An impressive building I saw while walking around the downtown area. Stunning modern commercial Gothic style of architecture.

A stunning Melbourne iconic building that holds a lot of history. It had a makeover some time ago yet still holds the glamour of a bygone era. There are a few shops on the ground floor but above are many small businesses. Take time to explore the floors, marble work, every-so-chic elevators and the lane at the rear. A must visit.

What an amazing foyer. It is a bit like travelling back in time. Find it if you can. One of many fabulous little asides from your main day in Melbourne. I particularly like the tiny spaces for lease. Someone do something amazing there, please.

Lovely meal at the 1932 Cafe followed by a great tour of this beautiful Melbourne icon. Leant a lot & thoroughly enjoyed all we saw. This tour is certainly worth doing, so be a Melbourne tourist in Melbourne.

Built in 1932 for the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfelows, a helping organisation, this Melbourne icon oozes Art Deco Gothic style throughout. You can take a tour, including the Tower. I have been visiting this building and various businesses therein since my youth, the most recent being to its major tenant, Smile Solutions dental care, and to the 1932 Café at ground level for the occasional coffee.

Husband & I did the lunch & tour Nov 2021 & were very pleasantly surprised. It was a lovely lunch and a really interesting tour. Both were run very efficiently & the tour guide was both informative & entertaining. Good value & a highly recommended experience!

An absolute joyous deco inspired building in the heart of Melbourne (directly opposite Melbourne Town Hall). Interestingly founded by the International Order of Oddfellows (yes I know what a name but hey 100 years ago!). Beautiful to admire the original fittings, light fixtures, mosiac tiles, escalator and more. Go to take a trip back in time (tours are also run on weekends) and admire what was achieved so long ago which still continues to inspire. 20.9 here for 1.5 hour tour of building which began with coffee and cake in Cafe then a group had a guided tour which was great. So lovely looking at all the old detailing, art Deco touches and more. Such a beautiful old building (1932), wish I lived here!

HIGHLEY RECOMENED Art Deco Hidden Gem of Melbourne, a view of rooms that you would not generally get to see- the stories told, the history, the wow factor behind the doors. Stunning indeed

Very old building, enter through the arcade sides. Not a lot to see inside but it does have a lot of history about the building on posters with the old tiling with lifts still intact

The Manchester Unity Building in Melbourne is a real showstopper. I wasn't sure what to expect, but as soon as I rounded the corner, I was blown away by this grand, art deco skyscraper. The terracotta tiles shimmered in the sunlight, and the gothic tower added this cool, unexpected touch. I wandered into the ground floor arcade, and it felt like stepping back in time. The mosaic floors were incredible, all these tiny pieces coming together in these grand patterns. The shopfronts had these beautiful metal detailing, and everything looked so polished and cared for. I could have spent ages just browsing the shops and soaking up the atmosphere. If you're in Melbourne and looking for a bit of history and beauty, definitely check out the Manchester Unity Building. It's a true gem of the city. I even saw a sign that they offer tours, which would be amazing to learn more about the building's story.

Gorgeous old building! Lovingly restored in sections. The boardroom was breathtaking, the tower stunning. Cheese and wine at the café restaurant was great. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Tickets required for tour.

We did the cheese and wine tour and it was fantastic. Very generous with the amount of food and wine. The tour guide was so knowledgeable and we loved all the quirky details and stories about the history of this beautiful building. Highly recommend for a leisurely afternoon out.

The Manchester Unity Building is a must-visit building in the Melbourne CBD. Downstairs are a coffee shop and the chocolatier Koko Black. The upper offices are a mixture of dentists, jewellers and other one or two-person businesses. A very interesting list of tenants. The building itself has been well maintained with pretty much original fittings and decorations. The plaster and metal work on the cornices and ceilings are very impressive, as are the wood and copper panelling throughout. It all has the genuine feel of a bygone era. This is why you should visit. Take the elevators up to a random floor and go for a walk through the foyers and hallways. Peer through the leadlight transom windows. Enjoy the special ambience that is now all too rare in the buildings in and around the CBD. Then grab some chocolates from Koko Black and a Flat White to complete the experience : )

My denist works here. In this amazing Gothic Art-Deco building built in 1932 for the International Order of Oddfellows. First escalator and air-conditioning in Melbourne I think. This has been lovingly restored or maintained to keep it's original magisty and grandure. Hard to imagine this opening at the height of the depression, but must have blown some minds when it did! You can even take tours of the building tp check out it's features, like the boardroom, complete with monogrammed chairs.

It is a building with a certain character relating to it's period of construction. In my opinion it is a little run down; tired and sorry. I visited a business on one of the upper levels and was concerned with the lifts. I'm sure they are updated but they felt wooden and rickety. As I said I'm sure they are ok but I was a concerned. The internal corridors are dark. So not totally a fan. If you are an architecture fan go and have a look otherwise...

It it a nice architectural design of an era that we will never see again. Towering above most other buildings in the city and for its time, the Manchester Unity Building is worth stopping and looking at, even going inside downstairs and seeing the foyer. Buildings are just not made like this anymore with the style and elegance plus craftsmanship it has.

This place has historical value otherwise as a business center it's mediocre at best. It's lifts are from 2000 BC or something.
