wall. I would never stay here again. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the internet, they are not accurate. Poor management, no accountability, no effort to fix things.

Nice place to stay. Decent amount of parking, the rooms are clean. Some things in the rooms should be updated/renovated. I stayed in a double Queen and the chair/ottoman had weird stains on it. The restroom door was also pretty water damaged /warped. It’s mostly just aesthetic things, but functionally perfect. The bed was a bit firm but comfortable, and each bed has 4 pillows which was nice. I would stay here again if I’m in the area

This property offered an upscale bathroom from the norm; a tiled, walk in shower. I also appreciated the recessed ceiling lights. I enjoyed the hot breakfast which is not usual for a SureStay.

Had an amazing experience everything was close by. And the guy in the front desk really made sure to give me a room that didn’t smell horribly of smoke( I have asthma ). He definitely went out of his way to make sure my stay was pleasant. Will definitely recommend and come back.

Eh. The staff wasn't very friendly, the elevator is sketchy as can be, but the room WAS clean! they were still renovating and it was very obvious. There were water stain patch work marks on the ceiling. Looks like they only replaced some things. But on a crunch, it works!

Highly recommended ... Office Staff Zack & Razu are professional, knowledgeable, patient and kind. They go above and beyond to accommodate request guest may have in every way possible. New Guy HARRY is awesome his professionalism is impressive, even tho he's a young man he has great work ethic, handles stressful situations well , his professional manner stays intact. All the gentlemen/staff in check in office are pleasant and professional always a breeze to check in. Rooms have proper hygiene maids definitely include deep cleaning and pay attention to detail, as u walk in there's always a clean fresh pleasant scent no trace of musty smells left behind. Price very reasonable, this is a all around well run establishment. It's always a pleasant experience to do business. Definitely worth every penny. If u need a room in Chula Vista, Sure Stay plus on Broadway is the best choice!! :)

The room assigned to us initially was not ready. The second room (non smoking) stank of smoke. It was old and the carpet was filthy. The "grab and go" breakfast was not great - hard boiled eggs, a pastry, a tube of yogurt, snack bar and orange. The staff were quite polite and helped us mail a letter and stored our luggage for a few hours. However, they were not very helpful in that they would not allow us to use the dining room table and chairs nor would they provide a couple of hours late check out when the rooms were clearly available. Will not be returning.

My room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice and accommodating of my requests. The taco place right next door is spectacular and inexpensive, so there's good food nearby. If I need to stay in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

if you would like the short story, do not stay here!If I could give zero Stars I would! The motel was very run down and dirty. We checked in in the evening before we could see the state of what the hotel looked like. In our room that we paid $312 for two bath towels one hand towel and one washcloth. No hair dryer! Bed was quite uncomfortable and you could tell that it had been there for many many years. This is a very old 1960s hotel with somewhat of a gate around the rooms to protect from who knows what! The drapes in the room were not long enough to be closed all the way as they sat right on top of the air conditioner which kept blowing them open. Parking fills up quickly and we wondered if it was not a good neighborhood. Our backs were against the wall as it seemed like most 200 to $300 hotels were sold out within San Diego Are only other options were $600 and up which we could not afford. Had to argue with the desk clerk up front to see if I could get someone if a refund but they said no! There is absolutely no customer service here and they could care less about you except to take your money. The breakfast is what I call a throw and go in a bag. A breakfast burrito one stale pastry one orange and one granola bar and that was the extent of their offerings for breakfast! Stay far far far away and do not stay here!

We stayed here while training at the San Diego Circus Center, and when we booked and arrived, didn't have super high expectations, but the rooms and customer service exceeded expectations and it's extremely convenient for a group of hungry athletes who need nourishment, its right next to an AMAZING taco shop. I'd come back. It's a great spot for our needs.

I didn't even stay. The original place I was staying had their computer systems go down and didn't have our reservation or any rooms left. Happened to 5 of us in the lobby so I called this place. The owner said he had rooms and the price of the rooms. I showed up 2 minutes later to check in and he said with a scam artist smile " I just now raised the price $50." When I told him I just talked to you on the phone 2 minutes ago he said he didn't care it's his buisness. Well he didn't get my buisness that night. I should have read the reviews 1st before even calling.

This was a great stay. I definitely see why they have a higher rating. Professional and personable staff. Comfortable and clean room. Would definitely stay again.

I will give it 4 stars, but really more like with a caveat. It was clean and in a really good location. The price was good as well. I think it could do with a different outside look. Maybe it was me.

  • 2/5 Vin S. 2 years ago on Google
It's a decent place to stay, but not great. Breakfast sucks, got a frozen burrito for breakfast and only lasts till 9am. Didn't even offer a non cooked breakfast bag when I got there at 9:15. Also, no reciept for room was offered.
