A fantastic place for young and old to enjoy! Found this place whilst searching for something for the family to do and was not disappointed. If anything I was sad that I had never been before! The park is vast with all sorts of trails to do and sights to see. Upon arrival you are given a map of everything to see and you have the choice of choosing which path you want to take and how long the total time will be. There are wonderful sites from various towers, caves, underground caverns, bridges and the list goes on. There is a shop offering drinks and ice creams at the end of the trail which is a great treat for the kids after the hard work. Lovely views once you reach the top! Friendly staff and people on the way. A great day out for the family. We spent 3-4 hours here and had plenty to do.

Second time visit with 2 teenagers in tow (16 & 14) and they loved it too. They are happy walkers anyway but the trails, caves etc gave them opportunity to revert to their younger selves and it was lovely to see them acting a bit daft and exploring again. When you consider the amount of paths etc to maintain and the amount of time you can spend there, the price (online cheaper) is reasonable. Plenty of picnicing benches available throughout the estate so take your lunch and enjoy the views. Great that it's dog friendly too. Great family day out and will be back 😍

To see it all is not for the faint hearted, the grounds are spectacular in a natural way. Good walking shoes required and the terrain can be quite challenging - but well worth the effort. Some of the views are spectacular, and the panorama from the top of the column is breathtaking (not just the climb to the top).

Perfect for an adventurous walk - make sure you set aside most of the day for exploring and taking in the amazing views! Dog friendly.

Amazing walk, lots to do for young children from the play area to activities and stuff to look out for. We spent around 3 hours completing the full route including the strenuous lower path which was good fun. The dog loved all the caves, he led most the way, apart from over the rope bridge where he let us walk first. Would recommend it to anyone who loves adventure.

Terrific day out and excellent value if you have a car load. Fantastic signage always shows you the way to the next bit to see. Great workout too! Much of the tracks are not suitable for the elderly or infirm, but kids will have a great time.

What an adventure we had here! 3 hours walk with lots of steps and climbing, beautiful scenery, dark caves and fun games for the kids. (The Monument has 150 steps up- we counted them! 😅) Entrance fee is a bit pricey, but the whole park is kept clean and in good condition. Definitely will return, thank you 😊

Fantastic day out. Plenty of parking and well worth the admission price. Being able to take dogs is a welcome change from most places like this that you can visit. Friendly staff in the main reception / shop who are more than happy to take the time to explain the activities to you on arrival. Walks are excellent and the whole area is amazing. Well laid out paths and signs will take you on the route you choose. So nice to be able to do things like climb the tower when most would have closed this off to the public. 100% would recommend it to families / couples / groups or anyone wanting a walk around some nice grounds.

We've been here a lot, it's a stunning location with some history behind it. There's a few walks through the stunning landscape. You'll be walking through rhododendron jungles, amongst huge fir trees and along gorgeous sandstone cliffs. There are caves, gulley's and bridges. Small children will cope but there are some steeper climbs with steps to get up. There a cafe at the start and halfway through. Dog friendly, I think they need to be on leads.

Beautiful place to explore, adventure around every corner or rather up and down every step. Perfect place for a few hours of exploring caves, monuments, trees etc. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Brilliant place to explore & go walking, the follies were built by the hill family as a Georgian pleasure park for the rich .still a lot of the original follies exist & they are opening up more. Great place for children to explore, lots of climbing & uneven paths, very steep in places, amazing views out towards Rodney's pillar. Cave system to explore, follow the troll trail for kids .

I couldn't recommend this gem of a place more! We took three children (10,7 and 6 months old). You need good footwear and to be ready to climb a whole lot of steps and banks! But goodness me is it worth it. The kids adored finding the next cool thing to see (the white tower, the monument, the gingerbread house, the random little caves, the terrifying drops with amazing views, the Swiss Bridge, the grottos, the arch, the cleft which had to be the highlight for me... I could go on) absolutely brilliant. The cafe/tearooms could do with some work only a very small selection of paninis and traybakes but they were delicious and a very slow member of staff serving but luckily it wasn't too busy so we were seen to pretty quickly. Around the follies itself there were a few toilet stops/portaloos and picnic benches, plenty of places to drop a picnic blanket and take in a stunning view. The gift shop was Brill and ice creams sold there and also at the further end by the toilets and just after the grottos during the half term. It is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs in any way or anyone who may struggle with a hill/bank/steps sadly. The staff seemed friendly and welcoming and we genuinely had a fabulous time!

Great place to spend a few hours. The walks are well done and you could spend as little or as long here. Plenty of things for young and old, from caves to the monument, which you can explore. I would definitely recommend this if you are in the area.

Our third visit, but will not be our last. Great value for money.....and a good cardio workout. Wear good walking shoes, take water and a picnic, there is no better way to spend an afternoon. There is plenty of interesting follies and the scenery is stunning. Caves are fun....still get lost 😅

A walk that at times was a little plain including concrete sections that ran through featureless shrubbery, punctuated by the occasional point of interest that ranged from boring (a giant urn) to pretty cool (5th century mine that emerges out onto the side of a cliff). It took us about three hours to do the whole thing, and while some parts were disappointing, overall it was quite fun. I think adults looking for a walk could find nicer options in the area that are free, but the landmarks gave something to look forward to and would be engaging for kids. Be prepared for a lot of steps up and down across relatively treacherous terrain and uneven footing.

What a lovely place to visit. Certainly tested out fitness as a family but the area was just beautiful. Lots of walking so make sure you wear appropriate footwear. Different roots you can take, we mainly followed the enchanted trail (although we did detour a bit at times). The children could explore the area, search for fairies, trolls and dragons and also build dens. The kids loved the caves, make sure you bring a torch as they are pitch black but the kids found this very exciting!! We went up to the top of the monument, the view was amazing!! The stairs are a little steep and felt a bit dizzy going round and round to get to the top but was worth it! Lovely little cafe and toilets there and the man who served us on admission was very friendly and helpful! Dog friendly also. Free parking. Plenty of picnic areas throughout also. A lovely hidden gem!!

Awesome place, only wish we had more time to walk around. Our fault, because we arrived at 3pm and they are closing at 5pm. Still managed to walk around 5km , but there is definitely more to see.

A great day out with family and friends. Exploring the Follies was great fun with spectacular views from the numerous viewing points. Make sure you wear good walking shoes and take a torch, you will need it.

Interesting trail to follow here but some of it inaccessible to those with mobility issues. Pick a nice day & it’s a good way to fill at least a half day or longer if you picnic here. This place provided one of the most hilarious moments for me as a tourist: I was up the tower & on an adjacent cornfield some wayward reprobates had gotten ‘creative’ with their language in plain view. Funny hearing a well to do parent having to explain away to their inquisitive child who asked ‘what does that word say daddy?’. Heh.

Had a fantastic day here with the whole family (ranging from 19 months to aged 60). A historical place with beautiful natural views. A torch is a must if you would like to explore the beauty of the caves. Staff were supportive at the cafe and around the park during the visit. Well worth the visit.

  • 4/5 Sarah T. 3 years ago on Google
Really great place to explore, so many beautiful views, great way to spend an afternoon. No tea room at the moment so take a picnic as there isn't food there, the kiosk does cold drinks and ice creams though. Also would be great to have a loo on the monument side, as it is a long way from the kiosk to the grotto if you take the adventure trail!

  • 5/5 Andrew B. 2 years ago on Google
What a fun place for all the family! Reasonably priced and with a car park, but small but pretty full when we were there. Toilet facilities, cafe and shop. There are woods, caves, follies, lots of interesting trees including redwoods, bridges and, of course, look out for the trolls (not the Internet version!!). We easily filled a good half day exploring.

  • 5/5 Sean L. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful trail to follow with a clear path and amazing views. There are easier paths for younger children but there are still some difficult parts with a lot of steps so I wouldn't recommend toddlers going. Completed the main trail in roughly 3 hours with a stop for lunch.

Amazing place, lots of paths, lots of steps. View from the monument is fantastic. Plenty of places for a picnic. Lovely cafe, great to sit outside in the sunshine 🌞 with a hot chocolate.

  • 5/5 Nicki W. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing place! You could come back time and time again and see something new every time. There are different walks for all abilities, the harder walks made for the best pictures. Just beautiful!

  • 5/5 Philip H. 2 years ago on Google
A rare gem.... This place is stunning, with a huge variety of different things, the walk was the best part of 7 miles and pretty arduous at times with the steps but the views and everything they have done is perfect. Take a little cash for the drinks and ice creams at the half way point as they don't take card.

  • 5/5 Sean A. 2 years ago on Google
The walk around Hawkstone Follies was definitely time and money well spent; the enchanted trail take your around all of follies in a fairly clear part. Would recommend taking your walking boots, as it's 3hrs walk ... we walked it with two teenages and an 8yr old and there were no complaints from any of them.

  • 5/5 Jennie Y. 2 years ago on Google
Great day out, not your average boring walk! Lots of places for a picnic stop and lots of different trails to follow up the follies. There are some great caves to walk through so don't forget a torch! Definitely not for prams or wheelchairs, it's steep in places and very uneven. It's dog friendly but they have to stay on a lead. Fab day out, highly recommend!

  • 5/5 Ieva M. 2 years ago on Google
Stunning nature walk and views. It is 100% worth a visit. Would highly recommend. Also a great place to bring kids to exhaust their energy!

  • 5/5 Greg H. 2 years ago on Google
Great place to walk around and explore. Lots of steps around the hillside, as well as follies, Swiss bridges, cave networks and view points. Definitely worth a visit, and well worth the £10 adult entry fee. A full walk probably takes around 3 hours

  • 5/5 Nicola H. 2 years ago on Google
Loved it. Great place for adventures. My young son and I went with a friend and had a really enjoyable day. We walked up steps, down winding pathways, spied trolls, found a dragon, crossed a nartow bridge high up in the rocks and explored the caves. And the woods really do have eyes! Well worth a visit, the views are stunning and even vaster if you walk to the top of the follies. Take a picnic and enjoy.

Great place for a walk not suitable for those in wheel chairs or use walking aids

  • 5/5 Andrew Y. 2 years ago on Google
We went at weekend and couldn’t get over how quiet the little gem of a place was. Nice follies walk and walk with something exciting at each corner. Great for young ones to explore and adventure as there’s a kids Troll trail which was well implemented. Dogs are allowed and you can easily spend a few hours here. In fact we spent 2 hours and didn’t make it all the way around. Just keep in mind gates closed at 5pm so give yourself plenty of time unlike us.

  • 5/5 Steven P. 10 months ago on Google
Great day spent with our family and grandchildren, it is really near enough a full days visit to explore the whole of the site and be prepared to walk a fair distance and wear descent shoes . The views from the top of the monument and from the caves are superb across the countryside. At the moment adults are being charged at children's rates .

  • 5/5 Stuart L. 9 months ago on Google
Fabulous place, often the word "strenuous" is overused, it is most certainly not the case here, wear good walking shoes, neither is it for the faint hearted with precipitous drops, climbs and bridges, caves (Torches or Phone torches required) with several ways out .. the kids will absolutely love it. We arrived a little late to get maximum enjoyment. You need at least 3 to 4 hours to get around it all, (around 3 miles) allow more if you want to thoroughly explore it. We were cutting it fine for gates closing at 5 pm, so we had to miss put on the return by the lower path and elected instead to return by the fastest 'grand valley' route. I would happily return for a second, more leisurely visit. As someone else stated, they are charging only Childrens admission prices for everyone at the moment.

  • 5/5 Reg 9 months ago on Google
A return trip by my wife and me after 25 years. A bit more strenuous than last time but still an amazing place to visit. Some of the tunnels are dark so take a torch.

  • 5/5 A G. 9 months ago on Google
Absolutely amazing place! The full 2-3 hour trail requires a fair level of fitness or a slow pace as there are a lot of steps and some steep inclines. Definitely takes longer than 2-3 hours if you have kids or want to stop for photos as often as we did! Also, a phone torch for some of the passages won't be strong enough - would recommend a proper torch or head torch. Had a great day out and will definitely return!

  • 5/5 Tom G. 8 months ago on Google
It's a really magical and enchanting trail through carefully managed woodland. Every twist and turn surprises and delights. There are nooks and crannies with views, which are great for resting with a cake and a tea from our picnic bag, a big tower to climb up with amazing views, spooky paths underneath twisted ancient rhododendrons, unexpected tunnels, a massive cavern with cliff top view points, an exciting bridge across a magical gulley and an interesting and demanding walk along a sandstone ridge. We spent 4.5 hrs there and we were knackered by the end of it. But very happy. Such a great day out and excellent value. Walking boots are a good idea and there are plenty of places for picnics and stopping for a tea from our flasks. Bring plenty of water and be aware that the cafe closes before the park. We got back to the cafe at 4:30pm but it was closed, so it probably closed at 4pm. We were ready for tea and cake so we went to the Bear Inn in the local village which was very pleasant and did hot drinks. You must visit if you haven't been before.

  • 5/5 Angela J. 9 months ago on Google
This is a must visit. We absolutely loved it. You do need some sort of fitness level. Some of it it steep when you climb some steps and the goes going down. There is also narrow gorges and dark tunnels and caves to explore.

  • 5/5 Claire J. 9 months ago on Google
Our 2nd visit here, we absolutely love this place. A decent walk, not too long but quite strenuous as parts are steep and lots of uneven steps, well worth it though for the views. Plenty to keep the kids occupied as there is so much to explore. A walk up to the top of the tower is well worth it if you've got a head for heights. The caves half way around are good fun to walk through and there are lots of great spots for a picnic along the trail. Definitely not wheelchair or buggy friendly and small children might not make it all the way around, but there is a shorter/easier route back if they are tired. My 8 and 10 year olds thoroughly enjoyed it and the promise of ice cream at the end helped get them back when they were getting tired!

Stunning views and a good walk. You're missing out if you havent been. Lots of large steps on some of the walks but so worth the climb

  • 5/5 Tim L. 3 years ago on Google
Great walk very well set out. 👍 What a lovely find! We were looking for a walk somewhere different on a nice cold winter’s day and found the perfect place. The trails are very well marked from start to finish with plenty of fun spots along the way. We even caught the Santa 🎅 Grotto in the caves so this is 100% getting another visit prior to Christmas in 2021 to make sure we see the big man himself before Christmas Day. The walk is about 2.5 hours going the longest route with a 4yo so good stretch of the legs amongst some great caves and scenery. Bring a torch for the caves, a picnic and enjoy. Awesome.

Enchanting and beautiful, a magical day out with plenty of routes (we’ve tried the harder and easier!). Remember to wear walking boots and bring water! Highly recommend and we will be visiting again.

This really is an iydillic and picturesque attraction just south of Whitchurch with enchanting follies and breathtaking views towards Wales to the West and the Wrekin to the South. There some excellent caves but beware you have a torch with you because it is very dark in places. There are some things for children to do with troll trail. Overall an excellent attraction at a reasonable price of entry.

  • 5/5 Chris L. 3 years ago on Google
Hawkstone Park is a fantastic adventure for the young and old, gorgeous trails set in fascinating surroundings with some amazing scenery but if you take the harder routes it becomes quite a demanding day out. Bring suitable outdoor clothing, torches for the caves and bring lunch due to lockdown rules there are few refreshments available. I would also recommend this is a day out for the fit and able, it would not be a suitable for anyone with mobility issues or pushchairs. It is a great day out the trails and follies and various viewpoints and caves are all fantastic attractions, I cannot recommend this day out enough. Me and my 6 year old took all of the most difficult route options,it took the best of 5 hours. A demanding but highly rewarding day out. Some fantastic memories made.

Great walk with fantastic views and plenty of variety to keep kids interested. Be warned there are lots of steps, climbs and descents.

  • 5/5 Paul W. 3 years ago on Google
Thanks so much to the staff for opening safely and providing the best service they can in the circumstances! Such an enchanting place, with lots to explore and many steeped in history. The walking can be hard going, so I wouldn't recommend for very young children or those not so stable on their feet. Although there is a less difficult walk and picnic areas ... So you don't have to do all walk to enjoy it!

  • 5/5 Sarah B. 3 years ago on Google
First time me and my family have visited the follies, as there is only three of us it was only £20 but if you have a bigger family than three then you have to pay an extra £20 which i feel is a little unfair, at the moment you have to pre book online which is no trouble as we did this on the day we went. We had a great day we were there about four hours in total we walked the whole pathways and the views are beautiful, there are a few little caves to explore so i recommend that you take a torch we also took a small picnic.

  • 5/5 Jess T. 3 years ago on Google

What fun! Lots of little bits to keep the kids entertained and managed to walk 5 miles without really thinking about it because of the regular stops to see little fun things. Nice picnic benches all around too. Take a torch for the caves. There are lots of steps and they are fairly uneven in places. Sturdy shoes required. Fun day out for all the family apart from those not able to walk on uneven/rough ground.

Amazing park to hike around the park. Great for any age, but need to be able to do uneven stairs and surfaces(& best to like heights esp on the bridge). It had some amazing views, especially from Raven's shelf and St Francis Lookout. Lot's to see and do - bridges, monuments, a grotto, tunnels and caves carved into the sandstone cliffs. The map is not very clear. We took the shortest route via the grand valley to Raven's shelf which takes you past Weston arch and through the Clef and the caves etc to the grotto up to Raven's shelf and the Gothic arch. On the way back we took the Swiss bridge but unfortunately missed the retreat and lower path. There are not many clear paths going between the routes. We went to St Francis Lookout and down through the cave which takes you down to the path to Fox's Knob (& the lower path the opposite direction) and past the Reynard's walk and the Urn. It is a lovely park and well worth visiting if you like the outdoors.

A great day out here, worth the travelling. Can be quite challenging at times lots of steep steps. There is a slightly easier route around. There are areas where young children should be kept very close at hand as it is dangerously high up and close to the edge of major drops of over 100ft, it does have rails but still be aware. Some great views to be had and lots of places to stop have your pic nics. £26 for family of 4 entry.
