This mall has joined with many other malls around the country struggling to survive. A majority of the stores are empty. There is even one portion entirely closed. The food court is nearly empty as well. There is a Bath & Body Works and a Target, but there is not much else.

It was so empty, but nice atmosphere all the same. I thought for sure it would be crowded being the Memorial holiday weekend but the weather kinda sucked so that's probably why people weren't out. I did buy a funnel cake that took 15 to 20 mins to make but I was the only customer. Also it was fried so hard there was no way I could eat it. 😫 I didn't find out until I was in the car leaving the mall. Straight rip off but whatever. I probably shouldn't have been eating that anyhow. I'd definitely go back once the world open up fully.

Ever want to see what a post apocalyptic world would look like? Well look no further! The mall was empty on black Friday. Which is insane. No sales or deals going on. A few decorations and the food court only had a few places that refuse to give in and go to the light. The music echoed around and I thought perhaps it was closed and they forgot to lock the doors. The few shops that were still there were open and had people working but they could have been ghost of the lost souls trapped in retail hell. I found one security guard asleep on a bench, no joke, snoring. Before I realized it was mall security, I assumed it was a homeless man just trying to get out of the rain and cold. Amazon really did a number on malls all over. They used to be the place to hang out after school and meet up with your friends. Now, it's where you go to set up a defense against the zombie hordes. Bath and body works, Target and Yummy Yummy remain unaffected. Immune to the plague we know as Amazon. But if that is all they have left, then this mall is on life support and the family has yet to pull the cord. Great place to escape the rain and cold if you are homeless! So if you are, check this place out.

We had a decent experience at Twisted Crab. The food was pretty good. The Lemon Pepper Wings were really really good. My Family all got boil bags, & they thoroughly enjoyed them. I will say that the service wasn't very good. The waitress rarely checked on us, & we were a table if 7. The alcoholic drinks were mediocre. Thier Long Island tasted "pre-made" & thier Old Fashioned tasted more like a fire ball mixture. If I go back here anytime soon it will be for take out, not Dine in. They have some things to work on right now.

Updated 12/8/220 This Mall is well maintained, clean, pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. The Target store gives access to the mall during the Mall open hours along with the Burlington Store. If you like Chinese or Japanese Food and you can find it here, along with with smaller places in the Food Court. Big Woodies along The Twisted Crab offer a variety of food from the Menu. It's a TERRIFIC place for Walking at, any time. Cinemark offers most Movies for $ 6.00 at any time for Seniors. Yes this still a good place to visit. Disregard the negative reviews. It was just announced (WAVY TV) that the old Sears and Penney's store will be demolished with two new different replacement stores .

This mall has very minimal stores in it now and even has a whole branch of the mall sectioned off. Really wonder how much longer it’s gonna last

Definitely the best theater in town and with AMC prices going up this is the place to go. Seats are very comfortable also and the rewards program is the best. They really have no competition!!!

This mall may be holding on by a string known as target, jcp,and a few stores and the food court but if your playing Pokemon go and love taking pictures with your Pokemon and looking for a nice quiet mall setting or so without many or any people getting in the way of your pictures then this place is great for such. I do wish it would have more stores like it used to back then, only reason why it doesn't have as many stores as it used to is because the owners of the mall raised the rent price for the mall store spaces and it was too much for most of the ones already there and is too much that it puts off any possible future ones that could have taken their places. In the end they were probably better off keeping the price at its original or not as high as they put it as then the mall would have more stores in it, more people in it, in turn more money revenue in the long run. It would be a shame if it keeps going like this and then ends up like the sears in another part of Virginia that used to be a mall as well. They went same route, slowly but surely every store left except for sears and then the interior of the mall section became spaces for offices or storage for the sole store left which is sears. Most even now wouldn't even know if they walked into a mall there since it has long since lost it's original name except for the last store... Don't let Chesapeake mall end up the same way.. it has a lot to give if given the chance like it used to back when it had more shops and the like.

Everything good is going away and shutting down. Lost a very good bar there, too. It's not the same anymore.

Big Woody's is a good place to enjoy with your friends. The fried shrimp is tasty. John is the best for making Lemon Drops.

Wouldn't recommend coming here anymore it's a complete ghost town. The only stores left are a shoe store, target, bath and body works, a few restaurants, and three clothing stores worth going to if you have kids or want a hat. Otherwise go to Greenbriar instead

I went to see Blue Beetle and my experience at Cinemark was outstanding. I'm giving Chesapeake Square Mall a 20 out of 5 for the food, clothes, movie tickets, and overall experience and I'll be back soon but I'll bring Monèt X Change and Monique Heart to the movies to see Blue Beetle ❤️❤️❤️❤️

The mall has few open businesses, is run down, & feels like there os a feeling that maybe you don't want to be there alone.
