I have absolutely no idea what they do here except the fact that there’s a ton of salt that makes some great views during sunrise and sunset. My kids get a kick out of seeing such a large pile of white stuff! In looking at the reviews someone suggested Wikipedia to check out its history. If you’re ever in the area, “Steve Says” you want to check this out at least once. Heck, I may even called to see if they offer tours.

Such a rad place for photography. Between the reflection pools and all the white salt everywhere. It really makes for great photos. I highly recommend you checking it out. Now you can't go inside as it is protected land for the Tern Birds. But even from the outside it has a really amazing view! Go check it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Neat to see. Watched the salt go up conveyer belts to stack the salt. No trespassing here. Good walking path and views a bit farther south at the bike path.

It’s beautiful to look at, but there’s always mobile homes parked in front of it and it takes away from the view.

Salt harvested from the South San Diego Bay of northeast Pacific Ocean, using sun to evaporate ocean water for ocean salt. They neither added nor took anything from naturally crystallize ocean salt. They do open to public.

Recently rode the bike trail just south of the salt ponds. The bay bike route runs between the ponds and the drainage on the south side of the bike trail. The smell was awful coming from the drainage - raw sewage is the culprit. I’d think twice about consuming salt produced about 200 feet from a drainage that appears to regularly have raw sewage in it.

Off the beaten path but there's a lot of trash and people living in rvs and what not. Kinda dirty.

I just HAVE to know! How do you keep your salt mountain from washing away in the rain? Does it not dissolve in the rain water?
