Beautiful abbey that is smaller and quieter than the bigger cathedrals in town, but no less impressive. The stained glass is especially striking and worth a visit for that alone.

This early 13th Cent. Dominican church is not black at all - it is rather beautiful, with great colorful stained glass works. Its name comes from the black cloak Dominican friars used to wear . Don't miss .

This is one of my favourite Abbeys to visit and the fact that it is not a ruin but a living, breathing building continuing to function as was it's purpose is brilliant. The atmosphere is serene and the stained glass old and new are transforming the interior especially the Rosary window. The sculpture of the Holy Trinity from 1262 Is so unusual in its representation showing God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit three in one. Spend some time in this Dominican Abbey and absorb the centuries of history, prayers and faith that are surrounding you.

Colorfully Vibrant & Peaceful! Please don't let the name keep you from enjoying this oasis in the city. The abbey is a peaceful place to reflect, experience His presence, and admire the vibrant stain-glass windows. There are other interesting historic religious artifacts, however the abbey's endearing asset is its stain-glass windows.

Very peaceful, atmospheric church. Beautiful stained glass and some extraordinary statues including an alabaster statue of the trinity from the 13th century.

Beautiful church, that was gracious enough to let our tour walk through it.

Splendid old Abbey. The wood in stark contrast to the dark stone and vibrant diverse stained glass windows. Plenty of ancient religious artefacts to view too.

There are many many old cathedrals in the area and this may be one of the older ones but it wasn't anything particularly remarkable. The stained glass was nice but St Canice Cathedral is right down the street and has one of the oldest tallest towers in the country and the only one that lets you climb to the very top.

This abbey is stunning and has been kept in magnificent shape! The stain glass windows are gorgeous with a few almost from the ground to the ceiling - very large. Beautiful stone work, stunning ceilings and archways. It’s such a privilege being able to see such a beautiful abbey in such great shape and very well kept stain glass.
