Great Indian food. Not greasy at all. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. We were the only non Indian customers there and it was pretty busy which I take as a good sign as well

Perfectly created visual foods served hot and fresh, with some seating available inside the shop. IMO there isn't any no other Indian place better and cleaner than Sattvik, in the San Diego region. This is a strict vegetarian spot, with a homely feel, but served with high quality, well prepared meals. All the Chaats are so good, I could keep eating Kantha Behen's delicious foods. They close by 8pm on weekdays, FYI

Found another gem! Saatvik Foods serves delicious Indian food in a modest setting with reasonable pricing and TONS of vegan options! Everything was so flavorful. They also have many prepackaged options for takeout. Really enjoyed this spot and the people who work there. Very friendly folks. Will definitely return!

I'm in food heaven right now. I just had the most gratifying lunch at this place. This was not my usual lunch experience; I'm not a food critic or a chef or even work in the industry, so I don't get to talk to the chef when I visit restaurants, but today, thanks to my friends, we got to meet Chef Kanta, the owner and chef of Sattvik Foods! As we enjoyed our appetizers, she told us a little history of herself (which you can find on the restaurant website) and what Sattvik means and strives to do. In essence, she wants her food to bring wholesomeness and positivity and they sure did. We ordered some side dishes to go with our full thali (rice, roti and 3 curries of your choosing). One of the curries I had was the paneer and it was my favorite among the three! It was so good when Chef came out to ask our group if we want any second helpings (pretty sure this doesn't happen in normal settings), I quietly asked her if I could have more paneer curry. For desserts, we had chocolate almond burfi and boondi ladoo. This was the first time that I had or even heard of boondi ladoo. They were these little balls of sweetness! Each was around the size of a ping pong ball. As you bite into one, you get more than just sweetness, there is a slight surprising taste which totally elevated the experience for me. I'm not gonna spoil the surprise by letting you know what that taste is. Try it for yourself! Rose lassi! I love rose beverages and I've never seen rose lassi before, so I had to get that. It was really good. They also have boxes of snacks and desserts in the fridge for you to buy and extend the food heaven to your home. Thank you, Chef Kanta, for taking us through this amazing food journey.

We tried lots of items over here and food quality was terrible ! Namkeem In misal pav was so old that it was taste stale ! We ordered mango milkshake they haven't have it mango pulp so they just added water in mango lassi and given us ! We called them to inform it and they are rude and unapologetical!

The most unhygienic place in San Diego. They ask for used plates to be kept on a side table and were serving food right next to the pile of used dishes with leftover food. The hosts were least bothered about the customers and were behaving curtly throughout our visit. Even asking for a bottle opener was like troubling them and we received more curt looks. The food is average and probably stale with almost no salt. Giving it 1 star as there is no option of a zero. Greatly dissapointing experience.

The most unhygienic place where you are asked to keep your used plates in open. Tasteless food. Chef Kanta Sister you need to work on your executive chef skills !!!!

I've been trying some of the delicious vegan snacks - bel puri, samosa, hara bara kebab (similar to falafel but made w/ spinach and other veg). Great regular puri, too (deep fried, crispy, chewy whole wheat flatbread). Planning on returning to try other vegan items

Sattvik Foods, is a vegetarian/vegan kitchen located in Miramar, San Diego, that offers variety of Indian dishes and specializes in chaat (Indian street food) They offer daily meals and also do catering from small events to weddings. They also have a variety of pre-packed foods and Indian sweets that you can just walk-in and take home. I tried their Thai (which offers a variety of delicious dishes which change daily) I also tried chaats like Dahi Puri, Vada Pav, Dabeli, Ragda Patties, Samosas, etc

I’ve started going here at least once or twice a week and have not been disappointed by a single item. I get the mini thali every time with either an appetizer or dessert to go along with it. The prices are phenomenal and all of the employees are very friendly and helpful! It’s so neat that they have a different menu every single day of the week!

Just read the owner's response to lower rated reviews. Rude and unable to handle criticism that could be very helpful to their business. The food I had was good, but it's hard to want to spend money at a business that is mean and unreceptive to it's customers. The responses are full of sarcasm and telling the customers that they don't know what good food tastes like. To be fair, I thought my food was good, but that isn't the right way to handle reviews that don't make the owners happy.

**TL; DR** If you are from India, you will realize anyway by your second visit. Those who are not — please don’t encourage this place — you are being misguided. It’s neither tasty nor authentic. —— A dedicated warning for people who are coming here for the term “Sattvik”—you will be disappointed. In any which way I see it, there is nothing Sattvik about this place or the varieties it offers. —— Very very bad hygiene and quality of ingredients such as oil. Stay away for your health. I found the chef doing all the work on a Monday after noon, only leaving me astonished. The celebrated chef in pictures, right in front of my eyes, touched every surface from the restroom handles to cleaning broomsticks 🧹 to serving food, carelessly moving across the jobs — no gloves or cleaning herself in between. The restroom is located in the worst possible location, inside the pantry with its door wide open. —— [Edit] Upset in my stomach exactly as I afraid by looking at my order of puri came drenched in cheap vegetable oil. [Edit - after owner’s reply] Yes I do keep editing my reviews whenever I feel like. To ensure I conveyed and covered what I need to. And to reach more people it needs to. Owners unapologetic, irrelevant reply only supports my points. Viewers, please see her recent responses and decide yourself.

Best Indian food in San Diego! Tried out almost all varieties of food here, chats are a top favorite! Also a big fan of the lunch combos. Delicious vegetarian food (North Indian/Gujarati, chats and appetizers), very close to authentic Indian home cooked style. It's a cozy joint with nice seating. Watch out for the timings before your visit as they close quite early in the evenings.

Tried Samosas per recommendation from friend, Oh man, would definitely say that these are best samosas in San Diego. Made fresh everyday and had rich stuffing of Peas and Potato. I am not getting Samosas anywhere else hereafter. Also tried their Dabeli and Gobi Manchurian, both equally good.

  • 1/5 Diganth A. 4 months ago on Google • 68 reviews
After reading all the rave reviews about this place I was left utterly disappointed at the food served here. The quantity and the quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired. My order for two consisted of Gobi Manchurian, Paav Baji and Dahi puri. The order was delivered relatively quick but the food was subpar. The Gobi Manchurian had more of besan flour than Gobi. The Paav was the cheapest buns normally used by Carl's jr for their 2$ sandwiches and the Baji was awful. Dahi puri was the only dish that tasted OK. I would stay away from this place if I were you.

Saatvik Foods hosted my company for a small cultural gathering. Chef Kanta on the spot was able to produce not only a delicious meal for all of my coworkers, but also a very entertaining cultural experience that enriched the experience of eating Indian cuisine. She gave a prodigious amount of time and effort to make our experience a unique one. And I appreciate every second of it. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to taste Indian home cooking or just wants good food.

I have to agree with Maya. After reading all the positive and negative reviews, the response from the owner on the low reviews are terrible. Small business owners should understand that you can’t please everybody. When negative reviews are posted, the professional thing to do would be to apologize to the customer and ask if there is anything you can to do to improve your service and/or product. When a business owner is defensive and responds rudely toward negative reviews, it leads me to believe that the service and/or quality is truly poor. Customers have the choice to spend their hard earned money where they want. I wouldn’t want to give my money to a place that doesn’t appreciate the fact that I chose to give it to their place of business. I root for small businesses, but unfortunately it’s this type of poor customer service that makes me chose not give my business to a small business.

Great food, but ordered via Postmates for 6 adults and 4 kids and spent $280. The amount of actual meat in their containers of curry is very low. The curry was delicious, but when a few people have taken small scoops and you get to the heart full container of curry and are searching for the few pieces of chicken left, it's a letdown. I can't imagine each $18 serving of chicken tikka had more than 1/2 a chicken breast. Lamb curry was sparse as well....again, flavors great here, but need to add a little more meat to the product

This is an amazing restaurant! The food is definitely worth the price! The menu has many different dishes, which are all vegetarian (some even vegan!). If I had to recommend a dish, it would be the vegan ragda patties. There are two potato tikkis, drenched in a sweet pea stew and a spicy green chutney, all topped with sev. It’s the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, soft and crunchy. Overall, this is a great place for people who want authentic Indian flavors, and for vegetarians!

Authentic Indian homemade food. Try food from here if you want to try food from Indian household with miminal spices. Lots of variety of Mumbai and Gujrati dishes. Only vegetarian food. Only issue is the restaurant never switches thier AC on even in peak of summer afternoon.

  • 4/5 Lindsey L. 1 year ago on Google
You order at the counter and they call your order when it's ready. It is an all veg restaurant and the food leaned towards the sweeter side. Just be prepared to wait if you come in during a time where there are many phone orders. The restaurant will prioritize taking orders over the phone rather than the person waiting in line in person. I wasn't in a hurry so it didn't bother me, but if you're in a rush, you may want to call in your order prior.

We ordered a cup of chai/tea, Kachori (lilva), dabeli, vadapav, and panipuri. Everything was okay in taste. Vadapav and dabeli had the same paav/bread and they weren't fresh so that was disappointing. Somehow their food felt a little stale maybe they used a bad quality of oil to fry/cook the meal. Their tea and panipuri was good but nothing exceptional. Service was quick and the place was easy to find. We wouldn't really recommend this place.

<<Newly added>> Smart move Sattvik. Removing previous day menu so that no one knows you are serving leftovers Amazing food. Definitely pricey, but given the taste of the food, it is fine. Who are we kidding?!?!? Yes, they use previous day food. If you see same menu for two consecutive days, it simply means they are using some leftovers and adjusting it. I am fine with it as long as it was stored properly. You see Aloo masala in day 1 and baigan aloo next day, yes some leftover was used. You see lemon rice two consecutive days, yes again it was leftover. I liked everything except for malai kofta. I am sure it was a quick fix and had the pasta / tomato soup sauce from costco. It tasted exactly the same and being from Gujarat, I know malai kofta should not taste like that. Overall fine with the food!! Proud of you Sattvik for not wasting prior day's food :)

For my son's graduation, we recently travelled to San Diego, where we enjoyed their Full Thalis. Unlike other Indian restaurants we've been to, this one had delicious food without being overly spicy or greasy. The service and staff were excellent. When we met the chef, she gave us the history behind the restaurant's name, Sattvik. It lives up to its name. I heartily recommend them if you want real Indian food.

Whenever I went for dine-in experience, the roti's they serve with their thali's are not fresh. They are made previously and heated up in microwave when served. Tasted very dry and hard. Not worth it.

We ordered Pav Bhaji, Samosa, Vada Pav, Sabudana Vada, and Mini Thali. The food was worst, and we had trash Pav Bhaji as it had too much Vinegar, and my daughter couldn't even take a single bite; the same was with Vada Pav. Sabudana vada was burnt or over fried, couldn't eat, the Samosas were either over fried or not cooked, same fate. Mini Thali was Okie Dokie. We used to visit this restaurant before the pandemic as part of San Diego. We will not dine at this restaurant in the future.

Went there recently while visiting San Diego. Of all the restaurants we visited in San Diego, this one was the biggest disappointment. The feeling was they are doing us a favor by serving food which we paid for. Their mango lassi and other drinks are watered down. Pav Bhaji was cold, Kofta was uncooked. Most restaurants have bins to place leftover food and utensils, this restaurant has an open table near the entrance where they want us to place used utensils and leftovers, while people are eating nearby. Their Chef and staff should intern at other San Diego restaurants to learn about running a restaurant.

The worst experience ever with this restaurant. This is my first time and I felt like having a good meal,I thought these people have a good combo of lunch box.Lol-its looks like how we get to see Jail food in Movies. So,we never know the taste, though it looks the it is,I tried it and found it horrible, kadai paneer has No paneer and if you ask where is paneer they will tell you to buy it separately. This is business 😂. The lady in the counter is so demanding and only bothers for money not the customer satisfaction. Finally i thought at least try that khadi -Its not made of Dahi believe me its totally flour.Who eats flour with rice and roti? These people should understand. The worth of this useless lunchbox -$12.50 which is gone in the waste. I highly recommend not to eat lunch box ,its a big loss of trusting you will have a nice meal . Secondly don’t ever go when that lady is in counter-age would be around 50 plus, because she will eat your money and will ask you to buy curry separately if you want to eat which has to be provided in the meal. Finally its a big LOL restaurant, please don’t try and do not waste your valuable time and money to have a nice meal.
