EFFICIENT, AUTHENTIC, HIGH-QUALITY There are many hot pot cafes scarred around the city centre but David's stands out for quality and dining room comfort. As a standalone restaurant with dedicated seating it is already way better than its foodcourt cousins! The food is very fresh and the staff keep everything very clean and tidy. Same drill as other places - select your items in a big container, take to the cashier who will weigh your selected items to determine your price. (note that there is a minimum charge even if you skimp on your selection, but the cashier will tell you if you are "underweight" and able to add more food with no additional charge). Small selection of drinks (including beer) available as well as some fired snacks. Choice of several broths for your hotpot soup. Pay, receive your pager and when your dish is ready go back to counter to collect. People with mobility issues will be fine getting into the restaurant as there are no steps but once inside its a fairly cramped seating set up. Would be challenging with a wheelchair.

Another David, another hotpot. This one has been operating on Swanston Street for more tgan a year. Rather busy at lunchtime. Went for the fixed price $18.99 including drink. Not what we would have chosen exactly, but was easy. Soup was the right amount of spice. Cas only today as the machine was mot working.

Great restaurant we’re you can add all your ingredients to a hot pot and it is cooked for you. Amazing selection of ingredients. Vegan and vegetarian friendly. Really quick service there was a line out the front to get in but it moved quite fast. Recommended.

I come here often now, one of my favourite places for hotpot. Love the pick n mix weigh and pay style. It has a really fun bustling vibe. Can come here as a 1 or more to enjoy delicious hot pot. The original one is my favourite but they also have a few other flavours which are really good. Haven’t tried the dry dishes yet but they look really good too. Price is very good and good variety of drinks to choose from! Love it

Hmmm I feel this place is just ok. Probably best to use one pot for 2 people as it's pretty easy to underestimate how much you take using that big pot (we use 1 pot each and we spent close to $60 for 2 people). They also have some set menu as well as dishes that your can order. Not sure if it wasn't our lucky day, but the soups weren't as tasty as other similar type restaurant. Seatings are slightly cramped if there are many people dining in.

Very good hotpot in the CBD, with good choices of meat, seafood & veggies. The place is small and can be very cold during winter time. They serve pig brain I really like it. The pork bone broth taste very good but their signature broth is the best. Unfortunately the staff is unfriendly and can be rude too.

Hotpot is pretty good. We tried the signature malatang. Our order pot was quite large, so the items had to be split into two different bowls. One slight improvement I would suggest though is perhaps to split the ingredients more evenly, as most of the ingredients were just anyhow thrown into each bowl. (All our meat and vegetables were all in one bowl, then all our different noodles and tofu were all in the other bowl.) Rice is free which is a huge plus. However, the rice itself tasted starchy, like it was not washed... Overall still a win in my books, as the hotpot base and ingredients tastes nice.

Delicious! Very filling for one as you need to have a minimum weight, as per most Asian delicacies, this place is very well suited to sharing with a group. If you can't handle spicy food, ask for mild as even the mild can be quite hot for the uninitiated!

Delicious soup base! You pick your own ingredients and the total price will depend on the overall weight. Comes with a free bowl of rice too. If you have the EatClub app, you may sometimes score a 20% discount!

Visited lunch time at 1pm / $19 Even though I cannot eat much spicy but the soup makes spices very mild. I enjoyed the variety of ingredients to put in a hot pot as well. Service was okay, if you wanna take away leftovers, you need to pack by yourself and the tray costs $0.51.

Soooo legit Mala tang, smell just right, if you are not so spicy type of people i suggest to order level 2 not too strong but can still taste the spice, when there 2 times during my visit in Melbourne

Nice to pick your own ingredients. Pretty fast cooking time. Pork bone soup was very flavourful.

Good selection of hotpot ingredients, good soup too. I think they cook everyone's ingredients pretty much in the same pot though because I would sometimes get ingredients I didn't choose in my bowl, so people with allergies and other dietary restrictions might be better off not eating here due to risk of cross contamination.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the noodle hot pot place, and I can't stop raving about it! From start to finish, the experience was great. First and foremost, the selection of ingredients for the hot pot was impressive. Fresh vegetables, succulent meats, and a variety of noodles were all available to customize my meal. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch, and it was clear that they take great care in sourcing their produce and meats. The broth options were flavorful and aromatic, catering to different tastes and spice levels. I particularly enjoyed the rich and savory broth that added depth to every bite. The service was outstanding. The staff was attentive, helpful, and happy to guide us through the hot pot process, especially if it was our first time. They were quick to refill our drinks and ensure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable meal. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to gather with friends or family. The hot pot experience was not only delicious but also a fun and interactive way to dine. In conclusion, David's Master Hot Pot place exceeded my expectations in every way. The quality of the ingredients, the flavorful broths, and the exceptional service make it a must-visit for anyone craving a memorable and satisfying meal. I can't wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings!

always my go-to hotpot spot in the city, thanks to Eatclub's constant display of live deals. I also love the soup's broth. The serving is massive (for me, it can serve 2-3 people if you’re not that hungry because the selection pot is big). The place is clean, and the ambience is ideal. It is accessible to everything in the city. Yes, I'd definitely keep coming back, and this is highly recommended.

Really good experience! Love the potatoes here!! Best place for spicy taste lovers. And also the drinks are pretty nice. Remember to tell them whether you need any coriander but normally they would ask you.

David's master pot has always been the decent choice for me and my friends. Variety of fresh Vegetables and meat ingredients offered. Staffs are super friendly, good option for both individual goers and mates' dinner place.

My favourite hotpot so far! Love their stir-fry! I got level 4 and its pretty spicy but addictive. Defined will come back again!

Staff are friendly and kind, my order was prepared in a reasonable time, and the restaurant is clean. Great place to eat and the takeaway containers are fancy. You make your own dish by using a spatula and putting your selected items into a bucket, and then hand it to the lady at the container. My order (a generic standard order) cost me $19.99

I really don’t like leaving reviews that aren’t five stars but this one had me quite disappointed. It’s Straya’ Day and I’m met at the restaurant door by the concierge and told there is an additional 15% surcharge for the holiday, okay no big deal. I pick out a seafood and noodle then at the front desk it’s $29! My first thought was to complain but maybe it’s going to be amazing so I said nothing. I ordered the extra hot and chillies added on top too. The food was just ok, the broth had a weird flavour that I cannot identify which is weird to me because I’m a world traveller. But the worst part was the chilli had cloves in it. I hate cloves! So aside from an overpriced seafood soup; I had a bad taste in my mouth for the next two hours literally and mentally.

DON'T COME HERE IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY, VALUE CUSTOMER SERVICE OR WANT DECENTLY PRICED FOOD. Informed staff before ordering that my partner had a peanut allergy, and she assured us that there was no peanuts in what we had ordered. After we sat down, he had a reaction, and couldn't continue to eat the food. I asked the lady again, and she said there was no peanuts, but that's his only allergy he would have a reaction like this to. No empathy, no apology, no refund. If he had continued to eat, his reaction would have been more severe and David's Master Hotpot would probably have a lawsuit on their hands. The food was also heavily overpriced. $40 for soup?!?! Very average, salty and obviously not allergy-friendly soup? Not even to mention very poor customer service from the woman serving us. She was more interested in helping customers behind us pay than helping my partner who was having an allergic reaction to the food. Didn't even get the manager/chef. Note to staff: Tell people with allergies that there is a high risk of contamination or be honest about the ingredients!!!

It’s not my first to come here. But every time I do really enjoy the time I spent at David’s pot. This time I tried the master pot and it was sooooooo good!!!! I chose the second spicy level which was not spicy at all. So if u guys wanna make a try at eating spicy food but are not confident with how spicy u can ‘survive’. Level 1 or 2 would be a good choice.

Amazing selection for David’s malatang... very delicious food. Highly recommended. Sometimes it was hard to hear because the music was slightly loud but otherwise, all very good.

With the opening of its new store on Swanston Street, David is ready to take you on a spicy adventure with its famous malatang. Choose from the traditional spicy broth with different level of spiciness, or the pork bone broth. Both guaranteed to excite your taste buds with punchy and bold flavours! With a wide range of ingredients to choose from, you'll be spoilt for choice here. Don't forget to try the desserts too, the fried glutinous rice cake is a must.

Tasty! Fresh ingredients, meat was good too. Maybe slightly too spicy for me. And possibly too much MSG? Great portion for price. I got it through EatClub with 10% discount :) Grateful that the staff asked if I wanted coriander (HELL NO!!)
