We didn't stay here but ate in the hotel restaurant. We couldn't sit outside as it was a very sunny day and busy. The staff were too busy catering for outside and we waited a long time for our food. We both ordered fish and chips and it was awful. My fish batter was so burnt it was inedible and the fish was dried up. I should've sent it back, but having waited 40 minutes for it, I was so hungry I ate what I could. At least the chips and peas were edible. When paying, we mentioned the poor quality to the waiter who didn't seem to care and made no apology to us. How the chef could serve such poor food is unacceptable as it was so obviously burnt. I would definitely not eat here again. I do not like giving bad reviews but this is an exception that needed mentioning due to very poor customer service.

Little post Xmas getaway with herself. Lovely central location. Limited bistro menu. Great breakfast. Top class staff. Good value. Restaurant was very cold while having dinner. Hallways were smelling of damp/mold. No iron in the room. Rooms basic

Great hotel. Great staff - very helpful and patient (all of them, but in particular Kelly 👍👍). Good food on breakfast, and great location - right at the heart of the city near every place that matters - and of course 1 minute walk from Kilkenny castle. In short - a great hotel, highly recommend!! 🙂❤️

We stayed in the townhouse part which take a long and complicated to find the room. The room is located at the basement which doesn't feel comfortable and lack of fresh air, noise cancellation is terrible, you could hear the noise very loud from the street, I couldn't sleep that night. The bathroom is quite big but there is water leaking on the ceiling. Standard breakfast. Parking is extremely annoyed, even though we had a slot reversed but we couldn't get slot on the date, we drove around the hotel from front to back and waited awhile for an empty slot. Location and castle view are consideration of this hotel. We didn't have good time there 😔

Excellent hote. We have been coming here for years but realized it had been nearly 10 years since we had been there. So we had a weekend break which was excellent. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the hot breakfast has very little in the way for veggie / vegan options. Perhaps having some vegan sausages as an option would be a nice option (even if they had to be cooked to order). Anyway, we will be back !

We were at a wedding there in April. We just couldn't fault it in any way. Staff were efficient and helpful in all areas. I forgot my make up bag when checking out. I rang Two days later and they had it safe for me. They offered to courier it to me but because we were away in an other country at that point they kept it safe for me to collect 10 days later all intact.

Nice hotel centrally located and right along the riverside. Rooms are adequate, if a little small and dated. They get hot and stuffy as there is no air conditioning in the rooms, so a restless sleep is guaranteed during the summer. Breakfast was okay, some food was cold and rubbery given it had been sitting out for so long. Staff are very friendly and there's free parking.

I always love visiting the Rivercourt. We had returned for our anniversary after having our wedding reception here the previous year. As always everything was top class. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant, and a beautiful setting to spend the evening relaxing.

Central location and located on river which is lovely. staff are very friendly. But rooms are dated, and to say they are warm and stuffy is understatement. the mostly uncomfortable sleep due to being so warm in the room and also the fire alarm went off twice between midnight and 1am. Will never stay at this hotel

We attended a family gathering recently. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious at the dinner, and breakfast was not only good but plentiful. It did take a while for our coffee order to come but overall very good. The only complaintswe had was the noise at 6am of a delivery truck and a bus leaving early woke us . Also the room was extremely hot a fan was available in the wardrobe but made little difference.

Delightful BUT We were housed in the "townhouse" part facing busy street on first floor all fine until Millers Bar let out. Windows insulated well but not enough. Then at 6am the brewery started throwing empty kegs into their truck. Charming hotel. Bar on the river. Avoid the dreaded townhouses facing the street. Excellent full breakfast

Me and wife was there for one night, room was very outdated, they put us couple in a large cold family room with 3 beds which seemed like a waste, it was very cold and not cosy, room smelled like vomit, paint job in bathroom was the worst I every seen it was all over the mirror, bedroom window would not close probaly and staff member couldn't close it so we heared all the late night noise from tbe bars closing, heating wasn't turn on so the room was cold, marks all over carpet, breakfast was like something you would get in mcdonalds. Was glad to get out of the place. At €260 a night it was a robbery for what we got. I don't know how this is a 4 star hotel. Only think good about it was the friendly staff at breakfast and the location.

Despite the lovely staff, nice breakfast and nicely decorated room two stars are knocked off simply due to a disruptive night sleep. We stayed in the ground floor townhouse room - lovely size but sadly VERY loud on the busy road with both cars and people. Also, due to its ground floor location, we didn’t feel comfortable opening the window and so it was also very warm! I think our stay would have been more enjoyable in another area of the hotel - maybe just avoid the town house.

We had the pleasure of staying at the River Court Hotel for my sisters Wedding last week. From the moment we arrived the treatment was absolutely amazing. Anthony, Noel & all the staff were just incredibly helpful. The food was superb, rooms were comfy & generous size and spotless. We'll definitely be back to visit. *****

We stayed here one night in September. It was a nice room with a beautiful view of the Castle. Breakfast had decent options and the dining room was lovely. Staff were polite and professional. Location was excellent. Parking lot was almost full but there was overflow parking available.

Absolutely stunning hotel, very nice, clean rooms. The restaurant is AMAZING and the staff is all extremely friendly and very kind. The bartender Shane is great, very friendly, and told us quite a few great spots to go see in Kilkenny.

This place was just okay. It didn’t feel like a 4-star hotel. There were cobwebs and stains in our bedroom. The restaurant was meh and the food from the afternoon tea was mediocre. The best thing about this hotel is the location.

We had an amazing stay here over Christmas. We checked in early, were upgraded and had a fantastic view of the Castle. The room was lovely, very spacious and clean — and quiet at night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great too! Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay here! We mentioned it was our anniversary and got a card and small box of chocolates! The room was a decent size and even though there was no air conditioning they provided a fan. The staff was very friendly! We really enjoyed our breakfast and the views can’t be beat!

Lovely hotel in the heart of Kilkenny. We attended for a wedding and the room was a bit pricey at €240 per night. The room was large with tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water. Comfortable bed and beautifully decorated. Really enjoyed our stay

Excellent location! It's walking distance to the Kilkenny Castle and Medieval Mile with an outstanding view. Staff was friendly and let us check in a few hours early. Breakfast buffet was nice with a decent variety, and the best part was the view of the Castle. Room was clean, but wasn't as nicely decorated as the photos on the website, and it did not have a mini fridge or AC. We visited in April, so it was cold enough outside to open the window, but our room was on the first floor overlooking the entrance to the hotel where everyone smoked, so we could not leave our window open due to cigarette smoke, bugs, and lack of safety to our belongings. The staff did provide us with a small desk fan upon request though. It took a while to figure out how to adjust the water temp in the shower (use center knob, not outer handle) and because the shower doesn't have a full door that closes, water easily got all over the bathroom floor. Still giving them 3 stars due to the location and general cleanliness.

Funny enough we actually almost cancelled kilkenny out of our itinerary and 4 towns later .. it’s still my favorite thus far. The hotel was excellent. For anyone looking for a great location and to be in the middle of everything, this hotel is applicable. As a person who likes to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle, I spent a while looking at the map to see if this was walking distance to everything. I still wasn’t quite sure based on the map so I’m leaving this review for others who may be wondering. The entrance and exit driveways are on the Main Street (meaning you are in fact right there). Definitely a prime location and a beautiful hotel! We paid for a river view and it was very quaint. Breakfast was just average but nice that it was included as that can be a big savings in itself! We would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it to others for the nice hotel and the great location! If you are looking for a great, low key spot for food and drinks, Sullivans tap house was some of the best food we have had in so long! Ask to sit in the little warming huts outside for a cool experience :)

My wife and I loved this hotel. It has a vintage feel but is extremely well kept and perfectly located in KillKenny. We had a great view of the river and castle. Free breakfast was great in the morning. The ladies at the front desk were all very helpful and extremely inviting.

We had a lovely stay here for a birthday weekend. The staff were lovely and very accommodating when we had car trouble and had to call the mechanic over to tow the car, even though they told took up so much space in the car park. The rooms were great. Clean, bright, and comfortable. We had views of the castle from every room so I'm glad we paid a little extra for that because it was lovely when everything was lit up at night. I asked the staff to surprise the birthday boy with a cake after dinner (provided by me) the staff obliged with no issues. We had a lot of fun with the staff at dinner that night, even though we did get loud. Sorry about that. We'll behave better next time! I don't have a picture but I do have to give a mention to the door hanger for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, to hang on the outside of the door handle in case there is an emergency, so the staff know to provide extra help. Because I have a disability I always check accessibility of places and this immediately put me at ease and made me so much more comfortable once I was in my room!

Had a one night stay with dinner here at the River Court, an early father's day present. Leaving now and have to say we can't wait to come back. Firstly the room was as good as they come, large, fab views of the river and castle, large comfortable bed and two comfy chairs to sit on while enjoying the view. Food both dinner an breakfast were fabulous. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, went out of their way to help. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you to all and will definitely be back.

A very welcoming atmosphere with the friendliest front of house team. Emma went above and beyond. Bar staff were so nice. Meal was delicious. Room was spotless and bed comfortable. Beautiful view of the Castle.

THE VIEW. It's a clean enough place with decent food (not exceedingly good but not exactly bad either), decent staff (see above) and some amenities missing (eg. no heaters on the terrace). All in all is passable by a decent standard. What sets it apart is the suberb view looking at the river and it's upper bank together with the walls of Kilkenny Castle dominating on top. The view alone is worth going there even if just for drinks.

My partner and I had our big day in Rivercourt Hotel, Kilkenny earlier this year! A big shout out to the event Manager, Sharon Bolger! We were planning this event from overseas and we had high expectations- this team and the venue did not let us down! Sharon and team are wonderful, they were friendly, efficient and attentive. The food was exquisite, lots of attention to detail and planning in the months leading up, and it all showed on the day! The view of the castle is absolutely stunning as well. Thank you so much for everything! Overall, a very positive experience and we highly recommend Rivercourt Hotel, Kilkenny for your special events.

Loved the location, right beside the river and in the heart of the town. Rooms are nice but very warm got a fan with room but didn’t really do much. Food was lovely. Had food in the bar one of nights the bar smelt really bad of damp even though the food was lovely the smell of damp turned me off my food to be honest. The carpet in the bar looks very old and needs to be updated.

Can’t beat the location, right across from the castle. Staff was welcoming and the rooms were large and commercial, no AC but there was a fan. Breakfast was marginal in taste but the staff was attentive. Evening cocktail was garbage…and for €12 I expected better.

For its class the hotel is lovely, well located and pleasantly designed. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The service could have been a little improved (my tea cups haven’t been washed and supplied replenished for two days) and coffee/tea should be improved by self service as waiting to be waited on varies and takes a bit of time.

We stayed here for a night with breakfast the next morning. The hotel is in a perfect location for a city break. We got a room with a castle view which was lovely and quiet, the shower in our room was so good and the bed was comfy. (The room was a well worn in spots but we saw the painters working the next morning so it looks like they are making updates.) The staff were all really nice and helpful. The breakfast was tasty. We'll definitely stay here again in the future.
