Avoid this place at all costs. In addition to making us wait almost 2 hours (I was with my fiancée), every single person that treated him was completely unprofessional and totally incompetent. Two people tried and weren’t able to complete a simple blood draw and the nurse decided to use this time to promote her own side hustle for holistic health rather than give my partner the care he needed. I have never had such a terrible urgent care experience.

On April 15th, 2023, I visited AFC Urgent Care in Mission Valley just before it opened at 8am. Around 7:55am I waited in front of the main entrance along with 3 other patients. The front waiting room lights were still off and there was no sign noticeable or anyone present inside… At 8:03 am I called their Point Loma location letting them know their Mission Valley location was not open yet. They explained they “did not know why.” So I called this location’s business phone number to see if there was an automated message notifying patients of this office being closed today… THERE WAS NO MESSAGE STATING THEY WERE CLOSED on April 15th, 2023. I was the only individual of those 4 of us waiting outside, who finally noticed this little white sign among signs on their front door… WHY NOT PRINT IT ON YELLOW OR RED PAPER SO IT STANDS OUT??!! “Closed due to Staff Provider Shortage.” AFC Is NOT ALWAYS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK! …. ***YOU LOST A LOT OF BUSINESS THAT DAY AFC!!*** FYI, Your other Nearby Locations like the Clairemont Mesa location, when I tried calling them to check first if they were open, NOBODY ANSWERED THE PHONE when wanting to speak to an employee. Your other locations were not an option for me!

Everyone was so friendly, especially the x-ray technician Lalo! I felt really comfortable with the level of care I was getting and the great conversations I was having with the staff while I waited. I also really liked that they text you when they are ready to see you. It was pretty packed that day and it was nice to wait in my car rather than in a waiting room. All in all, a great experience!

They are very organized and great in taking care of the patients. I have taken my Mom there couple of times and went there for myself today. They were good at all the times. Thanks to their staff and doctors.

My 80 year old husband went there and had a positive COVID test. I questioned the doctor about why she was not giving him the prescription for Paxlovid . She said he didn’t need it because he was otherwise healthy. When he got worse I took him to another facility who promptly gave him the prescription but he had lost 2 1/2 days of early treatment. He is 80! I don’t know what she was thinking!

Roll over and die before coming here. I called in advance to see what the wait time was and if I can put my name down and go home since I live across the street. They told me 2 hours and that that is fine they can call me when I’m ready. There’s not that many Patients in there but I understand some can take longer than others. I have a fever, asthma issues and possibly strep throat and can barely stand let alone sit in a the hot waiting room. I get a call about an hour later telling me to rush over and that they are ready for me and get there about 3 min after the call. I wait for almost and hour an half in the waiting room before getting up and asking them why they bothered to call me if I have to sit here for another hour and a half. They tell me they have no idea how much longer and that I’m still the next in line. I wait outside and end up just doing a Teledoc appoint ment and leave. They call me 3 1/2 hours from when I first signed up saying that they’re ready for me. This is a joke.

Come in with an ear infection a week ago. Get seen and get a prescription without a problem. Call back this morning because my condition hasn't improved. I ask to talk to a provider about it. I'm told the provider is in the room and I'm told it won't be the same provider anyway and they'll want to do their own work up. I say okay and then the woman just hangs up the phone. If you might need follow up care this place doesnt seem to care. I should add the original visit was great. They got me in quickly and prescribed me medication quickly. Who hangs up on people though? EDIT: I got a call from the quality manager. I called back and waited on hold for about 30 minutes and had to hang up. Called back later and got to speak with her. She basically told me they would work on it. My honest opinion is they care about their patients but might have more work than they have staff. She was nice and seemed to care. Take it for what it is I guess.

2 hour + wait for a rapid covid test. Maybe don’t come here if you want a “rapid” test at this time? (12/22/21) The front desk person told me an hour wait but that turned into 75 minutes and now I’m in a private clinic room for another 30. Please someone tell me it’s almost over. Of course the staff is reasonably stiff - they see so many people all day, and we’re all sick and in kinda a bad mood. Good news: the doctor who saw me prescribed antibiotics I didn’t know I needed and I think have made a huge difference in my cough and horrible cold. So it took forever but then honestly Im so grateful. I got home that night and the news was blasting that 2-4 hour waits for covid tests are happening all over the country and San Diego in particular. Setting better expectations would have been very helpful.

Pros: Friendly and professional staff, very clean facility. The nurses are fantastic, and answered all my questions. A few people in the waiting room were coughing, and they offer a service where they call you when your appointment is ready. Overall fantastic front-of-house service. Cons: I’ve been to this site many times before for back spasms. They’ve always been helpful and answered all my questions. But this time, I met with a provider who was rather rude. He wanted to give me an injectable NSAID I’d never had before. I had a few questions, and he cut me off by saying, “Look, if it’s going to be a discussion like this, then I’m not going to give it to you.” I was just asking about side effects and drug interactions. Then I was prescribed a dosage of medication far below what I had told the provider has helped me in the past (which should be in their medical record). I’ve never had this type of problem in the past with their providers, but this one left a very bad impression.

They denied me care because my roommate assaulted me. Had valid insurance compatible with the company, had my ID, and they denied me because I'm an "assault victim". I was told the owner doesn't give medical care to victims, that it's a personal policy. If I didn't have a ride, I would have wasted 4+ hours on public transit to get here and then to another hospital/urgent care. I have been to the Santee location and was a previous patient and now wish I supported a different company. Sharp is trash, but it's better than this, at least they don't deny aid to assault victims. If I could rate this company -5, I would.

Came here after almost slicing my finger off. I couldn't wait for the ER so I just went here because it's the first one I saw while driving with one hand on the steering wheel and the other outside the car window raised above the roof. I got here and let them know (and showed them) what was going on with my finger. They promptly cleaned and dressed the wound after a short wait in the lobby. I guess I got lucky that day. There was this young lady that helped me out. She was nice and friendly. I think her name was Natalie or Natasha or something. It was a really long name. But she gave me a good impression. If I chop another finger off, I know who I'll be going to. Thank you AFC!

Alex and Vanessa were really nice and efficient in their work. Alex was good to make me feel comfortable. Vanessa even though it was her first time in the clinic, she was able to do a great work and made me feel calm through the clean up after the procedure. I couldn't remember the doctor who helped me but she did a great job stitching up my hand efficiently and quickly.

The website indicates you can pre register for an appointment time... but apparently it's not an appointment time. I waited 2 hours for my appointment time instead of walking right when they open, only to be told there were 5 people ahead of me and I would need to wait another 2 hours. I left and went to Scripps and was getting my vitals checked in 15 minutes.

Went in to get Covid testing, which did not require any appointment which was great. Also they close at 8pm which accommodated my work schedule. The staff was super friendly. They told me the wait time would be 3 hours since it was during the week Covid outbreaks were on the rise. I said okay, as long as I can get tested today. Took half the time they initially said to see a provider and get tested. My insurance is Blue Shield of California which they accepted. Would definitely recommend them.

Came in at 8:45AM to put my name down and had to wait about an hour and a half for care which wasn't as quick as I'd hoped but better than emergency care at a hospital. However, the staff were caring, competent, and helpful. The health assistant had great bedside manner, was respectful, and lifted my spirits. The acting doctor when I was seen gave me a very realistic diagnosis in terms that made sense to me and answered nearly all the questions I could have had before I asked. Despite the wait, it was overall a positive experience compared to the health care I've received in the past.

Went to this Urgent care a handful of times while we lived in the area. It's still relatively new, very clean, and never busy. Always got my family in very quickly. They have an xray machine in office. Plenty of parking. Would recommend to anyone.

I had the need to visit the AFC in Mission Valley last week. When I called The woman that answered the line identified her self as Liz. She was cheerful and warm and gave me an instant feeling of comfort. When I went to AFC she took great care in getting me registered. As I waited I was amazed at her ability to answer phone call after phone call, several at one time, and also take care of a room FULL of patients. She never skipped a beat being cheerful and friendly with each and every person she interacted with. She is amazing and AFC is very fortunate to have her!

How revealing for them to show that you mean absolutely nothing to the owner and staff here other than you are just money to them. As far as the reason you're here, basically I was told F.U. bc even though I was told earlier in a phone conversation that I can walk in up till 8pm, I was told differently when I actually arrived. Guy says, "we've already made our "quota" for the day" ($$$)!! Wow, guy at the desk...Satan will love you when you die. Go ahead owner, sell your soul for profit instead of help people with real problems. I'll go somewhere else where I get real care and you'll still have sold your soul for profit and damnation!!

After calling and seeing that they were opened I head to the location after more than 20 mins of driving to have the front desk say they aren’t taking any more patients for today. Also, the online website to pre-register doesn’t even work even though I was told on the phone I can do that before heading there. Horrible service.

I went to the clinic as a walk in for a Covid test. The wait time was very reasonable and no more than 30 minutes (5 stars for wait time). The front desk staff was very professional and quite knowledgeable with insurance (staff also get a 5 star). The lab tests were done immediately and conveniently inside the same examination room. The lab technician was very professional and proficient (5 stars for the technician). I was then told that the test results will not be ready for another 10 days (this is completely useless for contact tracing)! In the meanwhile, within the past week three of my friends had had same Covid tests done elsewhere with their results available to them within 1-3 days max! Having read others reviews of this clinic, it appears that this is not a new issue with this AFC clinic! If this was my clinic, I would have switched the laboratory I was working with after the first complaint as opposed to keep responding to the Patients complains With “the lab we are working with is backed up”! Obviously there are many other labs that are still turning in results within a reasonable (and meaningful) time to be able to do a contact tracing if the tests turn out to be positive!

This is the second time at this AFC with my daughter- and I had to write this review after such a positive experience! Yes we had to wait a little although in the morning but Team is so nice and the PA is so amazing with kids, taking the time to answer all our questions and very compassionate r - she was great while doing the strep test herself twice I really felt like she cared. Thank you!

Wait time was a little long. Although they let you leave to do whatever while you wait for a text to come in when they're ready for you. However after the initial wait I was waiting for another 45 min. Chalk it up to being understaffed. The doctor gal was very professional. Excellent understanding of the issue and did exactly what they are supposed to. Get you patched up good long enough to get in to see a primary physician. They definitely need help for that doctor. She must really work hard there

My first time going. Before I went I read the reviews and you should expect to be seen within 2hrs.. you don't have to wait in the waiting room, you can get up and go somewhere, hang in your car or whatever, until they call or text you when they're ready to see you. Overall I got what I came there for. Just expect to be waiting quite some time..

  • 5/5 Zach S. 6 months ago on Google
Staff were friendly. Wait time was reasonable for a weekend walk-in (about an hour) and was pretty close to the staff’s estimate. You can wait in your car or come back when they text you. Paperwork can all be done on your phone. They seem a little understaffed in the back with actual medical team, but the PA who saw me was very helpful and clearly working hard to see everyone. Overall I’d come back as needed, was in and out in about 2 hours total (including wait time).

  • 2/5 KaReN 6 months ago on Google
They wasted our time here. The website says they can do blood draws. However, the doctor we saw today said they don’t do that. Then she said it’s best we go with our PCP. What’s the point of coming then? The only good thing about this place is you can sign in and leave and you’ll be called or texted to come back at a later time. It keeps you from waiting there for a long time.

they got me in right away and the accepted my insurance but they told me that since I was dealing with an issue that have been going on for a while and couldn't get to a regular physician I had to push them to examine me. but once I did that the examined me and did the x-rays and the tests I needed. the guy at the desk also let me wait inside at closing time for my Uber.

The front office ladies and medical assistant were so kind, helpful and made this visit positive from beginning! Then, I was seen by NP Erika Trujillo....where do I start! First, listened to me had a plan and gave great advice, explained why for all the meds prescribed. I now know, I will be on the road to getting better. After sitting at home with my own GP not helping me. I wish Erika could be my GP. Outstanding Care!!! I haven't been to Urgent Care in over 20 years....I got better care here than my primary care doctor. Thank you so much! Oh, and last I'm less than a half a mile from this office. I can go on and on how happy I am with this office service from beginning to end!!!

Everyone here was wonderful. I was having a horrible day, had been to several other places, and no one would see me for my eye infection because I was just getting over COVID. BUT... Everyone at this location was amazing, from the reception to the Dr... they even humanely trapped a spider and let him go outside while I was there 🕷🙃 I would definitely recommend!

Went for urgent care for a cough since it’s a VA covered clinic. Had to wait 3 hours for care as a walk in. Then I was prescribed medication and was sent to a NON COVERED PHARMACY ($100 out of pocket). How are you a VA Covered urgent care and send a veteran to a non covered pharmacy?!

  • 5/5 Sarah L. 1 year ago on Google
This is a really nice urgent care. Most of them have you wait forever in the office for a physician, then the physician is super rushed with you and then they still make you wait forever to check out. This place is not like that. They quote accurate wait times, are thorough and then check you out immediately.

Although it's a nice day outside, there is no air circulation or fan or air conditioning on. Patients are required to wear a mask, and I get that, but it's so stuffy and uncomfortable to such an extreme that it is NOT acceptable. Get it together. Both employees and patients should not be locked inside this place with no circulation whatsoever. Way to breed germs and make sick people uncomfortable.

If you're looking for a doctor to see you shortly after you arrive, and will get you out the door within the hour, then this is the place. Went in for a lancing, was out and bandaged up so quickly. Great bedside manners. Knowledgeable staff. Fast and efficient. They (currently) accept Medi-Cal Blue Shield. Idk what others.

Polite staff, and visit was pleasant. However, I’m on day 11 of waiting for my COVID results... I have had friends who were tested after me and got there results back in 3 days from a different clinic. Wouldn’t recommend going there if you’re in need of a COVID-19 test.

  • 3/5 Mary S. 3 years ago on Google
Pros: Hours of availability, customer service (friendly), anyone qualifies for a Covid test! Location. Immediate results if you go on a weekday. Cons: 3 1/2 hours wait for a Covid test When told it would be two! Inefficient filling out of information prolonged process. Would consider rev Recommend but with reservations.

  • 1/5 Kyler K. 3 years ago on Google
Me and half a dozen other patients have been waiting for 2+ hours. People who are doing walk in covid tests are being seen before us. They keep saying 4 more people in front of you yet they aren't calling anyone back so it's not reassuring at all. I have seen multiple people getting tested for covid walk in without masks and they are not being forced to social distance. The lady next to me has asked 3 times when she will be seen and they keep saying 5 minutes and after 20 minutes she has to ask again. It's rediculous either you only want to test covid patients or you should genuinely do a first come first serve bases. Why make others wait just because they aren't here for a covid test? I suggest going to an urgent care with no covid testing or going later in the day when they aren't doing covid testing.

Happened yesterday. Called the nurse line because I felt winded after a few hours of no improvement. She told me I could go to Urgent Care or the ER. I chose urgent because hey, I didn't think it was an emergency. Arrived and there were lots of people waiting in chairs but no one standing in line. As long as my breathing didn't get worse, I could wait. The receptionist took 3 phones calls: questions about traveling, the rapid test and another on waiting times (apparently 3-4 hrs). When she wasn't on call, she was chit chatting with her co-worker about some other co-worker and her schedule.....? After she called a patient who was waiting, I was upset. This girl hadn't even ACKNOWLEDGED me. No hello or it will be a moment so take a seat. Didn't glance above her computer. If I accidentally cut someone, then don't be passive aggressive and tell me. Eventually went over to her co-worker and told her about my breathing and if I should just go to the ER. Very sarcastically said "Uh, yeahhh?", rolling her eyes. The receptionist eavesdrops, finally wanting to listen to what I had to say and said "yes, definitely". Went to Scripps ER, got checked in and got my vitals taken right away. Doctor was surprised and laughed saying "They didn't even take your vitals? Of course they didn't" and shook her head. Was given a beta blocker and was cleared to go home after 6 hours. If you have something that's actually urgent, go to the ER. This is a first aid clinic. I didn't know what to expect when I went in but it wasn't that. Bad day? Who knows, but first and only time I'll be here.

Would not recommend coming here for Covid test, it takes up to 12 days to receive results. I was told up to 5 days originally but was hoping to receive earlier. Some friends who did the test at other clinics days after me received the result and I’m still waiting for it, it’s been 8 days so far. we were all exposed to same friend during the week and everyone received results except me. 12 days is almost 14 days of quarantine...

This place is a total joke. When i went there they couldnt figure out my insurance( appears they havent had enough training) so they didnt charge me a copay...a month later i got a charge for a copay and this was right at the beginning of the pandemic. AFC had waived the copay for a friend of mine due to financial hardship but refused to do the same( perhaps because of my ethnicity vs hers) We arranged a payment to come out on a specific day snd they were supposed to call me that day before processing it...nobody ever called me...they are claiming my due date was june but they gave me an "extension" when my due date was actually JULY....even if it was due in june and they have me a extension why didnt someone call me and tell me about that? Now im getting different amounts of what is due vs the original time and i am rather irritated.... NOT to mention the doctor i saw asked me 3 questions and diagnosed me based on those answers and never did any real tests on me....dont come here!

I was taken back to a room in a short amount of time. The staff were very attentive to my pain needs. I had an xray done. Very nice that they can take an xray right there.

My wife was here for over 4 hours to be seen. They told her she was next in line multiple times. No management present and staff are doing their best to figure it out. This place has a complete lack of structure and organization which is likely a reflection of their upper management. If you need a COVID test no problem but if you have any type of medical issue I would avoid this place at all cost! They are running their business to push out covid tests and could care less about general patients.

Fantastic service. Really appreciated how gentle the Doctors were with me. As well as how amazing and kind the front desk staff were. Highly recommend this location. Thank you again!

I was completely impressed with the speed of the care and the flow of the office. None Better! I will only use this facility for my urgent medical needs. Dr. Keeler was an absolute joy. Especially with the care I need that Sunday morning. It is refreshing to see an urgent care that really understands the needs of it customers in a professional and respectful manner. I would like to thank every one a AFC Mission Valley. Great JOB!

The receptionist was lovely and professional. The waiting room was clean and comfortable. The nurse was very polite and friendly while he had to take fluid samples. And, the doctor was patient, asked me good questions applicable to my illness and explained, thoroughly, the reasons behind her need for further tests. I recommend going to afc Urgent Care in Mission Valley, if you must :)

I called to make an appointment and I got put on hold for about 15 min, so I hang up and recall and the woman answers immediately and ask what she can do but yet I was on hold for 15 min. When I asked why I was on hold, she paused and then says we had a long day....

Stopped by this location as a walk in, only waited about 15 to 20 min to be seen. Was seen by Dr. Lara Marquez. She was so so awesome! She was extremely nice and thorough. She took her time and explained things to me in a way that i could understand. I so wish that she was my primary care provider, she was that good. Also, i got a call with lab results in record time. They were also extremely courteous and helpful in their explination of things. I would highly recommend this location and D.Lara Marquez as a provider.

I came to this place to have my daughter looked at for some stomach ache. First of all they called our name then the doctor showed up publicly stated that they don’t have the test necessary for for that issue not to mention lack of the facility needed. The doctor did not even spend the time explaining and discussing the situation. I have to say they were nice though. Spend some time and be ready for people that’s why called urgent care.

I was seen promptly and my infection was successfully treated. After returning home in eastern USA, my doctor concurred with the diagnosis and treatment given to me by the AFC Mission Valley Urgent Care.

We have been here for over 3 hours and not only the receptionist but other staff rude and making excuses for a Covid-19 test!!! Don’t come here, see your primary physician or someone else

All the staff here are extremely friendly. I’ve been here a couple times and I’ve never had to wait too long. They are pretty quick and very welcoming. Especially Alex who was the one helping me out running some tests on me. He was extremely nice and welcoming. Just amazing staff all around.

Staff were friendly. Wait time was reasonable and was pretty close to the staff’s estimate. but I especially enjoyed talking to Natasha, who was very helpful and clearly working hard to make sure I was getting the best care. She answered all my questions during my visit. She is approachable and caring. Overall I’d come back.

This is my go to for anything urgent... Came in today due to chest pains and was seen fairly quickly... NP Brandi Gallagher (hope i spelled it right) and EKG tech Alex made me feel so comfortable and at ease. i love how they both made me feel as if i was part of the family. thank you for everything you do.

The front office girl Sarah was so friendly and very helpful. There registration link kept kicking me out and she without any hesitation got up from doing whatever she was doing and helped me on their iPad. She was the only one working the front that this urgent care was handling herself very well with everything she had to do. Thanks to her she I had a great experience.
