Tonight was our fifth visit to Rick's and again we had a lovely meal! Having moved into the area recently we needed a regular stop to eat out and this restaurant was a great find. Am working my way through the menu and everything has been good. Highlights so far have been the seafood pasta, the mushroom risotto and the carbonara. And the roof terrace is amazing.

We visited on a Thursday evening and my husband had chicken parmigiana, which was a Thursday night special, a delicious and huge serving that he couldn’t finish at an extremely reasonable price. I had the barramundi with chips and salad and it was perfect. The owner and his wife are super friendly and helpful and the menu is also vegan friendly with something for everyone including the kids and fully licensed. We are visiting from interstate and it was a good choice for us.

Decided to give a try at local steakhouse after craving a steak for whole day.And guess what, the food at here was absolutely blown our mind. We ordered two main which is lamb shank and surf and turf . The lamb shack was just melt in our mouth and the meat is fall apart easily from the bone. For the steak, amazing grilled technique and it is succulent . We also ordered chicken Caesar salad and it taste so fresh and yummy. Of course, the service is great and Rick so friendly and humble. You definitely can feel they run this restaurant with full of love.

I must say the Seafood Surprise and Lamb Risotto, really did truly suprise us with how tasteful and plentiful it was. I highly recommend Ricks Place, due to the amazing food and amazing service from the team 😁 We loved the roof and will fo back to have dinner on the roof. Thank you very much for the amazing food and amazing ambiance, as well as your recommendations for the beer. We will be coming back 😁

My wife and I walked in on this place on a Wednesday night. Despite there being no other customers inside Rick (the owner) welcomed us as if it was his own home. Our mains, Lamb shank and Surf n Turf, not only looked beautiful but were delicious. The wine selection is also great, matching the different dishes on the menu. We also shared the tumeric infused creme brulee which had a proper hard caramel top. At the end of our meal Rick took us up to the roof top which just had to be seen to be believed. It really is a special restaurant and like all the other reviews I highly recommend coming here anytime :) We'll be back soon for the rest of their menu!

I came across this place randomly searching on Google and menu caught my attention as it had lot of vegan friendly options (for my friend) in addition to non-veg dishes. Me n my friend tried one of house specials - Rick’s Chicken 🍗 & Eggplant 🍆 Parmigiana with Lemon 🍋 like bitters n Cranberry juice and it was absolutely Yum 😋..! Chicken was very fresh and crumbs very crunchy and nice to have. Very spacious place and Rick n his wife was very friendly and can’t thank enough them for a wonderful evening…! Looking forward to go around with my bigger friend group for few other specials that we had our eyes on.

I reserved a table for two and we were not disappointed. Rick was the most fantastic host and was extremely welcoming and friendly and even gave us a tour of the rooftop. The food and cocktails were spectacular. Truly grateful for the lovely meal and company, making it an unforgettable night. Would definitely visit Ricks Place again.

My family, friends & I love Ricks place! We always fill the table with a yummy selection of food hence our return time and time again. Delicious heart, soul warming food is what we have received each visit. Rick is so attentive and goes out of his way to make his customers comfortable and happy not to mention the cocktails are the best Kensington has to offer!! Highly recommend this restaurant for drinks or dinner, even an event or special occasion 🙂

Absolutely lovely restaurant and owner… I was out about with my partner and walked past.. was instantly warmly welcomed by Rick himself. The food was absolutely delicious and wine was very lovely… the view from the roof top was stunning. Ricks place feels like family, has great food, great drinks and great people.

Spent New Year's Eve at Rick's Place and had an awesome experience. Rick is very friendly, welcoming and strives to ensure everything is going smoothly. The bar staff were great and were open to experimenting with new drinks, even letting us show them some Chilean cocktails. The food was excellent and presented with care. After our dinner we went to the roof and were greeted with a spectacular view of the city which provided a perfect spot for the midnight fireworks. A memorable night, will definitely be returning.

When we arrived at Rick's Place, our host, Rick was welcoming and warm and we were quickly seated at our table. The service was excellent, attentive and engaging. Great wine selection and fantastic meal. We finished off our meal with the Italian Donuts and they were delicious. The meal portions were substantial and perfectly cooked to our individual needs. We checked out the rooftop where we enjoyed our post dinner drinks looking at the view. Rick's Place is a gem and we're looking forward to returning to try all the dishes on the menu! I booked a table for three at Rick’s Place for my sisters birthday and we were not disappointed. Rick is a fantastic host, making us feel welcomed and relaxed. It feels like you are at his place visiting, just like friends would on a Friday night. The menu offers something for everyone, making good use of extremely fresh, healthy ingredients, prepared and presented well on the plate. We had Seafood Surprise and I was surprised I could eat it all, it was delicious. My sister chose the Camembert Chicken and she was delighted with her meal. Our dishes were mopped clean with a serving of garlic bread. We will be back because great service and good food is what it’s all about. A big thank you to Rick and his team for making us feel special.

The atmosphere was excellent. Lovely staff. Loved the appetizers (the calamari was a crowd pleaser). Good variety of menu options. Well stocked bar.

REVIEW: Our top two favourites at Rick's Place were the Lasagne di Manzo and Gnocchi di Zucca! ❤ The lasagne was felt very home made, hearty and delicious with herbs scattered throughout. It wasn't heavy, so we were able to demolish the other food. 🧡 The gnocchi was memorably fluffy as well. It comes in differing shapes and sizes, adding to its homely atmosphere. I would recommend these two dishes! Rick's place is very family oriented and accommodating. Rick and the staff were very welcoming, with food and tables quite spacious for our group. Rick has also emphasised that dietaries can be catered for, with most of the menu transitioning to become gluten-free friendly! 👀 On the family side, it felt safe for the kids to leave their seats and roam around the restaurant as well. 🧒

Found this place after my partner was recently diagnosed as coeliac. Wow ... great venue, food was amazing, service was excellent. They know their stuff re gluten. Totally recommend.

I wish I had photos but when you take one bite you can’t stop for a photo!

Rick and the team look after you as if they were a family member. They made a great night for all of us. We drove an hour to get there and definitely will visit again. We were cheering and laughing so hard that I expected other customers to come and leave negative comments here. It’s our fault, not the restaurant atmosphere.

I literally love this place, authentic Italian food at a reasonable price. And it's different when you get served by the own Rick haha ..Rick is such a nice guy and did great drinks and made our night an awesome experience!

Went for Lunch to Ricks Place today 05/08/23 , and I'll tell you what it won't be the last time . Food was cooked to perfection , I had the Sizzling Beef which was as smooth and easy as butter to slice , accompanied with salad , chips and Pita bread . Daughter had the Gnocchi Di Zucca and that would have to be the nicest Pasta she has ever tried . And my wife had the Calamari Sale' Pepe which my wife is the hardest of critics to please , but she gave it the thumbs up 10/10 !!!!! Very surprised by the quality of food , very well presented and fresh as you can get . The other plus is that the owner Rick was a delight and very friendly to talk to and all I can say is keep up the good work Rick and we will be back again and again. Thank you Rick , your restaurant and customer service is outstanding and so is your food . See you again soon . A+++++

Our party of 4 visited today for my sons 17th birthday. I have to say everything was exceptional! Rick the owner was so welcoming and friendly. His cocktails were superb and we all loved the dishes we ordered. The atmosphere is lovely and inviting. I’m from the other side of town so it’s very unfortunate I can’t make Ricks a regular but I highly recommend this fine establishment to anyone far or close.

Finally went to rick’s place. They are extremely gluten free and coeliac friendly and have gone above and beyond. Had a GF parma which is rare and it was amazing. The burger and pasta was not gluten free but can be done gluten free. They also have an amazing rooftop and view. Can’t wait to try the rest of the GF menu!! thanks Rick!

My family and I visited Melbourne and after a quick Facebook search stumbled upon Rick’s Place. We couldn’t be happier with the delicious food and service we received. It was so delicious we went back the second night we were in town. Being a coeliac it can be tricky finding safe places to eat, but Rick’s Place made it so easy with endless options. We are up from Tasmania and Rick's Place was on my list of MUST DO'S and it did not disappoint. Service was 👍🫶👌 they were more than happy to discuss the menu and dietary requirements and with SO MANY choices my teenage coeliac felt like he was normal for once 😍 They were also flexible with their menu to provide my fussy daughter with a main menu item as a child's menu.

Beautiful Italian food made by a family owned business. I HIGHLY recommend you visit Rick his family and his team and try their amazing food. When you walk in it has a family home feeling. The staff are extremely helpful, and go out of their way for their customers. Rick will even say hello and greet you. It's not often you see the owners greet you but also be kind and make you feel at home. Rick lifted my spirits and I had such a lovely evening. My husband and I had the spaghetti bolognaise and it was so tasty! We even had a special visit to the rooftop - what a view.

Went in for lunch on a Saturday. Immediately greeted very warmly by Rick (the owner). Meat and poultry are all halal certified. We were assured that the pasta sauces were free from wine too. Owner seems to have done his research on halal friendly standards. So that’s a definite plus. Food was absolutely great. Price was very reasonable too. Hard to find a great halal friendly Italian restaurant in Melbourne. So I’m glad we finally found it. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent friendly service and food, will definitely be going back! Steak was cooked perfectly, and my companion said his chicken Parma was amazing. Just be aware that prices vary between takeaway and dine in, also their website prices are out of date.

I randomly found Ricks Place on google when searching for a gluten free restaurant. The menu had so many options which was amazing and Rick was only too happy to swap out any ingredients our party of 8 had dietary issues with. I didn’t grab any photos of the food because it was all devoured instantly. We were impressed with how much food the kids actually ate. Rick threw is some free donuts for kids too. Overall great food, great host and we will be back. 👍

Love going to Ricks Resturant, Very welcoming and warm. The food is delicious and refreshing drinks. Very nice design and space inside the resturant. It's local and easy to get to in Kensington. Highly recommended trying this place out for a date night or family and friends dinner night.

Sorry about the late review. We've been busy but we haven't forgotten about you Rick! We went to Rick's Place on Valentine's day and we were very lucky to be served by Rick and his family. We felt welcome and special the moment we entered the front door. Rick suggested my partner to take me upstairs to see the rooftop. The view from rooftop is magnificent. We ordered 2 mains and 2 side dishes. All food was delicious and my favourite was lamb shank. After the meal, Rick had some time to chat with us about his family and restaurant, which made us feel very warm and special. We only met Rick for the first time, but it felt like he treated us like old friends already:) We were served complimentary drinks afterwards and enjoyed the night view at the rooftop bar. Thank you Rick and your family for making our Valentine's day such a special and memorable one! We felt like we were taken care of during our stay with Rick and we didn't feel this way with many other restaurants. This is definitely one of the most special dining experiences we had. Couldn't fault anything. Food was out of this world, so yummy, ideal selection with attention to detail and that takes experience and a knowledge of what good food should be. Our host and his family were so friendly, and the rooftop view was a delightful surprise. Felt like we were VIPS. The perfect place to sit and just enjoy life with a stunning view of Melbourne skyline at night. I loved the trendy decor and the play list of background music. This is a real gem of a restaurant. Would highly recommend.

So delicious!! My partner and I decided to try Rick's Place for the first time last night, and boy were we glad we did. We had the lamb risotto and the lamb shank and both were absolutely top-notch! Beware the Italian donuts. I couldn't stop eating them!! 😆 Very happy with our food, and we even got to meet Rick who delivered the food himself. Quality food from a fantastic business owner. Can't wait to try some of their other dishes!! ETA: Rick's Place 2 days in a row! Such a treat! Today we tried his brand new chicken burger with an onion ring, coleslaw, the most perfectly crumbed chicken breast ever, and a spicy blue cheese sauce. Wooowie!! So delicious! I also want to add that Rick is such an amazingly kind human who cares so much about his customers. You really should order from him, not just because his food is delicious, but also because he really truly makes everything with love! 💕

Rick Place definitely has the feel of going to a restaurant in your own home. The food is absolutely delicious on presentation. The dishes that we had were a step up from any other food we had ordered before. There is so much to chose from, with vegetarian and vegan options as well. We will definitely being having dinner at this restaurant when it opens up again. 10/10

Extremely tasty menu across the board and a decent selection of classic, vegetarian, and vegan dishes. The Lemon Mouse in particular was fantastic, extremely light and creamy with a strong note of lemon whilst being neither tart nor sickly sweet. Rick and his staff were super friendly and provided a great and seamless delivery service. I've already recommended to my friends, hopefully they live in the delivery area.
