11/16/22 EDIT I have to say that this place was always pricey but it’s now too much. The wait for the food is ridiculous and I’ve decided to find another breakfast place that has better service and prices. We all know why everything went downhill and it’s very sad. OLD REVIEW: The food here is authentic. All my friends love this place. I like it here too. The owner is great, the waitstaff is awesome. HOWEVER imma keep it real. They DO NOT know how to bring out food so it comes out at the same time. They will literally take up to 20 minutes between some plates. This is the only problem here and also at the new place across the street. It’s always been this way and all you can do is take it or leave it. Unless they see this and take action. I still LOVE them. And I’ll gladly watch my family eat while I wait for my food 🥲

NEW Review (9/25/2021): Down from 5 starts to 1 star I didn't want to say it but Vanessa's service and food to go packaging has really gone down hill. The food is still great but let me tell you. My wife and I order to go only from this restaurant and usually eat it in the car under a tree in the Chula Vista Center Parking lot. The problem with Vanessa's is that their to go packaging is so low quality that it sometimes falls apart and the food ends up on my lap. Bear in mind that we order to go from other restaurants and we don't have this issue because packaging is superior and most importantly sealed so that no liquids or solids get out. On that day the to go container failed and food ended up on my lap and not only that, the lemonade that I ordered WITH NO SUGRAR on it (I told them 3 times) ended up having sugar. I'm diabetic and sugar is not good for me. So my dinner was completely ruined and am just considering just not ordering to go at Vanessa's. Since we don't dine indoors and Vanessa's doesn't have outdoor dinning it may end up being a long time before we enjoy their food. Hopefully they improve the quality of their to-go services and pay attention to orders that because of medical issues has to be very specific. We will be back. Hopefully Vanessa's can go back to 5 stars with improvements to their service. OLDER Review: 5 stars Excellent Restaurant. Their menu has tons of options that I am have yet to try. So far I have tried the Birria soup, tacos, tortas and typical breakfasts (Ham and eggs for example) with absolutely no complaints. Highly recommended

Since the new location has open this place has changed tremendously in service and food quality. I’ve been coming here for roughly 8 years… sad to see this happen. This is a place I would always recommend. What really threw me off is that a SMALL chocolate milk that they make with syrup and takes about 30 seconds to make costs $4.99. $4.99!!! I hope the owners see this, this place was made famous because of authentic Mexican antojitos with great food, good portions, and great customer service. Not price gouging. SMH.

Used to be really good but now everything is very skimpy. The chile relleno barely had any cheese, not much of anything on my tostada and the enchilada lacked toppings. It's a bit pricy so I am disappointed. Used to be my go to spot. The meat is also cooked different than before. I miss what it used to be. If i go again I'll stick to the quesabirria, seems to be the only thing worth getting these days.

Store hours says they open at 7:30am. I went there yesterday at 8:20am and waited and waited because it was closed. Finally, the owner showed up at 8:50am. She let her employee in that was also waiting. I walked in and said good morning twice! They didn’t even acknowledge me. I don’t think they knew I was there. I had to go to work and so I left.

I actually went to Artistic printers next door they are awesome, friendly and very, very fare price! I love this guy's and they handle all my cp affairs: printouts, fax, notary, business cards, flyers, some gift cards I made. I've been doing business with them for years, even when I moved out of the neighborhood I still came back and will recommend you do business with them. Good quality work, prompt service and very professional looking anything you get done ✔️ 👍🏼

I was very disappointed with this place. Atmosphere is nice and they sell a variety of things, even water by the gallon. The reason for the 2 star is because they forgot half of the food we ordered. Waited 20 min before asking but didn’t think we had to. Sopes we’re subpar and the Mulita is just 2 tortillas with shredded cheese and meat. But just give it a shot yourself and see what you think. Oh yeah salsa is watery and has no flavor

Salsa was watering and plain, chips were hard and the worst part was that I ordered a mulita and basically it's a taco made with tortillas not masa. Nothing like the picture. I had eaten here a while ago and today I remembered why I stopped.

They have an extensive menu. Something for everyone. My family and I ordered a variety of items, from their special French toast to the chilaquiles. It was all delicious!

This place has been a hidden gem of mine for the past 5 years. Delicious bite while waiting on laundry next door. The salsa Verde is one of the top flavored of the town so far. The torta de Carne asada and Gordian is my "go-to" order everything. Also the horchata is delicious and served in a "mexican" sized large cup like in the markets. Literally the definition of hidden gem.

This place is disgusting the tacos were cold. I don't trust no one who looks over the counter at your when order a little strange ain't no telling what they be doing to your food when they glare at you effing strange. Never go back I rather go to my neighbor house for authentic Mexican food. The girl in the back kept glaring at like she suspicious...heck naw I am not going back. We just to threw the food away after we paid. I don't trust people with my food..sorry not sorry!!

Very extensive menu. I love that the menu is bilingual, too. Tried the Mitad y Mitad (Half & Half) which is half carne asada fries and half carne asada chips. It's like they knew the exact dilemma my wife and I face when we want to split a meal but can't make up our minds! The meat was flavourful and great quality, the toppings were perfect, and the portion size was good. I didn't love the salsa (good thing I only bought a small side of it; I really thought I'd like it more), the chips were a little hard and well-done, and the fries were a little too mushy, but I'd try the dish again, in case it was just a bad day. The guacamole on top was excellent and just the particular way my wife likes it. I'm dying to try some of their sundaes and a banana split!

We found this place on a long, tiring day; Veronica, the server, was superb, and the food was delicious and affordable. When we are in town, we stop at least once. So yes, we recommend it.

No complaints about the water (they sell drinking water and you just bring your containers. Water is good). Employees are nice, though. I got a Chamango. However, you needed a magnifying glass to see the mango in there. Very few tiny pieces. Their so-called Chamango was nothing but iced water with chile for the most part. They put that extra Tamarindo with chile candy inside, and that's about it. I am very disappointed about that iced water with chile drink. That was NOT a Chamango. I'm Mexican, so I've had a lot of them, and there are others that are way better in San Diego. And then to make matters worse, this thing cost like $8.00 for the large one. The disposable cups and lids they use are the lowest quality. They are super flimsy. I may go back to buy water, but I don't think I'm buying anything from the deli ever again. That's how disappointed I was.
