    The representative at pick up did not walk me to the car so we can check it out together. The information on the receipt upon pick up was not accurate. The car was not clean. Upon drop off there was no one there and it was still 10 minutes to closing. I was charged an extra day even after calling and speaking to a rep over the phone stating what was happening. Just overall underwhelming customer service.

    Best avoided. Terrible customer service. No interest in finding a solution but instead to do the least amount possible to help. Arrived and car booked was not available (but they did upgrade us here), no car seats with zero effort made to help. Their suggestion was that we cancel with them and rent with another company! Car seat was found but was ‘dirty’. It was actually cleaner than the one said was ‘clean’ - both were disgusting. We had an issue with their system, something I am told by other AVIS employees could have been easily overridden but the manager decided not to and was not interested in finding a resolution. Eventually a workaround was found but not a good experience overall. Would not rent or recommend this location (Tijuana CBX).

    No Avis preferred at this location. You will need to stand in line. Cars in very bad condition, with oil change alerts and simply filthy. At drop-off you don´t know if you are giving away the keys to an employee or to a stranger as they are not uniformed (employee in picture with jeans and t-shirt with no employee ID). Not recommended, very bad experience as an Avis preferred customer.

    Car was good, they gave me an upgrade from compact to a mini SUV. The service is a bit slow, but overall a good service. So why the 3 star? I receive the car with 3/4 of gas. I return it with full. I arrive at the exact time to return it, but there was nobody in the parking lot, so I went to the front desk, to that time I was like 4 minutes delayed (but arrived on time). I return the keys, I asked to the lady if there would be any charge for that 4 minutes and she said no. The next day I got a charge; 164 dollars. They didn't sent me an email so I check the reservation, they where charging me for coverage and kid seat (that I paid in advance online) and additional hour and fuel recharge. I kindly ask thru email to check that, and they reply that everything was right. Then I reply again giving all the details, that they are charging me again for things that I already pay. That I deliver the car with even more gas and that the additional hour was nonsense. After that last email, they accepted to refund me the charge. I lost like a 5 usd dollars in the rate convertion, but at least not the 164 dollars. My advice is to take photo to everything, when you pick up and when you return it so you can prove it.

    A big thank you to Alejandro and the young woman working the Avis desk for their incredible customer service! Our flight was delayed and we arrived at the Avis counter 15 minutes after closing. Both had already worked a long day and were ready to close the counter, but still took the time to help us with friendly and efficient service.

    It is always a problem that they never have the car you reserve, there you have to wait for them to bring it, more or less clean, the only advantage is that they are there when you leave and the person who attends has a regular attitude.

    Worst car rental experience ever. Landed at 5:45 PM and went to pick up my *pre-paid* car at the Avis counter open till 8PM. Everyone had gone home despite our calling two days earlier to confirm the reservation and getting assurances that all was fine. They had no qualms stranding us there without so much as a call or text. We called Avis who was of NO help and said just wait till tomorrow morning like they told the other family below. No offer to transfer the reservation, get us a cab to San Diego airport, get someone to bring us a car, or put us up in a hotel. Definitely no "self-service" of any kind. We ended up taking a $40 Lyft ride to San Diego airport -- at our cost -- and finding out CBX Avis/Budget is not a "real" Avis/Budget location, but a franchise with known problems and lack of consistent staffing and cars. DO NOT use Avis or Budget at this location (common ownership); rent from Hertz, who was very helpful but could not provide one-way rentals, or take the $13 shuttle to San Diego Airport car rental instead to get a car at an authentic car rental location. An absolutely awful end to a great vacation.

    The service here gets worse and worse as time goes on. They have yet to open at 8am in my last 3 trips. I go every month. As a Chairman club member I at least expect these places to open on time. The cars are sub par. They look more like Thrifty rentals. I am going to use hertz and see if it's better

    They charged me for fuel when I returned a car, even though I put more gas than there was at pick up. Three days later I had a pickup at 11:30 but my flight was delayed. In the reservation they said they would wait but when I got there, right after midnight, there was no one at the office. An employee from anotner company, who was still there, said that Avis closed at midnight. They didn't even make the slightest attempt.

    This place is HORRIBLE really bad customer service this was the second time I made a reservation here and both times they didn’t give me my rental the first time they said my rental never processed and the next time they said my rental processed too late I confirmed my rental with 4 days in advance. The clerk was super unhelpful I was traveling with my two disabled children and it was 11pm all she said is we don’t have a car for you.oh and by the way the charge was made to my credit card so I was left with little available money to get a different rental or even pay for transportation thanks to them. And she said You should have made the reservation with at least a week in advance I really don’t think that would have made a difference. Avis should really look into this place so unprofessional I saw she had plenty of keys for plenty of cars I think the main problem was my car was a one way but if they don’t offer that service it shouldn’t b available when making the reservation. I think it’s really sad because like I said I was basically stranded with two disabled kids another child and my father which is of age. So unexpected I didn’t know what to do at that point. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. I know I won’t b using their services. And I will make sure my family doesn’t either I would hate for them to go through wat I went through.

    Terrible experience especially with their representative Angelica. Angelica was Super unhelpful and was rude. They didn’t have the vehicle we had reserved and they had confirmed. Never using budget or Avis ever again this trip they did the exact same thing to us twice ( didn’t know Budget was the same service) don’t waste your time and patience. Super disappointing.

    Very bad experience at Avis San Diego CBX. Rent a vehicle for 3 days and according to them, do not deliver it in a timely manner. Charging for two extra days because why did I deliver it until the 5th day. And even after sending evidence, they made me double charge the vehicle. Be careful, take a photo of the vehicle. Ask for proof of who receives it and take a photo of some official identification. They charged me 7,305 pesos more.

    They charge me for the keys of the car delivered, when I give them to a person in the CBX Avis parking lot, and with a uniform and many keys in his hand to other vehicles. Dishonest, or disorganized? The rates are not what they say they have on the internet, since they come out immediately with the extra for picking up and delivering not at the San Diego airport, but at CBX. Bad experience.

    Called for about 2 hours no one is answering. Get transferred to the call center and they can’t help everytime. Booooo bad business booooooooo Response to the response: Susan I fully understand a business can be busy and sometimes the phone can’t be picked up. But I was crossing the mexico usa border and wanted to get in contact. Everyone of the 12+ calls the people in the car made got transferred to the call center. The call center has absolutely no way of getting in contact with a store. The store wasn’t answering. It was a cycle of disappointment and frustration as a customer. Besides that, we began to think someone had left the phone at the office unplugged or on mute. If the rental experience is phenomenal after the entire transaction I will fully reflect that on the rating but as of now my experience is at two stars. (Up from one)

    At the rental location I faced several disappointments, I reserved and paid for a Ford Edge or equivalent and i was Given a Chevrolet Equinox which does not have the same quality. Furthermore I recorded a video to indicate to the person at the counter that the Equinox had the front fender damaged to which he replied "We are aware, so do not worry about paying for it" but my concern was the condition of the vehicle. Since i needed to reach my destination I started driving and noticed that the tires were unbalanced which resulted in noise and shakes from the car. The next morning I noticed that the tires are not only unbalanced but also completely worn out beyond acceptable standards.

    I reserved a car and called ahead to make sure that they accept debit cards. They confirmed it twice once verbally on the phone and a second time through the online chat, I have the screenshots and transcripts. I get to the pickup site and I"m told that they don't accept debit cards. I showed them the transcripts and screenshots and they didn't care. I had caught an Uber from the airport that cost me $42 then I had to catch another Uber for $38 to take me to the train station. I will never rent from Avis again! Never!

    If you have a digital drivers license (like they're being issued in Mexico), they will not lend you the car. Their policies don't talk at all about this. Also, it's a nightmare to make a change to your reservation. Not recommended at all.

    Giving it 3 stars because I received the car with almost no gas. Upon dropping it off they charged me 109 dollars because I did not return the car with a full gas tank. I informed the personal that it was not fair for me to return the car with a full gas tank when I received it with no gas! My card was charged! I called customer service i was told I was going to be reimbursed but till this day I haven’t, I have a picture with the amount of gas that was on the car when I picked it up and the miles it had prior to me using it. I was very disappointed, if you want your cars to be returned with a full gas tank then, cars should be given to us renters with a full tank.

    I liked the service I received when asking for a quote, also the service at the place when I get at the location to get the car rented, it was fast, I loved that I did not have to wait for much time as happened with previous rental with other companies, it was simple and fast. I rented a small car and received a Toyota 4Runner so that was very good.

    Con-artists! Rented a car for two weeks and turned the car in early only to be charged $500 over quoted price. I’m taking every step I can to ensure this large company doesn’t get away with robbing me or anyone else! BEWARE!!!!

    When we picked up the car, it was not the car we had booked, the tank was not full, the car was dirty, and there was a warning message on the dashboard about oil change. We notify the staff but they didn't seem to care. When returning the car there was no one at the counter for over 30 min. The person that eventually arrived was rude. Avoid this car rental. The experience was really bad

    The worst place to pick up a car. Suppose to open at 9am no one came until 10, who wasn't even an Avis employee. Had me on hold for more than 20 minutes when I tried to call. And didn't let me take out a car without a 200 dollar deposit from a credit card (they don't accept debt cards) eventhough they already charged me for the reservation. Said they would give me my money back right away and that wasn't true either.

    The desk will never answer the phone. It will always go to the national call center. Guy at the counter confirmed this. Recently I had a confirmed reservation for 7pm and they had all gone home at 5pm with no notice except the sign at the desk. I had to spend the night at CBX. Avis.com said they close at 8pm. I contacted avis during the incident and after and NOTHING. No compensation or investigation. Because there is no other one way rental option, I have another reservation this week for 5:30p and now avis.com says they close 5pm. There was no notification and my reservation still shows 5:30p. Based on my previous experience I am not expecting to have a car after landing. I tried to contact Avis and was told they could not help. Not that it will help but the email to the manager is cbx.counter at avis.com.mx. (Yes note the mx even though the location is in the US). Why is Avis corporate not correcting the problems at this location? Avis, you have an obligation to have cars available at the time of confirmed reservations or provide an alternative to the customer with NO additional cost. In response to owner: my flight was booked after I had a confirmed reservation at 5:30p. Are you going to pay to change my flight, pay to get me to another avis location and have them hour my rate, or stay an extra 15-30 min past your NEW closing time?

    Lady at counter was courteous and told us that credit cards are needed to rent cars. What I didn't appreciate was that she told us we could do debit cards at SD international Airport and upon arriving its not the case. We wasted our time trusting her to give us accurate information. Next time we will keep in mind and just take the train or taxi.

    I have had great experiences here before. But last Saturday July 30 there was only 1 person at the counter and he was very slow. I was second in line and still it was 1 hour until my turn came (behind me there were like 10 more people, I guess they waited the whole afternoon)! My reservation was for 3pm , and my turn came 25 minutes earlier. This person wanted to charge me $130+ for 1 extra day for 25 minutes difference. Very poor customer service! UPDATE: Even though I returned the car on time, I still got the charge for an extra day! Which now I have to dispute with the credit card issuer. HORRIBLE

    Terrible experience!, I dropped the car at the CBX location and they didn’t want to check me out when they received the keys, they said they were busy and were going to do it later It’s been almost 3 days since then and my reservation remains active and hasn’t been closed it’s impossible to get someone on the phone, I’ve dialed around 30 times and nobody picks up the phone I even tried with Customer Service but they said that only the representatives at the location can solve it I refuse to pay any extra charge as I returned it with full tank and on time To be honest, you better rent at Hertz, a little bit pricier but you get a way much better experience

    We rented a car for a week. The price was right, the pick up was extremally easy. There was no extra questions and forced sales of insurance. The pick up location is convenient and easy. The car was new and clean. It took us 10 seconds to drop off the car. We'll be back!

    Was not sure what to expect as we had never used the CBX crossing before. We were pleasantly surprised with Avis at CBX. Super easy and conveniently located. No long lines and the staff was friendly and helpful... no hassle check-in and check-out process. The rental car was great, as was the total rental experience.

    the car was great. But when I went to pick up car, eventhough It was paid for in Advance, there was a $250 depósit. and they would not accept a Debit Card for the deposit. So I had to leave and return 4 hrs later with a crédit card.

    My wife had just lost her grandmother. She had a reservation with this company for 8 in the morning. Trying to get home. When she met the agent they had no car for her. So she was stranded there. I called customer service after talking to 2 people i was hung up on. I recommend never use this company.

    When I got to my destination, I realized that at the CBX I got charged 50.00 for picking up the car early but no one explained this to me. When I did my reservation it said Avis CBX opened at 8:00, but my flight arrived at 7:00, I when we arrived at Avis counter it was open, so we approached.
