Orca Encounter

Tourist attraction

😠 Such a small space for a big animal. I don’t support it. Unfortunately they were all taken from there natural habitat for shows and entertainment. DONT COME HERE. Go waste your money on something else just don’t come here please. People often mention orcas, animals, show, shows, wild, World, orca,

Please do not support the captivity of these massive aquatic mammals..... there is no tank large enough for them to truly thrive.

Not for me. I love animals and seeing how small the tank these beautiful creatures live in should be illegal. It's wrong and I dont support sea world what so ever.

You can't breed instincts out of wild animals in only a few generations. ALL orcas need thousands of miles of space to be healthy. Keeping them in tanks of any size is cruelty and torture.

I just don't get it. Everything in their shows i already know or have seen in the wild. Their 'orcas hunting' was pretty funny, they just swim side-by-side. Would far rather see them in the wild with their pod than I would here. However, if there was any place that held captive orcas and I'd have to go it would be here because Blackfish forced SW to change so much.

I love animals, I’ve been to regular zoos and roadside zoos/circuses. I’ve seen animals when they are treated poorly and treated well. Seaworld I think generally treats them well. When I saw the orcas, most of them seemed happy. One did have their fin weird but the other one I saw was jumping and swimming around and this wasn’t even the show. Instead of getting mad because what CNN or PETA told you, go for yourself. You want to see animals treated poorly? Go to a roadside zoo. Alligator Adventure in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. They have the biggest crocodile in captivity in North America at 18ft yet even though they claim he has 5,000 sq feet, it looks more like 1,000. Anyway, I’d still recommend seeing them anyway. There are so big and so cute too look at! Especially because they stopped the breeding and it’s hard to find them in the ocean, I’d take advantage before they leave and die out.

Dang! I wonder why there are so many bad reviews. It's a great show. It's the best they can do after the things that happened. Great show and Bravo to the care specialists! Great way to teach awareness for future generations! What I find ABSOLUTELY HYSTERICAL are the people that watched the show and in-turn supported the park they hate so much and cry about it on a review. If you hate it so much then DON'T VISIT.

The same people in the comments about “blackfish” be the same people going to the zoo still and supporting it LOL. Hypocrites at its finest. Don’t like sea world don’t come simple. Go protest somewhere else. At the end of the day y’all the ones miserable. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean everyone else shouldn’t like it either

One of the best shows in the sea world! Amazed by how Orcas have been trained so well to perform stunts and entertain the audience. Nice to see orcas waving and splashing at you. If you sit on the lower area of the seats be prepared to get splashed 💦 and drenched in sea water which is an enjoyable experience. Definitely a must watch!

The Orca show was awesome!!! Highly recommend getting in line 30 mins before show to get a good spot to sit. We sat in the "soak zone" and got soaked 👍

Purchased Sea World Ticket for all attractions....$50 plus per person Loved seeing the age difference! Awesome training of animals and great care given. They are humonguouhumongous! Possibility of getting splashed in first 12 rows. Bring ponchos and towels or purchase $12 or $25 from them.

An educational performance where the orcas swim and splash the crowd, and the trainers talk about orca facts. These orcas seemed happy, well -fed and well-cared-for.

Mixed feelings. While this show is very educational and full of awe-inspiring displays, it is a little bit strange to think these magnificent animals are actually prisoners, compared to their wild peers. I'm glad the animals have taught the humans at Sea World so much, and possibly helped sustain the wild populations of Orcas, it still feels kind of funny.

Amazing experience. Educational yet fun. Try to get into the first two shows, less crowded and you'll have all day to dry if you get wet!

Best show at the park, I especially love my girl her name is Shouka she the one with the slightly bent fin (first pic is her) I usually come to try and learn hand signals by watching the trainers but I always enjoy watching the whales preform as well

If you're looking on satellite view of this attraction you'll notice the top left tank has a weird patch in it that is the blood of an orca that died while in their care while many others suffer. I do not know how they still have orcas after their treatment of these gorgeous animals.

It was our first time back at Sea World ever since our last visit back in 2004. So this was definitely our first time watching the Orca Encounter ever since Sea World stopped doing the theatrical orca shows that my sister and I grew up with. Personally, we really liked how the Orca Encounter was much more educational and focused on orca conservation, and where the orcas could swim around amid a huge digital screen that highlighted their importance and life as some of the most majestic animals in the ocean. As children back in the 1980s and 1990s, we had watched the orca theatrical shows in which trainers swam and interacted in very close proximity with the orcas. But due to animal rights activists, movies such as "Blackfish," and also incidents that happened with trainers at some of their parks, Sea World changed their shows over at least the past decade to becoming more educational, and less theatrical. All the seats in the Orca Encounter stadium are fantastic :D ! And if you really want to get splashed, such as on hot summer days, you're more than welcome to sit in the "splash zone" rows :D ! Trainers praise the orcas from the stage, and point out interesting facts and highlights regarding orca life :) ! We are really happy to hear that Sea World stopped their orca breeding program in 2016, and are focused on educating the public about the last generation of orcas in captivity at Sea World, as well as about how orcas live in the wild :) ! Let's hope and move towards a better future in which all orcas can thrive in the wild and always travel freely with their social pods :) !

A MUST SEE. It was the greatest animal show I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t take my eyes out of it. It’s worth the $95-ticket.
