OMGGGGGG so I decided to come here because I love Indian food and you know some places can be a hit or a miss. Babbyyyy let me tell you the food was on point. I read the reviews and was like mehhh so I had to try it for myself. I would most definitely recommend. Customer service was great the food was EXCELLENT, and you get A LOT FOR YOUR MONEY and I’m stuffed. I’m definitely coming back

I’ve never been in the restaurant and have only eaten take out once. That said, the chicken biryani was some of the best I’ve ever had. The yogurt that came with it was amazing! Everything was balanced really nicely. My friend’s chicken and appetizer were really good as well.

I went for dinner, paneer Tikka masala and naan were decent but the rice was undercooked. Ordered spicy Tikka masala but wasn't spicy at all. Excellent location, good vibes and a decent service. Prices are reasonable compared to other San Diego downtown eateries. Overall a decent and quite place.

Stopped by for some drinks and apps….wow what an experience!! Service was attentive and friendly. Overall atmosphere was nice and it wasn’t crowded like other restaurants in the area. Food and drinks were delicious!!

I can’t comment on the quality of food as we did not eat there, but if there ever was an award for the rudest customer service then this restaurant would be very well deserving of that. I wish I could not give it a single star. My husband and I visited this place sometime back. It was a Sunday night. The restaurant had two or three vacant tables. We stood there for a while and no one acknowledged. Finally, a man who seemed to be the owner saw us and came over—all the while he was shaking his head as though we had done something wrong by even entering the restaurant. My husband and I looked at each other wondering what was wrong. We asked for a table for two. Despite having empty tables inside the restaurant, the man rudely pointed at the empty and dusty patio outside. He simply pointed towards that and left. The patio was cold, dirty and there was no heating. We stood around for a while in shock while he attended other tables. After he was done, we tried to go up and talk to him but he saw us and turned his face away. The message was loud and clear. He simply did not want us there. We were so shocked we walked out immediately. He saw us walk out and did not even bother to ask why. In all the times that I have eaten out, never have I experienced such pathetic and rude service. My message to the owner, if you don’t like talking to people and being respectful then you are in the wrong industry. If you don’t respect customers, they won’t respect you—there are many better options out there where people do really like their jobs. We ate pizza next door instead at Pizza@5th, very friendly service and great pizza!

We were a little skeptical eating here especially after reading the reviews, but we thought let's try it. We were not disappointed. The food is amazing and so is the service. We would definitely be visiting again when in the area.

Ordered Spicy Biryani & Spicy Butter Chicken but got no spicy at all. Store hours was supposed to open at 4:30pm but they weren’t open till 5:10pm so we waited. I am giving 4 stars because our server the guy was very nice & helpful. Food was good & price is okay too.

The restaurant was empty when we walked in but even after we waited no one was there to seat us down. We decided to seat ourselves and had to ask the waiter to wait on our table. He seemed like he did not want to be there. He took the orders with disgust and was a little rude. The food was good and quality pretty decent but we felt it was an inconvenience to request for anything through the waiter.

WARNING: Everything is spicy. If you cannot handle any spicy hot foods, do not eat here. Only eat here if you can handle spice. I asked for Zero spice in my food (Butter Chicken), and it was HOT. My friend's dad ordered mild spice because he loves Indian food, and his head was dripping in sweat...he literally had to wipe his head and face with a napkin multiple times. The taste of the food was absolutely delicious, though! I do recommend.

I ordered the lamb biryani. The lamb had a good flavor but the dish itself just lacked the normal flavors you'd expect from biryani. I like that they give a large portion of raita for the biryani.

Good atmosphere but the server is very rude and showed no politeness nor friendly welcome straight away as we entered,he seems to look so grumpy and angry facial expression.We asked him for the wifi and he said there is no wifi With great expectations and excitement we came to dine but our interest loose to even eat.Don’t know his name but by the description the old chubby and fat server. i would sell my kidney to taste these tikki masala fries again. this was one of the best things i’ve ever eaten i finished it in about 5 minutes.

I would sell my ovary to try the chicken korma again for the first time it was bomb I ordered the medium spicy one and EASILY I give it 10/10. Tikki masala fries were so good it should be illegal to supply fries that tasty GET THE GARLIC NAAN YOU'LL LOVE IT. Service was good, quick and to the point, love that.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! We ended up eating there three times on our four day vacation. Perfect spice! Perfect chicken curry. The shrimp dish my husband had was fantastic and the naan yummy!

Coming from the UK I was generally surprised at the taste and heat of the food. Great service and very well priced. My only observation was the side salad could do with improvement…. add some onion, cucumber & tomato? I would certainly recommend it !

Really enjoyed the food and laid back vibe at Urban India. The Coconut Curry and Butter Chicken were both feasts for the senses. We also enjoyed the chili cheese and garlic naans.

I ordered the chicken tikka masala and the Gulab jamun and it was pretty good. Anytime, I eat Indian food here in the states I try to remember that it will never match what I had when I was in India, but I felt like that chicken tikka masala was a little bland and lacked flavor. The Gulab jamun was also pretty good but a little dry!

We ordered Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan. Was delicious! This is my second time coming and always is so good🤩😮‍💨

There have been many firsts in my trip to San Diego, and dining at an Indian restaurant was among that list. Urban India Restaurant did not disappoint. Nice little spot right in the heart of Gas lamp Quarter. I had the Masala Fries with chicken added as an appetizer. Glad I had company, as the portions were quite large. For the main course, I had the Tikka Masala with shrimp served with mild spice. I was very pleased with the taste of the food, the service, and the pricing of the menu items. The whole experience was gratifying and I would definitely return for a visit and try another dish on the menu.

The best food in town!! I highly recommend this place. Surinder the owner was super nice. My wife and I had tomato soup, papri chat and dal tadka, it was so delicious!! Compliments to the chef. We will definitely be back.

The food is good, but the spice level they are really confusing. I usually like very spicy food, but when i realised very spicey was like unimginable hot i toned down to medium spicy, i still got the same unimganiable spicy, i am huffing and puffing and crying when i tasted some of the curry. So the taste if the food was really good, but the heat as in chillies they use better to ask before ordering.

I order a spicy food that was extremely spicy Lamb Curry in there was only 4 small pieces of meat I mean really small pieces anyways. Waitress young latino guy professional. But the other guy ball guy Bad attitude Bad customer service really bad the food was not good I’m giving one a star because I will not recommend anyone to go there. I eat Indian food twice a week I love it but this place was eww

I have never eaten at the restaurant. HOWEVER, I have regularly and consistently ordered take out from Urban India throughout the Covid era and every single time I am SO VERY happy to have ordered. The food is consistently good. The portions are substantial (I usually get at least 2 meals out of an order of Butter Chicken or Coconut Curry). The naan is chewy and fluffy. The prices are reasonable. It has been my go-to restaurant for the past year and a half. KUDOS!!!!

The host and the DJ are amazing! Indianized fries was really good and we had good time. They even played Punjabi songs of our liking - just for our drunk dancing friends. Total fun!!

Worst biryani I ever had in USA. Total waste of money. When you ask for extra spice they just add chili powder in it. No taste of biryani

Good indian restaurant in san diego downtown. Food was good however was slightly overpriced. Taste was also good but not great.
