Breakfast time! Get here early and wait patiently. Don't bring a bad vibe with you. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so you will be waiting outside, on the sidewalk, until called. There are no benches, be prepared to stand. This location is on the smaller side but the service is courteous and quick. They have been here since 1964 and it shows. From the decor to the bathrooms (Gender neutral) to the whole layout, but the food is delicious. My pancakes were fluffy and cooked to perfection. The butter and syrup, pure deliciousness to top them off. My homestyle potatoes crispy on the outside and cooked just right in the middle. I didn't care for the Garden scramble eggs with sausage, don't get me wrong, there was a lot of sausage mixed into the eggs however something about the texture didn't sit quite right with me. My friend Javier had his usual Shredded beef omelet with avocado. His was amazing as usual and he did comment that the pancakes were, "bomb". On a side note, next time we're going to try the Asada with chilaquiles plate, a gal at the table next to us ordered it and it looked amazing. Coffee was great, service was great, check this place out if you're in the area. Don't forget to tip your server, they are working really hard to make your visit a good one. This place is a small piece of history from a bygone era. Definitely dated but just like anyone else born in the 60's we take a licking and keep on ticking. Have a great one. Bon appetit! 11/26/23 Breakfast Corn Beef Hash omelette with potatoes and pancakes. Pancakes w/butter and syrup ALWAYS a great choice. The corn beef hash was different than what I'm used to. The flavor was good however the texture was not to my liking. It was more like sandwich meat, not unlike a Rueben, sliced or chopped up and put into an omelette. It was good nonetheless. Portions were big. I couldn't remember what I wanted to try until I reread this post. Next time I'm having the Asada w/chilaquiles plate. Javier had his usual Shredded Beef Omelette with 1/2 an avocado on top. Two breakfast with coffee $52.00 ($2.00 credit card surcharge) plus $20.00 tip. Thanks Javier. I got the next one. Great start to a great day.

Absolutely LOVE Family House! I've been coming since I was a child and it has NEVER disappointed! Their breakfasts are the absolute best in Chula Vista! Their omelets are to die for and their crepes are always so delicious (ham, mushroom and American cheese omelet with house potatoes and Nutella crepes pictured)! There is usually a wait and parking isn't too plentiful but they are DEFINITELY worth the wait and lack of parking!

Wonderful environment to enjoy a meal. All the staff were awesome and the food is always filling and absolutely delicious. Regretfully I did not take pictures the last time I was here. Great food, awesome portions, and great service. Definitely recommend

One of the best homestyle breakfast spots in Chula Vista. This smaller location near H St is just as good as the original, larger Family House of Pancakes location in Plaza Blvd. They have a wide variety of breakfast specials, waffles, pancakes, and lunch options. My favorite is the cajun sausage egg scramble with grits. The country fried steak is so crispy and juicy, the gravy really seals the deal. Portions are large and some even enough for two. Omelettes and burritos could easily be shared. Try the extra large cinnamon rolls! (mouth watering) Excellent customer service, delicious food and affordable prices. Keep in mind they get really busy after 9am and on weekends.

This place offers not only huge portions but equally large bills. The egg-based food is "Ahh", only the pancakes and crepes are good. Even the decor/ ambiance/ location doesn't come close to justifying the outlandish prices of simple breakfast fare... far from it. Overall a disappointing experience for such a highly rated establishment.

Amazing place to have a casual brunch or breakfast. Servers are pretty nice and helpful and the food is as good as it ahould be. It is not the healthiest food but it is absolutely filling. Portions are huge and it is always nice to get a to go box to save some for the afternoon. We tried the fiesta omelette (it has shredded beef. A lot of shredded beef) and the egg benedict. All foods were cooced to perfection and tasted as should.

Food was very good as always. No prices in the menu. Service was very good. Had the corned beef hash and biscuits and gravy.

Super busy and it doesn't impact the quality of service at all. People are super friendly, it's packed and the vibe is awesome, very mom&pop. The portions are humongous - in our group we tried The chorizo breakfast, pancakes, and garden scramble, side of hask browns and fresh fruit and we all loved everything. 👍❤️

What can be said about a family restaurant that is still around. Great food, service with a smile and comfortable environment. Since I don't really like a sweet breakfast, I opted for a veggie scramble with potatoes and an English muffin. Portions were large and ingredients were mostly fresh. I was surprised by the in-house cut breakfast potatoes. I would love to have this place in my home town.

The food was really good. We only had to wait like 5-10 minutes for a table, and it was a bit busy, but the staff were quick at cleaning tables and getting people sat down. I was impressed with the quality of everything as there isn't anything all that impressive about the atmosphere or anything, but the staff were all friendly, the food was good, and the prices were definitely reasonable.

It is my favorite place to have breakfast, the flavor of everything is fantastic, the way they make the pancakes so fluffy is sublime and the drinks are quite good.

Everything about this quaint little time capsule and hidden gem is the perfect breakfast destination that has literally kept generations coming back for their favorite homemade morning favorites time after consistently delicious time. Perfectly located in the Southbay between the 5 & 805 Fwys in downtown Chula Vista. It's very much worth the drive no matter where you are coming from. Make sure to avoid the wait times on Saturday mornings by sending someone ahead a few minutes to put your group's name on the list. Or if it's just you plus one, just grab a seat at the counter with their very comfortable diner seating. My favorite choice in pancake? Their very famous Swedish Pancakes with their iconic Lingonberry Butter! Great as a side or sweet treat. My favorite meal is their Mushroom and Cheese Omlette that is definitely big enough to share. Enjoy!

The food is great, servers are quick and courteous and it is overall just a good enviorment and you feel right-at-home. I tried the NUTELLA-BANNANA CREPES and received a pleasant surprise when they arrived (these are no tiny rolled-up tacito-looking crepes) they are enough to satisfy a grown man! On the side I got eggs sunny-side up and bacon and sausage (I CAN NEVER PICK BETWEEN THE TWO!) I asked for extra crispy and that's exactly what they did. Needless to say if I am in the area I will not hesitate to come here again! Oh yes.. usually there is a bit of a wait for bigger groups as they need to wait to accommodate, but that just let's you know how wonderful this place is. If your in the area make sure to stop by! You won't regret it!

My first time and it was a great experience with amazing food! It was jam packed but they got us a table with only a 20 minute wait. The service was super fast with the food coming out extremely quickly. I ordered the California omelet and it was the cheesiest omelet I’ve ever had!! My fiancé ordered the Peanut Butter Banana pancakes and loved them as well. Overall 5 stars and would recommend to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot in Chula Vista.

This a small restaurant, more of a mom and pop eatery with family-style dining, an open kitchen concept where you can see the orders being submitted and the chefs, but you are not able to see the food being prepared. The food portions are extremely generous, enough to feed three people. There are very limited vegan options. I tried the potatoes and added fresh sliced avocado. Not the most flavorful, but it was light and the avocados were fresh. Would I return? No, the options for those with dairy, wheat, egg or lifestyle eating choices are very limited.

It was crowded when I went. I only waited for like 10 minutes which wasn't bad at all. I went with my child and he got the teddy bear pancake with a side of bacon and I got the Spanish omelette. Portions are huge which is fine but the actual omelette was huge, soggy and the flavors were off. My son liked his pancake. If I went again I'd have to try something else off the menu. The customer service was good and the ladies I spoke to were as attentive as they could be. Overall a little disappointed but I understand they were pretty busy so that might have contributed to the overall experience.

Great place. Delicious food. HUGE plates. When in San Diego (or Chula Vista of course) go there! They have literally everything on the menu. Hard to decide and when the food arrives, it looks fantastic and tastes amazing. But it was so much, we took almost half of it home with us in a box. So the prices are really worth it. Even more, considering that you get free refill all the time for coffee and other drinks. Besides, the staff was so nice and they were so many that there was almost no waiting time for the food. They even had much time for some short chats in between — and gave us very useful recommendations for places to visit during our stay. Everyone is so kind. It was not just the name: It really felt like family. They even had a waiting line outside on a Monday morning…

The customer service was good that day. I loved the silly sign by the door. Now the food was subpar.. the Nutella and strawberry French toast was good. The eggs and the potatoes were flavorless they had no seasoning it tasted like I was just eating eggs and potatoes.. the eggs in the bacon were okay . Overall it was an okay experience but the breakfast could have been better..

Since 1964, Family House Of Pancakes is a great place to have breakfast, is clean, the workers were polite, the wait was for about 10 minutes which is good considering it was crowded. Fair prices for what you get, we were four people and the total was about 70 bucks, the food was good, would definitely recommend.

Service was warm and friendly. Although ordered takeout, the food was filling and great. There was a long wait time, but that's because restaurant was pretty busy. Definitely coming back

Best pancake ever! The salsa is fire and the eggs are cooked perfectly. Haven’t had that great of a breakfast in awhile. I kept it simple but I bet the specialty pancakes, crepes and waffles are just as good from the aroma. SO GOOD!
