Edit: After calling to let them know how bad it was and being told I was wrong, that no one else complains, and being offered no refund, credit, or better food, I'm changing this to 1 star. Not sure what happened to treating others with respect and kindness, but I was the only respectful, kind person in any of the 5 interactions I had with the people of this place today. Lived nearby for almost 6 years now and had never tried this place so decided to treat myself tonight. I usually order from Jasmine/Karta Thai which is always perfect and delicious, but chose to take a chance on Mai Thai. I really hate to do this because it's a small, local business and seems to be family owned and run. However, I paid $35 for unflavored rice basically. When I called to order, a young-sounding, irritated to have to be working, voice took my order and didn't have any customer service type niceties at all. I kind of felt like I was bugging them by calling. The Shaking Beef tastes literally like little chunks of beef with soy sauce on them. No other flavors I could pick up, and the huge majority of the styrofoam container is "fried" rice. The rice also has no flavor. I got Thai Fried Rice as well and it also has almost no flavor at all. I got an order of spring rolls and for some reason they were fried and not fresh as I asked for. However, although I'm not usually a fan of fried spring rolls, these are pretty good and flavorful! (Which is why the two stars and not just one.) The "peanut sauce" for them is just fish sauce with chopped up peanuts in it though. I am super disappointed for multiple reasons. I really wanted it to be good because money is a bit tight and I don't get to order Thai often, but also, I wanted to support and promote a small local business. I'm just bummed and now have to figure out another dinner option. Flavorless rice isn't gonna cut it.

Very disappointed. Was craving Thai and really hoped this place would live up to the reviews. The curry fried rice was ok but the shrimp was under cooked. I asked for volcanic hot and they just threw a bunch of chilli pepper flakes on top (was hoping for some Thai or ghost peppers). Wife had the pad see yew - it was so bland she stopped eating after 2 bites. Only redeeming dish was my son's fried pork spring rolls. Sorry Mai Thai, you can do better.

Greeted with great customer service throughout the entire meal. Summer rolls were fresh and flavorful, I paired them with the fish sauce and was a great appraiser. The chicken red curry was so good I was thinking about it on my way home and destroyed the leftovers.

I absolutely love Thai food and seek it out often. The green curry was amazing. Shrimp spring rolls were good so was the chicken satay! Would recommend!

They make the best green curry I’ve ever had. There was a variety of vegetables and they were cooked thoroughly. The spice level was exactly what I asked for. Great service! I will definitely be going back.

If i could give this "restaurant" zero stars i would. Quite literally the WORST food i have ever ordered. The food waa bland and what did have flavor was disgusting. Oh and i must mention it made my entire family sick for days! We paid $70 for food poisoning. 0 outta 10 will NEVER recommend.

Our Take-Out Order: Pork Fried Spring Rolls, Sweet Green Curry, Masuman Curry, Sweet and Sour Battered Chicken. Everything was good and flavorful. Spring rolls were heavy with egg, which was a little different for us, but very delicious. One thing that was also different but much appreciated was that the chicken wasn't tossed in the sweet and sour sauce, they came separate. At first I was confused but it actually made the dish better.

I feel like this place gets overlooked because it's not in a prime location - but the food is awesome, and our orders have always been made quickly. Hidden gem!

The food was excellent. Chicken Pad Thai was seasoned to perfection. Thai tea had great flavor. Definitely some of the best Thai food I’ve had in the Twin Cities. And the to-go boxes were high quality.

Fantastic Flavorful Food!!! It was a delight coming in to eat here. The drunken noodles were fantastic. The Thai fried rice was fantastic. We will definitely be back. Out of 10 I would give it a 9. It surprised us so much. Thank you for the meal!

Not for me. I don’t understand the high praise people lavish on this place. It’s not great food. It’s below average quality. Thai Curry House is Burnsville is light years better than this place. Visiting once was more than enough.

Classic reliable haunt with good service, great food at a reasonable price. I love the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken noodles), they use the real wide noodles. But you can’t really go wrong. Curries, fried rice/noodles, apps, chicken satay… all delicious. Love the classic family dining atmosphere too. Great for a regular take out spot too with one of the easiest to navigate online ordering I’ve encountered!

A must-try in the north Minneapolis/Robbinsdale area. Delicious food and excellent service. Beware the spice levels though- they take it seriously. A three was too much for me and I have pretty high tolerance.

Okay, I went for lunch on Friday for the very first time and I have to say, I’m a little upset I hadn't come sooner. I was immediately greeted and treated so kindly. I had the tham Ka soup recommended by my server and omg she is truly a gem for the recommendation, I may not be spelling the name of the soup correct but I will never forget the name. One of the best soups I’ve ever tried. Perfect amount of spice, veggies and the chicken was so juicy. I also had the veggie egg rolls and fried chicken and all of it was yummy oh and the Thai iced coffee was amazing, I also had the sweet sticky rice with mango, super fresh and it was my first time having sweet sticky rice and it wasn’t too sweet just the perfect amount. It’s very rare that I enjoy EVERYTHING I try but this was one of those experiences, not to mention the restaurant was super clean and my server was so sweet and personable. I literally lived everything about my dining experience and will for sure be back. It’s also not expensive at all. This restaurant deserves All the stars.

I'm from West Palm Beach Florida, and friends took me here for lunch. It was the best pad Thai I've had in many years. And I've got a really good Thai restaurant next to my house, and I wish it was as good as this place!

What a gem! Ordered egg rolls, two noodle entrees and sweet mango sticky rice. ALL fantastic, excellent quality and large portions. We had leftovers for the next day. They also serve a very tasty brand of hot tea (green and black). Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend both the Pad See Iew and the Pad Thai.

There's literally no negative things to say about this spot. Every dish is absolute fire. It's fantastic. The Pad See Mao is perfect. All their curries are loaded, but my favorite is Green with shrimp spice level 3. Best fried spring rolls around.

I recently had unfortunate experience of dining Mai Thai. My vist was marred by several issues that i cannot overlook. To begin with, i found hair in both rice and appetizer. This not only compromise the taste and presentation of the dishes but also raised concerns about hygiene practices within the restaurant. It was disheartening to encounter this problem multiple times during my meal. Moreover, the water served at my table contained an unknown material. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress, her response, claiming it was "minerals" was unsatisfactory. Transparency and assurance regarding the saftety of food and beverages are crucial, and thid incident left me feeling uneasy. Aside from these hygiene concerns, the food itself was average. The lack of distinct flavors and creative flair left much to be desired. Considering the recurrence of the hair incidents, they offered $4 (one thai tea) discount felt inadequate and did not address the underlying problem.

Not the worst, just kind of meh? All spice with no real flavor and the sauce for cream cheese wontons had been dumped out, sogging everything. Likely won't order from here again.

I ordered the Drunken noodles and they were amazing! The flavour was great, and the actual noodle was perfect! Definitely my go to item now! Can’t wait to go back!

I was nervous about eating here because it was so deserted. We were the only people eating in the restaurant and I saw only one take-out order. This was a Monday night. I'm glad we stayed because the food was delicious. I had a curry dish with mock duck. The service was pleasant and prompt.

Worst food I've had at a restaurant... my dad had never had Tom Ka soup (coconut soup) and I had been raving about the magical flavors the dish can offer from Legit Thai restaurants or even making it at home (its not hard!) So i ordered that straight away as it said required 20 min to make. We made our selections from the menu and waited minuets before she took our order (red curry tofu, pad thai chicken, cranberry curry duck) Shortly later our soup came... and I knew as soon as i saw the white broth that it wasnt gonna be good. What we recieved was something like someones bad and literal interpretation of "coconut soup." All it was, was warm coconut milk, basic vegetables, and tofu. No spices, no lime, no fish sauce, no lemon grass... No Flavor. Nothing. I was so embarrassed especially because this was a $14 dish!!! It should have been $5, if that... oh and ya know how i mentioned we wanted to share it? Well it came out in 1 bowl but she did come back with 2 for us to split between ourselves awkwardly... We suffered through the "coconut soup" because we were hungry then stacked our bowls to be collected. Finally my thai iced tea came (which was the only good thing we had) but the waitress didn't collect the bowls... we waited. Then she came with just the red curry dish with chicken... my vegitation dad was appalled. So... we waited another 15 minutes for Just the pad thai. We waited 2 minutes, expecting the next two dishes to come. Nope. So my fiance started to eat. He said the sauce was extremely overpowering, oddly flavored, and super soggy. He could only eat the chicken which was warm with cold parts (probly sat out after the mix up) finally when our currys came out (2 min after another) we told her to take the bowls as they were STILL uncollected as well as the Pad Thai cuase it was disgusting and inedible. We also expressed how poor the soup was... I shared my cranberry duck curry with my fiance as he had nothing to ear. The currys flavor was ok. Nothing special. At least there was spice and flavor. But the duck.. yuck 😭 it was spongy and icky. So we didn't even eat that. Just so dissapointed... The service was slow ontop of everything. I had to get the 3rd set of silverware myself. $58 for everything. Waste of money. I could have made better food at home. I'm angry with myself for not demanding the nasty pad thai and nasty duck removed from the bill. THIS IS NOT A GOOD REPRESENTATION OF THAI FOOD 😡
