Incredibly expensive place. I had a tiny coffee and it cost €4.35. Poor vegan options, particularly cakes to go with the coffee. Given the prices they charge I would expect a much better selection and accommodation of dietary needs. The shop had a nice selection of clothes and furnishings. It was disappointing though that for all of their focus on responsibly sourced cotton, they are not above using labour in Bangladesh.

Eye watering prices for distinctly mediocre food. I think paying upwards of €16 for a salad predisposes other reviewers to think the food is better than it actually is. A bit how many Americans view Donald Trump; we paid so much for it, it must be good. The coffee isn't bad but it's not great neither. Service is slow.

Avoca is always a nice place to go and I've been there many times but I wanted to leave the review today because I had the best service ever. I was there around 15h30 and I don't know the name of the lady but I hope you guys can find out by the time. She was at the till on the right side ( further away from the coffee area). What a pleasant person, so polite, helpful, friendly and smiling. In a world where people write a lot to complains I wanted to make sure that you guys get this review. Last time I was there the service was completely different, the young lady barely looked at my face and was in a bad mood so you guys should reward your good staff like this lady today. The shop is amazing and I highly recommend to everyone, the amount of products and the quality... All amazing. But again, I want to say thank you to the lovely lady to make everyone's day much happier.

Dropped in for coffee, the food here is gorgeous but way overpriced, service was good and efficient. It’s attached to an Avoca shop, so it’s aimed at those looking for artisan goods and priced accordingly. It’s worth a visit though if you are in and about Malahide Castle

Nice coffee shop they also have multiple ready made sandwiches and salads in a separate cooler. No waiting in line to order. However we decided to order from the deli case ready made sandwiches also a big piece of chocolate and cream raspberry cake. All the food was so yummy. The have many drinks to choose from colas juices and of course coffee ans tea. They also have a very nice boutique with many gift ideas.

This place is quite big and kid friendly. Food and coffee a bit pricey which is usual.for restaurants near an attraction, (the malahide castle). There are lots of varieties of souvenirs, gifts, clothings, home decorations and other things. Of course, there's this bakery inside also and a cafe. We've tried some of their cakes and for me it is too sweet. It was ok.

Avoca has good food but Jaypers it's very expensive. 4 euro for a small coffee. 4 euro for a scone. I know it's my choice to eat there but based on that experience I'll be getting coffee and scones elsewhere next time in in the area. It's like 5 star hotel prices.

Always a pleasure to come to Avoca. Perfect coffees, fun selection of specialty brands in the grocery area and both the to-go and sit down provide amazing breakfast, lunch/dinner, smack and dessert options. Little pricey in the cafe but the food is really great so I'm never disappointed for the (sometimes) sticker shock. Coffee prices are on par with anything local making grabbing one for a walk in the castle grounds always a good bet. The outside seating area is my favorite overlooking the butterfly garden and free roaming peacocks. 🤗

Food prices are high and food quality varies frankly. Overall, not a bad place to go during no peak hours aka, lunch or dinner times... But otherwise expect to have to wait in line to order your food and look for a table. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Can be very busy especially at weekends so be prepared to queue if you want to eat indoors. Great selection of food and cakes/deserts. Some say it is over priced but you get what you pay for.

Food is fairly overpriced and can be extremely busy (so things aren’t very clean there). 3/5 because the staff are friendly, they have some beautiful walks nearby around the grounds of Malahide castle plus retail unit beside Avoca. A good place to spend an afternoon on a fairly rainy day 😃

Great food and a great store. They have meat, soup, crackers amd delicious breads. Everything you could need for a dinner party. I'll definitely be back here, specifically for the sausage rolls!

Bustling lunchtime spot during the middle of the day. Situated on the Malahide Castle grounds with a very nice shopping area for clothing and such. Plenty of options for food and sweets too. My coffee was good and the sausage roll was very tasty! Worth stopping after walking the 250 acre castle grounds. Already decorated for Christmas in mid-November!

I really enjoyed Avoca. Its like a fancy cafeteria. They did have a bit of a misleading menu item claiming it was a vegan "burger" but there was no bun it was just a vegan "patty" a burger definitely needs a bun at the very least. They had some lovely vegan friendly salads and many options for non vegans as well. Great if your meeting up with friends and family before a nice walk around the castle.

There's a large selection of cakes, which made my life really hard when it was time to choose. I ended up ordering a cake and a cupcake. I found the coffee & walnut cake good but not my favorite in terms of ratio of cream vs sponge. I also found the sponge imbued a little bit too much in some liquid. The culcake was super tasty

I want to love this place but I'm not sure if i can. Yes its really cute and cosy but it's just so expensive to the point where i feel guilty going there 🤷‍♀️. However i do love their hot chocolate (hehe). I've tried a few of the bakery item's before and they always turn out very dry which is unsettling. To leave it on a good note the staff is really nice and the place is very pretty and always clean.

Really lovely restaurant and shopping experience as well as the opportunity to visit the Castle. However, everything was expensive. The servings of meals, cakes, biscuits etc were far too big. You could easily share one between two. The food, clothing and accessories on sale in the shop are definitely aimed at the top of the market.

First time going to Avoca Malahide while visiting Ireland with my family. The store has a wide range of items, from clothing to house items. Our original goal was to have lunch at the cafe that also has a variety of items, with a few picked for gluten and lactose intolerant. One meal dish can serve two people or can take home as leftovers. I expected a little more of tastiness but overall it was ok. It is a kid friendly place with high chairs and space for kids to walk around when accompanied by their parents.

Insanely expensive. We spent €20 on two pieces of cake, that were really nowhere near worth it. The chocolate cake was dense, and the apples in the apple pie were raw. We were told we arrived in between Breakfast and lunch so couldn't order hot food, which was fine. But what was on offer was nowhere near worth the price charged. I do think you can charge that for cakes IF they are better prepared. Food hall has a nice selection. Clothes area had nice looking stuff. But it's all so very expensive.

It is a great place to get some food and drinks while visiting Malahide Castle. They have a great range of vegetarian options as well, extra point for that. They also display many Irish businesses, from toys to kitchen supplies to cheese and more.

A favorite lunch and tea spot in Malahide. Especially if you're meeting up with friends or family. A great space, with space to feel safe.

  • 5/5 Gerry S. 2 years ago on Google
The food is always of a high standard here. It's typically busy either side of lunch, so best to allow for additional time to queue and find a seat. The desserts are always great too!

Nice setting on the grounds of Malahide Castle. Good value however it is not. Breakfast there is very overpriced these days and can't help feeling the wider food choices not as good as they used to be. Avoca was always a little more expensive but the quality of the food justified it in the main. Coffee still good so if that's all your after why not try.

Nice selection for lunch, breakfast, coffee break, desserts. It’s pricey and the service is slow (self service) hence 4 stars. The seating area is very spacious. It has indoor as well as outdoor heated seating facing the butterfly garden. I had the strawberry meringue roulade , was a very fulfilling portion, a bit too heavy with all the cream but the meringue was amazing!!

Went for lunch with wife and kids. Dealing with the indoor dining restrictions well. Bit of a long queue but was moving. Kids loved the spaghetti Bolognese and myself and my wife had some lovely salads with home cooked ham and baked potatoes. Prices a slight bit more expensive than regular cafe prices but we were happy to pay that as always as it's beautifully presented and super fresh. Nice treat.

Great addition to Malahide Castle from where to book castle tours and after have a bite to eat in the restaurant where is nice to hang out and over see the garden especially if seated outdoors. Also has a nice small shopping area to browse with top quality items and a food/grocery store to tempt. Well worth a look!
