This park is amazing. It is a historical site with a museum. However, be aware that there are a lot of homeless people. If you are worried about safety because you have kids or you care otherwise, you will have an unpleasant feeling which you will fight hard to ignore , but is that even a good thing? I wish they had a place to go. We pay such high taxes and can’t even go to the local parks in peace. There are very few homeless shelters around.

I’d never been before despite being a SD resident for 20 years. Fun adventure with the hubs.

Beautiful views and a nice hike. The museum is closed during the stay-at-home order, but there are public restrooms available. We parked off Taylor St. and hiked in.

What a hidden gem! Lots of open space to run, picnic tables scattered along the bottom of the loop under nice shady pine trees, amazing breeze, and bathrooms at the center just off the loop. A good amount of street parking but they also have the lot about a quarter mile away. Easy to get to too, nice place for a social get together.

Park of historical significance. Beautiful place. The primary building looks like the Presidio and looks like it is old, but it is only 95 years old, not 300 years old. It's not the Presidio, but it has great views and offers a historic site. Great museum about a person fundamental to the European settlement of California.

I only removed a Star because so many statues and other historical & art pieces have been removed. Be aware only 1 restroom in center of 34 acres, near start of trails into Palm Canyon, off One-way "circle" road. Some amazing view place, many off beaten path.

Alcohol is allowed in this park, but glass is not, so plan accordingly. Bring cans of your favorite local craft beer to enjoy, but leave the hard seltzer at home: that stuff is garbage and not worth putting in your mouth, let alone bringing to a park. Saw an owl here the last time I visited Presidio, so that was cool. You probably won't be so lucky, but you can't win if you don't play, so might as well take a chance.

Love this park! You are at a walking distance from old town and you have a wonderful view of the bay. A nice hiking trail in the canyon and don't forget the mission. Parking is a bit limited but not too bad.

This is a great location for pictures, if you are looking for a nice spot but not as crowded as Balboa Park; this park is the perfect option. There are some green areas around and the Junipero Serra Museum which provides great backgrounds for your pictures.

Presidio Park is the prefect place for a romantic walk, or a day with your 4 legged bestie, leashed, of course. It's so pretty in spring and has a 2.1 mile trail that's great for all skill levels. And, don't forget, it's free parking, and the busy hours are between 11am-3pm.

I grew up in Mission Hills and was a frequent visitor as a youth. The canyon down the hill from the Serra Museum is and was relatively seldom visited, and is an epic location for outdoor fun and birthday parties for kids. We had many growing up, and it is an epic destination for capture the flag games, with natural territories on either side of the canyon! Still kind of off the beaten track. These days, I like taking a lunch break at the picnic tables and shaded parking area under the big pine trees down the slight hill from the gazebo at the end of Presidio Drive. Sometimes, if I have time to kill, I'll just park there and take a nap.

What a beautiful place to visit! A beautiful and wide open park with plenty of tables and chairs and parking. It's a great place for a picnic and people watching. Surrounding the park are shops and places for food and drinks, salons, ATMs, and even the Cosmopolitan hotel, which is a great Western themed place. The best part that I experienced was after dark, around 11p, all kinds of bunnies come out and wander around! I'll bring lettuce next visit!

I highly recommend visiting Presidio Park when in the Old Town area of San Diego. This park offers many places to have a nice picnic, read, or enjoy a hike. As a bonus there are numerous points atop the hill that offer vistas of the city. Not only are there nice views but there is also a rich history with Spanish influence. Along the top of the hill there are original sections of wall which surrounded the mission. As a cherry on top there is a place within the park known for urban legends call the Witches Tower. There are numerous reasons to visit and something for everyone.

One of the best parks in San Diego and thankfully one of the calmest. People who know the area come to enjoy their lunch break in the shade of the trees while listening to the birds and the wind.

Beautiful large multi level park with monuments, museum, flag poles, Arbor area. Lots to see and do. Spent time at the top to pray meditate and enjoy the relaxing shade under the Arbor and trees. One homeless person sleeping by the monument, use caution ⚠️ if alone.

At the top of a hill overlooking surrounding San Diego's Old Town. It's BEAUTIFUL with trails, historic markers, grill sites, picnic tables and large expanses of lush green turf shaded under old growth trees...at a 45 degree angle! Quaint place for a getaway day.

It's a nice place.. but the homeless and drug users have taken over half the park unfortunately. I came across an open safe box with drug residue and lots of trash from homeless. Park rangers were talking to homeless blocking the trails as well.

I wonder who scot was and why he was free.... Musta had no talent or work skills making home worthless and free.... Scot was a sad man......anyway I hated it!

Attended a wedding here. Beautiful setting for a wedding. Steps up from the parking area can be a little daunting. Also, no guardrails on the open tile area is a little scary. Really surprised they don't have them. Bathrooms are old and small. Beautiful chapel. Beautiful sunset views.

Great view of downtown San Diego. Right at Old Town. Extensive, well maintained park. Parking is limited.

Having lived in San Diego for over 20 years, I cannot believe I have only visited this park twice! It has so many unique structures with the history supplied on plaques and other informational media. There are several fairly easy trails to explore also. I am only giving 4 stars for now because I haven't finished my exploration of what it has to offer and the Presidio is being painted and a couple of areas were not accessible due to landscaping renovations. If for no other reason the sunset views from the Presidio itself are gorgeous and unimpeded.

BeUtiful views of the city and river. However, the museum is only open on weekends. There are no readily available benches to sit on. It is worth going just for the views and history of the area.

This is such a peaceful place it's so beautiful downside is nobody's moderating the homeless and the park is dirty full of trash and human feces it's a shame but it's still beautiful wonderful views from up here too

Took the kids to have a picnic. We ended out leisurely walking several of the trails and viewing some of the historic items. Was easy to get to and several areas for parking spread amongst the park. Mostly shaded and paths designed to lead you around.

Big open park with trails and a view.(view is nice at night) I go in the early morning sometimes and I will have the park to myself. Very peaceful, I've only noticed the park busy on holidays. Cons - Bathrooms are used by the homeless.(especially bottom trail one)

  • 5/5 Glenda S. 1 year ago on Google
The highlight is the church nested above the park with a tremendous amount of historical facts about the history dating back to the 1500s.

After having a wonderful lunch in Ocean Beach, we decided to take a hike through the park. We walk through the trails in the shaded areas. Sat for a minute and caught up on different topics. A great place to bring friends or to spend some quiet time meditating.

Very nice park and big. Good for nature walks. It has restrooms located at convience places. The top part of the park. Which has a U shape road with park in the middle. The signs say no parking. There r very few places to park due to residences.

If we can either talk or able to get the homeless to either permanently pick up after themselves as much as possible, praying that they will comply or truely permanently kick them out, build a fence and hire a couple of security personnels to attend duty there so the homeless do not come back and scar the landscape.
