As soon as I got there I knew it was sketchy due to the location. We entered our room and it smelled like straight up chemicals. We looked around and immediately decided to leave. The bathroom tub was yellow and black. The toilet had stains. The windows had flies and looked disgusting. The floors were filthy as if there was mold everywhere. I was so uncomfortable and was definitely not staying with my baby there. We head back into our car with all our luggage, I get to the front desk and was told only managers can issue and refund and that it is possible to do so on Monday. Earlier today I called the hotel at least 5 times and finally got someone to answer. The manager proceeds to tell me I can’t get a refund BECAUSE I CANCELLED LESS THAN 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. I explained to him I did check in and explained all the issues with my room and he still said a refund was not possible. I just hung up on him and called Expedia where I booked the room. The man was very helpful and decided to process me a refund and a coupon for my next trip because the hotel failed to answer his calls and explain why the refund “wasn’t possible:” nastiest hotel I ever came across.

This is my first review I’ve ever wrote for any business. This place is a complete dumpster, the manager in the front named Sam is a complete assshole. Booked for 12 nights and only refunded me for 10 nights and I only stayed for one night. Windows blinds are destroyed, bathroom is gross. Trust me spend a little more and go else where. Feels like a crack house

Red Roof Plus is one of the most decent hotels in this area. The rooms are clean, large and the beds are comfortable. The housekeeping staff go above and beyond to help you. Sam The manager is very professional and treats you with dignity and respect and has a good sense of humor! He has a really great team of employees working for him. Sam, Maggie, Prince and Ken thank you!

i literally cannot stress enough the terrible experience I had here. From a leak in the bathroom and the staff not wanting to change me rooms to them promising to refund me 50% of my stay but never refunded me anything. I stayed here for surgery recovery for 2 days and all i asked was for extra pillows and i was denied that. the way management handled everything was so terrible i stayed here 11/21.Corporate was no help either. dont waist your money or time here.

So I booked a room online and paid for it with my card, however when my boyfriend arrived to check in they couldn't find it. So he paid for the room again out of his pocket. When I got there and explained to him I had already paid for the room we went to the office and spoke to the gentleman at the front desk. He assured me that I would have my money back within 5 days max. As of today it's been 9 days, I've sent two emails to corporate, and have called every number I could find on their website I have yet to speak to a live person, get a response from any message I left, and there's no sign of my money being returned. The motel was okay, but the other problems were more than enough that I will never stay it a red roof again!

I would absolutely never stay at this hotel ever again. I am a business traveler and do a fair amount of travel for personal reasons. While this hotel appears to have updated rooms when I checked in my floor and my room was completely dirty so much so that I would never even walk barefoot on it. The door to my room left me feeling unsafe unsafe as it did not fully close to the door jam. There were many cracks in the ceramic tile in the bathroom area and there were rust spots in the tub so much so that I had to watch where I placed my feet while bathing. I'm so glad I bought lysol with me to disinfectant everything. I could not believe how dirty my cleaned room was. While this hotel is in a relatively busy a relatively busy area I was captivated by the price and and made a decision to stay here versus somewhere else where I know it would have been clean and I would have felt safe.. It's important to know that this is an extended stay type of hotel and there were people crowding around my door door when I left my hotel room. Instead of not taking anything with me when I left the room I packed up key things in the event that any of my items were stolen from my room because the front door was not as secure.

Its just one star motel. I dont know how did they get 3 stars on booking.com. Dirty furniture, rust in some areas. At 7am somebody was continiously kikng my door and try to open it even when I said stop. Paid a 100$ and but I think it should not cost more than 50$. Thank you for clean bed at least.

Dirty and loud. Didn't get any sleep there was so much going on outside; people slamming doors, stomping, banging, and yelling. The vent was falling off and sprinklers and been messed with. Also had multiple people knock on the door in the middle of the night and calling the room. I did not feel safe.

I paid in cash around 11pm...got to our room and there were cigarette burns covering the carpet, no air conditioner, big old box style tv, gang symbols on the nightstand and inside the drawer, and the bathroom was disgusting! We didn't even sit down, I went straight back to the office and demanded a refund. I made a scene in front of other unsuspecting travelers and he gave me my money and said to leave immediately. No problem dude!! It was the nastiest place I've ever been and I've traveled the entire country. Oh, and as we were leaving, 2 cops with their lights flashing showed up 😮 we drove the 20 some miles back to San Diego. Paul McCartney was in town so everything was booked...we finally found a room. I would have slept in my rental car before staying at Chula Vista!! Zero stars!

Horrible hotel, whole lot of weird activity going on. smell is terrible enough. You get penetrated with one nights stay. We were assigned here by our apartment property. we left immediately the next day. definitely not a place to stay with your children. It’s nothing like the photos inside. Bathroom has weed smell coming thru the vents. Homeless people walking the parking lot, knocking on your doors. I brought it to office attention and he mentioned that person lived there when he looked like a homeless asking to let him sleep in our room. Can’t expect more with the high homeless rate in the area. Sheets and throws are stinky too. Can’t possibly give this hotel a rate.

It is cheap, you get what you paid for affordable price. I would not recommend to family with kids. We didn’t feel safe constant fighting in the middle of the night. When we enter the room it smell like smoke. Room look clean, pool looked dirty.

I’m from Portland and I just moved here and had to stay on a hotel for a week until my apartment was ready and this is by far the nicest room I’ve been. The price is great and everything in the room is upgraded and very clean. The bed is soft and comfy.

We stayed there from Sunday thru Friday ND the front desk clerk wasn't very friendly. The 1st day of maid service was good. But the next day was just terrible. I told the maid I only needed clean towels ND to please leave them on the bed. But she clearly went all the way into our room ( we had a brand new roll of toilet tissue ) but we didn't get clean towels ND there was some crumbs on the entry way to our room... It looked toast crumbs. We didn't eat in our room yet. And apon checking out there was so many cops near the elevator that we could barely get on the elevator!!

Do not stay here unless you enjoy the smell of constant weed, barking dogs (all night), and homeless encampment under stair cases! I think the people in the room next to us lived here (they had their own doormat). We requested a handicap room, actually reserved the one with the roll in shower online, upon check in it was unavailable. Only 4 ADA rooms (none available), needed bars for toilet area. Had no choice but to stay since being picked up here for a medical procedure. All handicap parking full with cars with no placards, was told by front desk that they didn't have enough parking and one was his car. Couldn't unload into wheelchair from a regular spot. Website advertises breakfast included, there is no breakfast! Only coffee

Highly recommended ... Office Staff sam are professional, knowledgeable, patient and kind. They go above and beyond to accommodate request guest may have in every way possible. New Guy prince is awesome his professionalism is impressive, even tho he's a young man he has great work ethic, handles stressful situations well , his professional manner stays intact. All the gentlemen/staff in check in office are pleasant and professional always a breeze to check in. Rooms have proper hygiene maids definitely include deep cleaning and pay attention to detail, as u walk in there's always a clean fresh pleasant scent no trace of musty smells left behind. Price very reasonable, this is a all around well run establishment. It's always a pleasant experience to do business. Definitely worth every penny. If u need a room in Chula Vista, Sure redroof inn on Broadway is the best choice!! :)

We had an extended stay of 28 days. We had our dog with us. The room was clean and quiet. The staff met all of our needs without being intrusive. The wifi was excellent. I would definitely recommend Red Roof inn.

Loud music and much thumping noise from the ceiling. We were at 2nd floor. Looks renovated and feels clean nice sized room. Deducting two stars because of the noise. Lots of cameras and bright lights in the parking lot which tells you the area is not safe but the cameras provide comfort against these unsafe situations. The bright lights are turned off around 5am or so even before there is daylight to save energy and costs which I dislike. South Asians hotel operator tend to save money above safety and this is one fine example.

We stayed here while training at the San Diego Circus Center, and when we booked and arrived, didn't have super high expectations, but the rooms and customer service exceeded expectations and it's extremely convenient for a group of hungry athletes who need nourishment, its right next to an AMAZING local restaurant. I'd come back. It's a great spot for our needs.

Horrible. This place is not family friendly at all. We stayed there 5 nights and let me tell you, if I had the funds I would have relocated somewhere else. The long term residence at this place make the guest feels very uneasy. Drug deals are happening in the parking lot and when those aren't going down there is someone screaming at the hotel of their lungs. After reading reviews of possessions getting stolen we left nothing in the room while we were gone. Speaking of the rooms the one I stayed in someone has decided to leave their graffiti on the one piece of art in the room, they stole the coffee pot but left the coffee marker, and someone stole the plate within the microwave to place food on. In the room that my friends stayed in there burn marks on the dresser. You can tell the money going through this hotel is going straight into someone's pockets rather than the upkeep. If you have to stay here bring your own cleaning supplies. Housekeeping does nothing but take out your trash and make your bed. The section of carpet in the rooms were so dirty.

The rooms are much better than the local motels nearby, although at a higher price. but better because less noise outside the room with amenities that other motels doesn't give nearby, such as a room with a refrigerator and microwave. a dresser, a table with lamp and a carpet between the two beds. I would love to visit again. I would recommend any day.

We didn't actually get a room here, we were visiting my cousin. This hotel is part of a homeless program. The parking lot was clean, there wasn't alot of people hanging out at night. The rooms were big and roomy. It was quite outside. The cable messed up a few times. The outside looks a bit run down, but its an old hotel. The rooms we're a little updated. I would stay here if necessary, it's a bit far as we live in East County and this hotel is located in Chula Vista.

I bought a non smoking room though Expedia, when I arrived at the hotel, they checked me into a smoking room with a very strong cigarette smell, I requested a transfer to a different room but they were sold out so I cancelled my stay, when Expedia requested a refund they denied it, be aware of this thieves.

I stayed at this location on March 12th to the 13th. Upon check out I missed my alarm so I called the front desk for a late check out. They gave me an extra hour, no problem. I left and thought that was it. Later after reviewing my bank acct did I realize that the $50.00 deposit was still being held. I called the hotel and they said because I checked out late, that they kept my $50.00 deposit. I asked for their written policy and they couldn't come up with one. They are thieves and if you look at other reviews I am not the only one they have stolen from. Never come back to stay!
