What an amazing hotel. The level of service was exceptional. All the staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The room was beautifully clean, gorgeous fluffy towels, lovely big bed and very well appointed throughout. The only thing that was missing was some standard plugs for charging you phone by the bed but I believe other rooms did have this.

We celebrated our wedding in the Great Southern this September. We just knew it was the perfect venue for us when we visited first in 2019. We unfortunately had to postpone from 2021 to 2022 due to covid and the Great Southern were a dream to work with even through that period of uncertainty. We had the most amazing experience the morning of the wedding in the Kennedy suite and captured some stunning pictures throughout the hotel. It was the perfect location in the center of Killarney for our guests, we got married in St. Mary's cathedral which is a stone's throw away from the hotel which made everything so seamless and easy for us on the day. The service is exceptional and we can't recommend celebrating your wedding here enough. Every member of staff we spoke with were so kind and considerate which is exactly what you want during the lead up to your wedding. We can't wait to come back and visit the Great Southern again as it will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Had afternoon tea here with my daughter. The Great Southern is a beautiful Hotel, staff are great. We enjoyed our Afternoon Tea, except for the flies we were continually swatting away from our food. I mentioned it to our waitress at the end, who said they were aware of this issue, as other guests had complained about it!!!

The building was exquisite. Great decor and you can tell the building has history which I loved. The rooms were nice and the breakfast was delicious. Loved the all kinds of tea offered and the service there was phenomenal. Would recommend to anyone staying in Killarney!

We had Afternoon Tea to celebrate a family member’s birthday in The Reading Room of the hotel. It’s was a fabulous afternoon. The seer ring, service and food all top class. Loved the little boxes we got to take home anything left. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Very enjoyable and will go again.

I stayed at Great Southern Killarney in June for a couple of days when I visited Killarney with my daughter. The hotel itself is just spectacular with its history and the ambiance. The location was so convenient as we could easily walk to the Killarney town and a couple other nearby tourist spots. The staff was very friendly and we got lucky when we came across Mr. Blissford, their manager, who was very kind to show us around the entire property, its stunning rooms and enlightened us with the history this property offers. We would love to visit and stay at this beautiful place again!

The hotel is a bit worn out and was full of flies for some reason. Their bar food is lovely, expecially chicken wings and apple pie. We had to upgrade our room because the first room looked like a servants bedroom, with 2 separate hot and cold water taps on the sink, and very tired. The next room was much better, larger, with the garden view. Their service is pleasant and efficient. Overall, if you want to stay in the centre of Killarney Town- it's a good option, but I wouldn't be going to the hotel on purpose otherwise.

Stayed here with my Nana as a treat. We had a wonderful time. The warm welcome and friendly atmosphere was lovely. The room was comfortable and very clean with an amazing bathroom. Food was excellent too, particularly breakfast. Nana and I will definitely be back in the near future and we will be recommending the Great Southern to others!

A family lunch to celebrate the lives of our parents. There were 40 guests. The staff at Great Southern could not have been more helpful, both in planning and execution. The food was superb and the service was excellent and considerate in every respect. Thank you so much for making the day so special.

The hotel was four star, room, reception, location etc but dining was disappointing due to the lack of staff on the floor and in kitchen. The staff serving were under pressure and kitchen staff were serving up cold or precooked food in some cases. Management could have been on hand to help out but didn't seem to be around at busy times, staff on the floor we're very nice under such pressure. Reception staff very helpful at all times Room lovely

Checked in on Sunday at 4pm. We had left our bags in earlier so they were already in our room. Room was cold. Checked radiator but it was off. Rang reception but there was no answer so I went outside to corridor where I met a lovely young member of staff. He agreed with me that room was cold so he went and got me an electric heater. I then went to reception and was told heating does not come on until 6pm. Last weekend was very cold - surely the hotel should be better heated - corridors were cold also. At breakfast on Sunday morning I overheard ladies complaining about the cold of their room also. I would expect a lot more comfort from a 4 Star hotel especially at the prices you charge. Seems to me that your hotel has lost a lot of his charm. We checked out on Tuesday. Receptionist never asked if everything had been ok or if we enjoyed our stay - just took our money! By the way we had to use the electric heater for the two days !

A few of my friends and I recently got together to catch up and we had a wonderful evening here. We availed of the bed and breakfast with dinner included package. We also made use of the spa treatments which were heavily. Everything was perfection. We love the hotel for its friendly and relaxing staff and atmosphere.

We stayed in the great southern hotel in Killarney for two nights in November 2023. We had a deluxe garden view room. This hotel is next to none. Not only is it stunning on appearance but the atmosphere is also fantastic. We were instantly greeted on arrival by a lovely man named Sean at the door offering to help with our bags. He greeted us both mornings asking how our evening was the night before and had a lovely witty personality. As he is the first encounter as we entered the property, first impressions definitely lasted because of him. Breakfast was very tasty and room spotless and comfortable. Views are amazing. Close to all amenities and restaurants and shops. Will definitely return!

I stayed at the Great Southern in Killarney for two nights Oct 2023 to attend a wedding. The twin room was very clean, light, warm and airy. The hotel has beautiful gardens and is well situated in town to access local shops, sites and the National Park. The food, bar, restaurant, facilitates, swimming pool and staff were all fantastic. I cannot find one thing to feedback on that would have made the stay or wedding any better! It was a perfect short stay...and I cannot wait to return.

My gosh! We attended a wedding here last weekend and we were blown away with this hotel. Everything was absolutely gorgeous! Cannot wait to go back with the family and explore the acres of parkland and see more of the hotel. We met one of the managers called JP who gave us some of the history and was a true hotelier to meet in the corridor. Thank you JP and all your team we cant wait to come back!!!

Had a truly wonderful hotel. We had a big birthday celebration and we had such a terrific time. Staff so welcoming and friendly. Food amazing. Stayed there many times, even as a child with my Grandmother! Always super.

Had my son's Christening at the hotel. Everything went so smoothly. The attention to detail was second to none. The staff were so attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. There was even a present for our son, which was such a lovely touch. We had a fabulous afternoon. Couldn't praise it enough!

Three friends and I spent 2 nights at the Great Southern Hotel. Our experience was excellent from the moment we checked in at reception to our reluctant departure. The staff were so friendly, professional and attentive. The food was scrumptious.......dinners and breakfast. All 4 of us loved our stay, and we are looking forward to a return visit soon. Location is excellent.

This is really about Browne's bar, which is located inside the hotel (it doesn't seem to have its own listing). We had a late lunch here today. Carpet was a mess - looked like it hadn't been vacuumed since yesterday- but more importantly, food was average ... and that's been generous. My main course was completely overcooked and my wife's dish arrived without potatoes ... just carrots. Work that one out. Staff, while courteous, were very slow. After being given the bill, I waited 12 minutes before asking the bar manager if someone would take my money. This was meant to be a nice, late afternoon Christmas lunch. It was 80€ (including tip) that I will never get back. (While one glass of wine was missing from our bill, we weren't charged for it after bringing it to the attention of the waiter.) I won't be returning anytime soon. (The photo shows the floor under my chair.)

Traditional hospitality at its best - from the welcome at the door with the big warm fireplace and the piano music in the lobby. The afternoon tea is sumptuous and breakfast delicious. Lovely room with a great big bed. Bathroom more than 5 star! Unbeatable friendly service. The putting set is a lovely fun addition. If you ever visit Killarney this is the place to stay.

We were married recently and held our reception at the Great Southern Hotel, I honestly couldn't recommend them enough. Stephen, Julie, Gillian and all the wedding team were fantastic, food was excellent and widely commented on afterwards, the service was exemplary. Was also very well priced which was a lovely bonus. I seriously couldn't fault them on anything, all our guests spoke so highly of everything the following day which is the best compliment! Again, our most sincere thanks for the beautiful day we had, not a thing we'd change! Love Jason and Michelle Spillane

This beautiful hotel has become one of my go-to places when visiting Killarney. Whether for lunch, early dining or evening live entertainment, the decor, family friendly welcome and atmosphere set the scene for a time out break in a very relaxing classically enduring setting that takes you back to a time when the pace of life was slower allowing more time to take in and appreciate the timeless environment. The food has been great quality with the key being a non extensive menu of consistently well presented and tasteful gastronomic dishes. The lounge atmosphere sets the pace of relaxation while the tireless multitasking staff fulfill orders and requests with swift service and capacity for the most discerning customers in mind. Families with children are felt welcome and well accommodated for by the provision of a supervised playroom showing movies for kids and with arts and crafts and play. Follow the hotel lobby to the right and you'll find Browne's bar, serving a great selection of renowned whiskies and local beer. I was fortunate to experience live entertainment at Browne's where even kids danced, much to the amusement of patrons. The grounds are beautifully kept to maintain its timeless Georgian air with weddings a frequent testimony to capture that special day. And what would accompany such a elegant establishment but a fine health spa. Looking forward to my next recharge.

Our first impression of the hotel from the outside excited us.. It was beautiful and made us feel as if we would be staying in a luxury hotel much like the hayfield hotel in cork… unfortunately when we came through the entry door there were people smoking which sadly made the lobby smell of cigarettes.. despite the smell our hopes were still high as we had just come from an exquisite hayfield hotel in cork.. expecting the same level of luxury it came to our surprise to find that this 4.5 star hotel did not have an A/C unit making sleeping very uncomfortable. In result you would have to open the window to let the air in causing us to feel unsafe in our room knowing we could not lock the window. as well as bugs being able to come in. We were also disappointed to find that our room would have two twin beds rather than one bed for us all to fit. The room/bathroom was not as clean as we thought it would be.. the bathroom tile and shower tile had orange soap scum all along the grout along with black mold.. cob webs above the window.. and after taking a closer look at everything we noticed what looked to be male bodily fluids (if you know what i mean) on the bed frame.. my husband and I came with our 10 month old son so to find something like that in our room was a bit mortifying. If I could post pictures I would. The only thing that met our expectations was the hospitality of the staff. safe to say we were not impressed..

First time to a civil wedding. Gosh I would highly recommend considering here. It was flawless so comfortable with a beautiful transion through ceremony, drinks reception, dinner & entertainment. Food was exceptional the only thing I really didn't like was the smashed avocado at breakfast. Otherwise superb. Well done to all involved.

Wow! I've raved about Great Southern ever since we set foot in the door, and I can't wait to visit again. Our suite was immaculate! Every detail was spot on, including a comfy place to rest our heads and top-notch service across the board. Large bouquets of fresh flowers lined the top-floor hallway, making you feel truly at home. The afternoon tea service is out of this world with incredible portions - we each had a stand of our own! The concierge was the best I've seen, particularly Eoin + his teammates. We appreciated all of the arrangements they made for us and personal touches they added to our stay. Truly made us feel like family! The Garden Room staff was also quite personable, remembering details we'd shared and our favorites from their menu. Overall, the entire Great Southern team made Killarney our favorite spot from our Ireland trip! I could not recommend them more.

Was at a wedding here on Saturday, I ended up losing my bag at the end of the night… as well as being an amazing bartender, the lovely lady at the bar also helped me search for my bag! Absolute kind soul and a brilliant representation of the hotel and the wonderful day we had!

Great location within walking distance from the train station, pubs, restaurants and shopping. Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. Our room was on the smaller side, but it was clean and cozy. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, but did take advantage of the morning breakfast in the dining room. While there was not a huge selection at the "buffet", everything was fresh and delicious. The hot breakfast menu also offered a nice selection of additional items to order from. Odd note: they do not provide hair conditioner in the bathroom, nor do they carry it in the hotel, so make sure to pack your own if you use it.

Great spot with just a 5 minute walk from the pubs and shops of Killarney. Friendly staff and beautifully decorated lounge and dining areas. The rooms had everything we needed although appeared a bit dilapidated, with dressers outfitted with drawers that didn't quite fit and wouldn't close. Single elevator in the back of the hotel made getting luggage to our room a chore. Otherwise a charming place in a great location with great staff.

Myself and my wife had a wonderful stay at the Great Southern Hotel. Our sons booked the hotel as a birthday gift for my wife. The moment we step through the door of the hotel we were treated to excellent hospitality service and great food. All the staff were so pleasant and accommodating which created a great atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend a visit if staying in Killarney. The food and staff at the restaurant for our dinner, high tea and breakfast was excellent. Reeve, Martina and Massimo were so pleasant and friendly along with all of the staff who's names i can't remember. Thank you to all.
