Cafe 86 - Chula Vista

Cafe

😠 Visited Café 86 after a friend experienced the fantastic late at Hood Famous in Seattle. Our expectations were that this place would be just as good or close. Sad to say that it was bottom tear. We ordered an ube latte that did not taste at all like a latte but rather tasted like bland whole milk. I... People often mention good, coffee, milk, service,

Visited Café 86 after a friend experienced the fantastic late at Hood Famous in Seattle. Our expectations were that this place would be just as good or close. Sad to say that it was bottom tear. We ordered an ube latte that did not taste at all like a latte but rather tasted like bland whole milk. I thought adding sugar would make it better so we asked for the cashier to sweeten it more and she said it was against management rules as "drinks cannot be altered." WHAT?!? Horrible customer service and management. At least give a better excuse like "we can't because of COVID." She could have EASILY given us a few packages of sugar or a tiny cup with honey. Problem solved. Honestly it wasn't the cashier's fault, it's the managements fault but she should at least given given us a few packages of sugar. After all, the customers satisfaction is what drives a business.

The 3rd time in Café 86 and I can say that is a great place to work, chill and enjoy good drinks! The most amazing thing is that they use Taro (Ube) in ALL their deserts, which is YUMMY!

I was looking for a coffee shop where I could study and get a good coffee and pastry. I ordered the ube latte with almond milk and a shot of espresso….. soooo tasty! Perfect amount of sweetness and caffeine. I paired it with an ube truffle (which is covered with Oreo cookie crumbles), you have to give it a try.

Visit Cafe 86 for a unique experience that will likely involve the purple of ube (taro). 💜 Many drinks, mouthwatering bakery items, and small bites. The cozy cafe has indoor and outdoor seating and can be a good spot for limited laptop work. Great vibe and excellent service!

Your place for your ube cravings. Ube shakes, ube cupcakes, ube cookies, ube lattes, ube milk teas and more. The ambient is relaxing. The one where you can order a drink and do some work. The staff were amazingly friendly and patient. I know that their cookies and cupcakes are a hit at my place of work.

Great service and excellent Filipino sandwiches, desserts and drinks. 4-12-23. Love this place. They make their Halo-Halo a little different by using cornflakes - marketing to the kid in us. The crinkle ube cookie is so delicious. The ube cupcake with flan is delectably onolicious! Ya gotta try it! 9-14-23: Warm and friendly greeting. Love the Ube Flan Cupcakes and Calamansi Hibiscus Ice Tea drink.

This is a really nice cafe. Teas, milkshake, coffees, pastries, and a few sandwiches. Everything is fresh and really good. Affordable. Parking really is bad. Street only or limited behind. Read the signs so you don't get towed

Good coffee. In my opinion, the place has no personality, no music playing and the restroom was flithy. The young girls are Inexperienced and timid and haven’t been trained in customer service. It seemed more like a club house of some sort not a coffee shop.

Good coffee. Yet they offer more than coffee/lattes, teas, pastries, milk shakes, milk teas, slushes, and blended coffee. Very Clean, family friendly and inviting atmosphere. Modest prices. Indoor and outdoor dining available. We ordered a cookie butter latte and a vanilla latte. Both were good. Only one size available.

Quiet Cafe to meet with ppl or study! Variety of Drinks: teas, milkshakes, espresso bar, milk teas, slushies, blended lattes, ...3 sandwiches. What this place is known for is the pastries! UBE EVERYTHING! Halo Halo as well! Obsessed over the ube truffle and Ube Butter Bar!

Service was timely, food superb, music at reasonable volume, and diverse seating options. I'm not a sweet potato person, ube is not like sweet potato. Ube is a category all it's own so be sure to try it. This cafe's menu is a mix of Italian, Filippino, and individualism. Do yourself a service and try an affogato and an ube cupcake.

Order Pastrami sandwich was hard like a rock, undigestible. Drinks are good and aren't expensive. Staff was not friendly, just meh. Bathroom is nasty and floor is sticky. Entrance and seating ok.

If you love ube everything come here! My favorite dessert to order is their ube truffle balls. Its a cute and cozy cafe to hang out. The drinks are good and they got dairy free options too.

Coffee was good, prices are high, but this areas Cost of Living is higher so it’s probably to cover that cost. The customer service was good they want you to wear a mask FYI No bathrooms at the time they where having issues with their bathroom. I have it a 4 because the coffee and the vibe of the place. I would come here and study if they didn’t have a mask.

Parking: A little hard to get a spot in front of the Cafe but there are plenty of parking the the back of building. Ambience: Cozy Service: Fast and Friendly. Very helpful with going over menu for first timers. Food: I came there to try the famous Ube Crack Cheesecake, Crinkles, Ube truffles. Sadly this is my third time going and still never got to try them as they’ve ran out. I got the Ube Monster and Ube Leche Flan Cupcake instead. Both were pretty good. Overall: My order was good but probably not worth the price and hype unless I do get to try their infamous ube crack cheesecake. I think to get the best experience I would recommend going earlier in the day when they still have all their popular items available. I’ve gone once in the evening and twice in the late evening at other locations and they’ve alway sold out.

I was craving a chai tea and I ordered the Chai Latte with soy milk, and tasted like nothing at all, pure warm soy milk with a hint of cinnamon. Also wanted to try the flan with cupcake, and I must say that the first bite was interesting, but then the second and third the flavor was weird me, not sure how to describe it but the flan had a strong egg flavor (I know a flan is made with a lot of eggs) but the flavor was really strong combined with maybe vanilla? It’s just a no from me.
