Beautiful Cathedral in a stunning old town. This is a beautiful old cathedral. Not the grandest but inside and outside are delightfully pretty and the ancient stonework is in superb condition. It looks really neat with the tower which is interesting in itself and a good climb. The views from the top is great but not brilliant...you can see the city but it is pretty flat. Helpful staff and entry is 4€ to the cathedral and tower...that’s all I paid anyway. My visit: 15th October 2018.

We had to visit this Round Tower because it's allegedly only one of two that you are able to climb to the top of in all of Ireland. The cost was only a few Euros, and there are sturdy step-ladders to take you to the top. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, but I am able-bodied and not that freaked out by heights. At the top is one of the best views in all of Kilkenny. There's a map that shows all of the notable buildings in the area. Add it to your list!

We had booked online tickets which costs 1€ more than offline tickets for the round tower and were first in the queue. After we got inside the tower we were told that we need to get the printed tickets from inside of the cathedral by showing the online tickets. This was not told to us before hand. Instead they could have had a scanner to scan the online tickets. We then got down and went to collect the paper tickets. When we came back we were told the tower is full, so we were asked to wait for 10 mins or so until somebody gets out. Felt like we were penalized for buying tickets online. We were better off purchasing it on the venue. Climbing the tower in itself was a nice experience. Good view of Kilkenny city from the top.

Well-preserved cathedral. A lot of information about its story is provided. For the brave there is also a nice but paid, view from the tower. All in all very nice, but not cheap. But if you like this kind of history stuff, it's totally worth it. For the climb onto the tower you need to be fit and free from giddiness.

A medieval Cathedral that has been restored and is still used for worship. It's beautiful, tasteful and the audio tour was incredibly informative not only about the cathedral, but also about Kilkenny history. I was unsure about doing an audio tour of an active worship space, but 10/10 recommend!! It's fascinating, and the self guided audio tour is top notch! While you’re here if you’re not claustrophobic or scared of heights be sure to climb the tower. It was the highlight of our trip to Kilkenny…. And the thing I didn’t know or think I could do until I did it. It’s basically several ladders… not as bad as I thought, but not for the faint of heart. View it worth it!

A very impressive place with an interesting history. A combination of the Celtic stories with Christianity, many special things to see. Climbing the tower is suitable for older children. The tower is impressive and the view there is stunning. Everything is very well kept and clean.

Very cool! One of only two climbable round towers in Ireland. It is also the second longest cathedral in Ireland. Beautiful! Very knowledgeable staff, we asked a bunch of questions, and they answered them all.

Wonderfull place to visit, amazing stained glass windows and lots of internal carved figure tombs. You can light a candle and say a prayer 🙏. Plenty to look at inside and out. Also you can pay to walk up the tall tower for a view of the surounding town.5 euros. And 5 euros to go inside the cathedral.

It's a must visit cathedral in Kilkenny :) Very warm in tone and romantic (dreamy) inside. The stain glasses and meticulous artwork inside makes it unique. It also comes with rich history which is worth listening to during the guided tour. We visited it yesterday with our American friends and they were delighted:)

Definitely check this out. For the brave, climb the 100 ft tower. Senior rates available.

Went through the chapel said to be the most restored ancient castle in Ireland. Climed the round tower and took some incredible pictures of Kilkenny and some of its features of interest.

Beautiful cathedral with an amazing tower to climb. Interesting history as well (self guided tour). Note the visiting time if visiting on Sundays.

There is so much for a person to see in Ireland. I particularly liked this location because of the self-guided tour. To top it off you can climb the tower to the top. One of my favorite views...

A must see when in Limerick. They have self guided tour inside the church, so mucj to see and appreciate. They have robust history telling from the founding times. Tickets are reasonable, and going up to the Tower is a way to get 360 view of the whole city and beyond. Staff were very nice, pleasant and conversant.

I enjoyed my visit to the cathedral very much & didn't begrudge the entrance fee. The person on the admissions desk/gift shop was very helpful. I discovered that St Candice's is a Church of Ireland (Anglican/Episcopalian) cathedral, the second longest medieval cathedral in Ireland. It was built in two phases beginning around 1202 and took nearly 100 years to complete. The thousand-year old Round Tower which stands just outside the cathedral is the oldest building in the city of Kilkenny. The tower is one of only two in the world that can still be climbed. I decided against this as it was an exceedingly hot day.

Beautiful old church that offers a self tour and a tower to climb with views of the city. Even if not doing the tour of the cathedral, it’s still worth a visit to explore the cemetery surrounding it.

The round tower is a must! The view from there on a day with good visibility is gorgeous! I just fail to see why you should pay to enter this church when two other just as beautiful church are within walking distance 🤷

A very beautiful place, both the church and to tower. The interior of the church offers alot for the eyes and history for the head. The tower is amazing too, a great view of Kilkenny from the top. €7 for a combined ticket is well worth it.

Beautiful Cathedral in terms of architecture and build. From the exterior, looks well maintained. Couldn't go inside the Cathedral or Round Tower as it was closed for visitors the day I went.

Definitely one of the best attractions in the town of Kilkenny, great place to both have living worship as well as enjoy historical significance and architecture. The tower is a must see as it gives you an amazing view of the small town and former medieval settlement

Beautifully Cathedral in the centre of Kilkenny. The best place to visit with your family in a sunny summer day. Actually all the little hiding roads behind the cathedral are very beautiful and they have a very special vibe. I enjoyed it 🍀🍀🍀

Beautifully restored piece of ancient history. The staff were very helpful. The tour is both the cathedral and tower. Beware of windy days. This is a church mostly where services are still held. The ancient tombs inside are amazing. Don't forget to look on the floor and up at the amazing roof
