I LOVE the state fair. Food, beer, vendors, parades, animals, concerts (although this years line up leaves much to be desired), and MORE. I go at least twice every year and have been doing so for 30ish years. The worst year was the one where there was no state fair.

The best state fair I have ever been to. The family friendly environment was such a delight. The food was good. The cost of the kids rides is outrageous. Many ride required an adult purchase as well. That’s not bad unless it's a total of 10$ for a simple kids ride. The staff was all really friendly. So much fun to be had.

The Minnesota State Fair was so awesome! I've only been to the Wisconsin State Fair. It cost 18 dollars per adult and 16 dollars for kids 3 to 13 years. Parking was awful and took us forever to find but we ended up paying 30 dollars which was reasonable and the guy Mark was friendly and from Wisconsin. Added bonus! So many activities for kids. Lots and lots of people and tons of walking. Good food and cookies. We got to pet a Bengal cat and watch a dog get spayed. Plenty of restrooms. Some shopping and plenty of food and beverages. Was a beautiful day overall. Enjoyed the little parade too. Friendly people. We had a blast! I definitely recommend going here. I really enjoyed my time here and it is so different from the Wisconsin State Fair.

Wow, it's a scene, Baby! Great for people watching and bad food. Lots to see. Short on music options aside from the Grandstand and a few random bands playing. Lots of space to spread the crowds. Since I'm not into the carnival rides, you could easily cover this in a day. $18/person entry. Parked and took shuttle bus for free by Gloria Dei church. That was super easy and convenient.

Although the Texas State Fair may cover more acreage and days, there is no competition; Minnesota has the best state fair. Ideally, I'd plan to visit at least two days and spend about 6-7 hours a day to prevent burnout but you could truly visit every single day and have a blast! Pro tip: utilize a park n ride versus paying $40 bucks or waiting an hour in line trying to park in a fair lot. Save that money and time for more food at the fair!

I was on assignment in the state of Minnesota while the fair was happening, and I am so glad! I've been to 7 different state fairs and this is BY FAR my favorite! I loved it so much that I went twice. Everyone should make the trip out here! My only complaint is that the Butterfly House is not supervised very well so tons of people grab the butterflies by their wings. If you're visiting, I highly recommend you use their shuttle system!

Bought a ticket in a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Although it was busy with a lot of folks, the walking was fairly spread out, not crowded. Rode some rides, sipped some local brews, ate some food, saw some livestock. Good job MN!

What can I say? I’ve worked at the pickle booth three times this week and am tired, but want to go back. Every year, I have to schedule something else to do, otherwise I’ll go back and spend too much money. In 2022, it costs $17.00 to get into the gate (but well worth it) but I bought the family’s tickets ahead of time at Cub Foods, for a discount. And actually, you can pack your own lunch, snacks and whatever other supplies you need— I spent literally $0 the first two days. Take the (sometimes free!) shuttle buses; parking is expensive with long lines. Buses are the way to go. Check the extensive and easy to use State Fair website. Things I like to see/do every year: -Horses (barn and free shows in the Lee and Rose Warner Coliseum) -Miracle of Birth farm babies barn -Horticulture building (flower display. Some people like the seed/crop art) -The girl in butter (butter sculptures) Dairy building (I hear the shakes are good too) -Fine Arts -Creative Arts -Lots of free pencils, ‘swag’ in the Education building (and student art) -I hear there’s a llama costume show near the animal barns, but I’ve never caught it. (Check the website schedule). ••All that being said, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s packed on the weekends and even 10:00 am on a weekday has plenty of people. Check out the peaceful Mn path by the DNR building or the Fine Arts building for a break. Get there within the fair via two different enjoyable /air conditioned sky rides or maybe the free trolley. You’ll be walking a lot unless you rent an on-site scooter. I usually go by 9:00; leave by 3:00. It’s a different vibe at night; I rarely ever go to the Midway.

The Minnesota state fair is an annual tradition when millions of guests explore different things. If you like to eat traditional for state fair food, drinking a beer and doing fun, you should come. Just remember, it is happening every year, but only few days at the end of summer! 🤪🎶

It is such a great time going to the fair...we were going to take the express bus from Minnetonka but the lot and overflow lots were full....but we got there! The sights, sounds, food were all great!!! If you do not like crowds...don't go!

This was my 1st time at the Fair. I went on the final day which is Labor Day. I parked my car at a satellite parking lot 20 minutes away. The charter bus was clean and on a regular schedule to bring folks from the parking lot to Gate 5 at the fair. Getting a ticket at the gate was a pretty fast experience, especially with the amount of people entering the fairgrounds. I had a fabulous day looking at the different exhibits and attractions. I really enjoyed the agriculture building. As part of the experience I was able to find some vegan meals which were part of the Bargain Discount Book some folks gave to me. And I found the staff very friendly and helpful, especially in my quest to find Sweet Martha's Chocolate Chip Cookie stand. By the time 8pm came, I was quite satisfied with my 1st Minnesota State Fair. And my ride back to the satellite parking lot was hassle free!

The MN state fair is a time-honored annual tradition to be embraced with the upmost enthusiasm. My first fair experience was in 2013. I had just moved to Minnesota from the East Coast, and the fair was a total culture shock. I didn’t know what to make of it. As the years have gone on, I’ve come to adore the Fair and everything that comes with it… the inventive fried food, the people watching, the animals giving birth, the butter sculptures, the smells. It’s an odd combination of intense stimulation and wholesome fun. The Fair is a magical place, and I’d recommend a visit to anyone who feels like a kid at heart and who is willing to embrace heat, crowds, and inflated prices. Worth it in my book.

Definitely worth the annual trip, if you can get over the crowds and prices. It's a tradition for the locals with their family. Biggest tip is take the bus or park & ride but be mindful of start/end hours. Loads of Different and variety of food items to try!!! If you interested in Cattle/goat production is an alternative livestock enterprise suitable for many small-scale or part-time livestock operations. Pig/ Horse farming includes.

I attended the state fair for the first time and totally enjoyed it. The crowd was massive. The best part is they had a pick up and drop facility which made it convenient. A day wasn't really sufficient to explore the whole fair. Loved the games and food.

The state fair is always fun Sure everything is overpriced, but most of the food and drinks are great. Several new foods and beers to try. The people watching is amazing here. Everyone from every corner of life is here. Just be prepared to wait in lines for everything. We went pretty high and enjoyed the Garlic cream cheese wontons, 3 different times. A lot of good new bees, and classic ones like the chocolate chip cookie beer. The rides are fun, and so was the seeing all the animals. The only downside is the parents that act entitled with the strollers. They think they have the right of way on everything. Stop. It. You don’t. Leave your kids at home. They’re too young that they won’t even remember it. Make it fun for everyone, not miserable like you guys are.

Wow! The Minneapolis State Fair lived up to its hype! You could literally spend weeks exploring the Fairgrounds, but unfortunately it's only open for 12 days each year. The State Fair has entertainment for everyone -- farm animals and rides for kids, plenty of alcohol options for adults, and SO much food! We visited on a Sunday, and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too crowded, and there were still plenty of benches and sitting areas. Pro Tip: Pace yourself! If you stop and get food from every stand that looks good, you'll be full before you even see 25% of the Fairgrounds! I'll see you next year!!

I was surprised by how clean this fair was after seeing other fairs. There were constantly people picking up trash and it was pretty nice. I was in love with how helpful information booths were how mostly nice people were at food booths. People aren’t lying when they said food is very expensive here. We spent $200 easily with two people after being determined to try all of our favorites. This was amazing. Parking though… absolutely insane. Come early. And parking was confusing… ended up parking in someone’s driveway for $30 which ended up being well worth it after being confused about where the grounds parking was anyways. Saved some valuable time. We went right when it opened until about 6pm and didn’t regret a single moment. Pictured some of the absolute favorite must-stop-by places. Babas humus we loved so much we went to their recently opened restaurant.
