We stayed in May and were made welcome by the friendly staff. They even walked with us outside to explain and show us where to locate the car park entry and then walked us through the Hotel ground floor to show us the various services they offer! Fantastic people, clean rooms with a tasty breakfast selection. Highly recommend staying here. We will next time for sure.

My only bad experience was 3 years ago,the bar man, maybe bar manager, got angry when u asked why I was charged full price when the early bird signs were out side, when we ordered he sent staff out really quickly to bring in the signs,I got charged along with my friends over 3.50 extra each.i told him that was not ethical and false advertising, hotel desk staff were very helpful sorting this out,he got angry and slammed the money on the counter very aggressively and walk away sulking like a baby, other than him the rest of the staff were great at there job.one group of women didn't get there finger food on arrival as they were told ,so another fake that weekend. But overall it's okay ,it is what it says it is.

The front desk greeted me with a negative comment on my appearance. I had to go through a pub to get to my room. There was broken glass on the stairs. The room was sealed stating it had been sanitized, which I highly doubt as there was dirt on the wall of the bathroom. The shower leaks with an annoying drip that I asked to be serviced but nothing happened and as the night continues it is becoming stream like. I can hear the pub (like individual conversations with specifics) as if it is in my room and it is currently 1 am on a Wednesday. In addition, the main overhead light does not turn off, when you hit the switch it turns green. Horrible. Too Bright. Loud AF. Don't stay here if you want any sleep.

The staff were beyond excellent from the minute we arrived. The food was amazing and the portions huge. The chocolate strawberries and the box of chocolates in the room was a lovely touch for Valentine's day. Already booked to go back.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Rude front desk staff. Terrible food. The rooms were filthy and disgusting. Beds uncomfortable and lines and pillows smelled terrible. Not deserving of the 3-star status. For reference; I travel 100+ nights annually. I’ve stayed in everything from campsites to 5-star resorts. This place was the worst I’ve ever been. Website is very misleading.

My Fiancée stayed here with his stag party for his stag weekend. They had no complaints about their stay except for the extra guest in the room .... a mouse. I did email the hotel myself to being this to their attention but they did not have the decency to even reply to my email.

Wonderful service, very accommodating! The attached restaurants/bars are super cool too, especially the "super bar" that's built around ruins

Stayed here for a wedding that was being held down the road. Great location rooms were clean for the standard and star level of the hotel. Can be a bit noisy in the mornings if facing the street but great experience overall. Staff are friendly.

Words to explain this Hotel are, clean, quirky, friendly and unbelievable. Situated within easy walking distance to the centre of Kilkenny the welcome was great on arrival. A fantastic and quirky atmosphere created by modern, traditional and mystical architectural interior design. The staff at all levels were friendly and helpful. Good selection of beers and spirits. The food was excellent and plentiful, from breakfast to evening meals. You will not be disappointed if you stay at the Kilford Hotel. A truly delightful and memorable stay. Hat's off to the owner and staff.

What I liked about this place: The location was perfect. The food at dinner was great. The staff were nice. The room was ok although it was small. What I didn't like: It was noisy at night because of the music from the pub downstairs until late. People were talking in the hallway at 3am. Breakfast was average. The water for the shower was very hot and it wasn't possible to adjust. The place was old and not fancy.

I loved my stay at kilford Arms. It's a very unique hotel, and much bigger than I realised. I absolutely loved the breakfast room with it's branches and decor and wooden tables/chairs. Food was really good, decent selection on the menu, breakfast was outstanding. I was disappointed in apple pie and cream very small slice for €6.50. Drinks were fair prices. Rooms are decent size immaculately clean. Receptionist was pleasant and polite. Waiters/waitresses were very obliging and pleasant. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there, and late check out was great. I would definitely return for a longer stay and highly recommend this hotel.

We didn't stay here so can't comment on the food or rooms, there seemed to be plenty of staff around but we still struggled to get a drink as did others around us and it wasn't busy where we were, a glass was knocked off a table across the room from us, and even tho the few people that were there gave a cheer, no one came out to clean it up. It took a member of our group to point it out before someone came to clean it up, and then did a pretty shoddy job, we could still see lots of bits of glass that were missed by the pan and brush. Don't think I'd be rushing back here as impressions on my first visit weren't good.

Location excellent Pub and restaurant lovely with an abundance of character, food was nice and well served. The room needs a deep clean, abit on the grubby and old side...room service consists of throwing blanket over bed and no hoover...Carpet was filthy..grand place if your on a stag/hen for a night's session, but would definitely not come to stay here on a romantic weekend, the room just is not fit for purpose

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It is walking distance to all major Kilkenny sights. The staff bent over backwards with us after our nightmare experience with Priceline. The bartenders gave us the best travel advice and we’re just overall wonderful. It’s also very convenient there are two bars/restaurants connected to the hotel. The room was beatiful and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and shout out to Tom at the bar who gave us such a great insight into Irish culture.

Kilford Arms has a great location and has it's own car park. No need to bother looking for parking which is HUGE! The hotel is very unique with it's cathedral ruins incorporated into the bar and the breakfast area. Staff was very friendly. Our complaint was the room. We had 5 people traveling in our family, and while the room was plenty big with beds for all, it was hot. I mean HOT. Like 20 degrees (F) warmer than the hall. I get that it's an old building with no AC, but sleeping and dressing were very uncomfortable. They gave us an extra fan but it didn't make much difference. The manager said it was because the room was above the kitchen and perhaps that's the reason, but then they shouldn't use that room. We paid a lot of money to not sleep well.

Had an amazing experience on arrival. Front on house staff is friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar had lovely chat with bar man. Food service was excellent. Good choice on menu. Great breakfast again fresh produce etc. Enjoyed so much we wanted to book another night but the duty manager Lisa was degrading and obnoxiously rude. IF that's how she is with a customer I hate to work on her team. When we asked staff who she was we were informed a daughter of owner. Shame she is not trained in hospitality. Great to see that the owner has trained every other member of staff write down to the to the in-house cleaning the breakfast service the bar staff everyone. Ruined our experience sadly. Thank goodness our daughter with special needs was not beside us for the conversation. Thanks again to whom ever checked us in as he was so helpful and full of information. Were also called the establishment prior to booking regarding stay. So to be spoken to in such a manner at front desk when clearly the issue was to do with in house not us as customers.

My goodness , this must be the most depressing hotel in Ireland . No welcome from reception , staff all roaming around frowning and looking lost. Horrible atmosphere , no wonder they are offering cheap deals. The management either haven't a clue or don't care about running a hotel properly . In fairness, the food was decent and a good portion but when it's slapped down on the table it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. I don't think anyone would ever come back, we certainly won't be. Also the room we were given was a mile away from the lift and above the main road. Never got a winks sleep all night due to party goers and traffic. Informed receptionist next day and was told it would be quieter tonight. I asked to change room and she reluctantly agreed. Customer service in this country is non existent . Upon checkout we expected to be asked how was our stay. They never even bothered to ask. Sadly I think this hotel will be in trouble down the line, avoid if you want to enjoy Kilkenny.

Fantastic location, everything on your doorstep. Very friendly and tentative staff. Delicious breakfast and 12pm checkout time. My only disappointment was the dated room we got compared to our friends who got more modern rooms.

Stay here on regular basis for work,Staff are fantastic from reception through to bar and food they are what make it,Rooms are spacious clean and tidy, good WiFi throughout, car park at rear ,lifts to rooms and is very central to the city. If it's old world charm you're after and not an airport bar/hotel then this is for you. Noel

The staff was very friendly and helpful here once got checked in. They directed us to where the room was and the room was very nice. The only thing that I did not like was that our window would not close but in a way it was nice because it was hot in the room. Also, we were higher up so we felt safe knowing that nobody could just come in our room through the window haha! Also they had a breakfast area that was really nice and the food was really good. Had some unique chairs and felt very medieval in there but in the best way possible! Would recommend staying here for sure!

Excellent service, great staff, lovely food, rooms clean and tidy, only letdown, ask if nightclub is open as the rooms reverberate with the music and the hand driers don't work in kilford arm's pub and no towels to dry with, would of had 5stars but for the nightclub, very very loud with boom boom noise,

My evening meal was reheated from lunch. Not enough servers for meal or the bar. We has to clear our own tables of glasses and crockery. No opportunity to order deserts or coffee after dinner. The staff were under severe pressure. Only 2 on for meal and bar. First and last time. Not happy at all.

Stopped in yesterday for lunch there was 7 of us for a hen party we sat down and we all ordered together first of all the wrong order was brought out (on the table for a good 10 minutes before was taken away again) finally 3 meals arrived out so after waiting and asking 3 times the rest of the food was finally brought out and the rest of the group were already finished eating at that point! The food was awful they clearly don’t clean the oil regularly as the chips and goujons all tasted of fish. Staff need some customer service training. Would not recommend at all

Lovely hotel, the staff were so nice.. It was a shame we arrived on a hot day as there was a fan in our room to cool it down. But on a regular cold Irish day this hotel would be perfect.

Attended a meeting there, tea and coffee as a start to meet and greet each other first. Was offered a scone and declined, saying my diet is gluten free, but not to worry. Servant went to kitchen and came back to say,he is sorry himself, but no gluten free scones left in kitchen. So he sent s.o. out to buy a few in. Got 2,warmed and sliced. Overwhelmed. Meeting went well, all facilities clean, to each room plenty toilets, disinfectant. After a dinner, mine gluten free, we all felt well cared for. Great thanks

I have to say I was really surprised as I often thought of here as a place for hens stags. But we stayed for a nearby wedding. The room was lovely. Very comfortable bed, n pillows. I'm always pillow fussy. Great food n service.

The staff were very nice, EXCEPT! For the blond haird lady behind the desk ( I think she was the manger) , she was very disrespectful and when I politely asked her why she needed all the information about me, which I had already signed she pull the form out of my hand and said "fill it out or you won't be staying in my hotel ". There is also a question asking what country I was from,, why is that a question, why do they need to know what country I'm from,, I found this very racist and disrespectful, we are all human why does it matter where I'm from?, that said it's a nice hotel apart from that HORRIBLE BLOND LADY who probably has no friends because shes a horrible human being, Kind regards Bob Freeman.
