Wow, terrible customer service! Asked me to hold on twice and then after 15 minutes, just hung up. I tried calling back but no answer. Since I was close by and on my way I decided to walk in. Same guy yelled at me that he isn’t taking any more orders. When I explained politely, he kept cutting me off. He was one of the owners. When I asked why he didn’t tell me that on the phone, he told me to leave. Very rude, but worse! Just didn’t care and very disrespectful. Business is booming now, but I have also noticed a decrease in quality and quantity. It will catch up to them! Customers matter! REPLY TO RESPONSE: After several months the owner responded to several similar accounts of horrific treatment of customers by blaming the customers. Lies! I would never be rude to food preparers. First because I believe in kindness and second because that’s a rather stupid thing to do. I suppose owners reputation is catching up with him.

I would certainly say this is one of the best Lao-Thai food restaurant around here in South Bay. This hole on the wall and family owned restaurant boast an authentic and tasty food menu that would rival the best Laotian and Thai foods. We would definitely come back here again and we'll recommend this to our friends and family.

Place is a hidden gem!! It's clean, staff super friendly and great prices. Panang curry with beef 🔥 Drunken noodles 🔥 And the best presentation of sticky rice mango, ever. Portions are large and very well seasoned. Have definitely made a regular out of me and my little family 💚

Wow, terrible customer service. The owner was so rude, my jaw dropped. I could tell that the employee in the front was embarrassed and apologized for the owner's attitude. I had called and was waiting on hold. The owner asked me twice to hold and then came back on the line after about 15 minutes and apologized for the long wait. He said he would be right with me. After another 5 minutes I was disconnected. I thought it was an accident, so I called back 3 times and it went to voicemail. I was on my way there, so by this time I was outside. I went into the restaurant and the owner yelled "we aren't taking anymore orders". It was nowhere near closing time. I explained that I had been waiting for 20 minutes on the line and was cut off. He yelled again "NO MORE ORDERS!". It was at that time I realized that he had just hung up the phone on me and didn't care that I had patiently waited as requested. I asked him why he hadn't just told me that over the phone. He said "YOU CAN LEAVE NOW!, NO MORE ORDERS!" I have never been treated like that at a restaurant before. He was mean and nasty. Bad customer service and a declining quality of food and smaller quantities will catch up with them. CUSTOMERS MATTER whether they think so or not.

I had my order to go, sticky rice was nothing special, not sure what brand they use, there's but definitely better out there. It actually motivated me to go buy some and make some myself. I also ordered some egg rolls, the inside of the egg rolls were mushy, not worth the $9. The chicken for the chicken laab salad was a over cooked, the mint was fresh, the cucumber was crunchy, lettuce was the inside portion that's yellow. Needless to say my hunger for Laotian food was not satisfied. My quest continues

Ahan Lao is a fantastic restaurant. I have been twice in about six weeks because the food is delicious and well priced. My family’s favorites are the Thai papaya salad, the Lao beef jerky (which you have to try!) and the Nam Khao. The service is quick and friendly when dining in and ordering take out during the afternoon. Please give this place a try! You won’t regret it :)

I have been to many Thai/Lao restaurants from back east to west side. There are many amazing tasty choices of dish to choose from at Ahan Lao. The quality, texture and taste just makes you feel like you're back at home again. Lovely, friendly customer services and a great deal as well. As my life is too busy sometimes I'm glad to be close by Ahan Lao where I can also get delicious Laotian food togo. Definitely recommend this hidden gem.

Great place! Food is great! The food was served quick. Clean Place. The server is very accommodating. While we are waiting. They gave us thai tea on the house! we love this place!

Great food, I always order a very specified dish and they always exceed my expectations. More than the food, customer service is A+! They always make me feel welcome and appreciated as a customer. There are many Thai restaurants but since they opened they're the only one I visit. Highly recommend!

Just tried this place for the first time as I am always trying to find good Thai food in the Chula Vista area. Having been to Thailand, the family and I agree this is the best we have found in the past three years. We wanted to order the Fresh Spring Rolls but they were out. We ordered the Fried Spring Rolls, Shrimp Coconut soup, Chicken Pad Thai, Beef salad, Hot Basil with Chicken. Everything was tasty but they did not put chili in my dish (I enjoy the heat). All other dishes were ordered with no spice for my other family members. They also gave me two steamed rice rather than one fried and one steamed as ordered. These are minor issues. The quality of the food was very good and the food was prepared well. If you want good Thai, I strongly recommend this place. Seems to be mom and pops type place and the quality of the food shows they care about what they are doing. I paid with a debit card no problem. The gentlman was very polite. We will be back! Next time I will order medium or very spicy!

They have the best lao sausages with the jeow bong except it was undercooked. Like lukewarm on one side and cold/red on the other side so I had to reheat it! Other things I tried here were just okay. Their mango was tiny and didn't taste very good but the sweet coconut rice was okay. It was too overcooked like almost hard. $10 for that dessert as of now since online price isn't updated yet.

It was my first time visiting Ahan Lao and the staff was very friendly and everything was super clean. The food was also really yummy. I loved the Drunken noodles, the curry and wings. Everything is flavorful and delicious super recommend.

The customer service was great. I really enjoyed the shrimp pad thai. The spice level was perfect. Would definitely recommend this place.

It's a great unique Thai restaurant. Could use better curry 😜 but everything else was delicious giving it a 5 star because of the service and how nice they were when serviced. The food was great! Greatly recommended.

The Khao Piek Sen is BOMB. I ordered it for take out. The price is real good for their portions. I also ordered Thai Tea. This place is great for those who work or live around there. It's a quick and easy place to grab a bite to eat.

Been coming back here for over a year, the food is always delicious and fresh! I've had consistently high quality and generous portions every time I've ordered. And the staff have always been very nice.

This place is nice! I like the decorations. The food is pretty good too and yes, it’s a little hole in the wall but that’s okay :) the only thing I would say is that the servings were kinda small last time we ordered but still good! Also, last time I wrote a review, the owner got mad at me? I think he confused me with someone else so I just took it down, but it’s alright, :D the foods still good!

When $68 worth of food isn't enough to feed 2 people, there's a problem. Yes prices have gone up but what we got was absurd. Portion sizes are very small. The food was just OK. I can not recommend this place at all.

You know that food is only as good as the person who cooks it! And this place makes their food with LOVE!!! Flavoful, fresh and authentic!!! Came by as my family was craving Thai / Lao food. This place came highly recomended by many friends. AND WOW!!! The food was soo good! And I believe the couple who were there were the owners and they were soo nice and friendly! Love this place!!!
