Terrible sight lines, uncomfortable seat with no back, very poor service at the bar, no interval ordering, dirty toilets, staff confused by the building they work in and unable to guide to seats even with a seat map... Simply put, don't bother, leave it for the tourists who overpay and think it's quaint. It didn't help that the play I saw was dire too.

A beautiful venue! It's entirely lit by candlelight which maintains the sense of an audience being part of the show, as you get in the main Globe stage, but on a much smaller, intimate scale. You get some really interesting shows on this stage throughout the year as well so it's always worth looking at!

We came to watch Hakawatis, which was excellent. Sitting in the pit so close to the stage made the experience very intimate. Inside the playhouse was beautiful and aside from a slightly uncomfortable seat we would definitely recommend.

Working a few days as a contractor... It's a fantastic place with a story behind it. I'm fascinated with what goes on there. I haven't seen a play yet but working behind the scenes is very enjoyable. A great bunch of people work very hard to put on a good show. Much respect!

Amazing atmosphere, brilliant play. You have to try this place, put it on your list.

Fantastic theatre with a great company. Really intimate space. Have seen Shakespeare and Ibsen here as well as performances for young children. Legroom relatively limited and there are no seats to lean back in.

One of my favourite places in London and by far my favourite theatre. There is something comforting about a small theatre, lit only by candlelight.

We had had standing seats for Hamlet...but only made it through the 1st act, as standing was too much for my daughter. We knew to expect this so we weren't disappointed. Very atmospheric and intimate. So glad we went.

We saw Henry V at the wonderful Sam Wanamaker playhouse. This is a beautiful and intimate theatre where you feel immersed in the performance. The candle lighting adds to the historical yet modern atmosphere. The seats can feel a bit uncomfortable after a while so the interval will be a welcome respite. There’s a cafe, bar and gift shop available.

Intimate little theater. They should angle bench seats so you don't slide forward.

Ghosts by Ibsen. Absolutely brilliant. Spellbinding location, atmosphere, writing, acting & production. It was so good I didn’t notice I was sitting on a bench (as you do here) for 1h40 mins. You will learn so much watching this.

We watched Shakespeare’s Titus and the acting was just fantastic. The whole theatre is solely candle lit which creates a vintage yellow tint to the whole show, making it really immersive. My only problem is the seating which is tiny and uncomfortable. There is no leg room or back support for shows that last over 2 hours. I get the historic appeal but we are in 2023 and need proper seating 😅. Nonetheless, it’s gorgeous!!

OMG ONE OF THE BEST PLAYS I HAVE EVER SEEN! I saw Ghosts here and it was fantastic. The staff were beyond helpful and friendly. I will definitely be back in the future

It was an unexpected surprise on the day that there are actually two stages in the Glob theatre, with one of them is indoor. The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is very small and cosy theatre (within the theatre) with candlelight chandeliers and a painted ceiling. However, it was very hot and stuffy inside and if you need to get out in the middle of performance for some fresh air you won't be allowed back in until the break or end of the performance. The standing sits can also be a big challenge for many and I would advise spending a bit more money to avoid standing for three hours.

Interesting Jacobean theatre attached to the Globe. The reason I’m rating so low is due to the fact that they prohibit re-entry during an hour and forty minute play. This is totally wrong. All bodies are built differently, and not everyone can sit for that length of time. They also don’t notify you of this before purchasing tickets. So I wasted 45 pounds to watch thirty minutes of a play because I had to use the bathroom.

Wonderful small venue inside The Globe. Candlelabras, painted ceiling and gorgeous wood columns. Intimate and so close to the actors it's wonderful.

Well. We paid £61 including booking fee for partially sighted seats. That's alot. The heat from the candles kept making folk ill with lack of oxygen and thus over heating so they kept getting up to leave for some air and thus disturbing us. I couldn't work it out until I came over all peculiar myself! I thought everyone else was suffering from no good bladders!!!! AND there was no interval. Crazy...on those seats??? (Rock hard). Authentic it may be, but sorry, you need a break from Ibsen with an ice cream and a dose of fresh air.

The most uncomfortable seating I have ever experienced at a theatre. Wooden benches with no back support. The theatre is lit by candlelight which is atmospheric but hopeless for people with poor eyesight. Likewise the stairs are not highlighted and thoroughly dangerous. Unable to order interval drinks, which is very inconvenient. Staff appear very confused by the venue, which is like a maze. Signage poor. Bar staff rude and unhelpful. Lavatories grubby and unmaintained.Definitely wouldn’t return. Ruined the play for us.

Love the set, the candles. Perhaps the tv version of Henry V with wide scale war and costumes ruined it for me, I was underwhelmed with this rendition of Henry V. The green background, lack of costumes (modern 2022 clothes) just didn’t make it memorable for me. For anybody stepping in without prior history of the Henry IV and V saga, you would be lost. Would’ve chosen something else to do had we known.

It is a lovely recreation of a 17th century Jacobean theatre. This gives it a wonderful atmosphere for seeing Shakespeare and similar plays. The theatre is small so you will be close to the actors although possibly at a weird angle. The seats while presumably authentic were authentically uncomfortable; still the experience to get a sense of a 17th century playhouse was worth it.

Some of the worst Shakespeare I have ever seen...felt like being in an improv class that I was not allowed to participate in. No effort went into costumes or sets. Massive overuse of cheap plastic chairs as props. I'm sorry, if you deliver a dire war update to the king with your hands stuffed in your hoodie or in your pockets, you are not a real actor. Also the choices made were either purposely made to be weird and nonsensical, or showed a profound willful lack of understanding of the source material. Go to RSC instead, they are incredible.

I bought a £5 standing ticket and throughly enjoyed my experience (with a little back-ache the next morning 😂). I loved the candle-lighting because it felt very authentic and the audience was brought in to the play as a character and it truly felt like how it would have been to watch a Shakespeare play back in the day - with the audience leaning in at various points of conflict. I came to see the Merchant of Venice and as a Jewish audience member, I was very pleased with the way they reformatted the play's chronology in order to contextualise the racism and antisemitism and add depth to Shylock.

Magical, magical venue. Saw Rude Mechanicals 'new' play, everyone in audience totally involved from youngest to oldest. Goofy, clever, talented, hilarious, silly, musical, all the best words to describe a totally enjoyable theatrical experience- hoping there will be more......👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

A truly immersive experience- felt part of the play. Loved the lightning and great use if stage.

Great theatre! Beautiful and small enough that it doesn't matter where you sit really. I was at the back of the pit which has a ledge behind it that makes it a little uncomfortable, but it was fine for the most part. The play was fantastic and the use of the chandeliers as part of the story was clever. Also, the sausage rolls from the café are amazing. Took me by surprise 😂

I did the tour and it was organised, I was able to watch King Lear rehearsal and that was the best part of the tour. The guise tour quite well knowledge.

A really excellent experience in a beautiful and interesting theatre, Great, thought provoking performance (Merchant of Venice). It's not opulent but that's the point. Excellent staff, helpful, informative and friendly. A bit easier to manage than The Globe.

Amazing experience and brilliant performance on the last night of Merchant of Venice. So happy to have the opportunity to see both the Globe and such a great production

Generally enjoyed the play measure for measure, acting was incredible and even though two actors had to be replaced the play continued smoothly. Afterwards we had a look round the gift shop but they wouldnt take cash either Covid or london in general, but if you dont have a card yet you cant buy anything. Bunch of fun and very cute with the chandeliers and candle light. Quite cleverly presented but did feel I needed subtitles as the entire play was spoken in old english 😄 would definitely recommend but try not to get the side seats at the top if you want to see everything :)

We saw a reading of Romeo & Juliet for kids and weren't really sure what to expect. The one woman show was exceptional at involving and engaging the children as well as parents. She did a great job of bringing the story to life and giving it context.
